Miramar

The Miramar website will still be available, but on subscription. Discussion is taking place at WT:SHIPS re this situation. I expect the {{cite Miramar}} template will be updated in due course. Mjroots (talk) 06:48, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok, i didn't checked the wikiproject sites. Merlissimo 08:15, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Interwikis Removed

Hi there, just wanted to let you know that I've removed interwikis to ngwiki on the pages you listed using AWB. For more details, see your bot request. Robert Skyhawk So sue me! (You'll lose) 01:12, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Thx. I queried toolserver db to get the page list, but my bot is not approved for interwikis on this wiki. (btw: wp:br links to brazil project and not to bot request (wp:btr) ) Merlissimo 01:47, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:30, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

VIVC bot job

Thanks for handling that job; I saw that you took care of it in other language versions as well. Tomas e (talk) 18:08, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that's the advantage of my bot which is flagged for this job at many wikis. Merlissimo 22:58, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

two possibles

Hi Merlissimo, re the death anomaly project, after a fairly slow start on the EN report we are making serious progress on now - its dropped by nearly 200 in the last 7 days. So it is generating some really useful information which has been used to fix hundreds of anomalies or out of date articles, and it has prompted me to think of two similar reports that you might be interested in doing.

One is for an EN wiki project we have to clear up our backlog of over 27,000 unreferenced Biographies of living people.

The selection criteria would be:

In Category:Unreferenced BLPs
exclude if it has external links
and has interwiki links
and those interwiki links are to articles with external links

The other is to identify articles that we could easily add images to

If Article has interwiki links
Exclude articles with images
and those interwiki links are to articles with images from commons

Ideally I'd like them in a similar format of EN wiki articles and potential donor articles from other languages. Do either of these sound like things that are doable and if so would you be willing to do them?

PS you got a name check in this week's Signpost. Cheers ϢereSpielChequers 12:08, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

I have to think about these queries for some days. For the first query it makes only sense to check templateBLP unsourced and not BLP unsourced section. And the external links must be filtered. Most projects have external links to commons because of uselang=xx or templates using section=new or action=edit like {{Cleanup-afd}}. The second query has the same problem if a template with an icon is embedded.
After an hint i already read this signpost although i never look there before. Of course its great for me to read this - especially the feedback from Jimbo. But i missed your name because its was your idea.
An admin from lawiki requested for death anomalies table there. Merlissimo 23:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, but I have no shortage of ideas. My problem is getting them implemented, and that's why I'm excited on occasions like this when one actually starts to fly. Also you did the real work of getting all those death categories from dozens of languages, writing the code and getting the bot running. Great to hear about LAwiki, would you mind adding a row on meta:Death anomalies table - aside from being the third this should make the point that even relatively small languages can both contribute and benefit from this program.
As for the Category:Unreferenced BLPs query, there are a number of different templates which all have that one category. I think that the unsourced section templates go into a different lower priority category for partially referenced articles. ϢereSpielChequers 11:01, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Testing with wikis on the same database cluster (en is alone on s1) is much easier. So i tested your ideas using dewiki as start wiki against ptwiki:
2) Find article without images and interwiki article using images from commons
select distinct CONCAT('*w:de:',dep.page_title,' -> w:pt:',ptp.page_title,'')
 from dewiki_p.categorylinks
  left join dewiki_p.imagelinks deil on cl_from = deil.il_from
  inner join dewiki_p.page dep on cl_from = dep.page_id
  inner join dewiki_p.langlinks on cl_from = ll_from and ll_lang='pt'
  inner join ptwiki_p.page ptp on ptp.page_title= REPLACE(ll_title,' ','_')
  inner join ptwiki_p.imagelinks ptil on ptil.il_from = ptp.page_id
  inner join commonswiki_p.image on ptil.il_to = img_name
 where cl_to='Mann' and deil.il_from IS NULL and dep.page_namespace=0
  and ptp.page_namespace=0
 limit 10;
1) Find article without external links and interwiki article having external links
select distinct CONCAT('*w:de:',dep.page_title,' -> w:pt:',ptp.page_title,'')
 from dewiki_p.categorylinks
  left join dewiki_p.externallinks deel on cl_from = deel.el_from
  inner join dewiki_p.page dep on cl_from = dep.page_id
  inner join dewiki_p.langlinks on cl_from = ll_from and ll_lang='pt'
  inner join ptwiki_p.page ptp on ptp.page_title= REPLACE(ll_title,' ','_')
  inner join ptwiki_p.externallinks ptel on ptel.el_from = ptp.page_id
 where cl_to='Mann' and deel.el_from IS NULL and dep.page_namespace=0
  and ptp.page_namespace=0
 limit 10;
I think the result is useless as expected on my comment before. I also tested against plwiki with same result. Merlissimo 01:11, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Merlissimo, thanks for doing this, I can see that the image one would take more work either a table of icons to ignore or perhaps restrict it to looking for jpgs? As for the second one I think we have something potentially useful the last three all looked to me like they had references. even if a third of the matches were false positives I think this could be really useful. Thank you -- hindu.com link fix

Hey, Thanks a ton for picking up the hindu.com link fix bot job voluntarily.Kudos 1500 pages and going strong i guess.Looks good without any issues on my random check. Can you also please run the same link correction job on Indic language wikipedias like the Tamil,Kannada,Malayalam,Telugu and Hindi which may have few hundered fixes among them i guess. Thanks again. Have a good day! Srikanth (Logic) 18:32, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

I already run this job on most wikipedias. There were 29000 links (26000+ on enwiki) before and 980 (600 on enwiki) left [1]. tawiki and kawiki are already done yesterday. On mlwiki, tewiki, hiwiki and tlwiki i have requested for bot flag because my bot will have more than 20 edits after this job and still has not flag. But only tlwiki gave positive response.
There are also some links with invalid new urls which aren't replaced. Perphaps you can fix them after my bot has completed his job. Merlissimo 18:59, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Great, If you could post the fail log of the job once done, I could probably fix them manually. Srikanth (Logic) 19:31, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
I looked at the log and it says that alle these ignored thehindu.com links were not replaced because they are still working.
The interesting think at the enwiki log is that since today 3 pm many old links are redirecting to hindu.com now, but not all. Merlissimo 21:44, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
thehindu.com job finished gloabally. Still few 404 on enwiki i cannot fix. Also some thehinu.com on protected pages that redirect to hindu.com (but that not important to correct). Merlissimo 23:47, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your work with the bot redirecting broken Culture24 links!

Hi Merlissimo,

I've just seen your message here about the work you'd done with your bot on sorting out all the broken 24 Hour Museum links to redirect to Culture24 - thank you ever so much! I'd been so daunted by [list], but you've gone and fixed it - that's amazing and very much appreciated. Thanks again, and I'm sorry it took me so long to notice!
