Alaska panhandle merger
Hey, we seem to have left the Alaska panhandle NRHP list-article merger discussion unfinished. By my reading, there was consensus for regrouping Alaska boroughs into state sections, but then we didn't implement it i guess, or it was undone. Could you please comment, if you have further info, at Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in the Alaska Panhandle, otherwise i believe i or someone should implement the Alaska division into 5 sections, which was the consensus by my read. Carter Cutlery logo removal

Stained Glass Copyrights
I had the opportunity over the weekend to look at a variety of stained glass -- six different studios including both Charles Connick and Louis Tiffany, all created between 1900 and 1960. None of them had copyright notices. The Tiffany glass carried a typeset signature "TIFFANY STUDIO" about 1/2" high. The others were all script scrawled with a sharp point about 1/4" high -- hard to see even up close and personal. I keep on seeing various categories of mine coming up for deletion or being deleted because they are "empty". Which is funny, because when they're created, they're usually not empty.

In reply - Neil Bennett was formerly in Category:Manx rugby union players, which someone took upon themselves to remove from the article in question. I have since had to recreate this category, since you deleted it.
This is not the first time this has happened. For example, someone took umbrage to the fact I had categorised Abba Ahimeir, and others under Category:Israeli Fascists. This was renamed to Category:Fascists of British Palestine (fair enough, given it was pre-independence), and then deleted as empty by User:Anthony Appleyard!!! This is in spite of the fact that the people in question openly took inspiration from Mussolini, and described themselves as Fascist. Maybe the past is an uncomfortable place for some people, but we shouldn't hide it.

Log cabins
Your question from awhile ago has stayed in my mind - I'm no expert on log cabins, but his area is said to be the home of the American log cabin. See File:MortonsenCabin.JPG for old (1600s), well fitting joints (unusual), 3 part structure with a wavy roof. In part I was reminded by File:Schorn Log Cabin.JPG by the same builder. Some of the covered bridge articles I have gotten to FA are not a lot longer than the Maria Stein church article. I can usually tell if I am going to get something to FA - I get what I can only describe as obsessed with it. Usually I am able to find enough material on it, though in some cases I am still looking. I think it is like St. Paul and the different gifts - everyone contributes in their own way and it takes everyone to make the encyclopedia. Ruhrfisch><>°° 02:31, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Just changing out word "renowned" to something used in the NRHP nom (assuming that is not actually used there) would probably make it fly for me. Hey, i don't think that "renowned" or "known" by the public is at all supported in the NRHP document. There's no evidence that anyone besides some staff doing a very local survey know anything about this place. Is it even known, by the public, that the place exists, or is NRHP-listed? But I don't want to argue, and i certainly don't want to torpedoe the dyk. By my commenting at first i was trying to be helpful to move it along for you, but it seems unhelpful for me to comment there further. Could you possibly ask someone else to follow up? Hey, i see, and am glad, that a DYK went through for McClelland. Also nice job with Turpin Site. I have absolutely never tried for a DYK with an archeological site; it looks hard to do a nice article like u managed there.
Update: About the same-name-same-county ones, i am still accumulating those here, including adding a Knox Cty, Ohio pair today. The dab created for that pair of nearby, apparently similar homes, is, essentially, a placeholder in lieu of creating articles or just one combo article about the pair of them. The placeholder prevents someone from accidentally creating an article about just one of them, unaware of the other, and it has merit of not being a stub article. As more have been turning up as i progress through NRHP dab cleanups, i am inclined to finish the NRHP dab cleanup and then raise the formatting issue question(s) for central discussion. This note just to let u know i haven't forgotten, and also to say that I am not fixed on how these should be done, despite my proceeding with one way of doing them pending discussion. cheers, :) --doncram (talk) 20:38, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I've corrected the problem. The issue was that (1) I misread the source, and (2) I forgot to place the citation to ref name=inventory after the hook statement. I've added the source and corrected the text accordingly. As a matter of fact, the statement is true; if you're interested, look at the images in Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches and you'll see the difference between this church and the others. Construction Business Owner and Pumps and Systems deletion
