February 2021[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "The Music Guides Playlists", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it seems to be the name of an organization or project. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 13:45, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

talk Hi, can you tell me what organization or project you are referring to? I don't see anything on Google besides my existing page under the same name on Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and Wordpress (that one is still under construction). Thanks
A username cannot be that of a website, you say "I created The Music Guides Playlists project". 331dot (talk) 13:55, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh ok. Then if I just remove the "project" word, would it be ok with the policies? I want to respect the policies, but I want to find the solution to keep my name if possible. I said project...but it's more a hobby, which is quite a synonymn. but could make all the difference in term of policies. Let me know. Thanks for your help. I appreciate.

If you want your project name in your username, it would still need to identify you as an individual user, such as "John of The Music Guides Playlists" or something similar. (You don't need to use your real name). 331dot (talk) 16:26, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

331dot OK, I changed for Me of The Music Guides Playlists in both descriptions and I asked for a name change. Thanks!

Hello[edit]

Hi, welcome. I add a lot of ratings as well. The vast majority of editors alphabetize The Encyclopedia of Popular Music as an 'E', thanks. Caro7200 (talk) 15:46, 17 February 2021 (UTC) Hi, do you mean that I should insert the rating in an alphabetical order in the review scores box? When I looked at a few of those, it didn't seems to be in a special order. If your comment is about this concern, please let me know and I will ajust. Thanks The Music Guides Playlists (talk) 21:29, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for responding. Yes, they should be in alphabetical order. You're correct, many aren't, mostly because no one has fixed them. And thanks for keeping the 'The'--many editors exclude it (so many rules ;)...). Caro7200 (talk) 21:40, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 01:44, 24 January 2022 (UTC) HelloMrOllie, I saw the concern about me being Colin Larkin. I am not Colin at all! I am a woman living in Canada. The only reason why I add ratings of Colin Larkin's encyclopedia, is because I like his work and I like music guides in general. I plan to do the same with the Penguin jazz guide. I also did edit for some local artists from Quebec, Canada on the french Wikipedia pages. My goal is to participate in Wikipedia database. I really wish that the ratings I entered won't be deleted because I don't see why other references such as All Music and Rolling Stone can be in the ratings, but not The Encyclopedia of Popular Music. I also saw the concern about my user name. I did a request for a new one and it should be all good (MelomaneQC). Please let me know. Thank you![reply]

January 2022[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website - I have blocked this account. Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a change of username of your current account here. The new username must represent only yourself as an individual and comply with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you.
