Cone sisters
Since you did such an excellent job on tweaking my article on Michigan logging wheels, I would like you to look over my latest new article on the Cone sisters. - I've booked a day off work, so will be able to get some shots of the parade. (Probably some video as well: I'll take the camcorder, although I don't know how to get the footage on to the computer yet!) I accept that if the date of birth is questionable (which is why it was fact tagged) it should be deleted until confirmed. However you elected to rv all the edits I made, categorizations, etc., which I am restoring. Well, the article seems to be surviving un-protection; it even had some decent content added by another IP. Admittedly, this was one biographic topic where the 24 hour news cycle sunk it's teeth in there for a while, but I've got a pretty good instinct about when the vandals have moved on to a new bauble. - I'll say this as an "experienced" admin- we are wary of imposing protection, because that goes against the open editing model; conversely in my experience preemptive semi-protection would, in retrospect, have been a wise move. You can't win, in general, but given also that I have seen more experienced admins than I remove lengthy WP:BLP protections, only to see BLP vandalism recommence almost immediately, I am convinced that optimism is in some ways misplaced. Let's not forget that protection is still open to {{editsemiprotected}} or an request on the protecting admin's Talk page, and that is without an independent review on WP:RFPP. - I was only speaking to the case of this specific bio in this specific instance; since you don't cite your examples I can't speak to them. There are BLP's of the super-famous where I'd never dream of bothering WP:RFP about them, and bringing good faith discussion to the talk page is often enough to get the ball rolling for inaccuracies, new refs, etc. Even so, I don't think a six month or year long protection period presents an unreasonable burden for an administrative parole review, however brief, on merely semi-famous BLPs. Hopefully this is the right section. :) The problem with Charles Fryatt is that when the article was created it copied the contents of [1], which includes contents by two different writers from two different sources, neither of which would appear to be pd. The situation was discovered this morning, evidently, and listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 December 9 by User:Jackyd101, who also noted the issue at Main Page/Errors. Evidently, the DYK hook was already on the front page at that time. User:Materialscientist said he would "try to fix that article in a moment" in response to the Main Page/Errors report, but I can't see that he did anything? - I understand the panic. I'd have felt the same way, I'm sure. :) I'm still a bit confused and kind of alarmed about how all of this went down. As far as I can tell, nothing was done to delink that copyvio from the front page even though an administrator was notified of it and acknowledged that notification hours before the DYK update. Obviously, this is no fault of yours (and I've have been pretty bummed to lose a DYK myself because somebody else violated copyright), but that doesn't shine a good light on the project--admins ignoring copyvios. - That's the main reason that I would do it, but, no, I don't think it would be a problem for you to do it yourself. It doesn't technically qualify for G12, since it doesn't meet the criteria. Generally, we'd keep it listed for a week at CP and then delete it under that criteria in the pull-down menu. But when a new article is written to replace an old one, I will usually delete the first under G6, with a note of explanation something like: "Copyright violation foundational. New article written to replace." (Only usually I'm sure I'm not that long-winded.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:32, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

What about the articles which linked to the article on the musician before the move? Could they be altered by a bot, or do we have to change them manually one by one? It might be a good idea to get right on it, as all links to Stefan Kaufmann are probably meant to link to the musician presently, as his article has been named just Stefan Kaufmann until now - but this might change as links in articles which involve the other Stefan Kaufmanns are introduced eventually. I'm sure it's easier to make a program which alters all the links with no further conditions.
I'm not inclined to take up bot programming right now, so I would need some assistance if an automated procedure is to do the work. If changing links manually is the best option, I'm willing to do it.

