Block[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.

Request reason:

NZ on screen is a non-profit, non-commercial and public good website. Change user name to Brendaleeuwenberg

Decline reason:

It appears that your only reason for participating in Wikipedia is to promote your own web site; since we don't permit that, and you don't appear to have any other interest in writing the encyclopedia, you don't have a need for an active account at this time. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:51, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You're still not allowed to spam it here. if unblocked, what contributions would you make?  Sandstein  22:32, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If unblocked we would add links to relevant people, films or television programmes that are referenced on NZ On Screen. As noted above, NZ On Screen is a non-commercial public website that supports and celebrates New Zealand film and television. The intention is not to spam, but to provide valid and useful links to additional information for these records (specifically some people and titles). Please feel free to check the site for verification.

Request reason:

My apologies - I noted links from people and titles to IMDB. The NZ On Screen site is considerably more valuable as a reference than IMDB and my assumption was that linking would be beneficial. The content on NZ On Screen is considerably deeper and more relevant than IMDB. Additionally my understanding was that Wikipedia would be interested in links that provide more detail. NZ On Screen content is made available under a Creative Commons licence - would it be permissible in this case to edit the content for people and reference the site accordingly?

Decline reason:

From your tone of voice, it sounds as though this is a role account, which is not allowed either. In addition, what you describe is still promoting the company. — Xclamation point 01:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Promoting a company would be for a context where there is something to be gained from that promotion. I stress again, this is not a commercial or for-profit entity. It is effectively a growing encyclopedia in its own right - one that focusses on NZ film and television titles and people. Accordingly it provides relevant information that is additional to what is provided by Wikipedia. As for me yes, I have a role in that site - I have created it and continue to manage it, but it makes no money and offers only additional context and content to what exists for these listings. I do understand where you're coming from - however I would argue that what is offered on NZ On Screen is as valuable as that offered by Te Ara (which is accepted as a valid link) and way more valuable than IMDB (which also seems to be a valid link)

Decline reason:

Please see the guideline on external links - users generally shouldn't add links to their own websites. If you believe your site has merit, please create a new account and suggest its inclusion on an appropriate talk page or at Wikipedia:WikiProject External links. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 10:09, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spamming, as we define it, does not only apply to for-profit entities. Please see this section on our spam guideline. Furthermore, you have a clear conflict of interest. Unless you intend to contribute to the encyclopedia in ways other than referencing / linking to / mentioning your site, you will likely remain blocked. Also please note that usually we will protect a talk page after repeated use of the {{unblock}} template has resulted in repeated declines. Long story short: you won't be allowed to promote your site— no matter what argument you make. So, if you wish to make another unblock request (likely your final one), I would highly suggest only doing so to state how you wish to contribute to the encyclopedia and to state that you will not continue to engage in your prior behavior. — slakrtalk / 10:11, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
