Uss shasta

Hi, I appreciate your comments and edit. It's actually true. The crew was cited for exactly these things. However, most of them are in Navy records from the 70s through the 90s, which I have no idea how to access. I also have this from 3 of the ship's captains. I cited to the crew list, and the comments bear this out. However, if it doesn't seem neutral, although I think it's 100% factual, please feel free to rewrite -- the problem could be my poor prose.... Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.79.36.100 (talk) 07:59, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, your message seems to have been misdirected, as I haven't edited USS Shasta. However, looking at the recent edits I would have to advise that unsourced statements of opinion such as "they distinguished themselves", "truly the finest sailors in the Navy", and "their record of unparalleled performance" would have to be removed or, if supported by published statements, reworded to something like "the crew were described by ... as ..." and adding the reference to show where this was published. If it wasn't published but only came by word of mouth, then it can't be included. No Wikipedia article should make it appear as if the writers of the article are inserting their own opinions. Hope this makes it clearer: Noyster (talk), 09:56, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Economy of Wales

The ref you tried to add to Economy of Wales (http://appsso.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/nui/submitViewTableAction.do) shows no data, and returns "Invalid session: xtDataset is null." on one browser and "HTTP 500 error" on another. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:52, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

@David Biddulph:Thank you, I have amended the link and you should now find it works: Noyster (talk), 18:12, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
No. It's now a different error: "Eurostat - Important legal notice - v3.1.11-20151028-5608-PROD_EUROBASE - DATA-EXPLORER_PRODmanaged22 - Session invalid! - Sorry, your session has expired or you have not started the Data Explorer through a nonvalid entry point or no parameter set."" --David Biddulph (talk) 19:25, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
The EUROPA server is temporarily unavailable The link certainly worked yesterday and I expect it will soon work again: Noyster (talk), 19:38, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
The "The EUROPA server is temporarily unavailable" has been the response all week from the appsso.eurostat.ec.europa.eu address which Taoiseach had been using as a reference name (as distinct from a reference url). The "... Session invalid ..." response which I gave above is was what I get from your current http://appsso.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/nui/show.do . It is often difficult to find a working url for the result from a database search on a website. - David Biddulph (talk) 22:27, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
OK, final shot: I've now linked the reference to the main Eurostat database tree, with instructions on navigating to the required table. If you know of a more satisfactory way of providing a reliable link, please feel free to change it accordingly: Noyster (talk), 10:21, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Can you translate this?

Hi Noyster! You're listed on WP:Translators available. Would you be able to translate the lead (only five paragraphs!) of South American dreadnought race into Spanish for that Wikipedia? It's a notable article in modern Argentine and, to a lesser extent, Chilean history, and no one's gotten to it in the three years it has been online.

Related tangent: if you haven't tried the content translation beta feature, it makes translating much easier. Thank you! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 02:00, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@The ed17:Fine article and thanks for the invite. I've made a stub at es:Carrera armamentista naval sudamericana, but I think the people listed at Category:Translators en-es or another Spanish-speaking editor could make a better job of it, as it's normally considered best to translate into your own native or near-native language. I do find Content Translation very useful: Noyster (talk), 14:44, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Sonu gowda

Hi, Please allow the changes for Sonu gowda's personal life as it might affect her career. Thank u Ashwinilohit (talk) 08:17, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

@Ashwinilohit: I am replying to your enquiry about the article on Sonu. Please bear in mind that Wikipedia aims to publish any information that is true, can be verified, and is significant enough to publish in a world encyclopedia. Subject to these conditions, we do not allocate paramount importance to the interests and preferences of the subject of a biographical article or of their associates: "might affect their career" is not among our criteria. It is common to include the name of a spouse. However, as another editor appears to have agreed to omit the information in this case, I shall not insist on reinstating it. Thomas More edit

Sorry for the lack of edit comment in the reversion I made to Thomas More. I removed the Al-Farabi paragraph because that it had nothing to do with Thomas More. At most, it merits a mention in the Utopia (book) article, and then probably only if some kind of connection can be established - like showing that More had read Al-Farabi. Colorado Caucus entry

I'm very new to posting on Wikipedia, appreciated most of the changes in this entry I started.

However there are a few points that I don't like, is there a way for me to tell which changes you made, which might have been others? I'd prefer to reach an understanding rather than have to monitor continual changes, but I'm not sure if that's how things are done.

Big problem, Reference to Denver Post article about GOP skipping Presidential race, which is not at all the case. It is very misleading should be either deleted or fully explained, in my opinion.

I'm passionate about the Colorado Caucus because it is clear to me it's the best chance the average person has of serving in elected public office, substantiated in a couple of recent books which I'll add to the reference section.

Thanks for any light you can give this Wikipedia newcomer.

John Wren, Denver Colorado (303)861-1447 — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnSWren (talkcontribs) 03:10, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Greetings John and thanks for creating this needed article. First, you can always check the page history to see any changes to the article, and if you put it on your watchlist it is easier to see when any new edits have been made.
I have put back the reference to the "Why Iowa?" book, with amendments to format, as it's good to include a published positive view of caucuses to counterbalance the negatives; although bear in mind that that book did not appear to be studying Colorado specifically. A published argument referring to any benefits of the Colorado caucus might be better.
Finally about the 2016 Republican non-binding caucus, this was reported widely, not just in the one report I cited. If you consider all these newspapers made a mistake, that claim itself would have to have been published in a credible source. Thing is we don't ever put our own opinion into Wikipedia articles - that gets dismissed as "original research". Oh, and please sign your talk page posts with the ~~~~. Hi Noyster. I've been looking at the article's history from a third-party. I think the last one you reverted on the article might just be the same person. (N0n3up (talk) 00:21, 17 February 2016 (UTC))

You're probably right N0n3up. At present it's only a minor nuisance, and if we both keep watching the article we can keep a lid on it: Noyster (talk), 09:18, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

"Pisco is unique, Pisco is Peru" Pisco1630 (talk) 03:00, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

I am trying to update information in a WIKIPEDIA page containing wrong information about Pisco. I do not understand your message. You are disseminating wrong information and lying to users. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pisco1630 (talkcontribs) 03:24, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Pisco1630, if you give correct information with a source, then your edits will be retained. If you continue to try to remove all reference to Chile as a producer of pisco, then your edits will be reverted and your account may be blocked: Noyster (talk), 09:08, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for not blocking me. We will add information including sources, by the way we added one and you simply deleted it. Your affirmation about Chile as a producer of Pisco is wrong and it could be a legal action for that. Chile usurped the Pisco name from Peru and put this name to its spirit, that is quite different from the original and unique Peruvian drink. Try and enjoy it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pisco1630 (talkcontribs) 15:55, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Pisco1630: Editors are instructed not to make legal threats on Wikipedia. I advise you strongly not to repeat such statements. Please take your trade dispute elsewhere and do not remove well-sourced information from Wikipedia articles: Noyster (talk), 17:08, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

I have to clarify that this is not a trade dispute and I am sorry but I noticed WIKIPEDIA has bias sources on this matter. Millions of WIKIPEDIA users will not be happy for this.
