An article you recently created, Central Coast Mariners FC–Sydney FC rivalry, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. In addition, there is a notability question. While there is no doubt these two teams meet, you need in-depth coverage from independent, reliable, secondary sources which talks about the rivalry, not simply mentioning it. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi mate.

I understand it needs more referencing, I will get onto that over the next couple of days. Referencing code just isn’t my strongest point, all the statistics came from the same website database.

As for questioning the rivalry, I’d urge you to look into some of the other pages that are still up about A-League rivalries such as Western United v Wellington Phoenix and Western United v Melbourne Victory. If they are rivalries and Central Coast Mariners v Sydney FC is not, Wikipedia might as well cancel its whole A-League coverage! Particularly the Wellington Phoenix page, those clubs have basically nothing to do with each other. Not that I think it’s a bad thing that those other pages exist, I think the more detailed pages about the history of match ups between teams, the better and more detailed Wikipedia’s A-League information is.

I did put an awful lot of time into this page to make it as detailed, accurate and professional looking as possible. I’ll get onto trying to add more references over the next couple of days and re-submit, but it’s definitely an article worth having on Wikipedia. Sasha Kuzevski moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Sasha Kuzevski, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 11:04, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What on earth mate. I literally copied Harry Steele, another Mariners player's profile. Literally copied the entire thing and just editted it to be Sasha's details.
Kuzevski was already on the Mariners squad template, just didn't have a page because he hadn't debuted until about a week ago. His page is literally identical to several other lesser players in the Central Coast Mariners squad. See Steele, Nectarios Triantis, Cameron Windust, James Bayliss and Dor Jok. How is my Kuzevski page any different?
I literally provided a source to two player profiles from external sites of his, which provides all the details such as his height, date of birth and everything. There's legit nothing else on his page yet for me to even reference.
Get a grip. Don't dis-encourage an editor who is putting in the time to keep Wikipedia up to date and accurate about a smaller topic he is passionate about. Put it back up. What a joke. Matt jobe watson (talk) 09:27, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go through the list of players that you have mentioned. It's quite possible that some of them need to be deleted. Kuzevski hasn't been deleted and is preserved in draft space until he becomes notable. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 09:49, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Windust is now up for deletion. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 10:04, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What are you doing mate? The point isn’t to delete them. Of course they’re notable, they’re playing in the A-League...

Why would you deliberately make the A-League have less information on Wikipedia??

Come off it mate, your role on Wikipedia is not to decide whether A-League players are notable or not, and it’s not your role to decide that the A-League should have less information about it. Matt jobe watson (talk) 11:48, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you learn about Wikipedia notability guidelines. I would, again, ask you to read WP:GNG and WP:SPORTBASIC. If you need further assistance, please see WP:TEAHOUSE or WP:HELPDESK. If you feel that I have behaved wholly inappropriately, after reading all of those, then please report me at WP:ANI, if you feel it necessary. A tag has been placed on Central Coast Mariners-Sydney FC rivalry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Central Coast Mariners FC–Sydney FC rivalry. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi mate,

Just wanted to know what’s up with you deleting every A-League page I try and contribute to the website? Especially the Sasha Kuzevski page, it’s literally an identical copy of about 10 other Central Coast Mariners players profiles. Literally everything is identical, I just changed the info to be Kuzevski’s, and this includes every single reference on these other approved pages. They all only have linked to player profiles on football websites, and I linked Kuzevski’s profile from these matching websites.

The A-League is not the biggest topic on Wikipedia. It has holes everywhere in it’s accuracy and information. I am one who actually takes the time to try and keep information relevant and as informative as possible. Do you just dislike the A-League, or is there some reason you don’t want more content about it on Wikipedia? Because like deleting the Sydney FC v Mariners rivalry page is stupid, given it’s all accurate information and makes Wikipedia more informative and adds to its library, but deleting the Kuzevski page is absolutely unjustified.

Please at the very least approve the Kuzevski page. I have put heaps of time and effort into keeping the Central Coast Mariners relevant pages up to date with relevant information and you keep cutting it down for no reason.

Thank you. Matt jobe watson (talk) 01:55, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the profiles of Harrison Steele, Cameron Windust, Dan Hall, Nectarios Triantis, James Bayliss and Dor Jok.
They are literally the exact same. How is it not acceptable if all of those pages have been accepted in the past mate? Or are you going to remove all their pages too and pretend the Central Coast Mariners (a professional football team in the top tier of Australian football) don't exist?
He's a relatively new player, he has made 6 appearances for the Central Coast Mariners so far. There isn't an awful lot to write about him yet. But he's an active professional player in the top league in Australia, just like all those other guys I mentioned. He deserves his page, especially when his page is an exact replica of acceptable pages of other similar Mariners players.
Not to mention if you have any knowledge of sport, if anything, ccmariners.com.au being his employer is a more reliable source than anything else out there... lots of rumours and false reports go around the sports world, you know if it comes from the club it's official and confirmed... Matt jobe watson (talk) 09:51, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please add independent news sources showing significant and detailed coverage of Kuzevski then Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 09:57, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As I said he only just debuted recently so there isn't a lot of media coverage yet. He's still a capped player in a professional league and deserves to have a page. He's notable because the A-League is notable and if you don't have his page, the A-League is missing content.
If you hate football so much, why are you involved in it's Wikipedia world? Matt jobe watson (talk) 06:35, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Don't delete it?? Just leave it in draftspace until there's a more major article on him? He's a current football player in the top tier professional league in Australia. What harm does leaving my work in draftspace do until he gets a bit more media coverage? Matt jobe watson (talk) 04:35, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

International soccer players issue[edit]

Hey Matt, at first I was opposed by your merge of Australia men's international soccer players, because of the former guidelines of WP:Article size, where if a certain article was at a big size (in kB), it should be split for convenience.

It was until then I realised that this guideline changed from kB size, to just the amount of words in the article, hence your edit on "List of Australia men's international soccer players being a valid edit.

Although, its bring a bit of a dilemma of how other countries player lists should be, if this is the case. FastCube (talk) 23:35, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it just makes more sense to me to have it in one page. I went to the page not looking to make any edits, just for information, and it didn't give me the information I was after because it was split into four. Matt jobe watson (talk) 04:31, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