Hi, I tried making pages for the magazines "Construction Business Onwer" and "Pumps and Systems". The "Construction Business Owner" page was deleted for being a "non notable low circulation trade magazine" and "Pumps" was deleted for the same reason. If I tried to make pages for these magazines again, how should I go about writing them to where they are suitable for Wikipedia? If I may, maybe you're only looking at the previews of the template revisions, which look fairly similar. The template that was discussed in the TfD had the content [{{{1|{{{External URL}}}}}} {{{2|External link}}}], and it was deleted since it was an extremely trivial markup wrapper. Tothwolf's template was a 2k monster with lots of options, judging by the doc page, to which the reasoning from the TfD does not apply. I never figure out how to do info boxes, etc. so I just do the basic article with citations knowing sooner or later someone will add the boxes. My apologies Morenooso for any confusion, etc. I may had caused you with the way I create articles. Do you know whether or not Barnesville High School is within the corporation limits of Barnesville, Ohio? Also, how about Olney Friends School? I'm not sure where the corporation limits are exactly, but I have Quaker relatives who live really close to that school and the old Quaker Meeting House. Both the High School and the Olney Friends School have Barnesville mailing addresses, though that might not necessarily mean they are within the village's corporation limits. Anyway, I was just wondering. Well, next time I'm there I'll look to see where the official village corporation limit sign is located in relation to these two places. Yeah, Hookstown may be the nearest borough, but the house is about 6.8 miles from Hookstown, and only 1.2 miles from Harshaville (according to Google Maps). The house is only 0.6 miles to Mechanicsburg, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, but that community doesn't have a Wikipedia page to link to (yet), so I thought to link to the closest community that had a page (Harshaville) so that other people might have an easier time finding it (if they are interested in going there and seeing the house from the road, since it is on the National Register of Historic Places). I guess that's why I want to be so specific, and I try to include the most accurate coordinates and information along with the pictures I take. Those coordinates should be correct, because it should put you right on top of the house when using satellite view on Google Maps. Leepaxton (talk) 22:00, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, just using the township seems somewhat general, and using Hookstown doesn't seem accurate enough. Harshaville exists and has a Wikipedia page, but I think I should edit the Harshaville page to say that it's in Hanover Township instead of Raccoon Township, as the page currently claims, because the map seems to indicate it's in Hanover Township. Argh, I shouldn't have initially believed a Wikipedia page without checking things elsewhere, haha! That's what threw me off course to begin with. re: Sackville House
No, I'm not familiar with it. You've piqued my interest in it though. Did you check out East Wheeling? Maybe you did all of this research already...but I checked, and the Olin Fine Arts Center is located at 285 E. Wheeling St. and the Alumni House is at 335 E. Wheeling St.. So, the Sackville House at 309 E. Wheeling would be somewhere between those two buildings. It just so happens that there is a very nice Victorian-style houses between those buildings. If you check googlemaps, it's the grey-roofed one at the intersection of East Lane and East Wheeling. I wonder if that's it. I'll see if I can take a walk down there to see if that's it. Too bad about Sackville House. (I guess that saves me from having to walk all the way down there ;)) Although, it's possible that the National Register has the incorrect house number or address. The register listsMcMillan Hall (Washington & Jefferson College) as being located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. If the Sackville House was listed in the 1976, I am a little skeptical of whether it was really demolished for the Olin Arts Center, which was built in the late 70s/early 80s. Nearest cities
Ruhrfisch and I agreed that the "nearest city" bit in the infobox is unnecessary and removed them from all the state park and forest articles. So many of the parks are so far from an "official city". Need help - a user just made an accusation that I am a meatpuppet
I hope you are up. In this article, Talk:Coffee Party USA, a user I had a confrontation today with made an accusation against me that I am a meatpuppet. See this [2]. I use IE6, XP and am sure if Wikipedia is automatically logging me out or if it's the browser. In the case he cited, I was working on Norman McFarland in my userspace when it logged me out. This happens periodically. I will be editting, issuing a warning or lose my roll-back rights because the of the log-out issue with either IE6 or Wikipedia. user:MookieG did three reverts of a warning issued by another editor on a different user talkpage. MookieG decided to revert three times the warning and upon the third time I issued him a generic standarized 3RR warning. He is retaliating. --Morenooso (talk) 05:03, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Please see the last section I added on the Coffee talkpage. There is another great example of when I got logged out and was in the process of issuing a warning. When I saw that I had been logged out, I logged back and placed/signed my username. My fingers are shaking right now. I can't believe MookieG and another editor is taking him to task on MookieG's page because he too issued MookieG a 3RR warning.