As for signature, its not really something I think about. Black and white seemed pretty plain to me. It was supposed to be like that for the "aevil" theme I've got going. I guess it needed changing some time or other. There are thousands of worse signatures than mine though, with bright yellow on blue with pink etc... I still think the template doesn't belong there, but I was going to leave it alone because I didn't want to argue about it. - Thanks for the message. I'm no expert in navboxes, but I don't think this one is right. The purpose of the orphan tag is to get articles to link to other articles. The navbox artificially defeats the purpose by putting in false links to the navbox itself instead of by extending the net among articles. Also, the fact that Terry lived in Small Hythe, and the fact that it is near Tenterden is adequately represented by the links already in her article. The other stuff in the navbox is irrelevant to Terry. I'm not going to fight you on it, but I don't think it's right. I'm willing to wait and see what other editors say. Is the Tenterden template justifiable in the article on Isaac Bargrave? He was vicar of tenterden for about 2 years, and probably non-resident. The banner at the foot of his page looks rather out of place to me, given all the other aspects of Bargrave's career which might be thought more important. There is a link to Tenterden in the text. This is probably a stupid question but can a photograph of a statue be considered as a "reliable source". In reading up on Charles Nepean's football career, I have come across "R.S.F. Walker" who scored 4 goals in 3 matches in the pseudo-internationals, yet never seems to have played another notable match. On digging around, it seems that he was Robert Sandilands Frowd Walker, who went on to have a career in the military and became eminent in Malaya. So far, the only source that I can find for his birth details is on the photograph on this blog. I'll keep digging and see what else I can find. - Perhaps you can help. User:Anythingyouwant has removed this image from the Frank Buckles page and added this image from commons. Same image, just different name....and different licensing. Mine as what we discussed and his has {{PD-USGov}}. Canadian Paul is going to wait until after the funeral service today (Tuesday) at 4pm EDT before re-reviewing the article, so it remains on hold for 7 days. As Camiroaga isn't legally dead, his body hasn't been found and at the moment is only "disappeared", I urge you to not mark his article as a recent death, nor to call him "dead". You are violating the biographies of living people policy by doing that, and additionally, you could be sued if Camiroaga turns out to be alive. I am currently working on the Wiki page for Ms Radha Thomas. She is an Indian jazz singer and songwriter. In fact, she is known as a diva in the Indian jazz scene. She previously was with the band Human Bondage and has sung and performed globally. The article is still under development. I haven't completed it or submitted it for review yet. - Hi again. I was wondering if you'd had any response at wp:cz about the class of the Order of the White Lion awarded to Winton? Although I have more or less given up on the ITN nomination, I'm still intrigued. The report at PrageuPost suggests that both awards were made at the same class, but does not explicitly. I'v also scoured all of the top Google hits in Czech (with the help of Google translate!) but have drawn a blank. As User talk:Fuebaey has pointed out, we don't to seem to have any reliable sources yet for the class. Peter Cazalet
Nice article there. Might be worth trying to find a DYK? from it - maybe the fact about him teaching Elizabeth Taylor to ride possibly? Can you check something from his military career? Article says he was potentially recommended for a Military Medal, but I would imagine by that point Cazalet was already an office and would have been line for a Military Cross - could you have a look at your source to check it? --Bcp67 (talk) 15:07, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

- OK I can see what's happened with the source there, having read the online article from The Guards Magazine now - the recommendation of the MM refers to a different soldier, a Guardsman - eligible for the Military Medal. Cazalet was the soldier's CO - "Two days later at a laager on a German farm, Gdsm Cumbley’s squadron commander, Peter Cazalet, called him in and told him he would be recommended for an award, but despite a letter of recommendation to Lt Col Windsor Lewis, he was to be disappointed; there was no Military Medal". I'm going to remove the mention from the article. Agree about Albert Roux too, I might nominate this for DYK with a couple of Alt hooks. --Bcp67 (talk) 18:40, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
I've done about as much as I think his cricket career warrants. I'm not sure I believe the story about him turning down the captaincy of Kent for his horse-racing interests: Percy Chapman, as an ex-England captain, was pretty well-ensconced in the job for as long as he wanted it, and Bryan Valentine, a far better cricketer than Cazalet, played fairly regularly and acted as Chapman's deputy for the times whenever the great man's conviviality got in the way of his ability to do the job, which happened more and more across the 1930s. - Thanks. I think that's probably wise. It may well be that he was encouraged to make the couple of appearances for Kent in the 1932 season, as they probably remembered his 150 for them in 1928; but it didn't really work out. I'm surprised that he didn't play for Oxford at all after he was dropped in 1928, not even in the trial match for 1929: could it be that he left the university after two years and didn't finish his degree? Hi, while this has been the subject of a lot of back and forth edits, the controversy section of the page is not contentious. The subject or people on their behalf are trying to conceal something that is true and supported by citations. I do not think the content violates the wikipedia policy on biographies of living persons. It would be good to reinstate the content and keep the lock! On access to newspaper archives; yes, it's useful to know that. Although my local library closed 15 years ago, I will check out an alternative (in Surrey) about 20 minutes away. I don't begrudge the subscription. It won't be wasted because I'm an incurable geneaholic, and it also found the secondary source needed yesterday for 'Mad' Tom Manning. The DNB tells me that before travelling to Somerset he pulled his own beard out by the roots. Supplying references on Wikipedia may be less painful.
Love your articles on ships. My ancestors sailed. Have found User:Acad Ronin helpful also.
