Elizabeth, my apologies for those ridiculous comments on your userpage. I have reported the editor to the proper authorities. Happy editing, Drmies (talk) 05:54, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi, you're involved in the edits over this article's external links. I brought the situation up at WP:ELN for discussion, you're welcome to give your view of the situation there if you'd like. ThemFromSpace 16:26, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Reversion?

Hi, I didn't mean to revert anything. All I did was alter the lead, as it was crap, and added a more direct link to the hit list referenced in "see also", however my browser's been playing tricks on me today, and skipping over the reversion in conflict, so sorry if that';s happened again. --rm 'w avu 02:04, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

No worries. I should have assumed good faith on your part, since your revert was almost immediate. No harm done. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 02:23, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

It is a laughable and quite absurd accusation. I am happy to help you speak up. I doubt it'll go any further than it already has, and will probably be closed and discarded soon. I was actually accused of being "Wiki libs" once; but the user never made a case of it, so all I got was a good laugh. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 22:18, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

There are many quotes. Read the top of the page. The quotes that i deleted are insignificant. The Allmusic review is clearly cited. Neal Pollack

Hi Nymf, I'm reviewing your various edits to my contributions right now. One that I think I can improve upon and make alright with you is Neal Pollack's profile. You deleted the category of American Atheists because it was unsourced. I went back to the page, added a Personal Life section where I stated he was an atheist and cited it from a direct link to The Onion, and then added the category of American atheists.

Please let me know if you have any additional thoughts. I'm new on Wikipedia so I'm trying to do things correctly and appreciate when people politely steer me in the right direction if I'm making mistakes.

Thanks so much! JohnnyGerms (talk) 04:36, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

The Onion is a parody website! It is not a reliable source, as it is all made up. As for your other source (the atheist one), it's all user provided content, hence not reliable either. Thanks. Nymf talk/contr. 11:51, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Bands nationality flags

Hi. Maybe you can't imagine, but for us non-English native speakers (I'm from there) it's almost impossible to understand if an English-speaker is from Great Britain, or from United States, or from Australia, or whatever. We just cannot know it immediately. Seein' the nationality flag into the box would get it easier. Could you insert'em again? Thanx --Larry.europe (talk) 12:17, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

No, since the guidelines says they do not belong there. You'll have to discuss it at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_(icons) if you disagree. Thanks. Nymf talk/contr. 12:24, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Don't Stop Believin'

Hi there. Saw you made a contribution in reverting a recent addition of the prog rock genre. I would ahve said no myself, but the Journey article calls them prog, so they may have a point. I just wanted to encourage you, as I did Colchester121891, to go to the talk page and defend you edit. Call this edit war prevention. --Leodmacleod (talk) 01:08, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

I am not looking to edit war at all, but any user jumping around changing/adding genres will end up being reverted, as the changes are usually to fit their point of view. If this other user would like to discuss the change, go for it. Nymf talk/contr. 01:20, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
For anyone else reading this, see the guidelines on the status quo. Nymf talk/contr. 20:12, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi there again! Thanks for the info on status quo. In the future, it might be more helpful in you left a message line for the editor being reverted. That way they don't get the impression that their impute is being treated as vandalism or the like, especially with an in-experienced editor, like Colchester121891, who might be discouraged from future edits. Thanks again, and happy editing! --Leodmacleod (talk) 22:49, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Removing external links

Good day,

I understand that Wikipedia is not to be used as a form of advertisement or promotions, and I could see how someone could easily confuse my posting of the external links to this site, but Global Hit Music is a credible website. It showcases artists from around the world, and in no way shape or form am I trying to promote the site. The site is only about 4 months old and we are already receiving over 30k hits a day with more than half being global, so as you can see the site does well on its own. I was just simply getting a way for the artists' fans to check them out on my site. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to see your favorite artist on a brand new site?

I will be looking for your response.