On my talkpage, another editor warned me about MookieG. It appears he is very petty, obstinate and uncivil. Heck, we can be a little uncivil at times but he combines all three to bring out reactions in other editors. In this MookieGDIFF, he accused me of sockpuppetry because Wikipedia logged me out. As per my explanation above, Wikipedia logs me out sometimes in the middle of edits, warning posts or whatever. In that diff, MookieG traced my IP address (due to the system logging me out) to the McFarland article I still have in my userspace. I guess while I was working on that article, the system logged me out. Unfortunately for MookieG, my IP address edit history is not long. It also showed one warning post I remembered as per my posted diff to the Coffee USA talkpage:
One minute I reverted an anon IP, the next the system logged me out and I issued the warning from my IP address not knowing that the system logged me out. But, when I saw the resulting post on the anon IP talkpage, I decided to do "the right thing" or being thorough to log back in and sign my name with tildes.
The trouble with MookieG started because I noticed that he reverted three times a warning left on User talk:TruthfulPerson's talkpage. MookieG tried to claim that his three reverts, shown in this HistoryDIFF, were just one "revert of a disputed non-applicable warning". However, as you can see by the history, it logs his three actions at three different times as "reverted"..
When I noticed MookieG on his talkpage that I had added him to the edit-warring report (THISdiff), he went ballistic on that page and also his talkpage. After a while, I realized that it was futile trying to calm him down and that I should let be WP:COOL.
Sometime during the night the system logged me off and I did a revert on the Coffee USA article. In its talkpageDIFF is where he accused me of sockpuppetry. He said that while he was stewing, he traced my IP back to the McFarland article I worked on in my userspace. In block letters his edit summary crucified me. Unfortunately for MookieG, he didn't know that you knew something about me pushing that article out as my first Wikipedia article.
Coincidently last night, I was working in my userspace (you can check my contribs) on some stuff I am doing as a result of seeing a post Jimbo Wales put on Bianca Jagger's talkpage.
On my talkpage, I documented the conversation I am having on Ged UK who also is an admin. Since it was late at night when I decided to work on Bianca's article, I looked around for an admin I knew who I could discuss the citations I planned. See User_talk:Morenooso#Help_with_Bianca_Jagger_article. I've seen Ged UK around and figured that since Bianca has a UK connection, he would be a perfect critic. In essence after looking at my intended citations and gameplan, he said to proceed and gave me advice to discuss my posts on Jagger's talkpage which I did. I provided 14 citations for various awards she told Jimbo about that he posted to her talkpage. I guess when Jimbo posts, that's all the WP:RS you need - if you get my drift.
Any way, I was at a save point when I decided to look at my Watchlist and saw MookieG's edit summary. Man, oh man, I was livid last night. How dare he retaliate like that! And then in another subsequent post, he asked for an apology. That's when I posted on both Ged UK and your talkpages.
At the same time, another editor on Coffee USA took MookieG to task for WP:OUTING on MookieG's talkpage. See DayewalkerDIFF. As you can from MookieG's subsequent post, he took exception to that too.
The sad thing is Dayewalker earlier gave generic 3RR warning advice to MookieG for more than three edits/reverts on the Coffee USA article. In this postedDIFF, Dayewalker notified him that MookieG was at the 3RR threshold with his actions. MookieG did not take that earlier advice well either as you can see.
Ged UK erased the section on Coffee USA talkpage in this redactedDIFF. Then he gently posted on MookieG's talkpage that MookieG should have WP:AGF. I guess earlier today, MookieG retired his talkpage.
Funny thing is, because you and Ged UK were not around right away as I thought you both might be, I saw Materialscientist, another admin I know. In this myDIFF, I asked him to review my posted section on the Coffee USA talkpage. If after his review, I asked him to block me if he thought I was a sockpuppet. Like you, I consider him a friend and figured that if I was going to get blocked, I'd rather have a friend do it.
I guess he found he innocent per MaterialscientistDIFF. I was very relieved but decided to take the day off and get my mind in good frame before coming back tonight.
I'd like to thank you for your concern and follow-up. As I've told other admins, I expect no quarter from them regardless if we consider each other friends. As an admin, you/they have a job to uphold. Still, it's nice to know good guys are on Wikipedia. --Morenooso (talk) 05:28, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I just noticed you removed a {{db-move}} template from Charles Watson-Wentworth, 2nd Marquess of Rockingham.[3] Can you please clarify if you were objecting to the move, or just making a neutral observation that there was no evidence of consensus?
The background to the move is a little odd as the editor that moved the article promptly replaced it with a redirect on the grounds that, even though it was a sourced article on a British Prime Minister, the subject was "not notable".[4] The original move was against naming convention guidelines (specifically WP:NCBRITPEER) without any prior discussion. Thanks for catching my coding error in Commons:Category:United Brethren Church (Aurora, Nebraska). Just out of curiosity, how on earth did you spot it? I looked at the old version of the page, and there wasn't anything obviously the matter with it; the only consequence of my leaving out the second close-bracket was that the particular supercategory didn't show up on the list.
