Miss Universe 2018 also became the first time in the history of the Miss Universe Pageant that a Trans-gendered contestant was allowed to compete. Angela Ponce, Miss Spain 2018, made history as the first trans-gendered woman to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant. She failed to make the Top 20, but her presence at the pageant left a lasting impression, including a special walk in honor of her history making moment.[1] Rybellion (talk) 03:12, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. — JJMC89(T·C) 19:31, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ITN[edit]

The above ITN nomination was closed rather quickly as having no hope of achieving consensus (see here). However it was at least arguably starting to do a bit better after the First Transgender Contestant very belatedly got mentioned and got given an altblurb. In theory somebody might try to renominate it based largely or entirely on this aspect, tho I expect it would still fail, possibly after some unpleasantness for allegedly re-nominating a supposedly hopeless closed nomination, so I won't be trying it myself. But when the First Transgender Contestant aspect was brought up, an opponent of the ITN nomination suggested it might make a good DYK (Did You Know) candidate for the front page. I know nothing about DYK (except that the DYK nomination page is here), so I won't be trying it myself, but I just thought I'd mention this DYK possibility here in case some other editor might wish to think about having a go. Monique Lhuillier Bridal is not based in the Philippines. The fashion houses are in Los Angeles and New York, and has no presence in the Philippines. The description should be Monique Lhuillier – Filipino-American fashion designer and creative director of Monique Lhuillier.

Notes[edit]

I noticed that in other pages of editions of Miss Universe, like the 2017 page and the 2016 page this section is present with notes about withdrawals, designations, debuts, and replacements, however in both 2018 and 2019 pages, this not present, instead there is a selection of participants sub-section under "Background". The notes section is present not only in the 2016 & 2017 editions of Miss Universe but also present in other pages for International pageants like Miss Universe. For example Miss World 2019, Miss World 2018, Miss International 2019, Miss International 2018, Miss Earth 2019, and Miss Earth 2018. It's been discussed already. It has been agreed that the notes section should be disintegrated into paragraph form. It's kinda uncyclopedic when we have a list that doesn't provide a reliable source supporting the information, as Wikiproject Beauty Pageants is suffering from unsourced information.