Thank you,

Miguel —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cesperfromdade (talkcontribs) 21:33, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

FYI, I unprotected the redirect. On reflection, notability does need to be determined at AfD. Regards. --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 20:44, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

It is sourced in a range of media. Yes it is silly, but is mentioned briefly with a quote from Gaga herself. Please provide evidence of a WP:CONSENSUS for not including this.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:22, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

It has been discussed thoroughly here, here, here and here. Thanks. Nymf talk/contr. 16:27, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
I would have to disagree, as it looks like airbrushing. These debates were some time in the past.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
That first link I provided was an ongoing discussion from August 8 to October 20. That is hardly just "airbrushing", and if anything it should tell you that it's a controversial topic. It was then revisited in December and early January with still no consensus to include it. Nymf talk/contr. 16:36, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
"Controversial" is one of those wonderful Wikipedia words for hoping that some things will go away. This one will not, so I hoped that a brief but serious mention would suffice. I really can't see the problem here. It is not in any way attempting to denigrate Gaga and is giving her own words on the subject.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:42, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Even so, being that it has been purposefully kept from the page, it should be done through the talk page (which I see you are doing now). Nymf talk/contr. 16:52, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

HTTP redirect not broken

Please don't "Fix" HTTP redirects, as you did to Shining (Swedish band), the old links had more history in the Internet Archive. See WP:CHECKLINKS#Do not "fix" redirects. — Dispenser 15:59, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I see you are the author of the tool. How come the option is there if it's frowned upon? Thanks. Nymf talk/contr. 16:09, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
The software is currently in the middle of a redesign and some of the features from the old version have yet to be removed; such as the Headers & Redirect analysis which assists me in creating the heuristics for the tool. Previously, there was a one click feature, but it now been replace added a box informing users about redirects with a link to the documentation section. Finally, the "replace link" option exists is since users requested to be put back in so they could manually replace a link with one from the Internet Archive or other. — Dispenser 03:33, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Sylvester Stallone

And why in the world isn't that a reliable source when he says it him self in the video?! Niceley —Preceding unsigned comment added by Niceley (talkcontribs) 02:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

First of all, it's a video just taken on the street. He may just as well have been joking around. It should be taken with a grain of salt. Besides, quoting one source is hardly "numerous times", nor is your sentence (e.g. the "love" part) very encyclopedic. If you can find a source that shows him supporting Palin, and you include the context of it all, then it might be included. Nymf talk/contr. 02:54, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Soundgarden

Hi,

Just wondering why you reverted my Soundgarden edit? I'm new to Wiki editing, but I know my stuff about Soundgarden, so perhaps you can help me with referencing (I'll look this up too). I found the following citations:

http://web.stargate.net/soundgarden/articles/kerr_4-8-89.shtml

Italic textThe name Soundgarden ("Not intentionally meant to throw people off," laughs Kim) is supposed to represent the many roots of the group's style, a virtual plethora of cutting edge rock that spans Sabbath, Velvet Underground, Meat Puppets and Killing Joke

http://web.stargate.net/soundgarden/articles/sounds_5-13-89.shtml

Kim: "When we started the band we were all listening to hardcore and new wave: The Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Husker Du, Joy Division, Wire, Killing Joke, Bauhaus

(New Wave being another term for Post Punk)

http://www.vh1.com/news/articles/1538792/story.jhtml Killing Joke -- "Requiem" from Killing Joke (1980)

This song changed my understanding of what rock and punk music was. When you're a kid in Seattle, you're pretty much going to be a metal kid - that's just the way it is. Then when I discovered punk I was into Seattle bands like the Fartz, who had 16-second songs that were aggressive and insane. It was unapologetic hardcore speed-punk. But when I heard Killing Joke, there were metal elements in there, but it had nothing to do with metal, really. Killing Joke was kind of a template that we used when we formed Soundgarden. Music could be hard, but have nothing to do with commercial metal.

Can find any amount of other citations...

PS: The Gang of Four / Soundgarden link is a very tenuous IMO.

Cheers,

Soundgardener Soundgardener (talk) 15:05, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

I do not understand your rational for deleting the image I uploaded of Layne Staley. I took the picture myself. I may have been mistaken with the date. I think it was after the Grammy Awards in 1997. Christian Bale

Hello there-

Apologies for going over old ground, I tried to find the relevant discussion regarding Bale's nationality, but couldn't find it. Could you refer me to it, please? I don't understand the reasoning behind calling him exclusively "English" when in fact he was born Wales, at least making him "British".

It strikes me as rather crude making one distinction or another, whether it be "Welsh" or "English".