Glad you spotted the error and fixed it, and embarrassed to have made it.
Congrat'ns on the three soon-to-be-completed counties. I've got a one-site county waiting to edit and upload, but that doesn't count any more, alas. Unfortunately, most of the Nebraska counties with enough sites for a stand-alone list have at least one address-restricted site.

The possessive of a Catholic Church is incorrect as it is informal and usually not the full legal name of the church either as recorded the worldwide church and/or where the nonprofit incorporation documents are filed. Do you know if there is a WYSIWYG editor for Wikipedia? Sometimes when I look at a long article I get lost in the combination of words and references which obscure what I am looking for or at. You recently speedy-deleted File talk:2004 US elections purple counties.png per WP:CSD#G8 (as the image itself has been moved to Commons). However, the file's description box directly mentions the discussion of the image on its talk page, and said discussion is not present on Commons (the discussion page there is a redlink). This would seem to me to fall under the explicit exception to G8: "talk pages for images that exist on Wikimedia Commons". As such, could you please restore the page? Yes, I've noticed this site and it is very, very tempting. You may have noticed that I've had some down time, but that is pretty much over. The dinosaur site is within easy driving distance, and the problem has been only psychological: it's in metro NJ. Image deletion review
The image File:Avey, Denis.jpg was deleted from the article Denis Avey. However, the rationale noted that it was a screen shot and was allowed per fair use for screen shots when they are used in conjunction with critical commentary about the TV show it came from. After that fact was added to the discussion with the original tagger, there was no response, so I assumed they were in agreement that it was OK. Can you check on this? but unfortunately, no bones. This really was the only thing that really jumped out at the site. Mostly it looked like the neighborhood ravines that I played in as a kid. I did discover what is meant by a "Marl pit" - heavy wet clay. There might be some disagreement about including toys in a photo of the site... but I think they fit. At National Register of Historic Places listings in Camden County, New Jersey I'll use something a bit less over the top. At NHLs in NJ.perhaps a nature photo from the bottom of the pit. Advice was good. I'll probably upload another photo from the bottom of the pit to Commons - 2 were "tied" in my estimation. But there is something about the toy dinosaurs at the site that really grabbed me. BTW, in the article, I think 1984 s/b 1934 (for the Boy Scout). If you can get pretty good info on the location of Abbott Farm Historic District near Trenton, I could probably find that, which would pretty much finish off the NHLs in NJ. We have page "X" and page "X (disambiguation)" now: RBE is a redirect to the primary (only) topic, and RBE (disambiguation) is a navigational page that serves no navigational purpose, which is why {{db-disambig}} applies: an orphaned disambiguation page which disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic). The Nutrition for Learning is a charitable organization, not a school, as is stated in the article:
"Nutrtition for Learning is a registered charitable organization located in Kitchener, Ontario Canada. Nutrition for Learning became a registered charitable organization in 1997 and continues to support student nutrition programs in schools..."
It's only sources (and as indicated in the talk page, the only sources I could find) are the webpage's own official page, and a non-profit registration with the Canadian government. Sources I found include twitter and facebook pages, and similar profiles created by the charity itself. Hi, I noticed that you reverted all of my deletion nominations on May 10. Please explain why in more detail. I am fully aware that this is not Wiki-Commons and also know that some files are uploaded directrly to En:Wikipedia instead of just being reflected here from Wiki-Commons itself. All of these deletions were not violating any rights they were merely being done because they were all nonsense images of colonial empires when maps are available that are accurate such as File:The British Empire.png and File:Spanish Empire Anachronous 0.PNG among others. Furthermore, none of those images were being used anywhere and were mostly, if not all, tests back in the day before the master images mentioned previously were created and uploaded and hense have no longer any value of any kind. That was quick. He gets little hits now. I will source what I can but his stuff mostly comes from religious websites. I did find one RS cite but its timeline is off. Stanford Mansion History says "In the late 1950’s, the expense of upkeep led Bishop Alden Bell to write to the governor to suggest the State buy the home to restore." He was in Sacramento until 1962 and probably did not suggest this until 1968 or so (late 60s) because the state bought the Stanford Mansion in 1978. I've been working on two cites that really play into his character or what he tried to do as a bishop. Reading his Sources section URLs, you will see that he helped grow the Sacramento diocese. I'm about to start editting Robert John Armstrong as that is closer to me and I have some cites built up in User talk:Morenooso/Robert