The article Hector Correa has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable baseball player, fails WP:GNG and WP:BASE/N. I feel I maybe could speedy this as the creator, but I'm not sure so I PROD.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:17, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

I like how you notified yourself that you were proposing the article for deletion.. just in case you wanted to challenge your own proposition.. Spanneraol (talk) 20:47, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Well, you can never be too thorough! I use WP:TW for a lot of my tagging, and in the case of a PROD or AfD, it automatically notifies the article creator. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:04, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Muboshgu I was checking to see if it possible to have my page reinstated? Is there anything I can do? It seems there is some grey area and I might be reconsidered. Thank you, Dave Holt Baseball Player 68.58.223.98 (talk) 02:49, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

I apologize

I want to apologize for an offhand remark I made in the AfD Wil Cardin discussion. I was getting the impression that you were only proposing republican pages for deletion, and being a Democrat myself, was getting a bit irritated. I've been trying to quit caffiene and it hasn't helped, lol. I just don't like to see bias on Wikipedia, and even if that is what you are doing (I'm still not clear on that because I can't find any Democrats that you have nominated)...even if that is what you are doing, my remark was uncalled-for. I go out of my way to be very polite, and I got a bit snippy without even coming to you first, and that simply wasn't fair. Can we be friends? --Sue Rangell 01:05, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

I'll nominate for deletion any paper candidate or sacrificial lamb candidate I come across. I think it's only those two so far. I was thinking of finding who it was that ran against Barney Frank in 2010 (I think that candidate still has an article and probably shouldn't). I try to keep impartial when I edit. I nominated the Todd Akin comment article and "You didn't build that" article for deletion, and I've gotten DYKs for some of the new members of the House, both Democrat and Republican alike. My nominations have nothing to do with partisanship. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:53, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

Documents from the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum

hi I work at the Gerald Ford Presidential Library and Museum, and we are uploading materials to Wikimedia Commons. We have a number of documents that might be of interest to you - they are located at Wikimedia, Category:Documents at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum. If you are interested in writing articles/stubs, I may be able to provide you with pictures from our archives as well. We have a limited number of artifacts, also at Wikimedia, Category:Artifacts at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum. Let me know if I can help in any way, and please feel free to pass the word about these docs; I'd love to see some content generated around them....thanks! Proposed Article for Deletion

Hello again, I see that SNIyer12 was recently banned. It's too bad because he occasional made good maintenance on articles, but I certainly understand the decision given his history of repeated disruptive edits and disregard for consensus. It didn't seem like he was learning. I'm contacting you because I want to nominate a page he created for deletion. It's Celtics–Knicks_rivalry. I know you and I share the opinion that these "rivalry" pages are ballooning out of control and I believe SNIyer12 was a big reason for that. It has three paltry references that deal more with a general New York - Boston city sports rivalry. It was created in 2010 but there have been recent IP edits and additions to the Knicks' page that I believe may be originating from SNIyer12 (I see he was also recently accused of sockpuppetry). Please let me know how you would recommend going about doing this or, if you want, feel free to do it yourself. Thanks very much.TempDog123 (talk) 21:08, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

It is a shame that user didn't behave better. We tried to keep him around, because a number of his edits were very helpful. I haven't had a close look at that page yet, but I can see AfD being a good venue for it. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:21, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

X said something stupid AfDs

I saw your X said something stupid AfD requests.[1][2] You might want to check out Wikipedians who are not a Wikipedian DRV and its MfD. Pretty much the same thing as US presidential politics, only within Wikipedia. As for the politically motivated articles, I've been working on concept idea on how to address this in the future. If you look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Romney Democrat, you will note that it was deleted after the election ended. The Romney Democrat article was created 00:48, 4 November 2012‎,[3] two days before the US Presidential election. By 06:53, 4 November 2012, the AfD had enough input to get an idea of where the outcome was headed. What do you think about having a Template:TempDelete (similar to Template:TempUndelete used at DRV) where an admin could have replace the contents of the Romney Democrat article just after 06:53, 4 November 2012 indicating that the page was now being discussed at AfD. That would have blanked the contents of the article during the two days before the US Presidential election, but left the Romney Democrat article content history available. Then, after the US Presidential election ended on 6 November 2012, anyone coud remove the Template:TempDelete and make the Romney Democrat contents of the article visiable once again. Making the article temporarily hidden from view just before the election would prevent Wikipedia from being used for political purposes yet still maintain the content accessible in article namespace. Template:TempDelete could be applied to any election worldwide where appropriate. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 13:07, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

I know you've been asked before

Looking through your talk page archives, I see two queries similar to the one I'm about to make, but since the most recent one was almost three months ago, I thought I'd inquire anyway. Would you be interested in running for adminship? You are overqualified, in my opinion, and TommyBoy's RfA showed that content contributors such as yourself can pass, so I thought I'd ask. I would definitely be willing to nominate you, but I'm sure those with a little more prestige around here than I would as well. I just think that you would be an asset to the project as an admin. Thanks--Go Phightins! 20:17, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