Many thanks.

Jrollnick (talk) 14:43, 8 March 2010 (UTC) JR 07/03/10

Hi, no problem. He seems to self-identify as English, which is why we word it like that rather than Welsh or British. See the discussions here, here, here, here, here and here. Nymf hideliho! 14:57, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Alicia Keys

Sorry, i can understand the bad spelling, but why did you remove my edit like that? Wikipedia is built on cooperation, so why it isn't possible to try and correct it so that it will give reliable and useful informations? Billboard is the most reliable source in record sales and if Keys' albums are included in the magazine's recap of the most successfull albums of the decade, this should be said! And by the way, ask Billboard what they mean for "successfull"!! i didn't do the list! --Anthony Wilde (talk) 21:17, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't have time to fix people's mistakes, nor do I see the word successful used anywhere in the links that you provided. Either way, since you are quoting a list (which is not fact), you'll have to use quotation marks when referring to the list; e.g., '... all her first three albums are in the "Name of the List Here".' Also, don't use Wikipedia for referencing. Nymf hideliho! 21:29, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I restored the notability tag to that page (which I didn't originally include, BTW). From what I've seen, it's never been established that this character is deserving of an article independent of the books or TV series. By comparison, see the article for Blair Waldorf. With regard to your comment that she's notable because it's an award-winning TV show, should every character from an award-winning show be given an article? I just thought that the foundation for creating/maintaining articles was notability from sources. 4.249.84.13 (talk) 08:14, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Apparently you have ownership issues which is pretty weird because this is a little nothing of an article. It simply isn't that important to me. If you're determined to keep it small and poorly written then, by all means, you're welcome to do that. I won't edit it any further. By the way, you should try improving it, rather repeatedly reverting my edits. Lechonero (talk) 02:36, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

WP Martail Arts Review

As spring cleaning, the WPMA group is reviewing the articles in Category: Martial arts. We have close to 10,000 articles with various justifications to being in the category. The fiction Ninja [1] were un-controversial to remove. Some actors have editors who feel strongly about their MA skills. Brandon Lee is clearly famous as an actor playing MA roles.

From Wikipedia:Category, "It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories." I don't see in the article any references to his personal martial arts skills.

I have no intention to have a protracted edit war: please consider Wikipedia:Category and follow your best judgement! jmcw (talk) 12:07, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Jet Li, yes, I see a difference - there is mention of personal MA skills: "Li won his first national championship for the Beijing Wushu Team." It would be of course better with a reference<g>. I will be more moderate with the actors. But "Actor ABC earned a blue belt with white tassels when he was 8..." shall know my wrath. I wish you Good Editing! jmcw (talk) 13:26, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Policy

Okay, let's talk. :) Pretty much all of the material being challenged is in violation of WP:N and WP:INDISCRIMINATE, as it fails to establish notability and does not discuss the reception and significance of those characters. This has been the case for years. If you're going to restore this material, the burden will lie with you to establish its notability. I've opened discussion on those pages and cited policy. These character articles are better suited to sites like Wikia, being largely original research and non-notable. Thanks. -- James26 (talk) 05:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

No, the problem isn't the articles themselves, but the lack of sources in them. Big difference, or you'd be redirecting 95% of the fictional characters on Wikipedia. Either way, you've been obsessed with these articles for months as those 4.*.*.* IPs. If you disagree with the consensus that was established through AfD, open another one. Thanks. Nymf hideliho! 06:19, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
If I'm reading the policy right, articles shouldn't be created in the first place unless the subjects already have significant notability ("notability determines whether a topic merits its own article"). I admittedly didn't notice the AfD when I made those redirects, so I shouldn't have said the burden was yours alone. Sorry about that. -- James26 (talk) 06:45, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Deleted subpage retrieval

Not sure if you do these types of requests or not but one of my subpages was deleted and I would like you to email it to me if you can. At the time I didn't know about creative commons rights and by writing lyrics to my page I released them to commons and because of this my subpage was deleted. I decided to keep it there until I found a suitable site for hosting if the need be but decided to keep it there for the meantime. Can you recover it at User:CircafuciX/Lyrics for me and email me it? Golden Raspberry Awards