John Armstrong. I use the YTrikc_search method to flush up hits and then go to Google to ferret them out. It's all as per on my userpage and previous post. It seems to work well in finding the better articles. I want to see if a good pic of him pops up. I have a slightly bigger one of the diocesan website source. The city of Detroit document is here (the city recently reconfigured their website URL to www.detroitmi.gov). As far as I know, the house is individually designated by the city as a historic property (rather than as part of a district). I'm not sure why the "district" in the URL; it's possibly a misnomer or perhaps a way to signify that the surrounding grounds are also historically important (?). Why did you delete the move template with the comment "We don't move redirects; we simply change their targets"? I'm not moving a redirect. I'm moving North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Aggies to North Carolina A&T Aggies, because the latter page is the more correct name, but is a redirect in the way. The question is does it straddle the line in much the same way that Shippensburg straddles Cumberland and Franklin Counties or is it entirely within Clearfield? WYSWYG editor exists - User:Cacycle/wikEd
Haven't see you around, you must be at a Photofest taking pix again. I found a WYSWYG editor exists within Wikipedia. I recently switched to Firefox Portable because the new Wikipedia change was very slow in loading under IE8. While enabling Twain under the Gadgets tab of My Preferences, I saw a box for wikEd. I have been using it the last two days and it takes a bit to get used to. It puts some big blocks on any page you are editting (which is a minor headache IMHO) but it highlights text, citations, etc. You almost have to see it to believe it. I shrunk my edit box down to about 15 rows to keep everything on screen but that is also a minor pill if you ask me in terms of what you get. It seem to be a lot of bang for the buck. The only thing I don't like is that it offsets the edit box so I can't see the top of my screen where the Twain buttons are. Those buttons are handy for the welcoming function which I do alot of these days - next to looking for my "next great article I can recommend for a DYK". Man, oh man looking for articles is a blast. I float down the page looking for notable ones I can help promote. Thanks again for starting down this road. I am going to really put the wikEd to the test today as I am working on "next great new article" - User:Morenooso/Juan José Carbó workspace. I just saw another bug that happen on NawlinWiki's talkpage. If I grab something to paste into a talkpage like I just did with User:Morenooso/Juan José Carbó workspace, the markup is putting in huge letters. But if this thing works like a WYSIWYG editor, I will put up with minor stuff as I am building Carbó's article differently. I have all the citations offline in a Word doc. I wrote the article in a plain fashion and now am going back to do the citations. In the past as I mentioned to you, see black on black text with huge citation blockcites really wore out my eyes. I like my new method of typing plain text in the workspace article and building the ref offline because then I have it backed up. Firefox has a flaw or two too but it seems to be better than IE8. Firefox, however, sometimes times out too easily and I have lost data in the same manner as IE8. Well, I should be off as I need breakfast and then will commence work on Carbó's article. Would you mind looking at this userspace file I am working on (User:Morenooso/Juan José Carbó workspace)? When I get home tonight, I want to finish off the citations from the Word doc I have offline. Then maybe on Monday you can do the DYK nom for it and perhaps think of some good hooks. It won't be much more than a Start class article unless the YtrikC_search bubbles up newspaper items on him. Mexico is pretty notorious for not being WP:RS if you know what I mean. BTW, one of my buddies at the dinner gave me the same opinion as my mechanic. He thinks the head is warped because he had a Toyota pickup do the same thing mine is doing. He recommended taking it Monday as he said I probably have like three or four more good drives out of it before it konks out. Going to be about a $650 bill. Just what I needed. This has really beat me down as prior to getting the minor treatment, I was hoofing by foot to take the bus places because I knew I didn't want to drive my truck too much until I got my mid-month direct allocation. Now, my first of the month allocation is shot. Two weeks, I didn't play my lotto numbers. First four out of the shoot were mine. That would been $500. My luck lately has been the pits. Ana Maria Canseco's PSA just ran as I am finishing this. WikiProject tagging and Talk pages