40 man players

Why are you creating new articles for everyone that gets added to the 40 man roster? Surely these guys would be better positioned on the minor league player pages until they get called up? Most of these articles have such little info in them that they are primed for merging anyway. Spanneraol (talk) 18:20, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

No 40 man player should be a red link. They all, undoubtedly, deserve either full pages or redirects to MiLB pages. This is a good way to find out which deserve their own pages and which should be merged. The Brazilian pitcher for the White Sox definitely has enough coverage for GNG. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:53, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
I agree about the red links, but most of these guys should be on the minor league players pages. Curtis Partch for example. Spanneraol (talk) 19:08, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
You're right about Partch. We can merge that one and any others that should be merged. Andre Rienzo is the one I mean that I know for sure meets GNG. The others, there's no deadline to decide upon. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:18, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
You also don't need to rush to re-direct the articles. I was in the middle of creating an article and before I saved you re-directed it.--Yankees10 20:07, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Why do you keep adding the -- in the number field on the player info boxes? It doesn't really serve a purpose and just looks funny.. I prefer to just leave that field blank if they dont have a number. Spanneraol (talk) 03:52, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Well, between all of us, there are no more red links in roster templates. I just made redirects on the last of them (I just flew across the country today, not in the mood to research them all). We need to go through the whole group of new 40 man roster players to decide who of them deserve their own articles and who gets a blurb on a MiLB page. I'll start on that tomorrow. – Muboshgu (talk) 05:15, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Paul Krugman edit on Controversies

Thanks for letting me know of your removal of my addition to the Controversies section of Paul Krugman's personal biography. A previous editor was not so considerate. I am not really sure why this piece was removed but will accept your judgement based on your experience on biographies on Wikipedia (I'll read up on that). I believed the section was appropriate for inclusion particularly about someone as polarizing as Krugman and I thought this provided some balance to what seems to be mostly (but not entirely) a politically correct biography. There were some other comments that were similar in the bio (such as Barro and Prescott's in "Economics and policy recommendations.") and I don't see these as too much different from those remarks. Anyone of Krugman's stature talking about Milton Friedman, one of the most important economists of our time, in an article that received considerable attention seems to deserve the reference, at least in my opinion. The comments were made, not by me but by a protégé of Friedman's, who Krugman said was one of the most important monetarists of our time (Anna Schwartz). And she did so in paper published in the annals of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

I am brand new to this Wiki editing and Talk. Given this may be my one and only foray please forgive any misplaced or technical faux pas.

You just commented in Edit Summary section that the citation does not need to be in the lede. I really don't care if it is in the lead or not. What I do care about is the fact that the citation that keeps getting placed in the article is an incorrect citation. I was attempting to correct the citation. I was not attempting to jam the citation in the lede as you incorrectly surmised. Please check the citation closer. The citation that I removed from your new section stated that the Washington Post article was written by Rachel Weiner, which is incorrect. That article that broke this story is from the Washington Post but it was written by Daniel Henninger. Please do not jump to conclusions on what other editors are doing. Please ask and don't assume. It's a point I'll take under advisement. I did notice after I chose "vandalism" rather than good faith what you had meant to do. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:46, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

I've just deleted this page as a copyright violation of [4]. Although ballotpedia is indeed a wiki this does not automatically mean it has a license that is compatible with wikipedia. Given that you recently edited the page, you might find this article about recent vandalism on the Towers article interesting. It looks to me like it had been taken care of before you got there, but I still thought it might be amusing to you. AutomaticStrikeout (TC) 19:37, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Granderson middle name

Hi Muboshgu, seeing a lot of vandalism around his middle name in the past day. Presumably some of it is coming as a result of people reading this article on MLB.com. Just wanted to keep you apprised and see if you want to keep an eye on it. Thanks! Matthew (WMF) 20:15, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I'm MrX. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, but you didn't provide a reliable source. Is it really necessary to template an editor with over 90K edits? AutomaticStrikeout (TC) 20:18, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Over 100K, actually :P – Muboshgu (talk) 20:19, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
I've been wondering about that. Did you have a prior account or edit as an IP or something? AutomaticStrikeout (TC) 20:20, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
I don't think so? But I can't remember how everything started. I do know that a few different ways of looking at edit counts and "birth" dates conflict when I try to trace back my wiki-lineage. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:22, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I've noticed the edit count you give is slightly higher than the official ones I see. There must be some reason for the discrepancy, not that it makes a huge difference when one has that many edits. AutomaticStrikeout (TC) 20:26, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Really? A drive-by templating over something that got reinserted due to an edit conflict during the massive storm of editing that's been going on? – Muboshgu (talk) 20:19, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we are requesting your participation to help find a resolution. The thread is "Los Angeles_Angels_of_Anaheim".