I just noticed a sequence of edits adding and removing a template for the Golden Raspberry Awards. It mentions that those templates have already gone through the deletion debate. But, out of format, there is no link to the deletion debate. All of those should be archived. Lindsay Lohan Filmography & Wallstowalls90

I don't think the editor was using "hardcoded tables" as you put in your edit summary. I think s/he was reconstructing the table one row at a time. I, too, noticed the problem and was about to revert it at an earlier point, but then I realized what the editor was doing. The editor has been advised in the past not to do it this way but to use the sandbox. Alternatively, the editor could add the new information one row at a time, keeping the rest of the table intact. I put all this on the editor's talk page, but I'm not sure if the s/he reads it. Anyway, the editor's progress was painfully slow, and your reversion was probably a good idea because of the ongoing incomplete state of the table.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:58, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Image Deletions

I feel that your deletion of some images I posted was completely unjust. I posted the proper licensing tags on each of the images as per the requirements. Furthermore, you proceeded to delete the images without me explaining my side on why they should stay. - Areaseven (talk) 04:34, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

I wasn't the one who deleted the images, only the nominator, but they all failed §1 of the WP:NFCC criteria. Nymf hideliho! 09:00, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Elaborate on why they failed the NFCC criteria. As I had mentioned, I posted the proper licensing tags as per the requirements. Furthermore, I work directly with the band's management so therefore, I have permission to post those images. - Areaseven (talk) 03:15, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
They clearly fail the criteria as a free equivalent can be obtained. I think a free one even exists, in some cases. You cannot just slap that license on any image. By the way, in light with that message, I suggest you proceed very carefully when editing these articles as per WP:COI. Nymf hideliho! 09:31, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

There has been a genre changer at the page, which you reverted once. The person in the edit summary stated that his assertion of the band being avant-garde metal has been properly sourced, albeit without the person supplying a source. His/her assertion of the band being experimental metal remains unsourced, but I have something else to talk about here. I have noticed that the article has contradicting text within itself. In the infobox's genre field, the invisible text blatantly states that Agalloch is not an avant-garde metal band, while in the "style" section, Agalloch is stated to perform "a progressive and avant-garde style of folk metal..."; both "progressive" and "avant-garde" have sources backing up the respective genre assignments. What do you think should be done about that? Thanks. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 22:16, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

I do not say they are true or not (of course I've no idea), and make clear that they are allegations. The 'R' word is never used. Yet, any mention of these public allegations either in the Discussion or on Assange's main entry gets deleted. However, unfounded smears and attacks against his alleged victims (reference supported by only by a single blog in the Sates) are allowed to remain. Edmond Black (talk) 06:55, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Robert Pattinson Table Discussion

Can you please weigh in on the current discussion at Talk:Robert_Pattinson#Filmography_-_sortable_vs._nonsortable? As I understand it, WP:ACCESS mentions the issue of color, but not the issue of sortability. It would be nice to have some consensus on this because the use of tables with colors is fairly common at Wikipedia, and the issue of whether a table should be sortable or not seems to be up to the judgment of the editors - I've found no clear policy on it.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:08, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Table font sizes

Hi, I noticed that you recently reverted a table font size format (here) and wondered if there was a consensus you were referring to. If the format was on a rationale of better table layout then it is specifically mentioned as a reasonable change at Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(text_formatting)#Font_size. I'm not particularly worried about the edit in question but I sometimes set special style parameter myself when laying out a table to be consistent in an article. Thanks, (talk) 14:25, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. Not consensus per se, but WP:Deviations states that "In general, styles for tables and other block-level elements should be set using CSS classes, not with inline style attributes. This is because the site-wide CSS is more carefully tested to ensure compatibility with a wide range of browsers; it also creates a greater degree of professionalism by ensuring a consistent appearance between articles." Thanks! Pinkadelica 02:19, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