Hey, i came across Talkpage-less Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Botkins, Ohio) and went to create a Talk page to add WikiProject NRHP tag and others. It shows you recently deleted the Talk page, though, which gave me pause. How come? I didn't create that one, which would be Talk:Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Botkins, Ohio). I think i have noticed you breaking out NRHP list-articles and not creating Talk pages for them, too, and wonder if that is accident or related. IMO, the WikiProject tagging is helpful and an important part of developing wikipedia; this has been driven home for me recently dealing with unreferenced BLP articles as part of wp:URBLP, where a recent focus has been upon attaching Wikiprojects to otherwise orphaned articles. Got ur note, in which you mentioned "the only edit was a Wildbot notice about a link to a disambiguation page. Upon seeing the note, I fixed the link and deleted the page; if I'd not deleted it, the bot would have noticed the fix and requested a G7 speedy, so there was no damage done by an early deletion." I'm not positive this is the same as what you've encountered, but i've been noticing Wildbot coming around to new pages or just-edited pages to add notice about ambiguous links. If you fix the ambiguous link, Wildbot comes back and just removes the notice. Or if u fix the ambiguous link and delete the Wildbot notice, then Wildbot doesn't come back. Not sure what happens if u just delete the Wildbot notice. Or if there was no Talk page to start with, i see. Then anyhow i would just add the wikiproject tags. About revising tags between Stub to Start, i do that whenever necessary for a DYK nom, but not really otherwise. For adding tags to articles i either use Stub or List if that is obvious, otherwise leaving rating blank. I am totally unclear on Start vs. C vs. other, so could not really help with those ones you're interested in having reviewed. Perhaps you could just delete the current ratings, and that would call attention of others. At Anna Town Hall, i was just trying by my edit there which did nothing to see if "what links here" from Shelby House would update. It did. Other Shelby County template places still show as linking to Shelby House, despite the template having been updated. I guess until they are edited, or i don't know what else. I was just trying to clear the links to the dab page, in part as it showed up in The Daily Disambig. Do you ever follow the Daily Disambig? Can you come to my talk page, all the census images and New York Times public domain images are being renominated for deletion, this time the deleter is claiming the source statement is inadequate. I am not sure if he is demanding some sort of url to a website or is demanding that the source statement be formatted a particular way, maybe you can help sort things out. Links to the NYT archive exist but I think the name of the paper and the date suffice because links always change over the years. The NYT Times archive used to be hosted by Proquest and all those links are now dead. Each image already has the New York Times stamped on it as well as the date in text and on the images themselves. Peterson Blockhouse
Long story, that one. It was removed from Peterson in the 19th c. and converted to a stable on a farm, where it was overtaken by a barn. When the barn was demolished, they found the bottom storey of the blockhouse still intact. It was disassembled and put back in downtown Peterson, the second story was added and a new roof put on. I declined the A7 CSD of this article a few minutes before you deleted it, based on arguments made in a hangon on her single, that argued that she's getting video rotation in her native Germany, and charting high on download charts. Webster County Courthouse (Nebraska)
Thanks for the comment. I found the discrepancy as I was uploading my pictures: I generally check both the NRIS site, via the Elkman tool, and the Nebraska State Historical Society website, when I'm writing my descriptions. The latter gave 1914 as the date. Searched further, and found 1914 given on this USDA website (is that where you obtained the Calvin Beale image?); and, in the notes for an edition of One Of Ours, the statement: "In 1914-15 the frame courthouse that had served Red Cloud and Webster County since 1878 was torn down and replaced by a new three-story cream-and-brown brick structure".
Unfortunately, I didn't find an inscribed cornerstone on the actual building, and I was there on Memorial Day, so I couldn't look for a plaque inside. Also unfortunately, the NSHS hasn't put most of the Webster County nom forms online yet. I will write the person in charge of these things at NSHS and ask her to send me a copy; she's done so several times in the past. Pending that, I suspect that your hypothesis of an older contributing structure is the correct one.
Your hypothesis re. a contributing building was correct—but there's also an apparent error involved. I got a copy of the nom form from the NSHS, and there are two years in the significant-dates column: 1887, the year of construction of the jail and jailer's quarters; and 1914, the year of the courthouse's construction. Looking through the form, I don't see any mention of 1883; I suspect that the date was entered incorrectly into the NRIS.
Thanks for your suggestion that I contact nr_reference. I was preparing to do so when I discovered a complication.
As I mentioned, the nom form lists two significant dates: 1914 and 1887. A closer look revealed that the latter date was in a different font than the rest of the form: probably, from a different typewriter. That leads me to wonder whether the form was originally filled out and submitted with the date 1883, which was then whited out and corrected on the NSHS's copy. Unfortunately, I don't know whether the NSHS submitted the change to the NPS; so the NRIS date may agree with the form that the NPS has on file.
Given all this uncertainty, I won't contact nr_reference until the NSHS has posted the form online. However, I'll note it in WP:NRIS info issues.