Guide for participants

If you wish to open a DR/N filing, click the "Request dispute resolution" button below this guide or go to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/request for an easy to follow, step by step request form.

What this noticeboard is:
  • It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
  • It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
  • It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
  • It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
  • It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
  • Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
  • Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.
  • Sign and date your posts with four tildes "~~~~".
  • If you ever need any help, ask one of our volunteers, who will help you as best as they can. You may also wish to read through the FAQ page located here and on the DR/N talkpage.

Please take a moment to review the simple guide and join the discussion. Thank you! EarwigBot operator / talk 08:31, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your nomination, but DGG's arguments were stronger, so I closed the AfD as keep. Bearian (talk) 17:52, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

I recognized that DGG had a very strong argument, so much so that I thought about withdrawing the AfD. I decided not to so that the AfD record could say "kept" rather than "withdrawn", though that likely doesn't make much difference. I figured it was going to close as keep and at any moment. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:02, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey. Would you be able to review Bob Lemon at GAN? Since it's part of User:Wizardman/Operation Big Bear, I wouldn't feel right giving it the review, and since he was a Yankee for a time it should hold interest for you. Wizardman 15:41, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Yeah no problem, although I may not be able to get around to actually reviewing it until January. I'm very busy and have left GA work off (I'm not even nominating nearly as many DYK articles lately). – Muboshgu (talk) 20:18, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Not a problem, I ended up reviewing it. When my review is done though, would you be able to tackle the changes? I would but fixing my own review may be iffy. Wizardman 18:57, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Sure, but I'm going out of town later today for Christmas break, so it'll be after Saturday, or maybe the first week in January. Just ping me again in the new year if I don't move on it sooner. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:07, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Not a problem; the review's done now but I'm fine giving you a couple weeks to tackle it, since I found quite a bit. Wizardman 01:34, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi there; you're receiving this message because you have previously shown interest in the WikiCup. This is just to remind you that the 2013 WikiCup will be starting on 1 January, and that signups will remain open throughout January. Andy Barr

If you have the time and inclination, might you add your voice at Talk:Andy Barr (American politician)? Apparently, a couple of relatively new editors don't think my time expanding his article was well spent since he hasn't taken office yet. Should have taken your advice and nominated for GA, I suppose. Now I'll need to show consensus for the present article length to keep from failing the "stable" criterion. *sigh* Such is the life of a WikiDragon, I suppose. Twitter as a source?

Do you have any thoughts on the Yankees roster template? There is a user who wants to give Youkilis a number based on a tweet from a beat writer. I'm against it, but I don't want to get too deep in an edit war, obviously. Your opinion tends to be a solid one. Kjscotte34 (talk) 13:58, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

I personally don't use Twitter as a source, but I can see the reasons to do it. All in all, what Youkilis' number will be is a small matter. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:48, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

A couple of things

First, thank you for the addition to the African-American Civil Rights Movement template. I keep a watch over the template to make sure it doesn't list "lesser personages and organizations", which it sometimes does. --- Secondly, I see you like the baseball pages. I spent lots of time moving a player's hall of fame reference up to the lede's of articles, or close enough to make a difference. I noticed that many HOF'ers pages don't mention that fact until near the bottom of the page! I haven't done all of them by a long way, maybe on your travels along the trail of pages you can check on that. Thanks. As for the Yankees, have you read book "The Year That Babe Ruth Hit 104 Home Runs"? An amazing work showing that Ruth remains one of the most underrated bb players in history. Good to meet you. Randy Kryn 12:15 4-1-'13

Thank you for keeping a watch on that template. I noticed with the number of names in it that there was some risk for adding undeserving individuals, though I wasn't concerned about Clayton's qualifications (watch for a DYK on that article in the coming weeks). I do edit a lot of baseball, and especially the highest priority pages. Eventually all HOFers should be up to GA status, and the first step of that article expansion is usually adding their HOF status to the lead in addition to the body. I've noticed that a lot of those articles don't mention it in the lead, but we're working on improving their quality. As to that Ruth book, I've heard of it but haven't read it. I hear only good things about it. Thanks for the suggestion. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:01, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
I probably put the HOF reference in the lede in from 30 to 50 of them, I didn't count and this was started a couple of years ago. Thank you for improving the baseball pages, and I saw on your loooong list of articles started lots and lots of ballplayers. Ah, the Ruth book, it's out of print now but could be had on Abebooks. I've read it at least three times and each time have talked at length to my friends and family about Ruth being underrated. As a Yankee fan, I'd say that should be a must-read. I don't even know if it's referenced on Ruth's page here, but if not, and you read it, I do not fear that it will go unreported. I'll look at the Baseball Mountain link, thanks, and will go to a few more of the Hall of Fame pages and see if I can find one or two without that HOF reference in the lede. Play ball! Welcome to the 2013 WikiCup!