You recently removed a picture I added to the article, Julian Assange, with the edit summary "no need to stuff the article with images, especially when it is dated wrong". Can you explain why you think three pictures is too many for this article? My caption was incorrect, with the picture being taken four days before the start of 2010. --Banana (talk) 22:43, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Look at the size of the article. That extra 3rd picture adds no value whatsoever. See Wikipedia:Layout#Images. "You should always be watchful not to overwhelm an article with images by adding more just because you can." Nymf hideliho! 23:37, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Any reason you think three images is overwhelming/stuffing the article? I flipped through some featured articles and they seem to have a picture or two per section. As for the value of the picture, I think the two articles in the picture have similarly odd lighting that causes his face to appear more angular and makes him look angry. I thought the third picture was a nice balance, as all of his face is in the light and he is smiling. I much prefer the third image to the non-lead image currently in the article. --Banana (talk) 00:14, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Like I said, it is a small article, and I do not believe that the image adds any new value to the article. It was taken less than 6 months after the other picture, and less than 3 months before the image in the lead. The image is also blurred and I would say even slightly out of focus. Oh, and here is Assange asking for that image you are referring to not be used. Nymf hideliho! 00:30, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for posting the link to that discussion. Assange trying to change the images in the article to create a certain impression of himself makes me more convinced of the importance of having balanced images. I disagree, but this really isn't worth discussing anymore. Cheers. --Banana (talk) 00:58, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Steve Clark (Def Leppard) played Gibson guitars exclusively during his career, the main one being a classic Gibson Les Paul Standard. He also used a Gibson Firebird and the twin neck Gibson EDS 1275, referred to onstage by Joe as the Gibson 18-string Razor. [1]. He used on High 'n' Dry world tour a Gibson Explorer made out of Honduran mahogany.[2] His primary axes on the Pyromania world tour were a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Gibson Les Paul XR-1. During Hysteria world tour he used Gibson “Dirty Fingers” mounts on his Gibson models such as W-neck Gibson EDS 1275 and Gibson Firebird.[3] [4]. --Therein8383 (talk) 19:33, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Sockpuppet

I've just received a message that apparently (I'm not sure, because it's very confusing) links me, I believe, with accusations for sockpuppetry, mainly addressed towards a user named Vanessa998 or something like that. The accusations are pending since January 2009, according to what I read at least, but I just received the message. The accusation refers to a certain IP address. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles 05:28, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Your edit summary here can be read as I having left a death threat, which is obviously untrue, and can be perceived as an WP:UNCIVIL attack on me as a result. Prayer bump

Hi, regarding the lowly prayer bump. It is not a major issue to me, but someone took the trouble to author this piece, and you took the trouble to tag it, so it bears discussion. There seems to be something about the wording of this article to which you take exception. That's OK. But the nature of your tag puzzles me.

If every article on Wikipedia that used the words "some" and "other" were tagged, I am certain the servers would melt down somewhere. And those particular words are more vague than weasily. So I am puzzled by your tags, and I can't help but think you have something you wish to express, some aspect of the article about which you have a strong feeling but are reluctant, or perhaps too busy, to put into words.

If that is the case, and I suspect I am right here, then I challenge you to correct the error, omission or oversight you see in the lowly prayer bump article, or revert your tags and leave it in peace.

In a situation such as this, such tags left on an isolated unprotected article such as this one might be construed as a form of defacement. I am certain that is not your intentions.

Regards, -Aquib (talk) 02:00, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your message. I have no real opinion or knowledge of the actual subject of the article, and I certainly do not wish to cause any harm. Personally I believe tags such as that can be helpful, as people will see it and expand or elaborate upon the statement or section that is being questioned. For example, "Some devout muslims may consider..." could be switched to "Sunni Muslims may consider..." (if that's the case, I do not know), and the sentence would be a lot less vague and more informative. Feel free to remove the tag if you'd like though; I won't take offense. Cheers. Some things I would like to discuss

1. First of all, I think Larry_King should go under the category:[Category:American_people_of_Belarusian-Jewish_descent] because it says in the article that his parents emigrated from Belarus and they were Jewish. Also I think Peter_Douglas and Eric_Douglas should go under that category as since their father Kirk_Douglas is listed under that category as well. 2. I think it should be noted in the Alexandra_Powers article that her mother is Katharyn_Powers and was a writer for variety of TV series. Also I think in the Katharyn_Powers article these links should be added: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0584251/ http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Katharyn_Powers http://www.moviefone.com/celebrity/katharyn-powers/2035049/main http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Katharyn_Powers In the Alexandra Powers article I created I found a website that says she is in Scientology.