The Nebraska State Historical Society is making excellent progress putting nom forms online, but the work isn't yet complete, and most of Webster County isn't up yet. I made a contact at NSHS a while back, and she's told me that she'll e-mail me PDF's of nom forms from time to time, so long as I keep my requests at a reasonable level. That's how I got the one for the Webster County Courthouse. I'm hoping that they'll post the forms for the county soon, since there's a hatful of HD's in Red Cloud, and I need the forms to help me label the pictures I've taken there (and to find out what buildings I still need to photograph).
Congrat'ns on Champaign County. Sympathize with you re. Carl Potter Mound. In Webster County, I investigated Guide Rock, a landform sacred to the Pawnee that gave its name to the nearby town, and that I'm thinking of using to illustrate Pike-Pawnee Village Site. Had there not been a sign, I'd have dismissed it as a moderately steep hill and nothing more. Of course, I lived in southern Arizona for some years, so have pretty high expectations for sacred mountains.
Have just scrawled a note on my list of NRHP sites for Nuckolls County, and with luck will get there before too many months have elapsed. I see that there's a HD in Superior, one of whose boundaries is 5th; so the church might be in or near it.

Casino article deleted
I'm a brand new user who is trying to figure out how to get started. I work for the Oklahoma Tourism Department and I'm trying to help bolster the information available about our cities and tourist attractions. I discovered a category of state parks the other day and was able to help add information about most of the parks listed. That led me to discovering a list of casinos in Oklahoma. The list is incomplete and of the long list that is shown, only three of the casinos linked to articles. I noticed that Winstar Casino (the 3rd largest casino in North America) was on the list but didn't have an article. I also noticed that the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino was missing. So I decided this was a list that could use help and tried to help. I clicked on the first red link - Cherokee Casino (Roland) - and did my best to create an article using the Article Wizard. I included the number of slot machines, the square footage and other factual information. I cited http://www.travelok.com as a reference and added the retrieval date of today. Travelok.com is the official travel and tourism website of the State of Oklahoma. Within a few hours, it was marked for deletion because it was not considered notable. You deleted it before I could even find the message that it had been marked for deletion. I've read the links that I can find about notable businesses and I don't understand why this wouldn't qualify. I want to help provide additional information about Oklahoma's casinos and get the missing ones listed, but I don't want to waste my time. If things are shown in a list or category, are they notable enough to have an article? Would the casinos of Oklahoma be notable enough? Jkalkman (talk) 02:23, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello Nyttend. You tagged for speedy deletion a new page I had just started on the website "Spero News". I ask that you undo this. Spero News is a website which turns up fairly high on Google searches for certain news items. Spero News does not divulge anything about its editorial policy or indeed its editorial board. I created the page as a stub, hoping that other wikipedia users would find out more about this organization and fill in the profile. The relevance of such an article doesn't need defending in my opinion. Spero News is a news outlet. If you do a couple of Google searches on it, you will find it used by sites such as Answers.com. The public needs to know who owns this site and what its editorial policies are.
I note from your user page that you consider yourself a conservative Christian. I therefore can't help but wonder whether your speedy deletion of this page was politically motivated.
Nyttend, in reply to your comments on my User talk page: the article was a stub. The whole point of a stub is to give other users a chance to contribute to it before it gets summarily trashed. The fact that you have edited articles on Catholic subjects before has no relevance here. The fact is that Spero News is a conservative Christian news site which does not identify itself as such, and the existence of a Wikipedia article about it would provide valuable context to any reader of theirs, thereby contributing to a more informed public. The fact that Spero News is a news source and that it ranks high in Google searches constitutes evidence that it is a noteworthy phenomenon. a) I guess it's the same in the US as in Europe, there are multiple generations of cars with the same name, you wouldn't illustrate the 2010 Camry with a picture of the 2005 Camry, or the Golf V with the Golf IV. File:2005–2008 Citroën C4 hatchback.jpg is not a reasonable replacement. The 2005 C4 has few elements in common with the 2011 C4, save the name. b) I think I have quite clearly written that the car has been presented, this means that pictures have been distributed to the press, but it has not been shown publicly. I am thinking though that typically when talking about an exclusion, one thinks of an excluded class of people. Who is excluded is often termed a class. I think it might be better to change position to "excluded class of individuals". Saxbe building