Hello, Muboshgu, and welcome to the 2013 WikiCup! Your submissions' page is here. The competition begins at midnight UTC. The first round will last until the end of February, at which point the top 64 scorers will advance to the second round. We will be in touch at the end of every month, and signups are going to remain open until the end of January; if you know of anyone else who may like to take part, please let them know! A few reminders:

  • The rules can be found here. There have been a few changes from last year, which are listed on that page.
  • Anything you submit must have been nominated and promoted in 2013, and you need to have completed significant work upon it in 2013. (The articles you review at good article reviews does not need to have been nominated in 2013, but you do need to have started the review in 2013.) We will be checking.
  • If you feel that another competitor is breaking the rules or abusing the competition in some way, please let a judge know. Please do not remove entries from the submissions' pages of others yourself.
  • Don't worry about calculating precisely how many points everything is worth. The bot will do that. The bot may occasionally get something wrong- let a judge know, or post on the WikiCup talk page if that happens.
  • Please try to be prompt in updating submissions' pages so that they can be double-checked.

Overall, however, don't worry, and have fun. It doesn't matter if you make the odd mistake; these things happen. Questions can be asked on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 23:21, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Non-notable minor league player who has never appeared in a major league game. Fails WP:NBASEBALL, WP:GNG and WP:CRYSTAL.

I just checked and the box for getting emails from other users was mistakenly not checked. I just checked it off, so that's all that's needed to be changed? – Muboshgu (talk) 21:20, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Image question

I left a couple file-related questions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball but I haven't gotten an answer yet. Might you know what the answers are? AutomaticStrikeout (TC) 21:25, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 January newsletter

Signups are now closed; we have our final 127 contestants for this year's competition. 64 contestants will make it to the next round at the end of February, but we're already seeing strong scoring compared to previous years. Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) currently leads, with 358 points. At this stage in 2012, the leader (Irish Citizen Army Grapple X (submissions)) had 342 points, while in 2011, the leader had 228 points. We also have a large number of scorers when compared with this stage in previous years. Florida 12george1 (submissions) was the first competitor to score this year, as he was last year, with a detailed good article review. Some other firsts:

Featured articles, portals and topics, as well as good topics, are yet to feature in the competition.

This year, the bonus points system has been reworked, with bonus points on offer for old articles prepared for did you know, and "multiplier" points reworked to become more linear. For details, please see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. There have been some teething problems as the bot has worked its way around the new system, but issues should mostly be ironed out- please report any problems to the WikiCup talk page. Here are some participants worthy of note with regards to the bonus points:

  • United States Ed! (submissions) was the first to score bonus points, with Portland-class cruiser, a good article.
  • Australia Hawkeye7 (submissions) has the highest overall bonus points, as well as the highest scoring article, thanks to his work on Enrico Fermi, now a good article. The biography of such a significant figure to the history of science warrants nearly five times the normal score.
  • Chicago HueSatLum (submissions) claimed bonus points for René Vautier and Nicolas de Fer, articles that did not exist on the English Wikipedia at the start of the year; a first for the WikiCup. The articles were eligible for bonus points because of fact they were both covered on a number of other Wikipedias.

Also, a quick mention of British Empire The C of E (submissions), who may well have already written the oddest article of the WikiCup this year: did you know that the Fucking mayor objected to Fucking Hell on the grounds that there was no Fucking brewery? The gauntlet has been thrown down; can anyone beat it?

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hello

Hello, thanks for your review for Template:Did you know nominations/Carlos López Estrada, I didn't know that another editor replaced some information, would you be kind enough to review it again?. Thanks. Jaespinoza (talk) 18:52, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Ed Koch

As a gay New Yorker I find WaltCip's comparison of Koch with a drunken killer offensive, but Koch doesn't seem to have had a boyfriend either. μηδείς (talk) 23:24, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Jorge Alfaro

Hi Muboshgu. There's no need to delete the page at Jorge Alfaro in order for you to write an article on him - simply go to the page, edit as normal, remove the redirect code and add your text. Since the page has a fairly extensive history, deleting it without a good reason isn't appropriate. Yunshui  13:57, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

If that was changed through consensus, then why do all the players you mentioned, Nady, Wang, Pena, Guzman, Albaladejo, and Ramirez have 2009 WS Champ on their pages? — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiHogan654 (talkcontribs) 17:06, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

They shouldn't. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:19, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
I removed the note from the pages of Nady, Wang, Albaladejo and Ramirez, who weren't on the postseason roster. Guzman and Pena were on the postseason roster, so it's appropriate for their pages. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:24, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Suggestions for AfD

Based on your recent AfD nominations, I would like to offer you some that could also be deleted as well:]