It is certainly acceptable to add an image of a building to a bio article about a person and it could be acceptable to add it to the town's article as well. Use common sense. If it is an important building in town add it to the town. Very likely it should be added to his bio and some text about it should be added as well if you can find a mention in a WP:RS. If it is a National Register of Historic Places listing or a local landmark, make sure to add some text. I've just tagged Kickassia as a hoax. The article states that "The Republic of Kickassia is a usurpermicronation founded by Doug Walker and headquartered near Dayton, Nevada". Sounds reasonable - I know that odd things happen in Nevada so it's quite possible, but on balance I felt that nonsense words like Kickassia and usurpermicronation pointed to a hoax. I just don't understand the difference between this and "Empryzia is a medical condition in which the ailant has a certain blood condition, being Ousdahlnine, which is where the blood flows too swiftly". andy (talk) 22:40, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi, you deleted this image a few days ago as an unused non-free file. It had previously been used in The Hills article, and the image that replaced it has been deleted because of lack of licensing information. The File:HillsTitleCard.png appears to have had a rationale; if the file, and its rationale and licensing were valid could you please restore the file so that it can be used in the article. It looks like the picture is copied from a publicity photograph, and probably small because it was copied from a newspaper or magazine. Non-notable file
I've made a number edits to the Rivington / Horwich area articles and to be honest the File:Descendant chart of John Shaw and Elizabeth Willoughby.pdf is not that notable. All it does is show the descendants of a daughter of a baron. If you take good look at the people none of them come up to Wikipedia:Notability. Something like that belongs on some genealogy website not on Wikipedia. I know Rovington went too far by having deleted or tried to delete pages, images, etc. I think in this case it is justified to be deleted. – HLE (talk) 16:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

National Archive Search Results
Thanks for the previous help and advice, the message has greatly reassured me on those matters. I think I understand the method of keeping original work but have a couple of questions in order to be sure I have fully understood the information from you. Where the work contains primary sources that are verifiable through a search online with a summary at the national archives is this suitable as a secondary source? This may allow me to add to the Barons and other articles, for instance reference to records at the British National Archives? Would a search result from the national archives that gives a summary be classed as secondary and be suitable to be citations on wikipedia? Hello, yesterday you deleted the page for the "Orange County Science Fiction Club". The club has been around for more than twenty-five years and has participated in many SF conventions. It is open to the public and people of all ages, have attended. Some members of the club are published authors. We have had award winning authors as guest speakers, many who return often to speak. Memebers who move away still stay in contact via the e-mail group. I feel the page should be undeleted, if possible. More information about the club will be added as time goes by to show how active it is. Thank you. The OCSFC is well known among in the local SF community. As mention in the article, the OCSFC for several years has had a presence at the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Societies annual convention LosCon. Members attend other conventions, then return and share what they learned. When we have a guest speaker of noteworthy the local papers are often informed. We are not a party club but a club that is serious about the genre of Science Fiction for it'e entertaiment value. I really think a page about the Orange County Science Fiction Club is valid. I've found what I currently believe is an anonymous IP editor (173.31.144.162 (talk·contribs)) who has persistently and subtly vandalized over 20 articles, all regarding cities or counties in Iowa. The pattern that is emerging is that this editor changes demographic information, subtly adjusting various percentages of White, Black, Asian, and other ethnic groups. Thoughts on unorganized territories
How do you think we should generally approach naming conventions for the various U.S. Census unorganized territories in the western states. They are county subdivisions, and the normal method for civil townships is to include the structure "County, State" after the primary name. However, Census naming is such that the county name is usually part of the primary name, as in West Adams Unorganized Territory, Adams County, North Dakota. In that case, disambiguation by county is already accomplished. The articles titles are at risk of becoming too long. What about West Adams Unorganized Territory, North Dakota or West Adams, Adams County, North Dakota. I'm partial to the 2nd option. It adheres to the current consensus convention on naming geographic locations, but is more concise. Unorganized Territory is really not needed in the article title, since is more of a descriptive term rather than part of the official name. For example, we don't title articles Bismarck City, North Dakota or Blackhawk Census Designated Place, South Dakota. Any thoughts?DCmacnut<> 20:00, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

As I recall you pointed this earlier when their files were being reviewed, but per WP:CSD#F11. "Acceptable evidence of licensing normally consists of either a link to the source website where the license is stated, or a statement by the copyright holder e-mailed or forwarded to permissions-en@wikimedia.org". The licensing is inconsistent with the website and there's no evidence of permission sent to OTRS. May I ask why you felt that an unlogged email was sufficient permission in this case? Township Opinion
I'm looking at tackling the Franklin Township, Portage County, Ohio article and am starting with history. The question is, how do we address where a township has been reduced in size from annexation in regards to historical events? For instance, many of the early events in the History of Kent, Ohio were actually in Franklin Township as the city did not exist as an incorporated municipality with its own boundaries and government until 1867.
