A kitten for you!

This wiki-kitten is there to say "thank you" for your wiki-gnoming work. I have seen your copyedits on many an article that I am reviewing weekly for WikiProject Poland new article alerts - thank you for dealing with so many recent changes! Also, because it is my sincere belief that positive reinforcement is a key to running collective intelligence projects like our 'pedia. Cheers!

Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:45, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

@Piotrus: Thanks for that. I will be patrolling those wikiprojects someday. Right now the football, albums, biography requires urgent attention. OccultZone (Talk) 10:50, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Is there any area on Wikipedia that does not require urgent attention? :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:07, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
None! You've been around since 2004. Ever got bored? OccultZone (Talk) 11:10, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
@Piotrus: You may want to fix your typo. It is "if youu", should be "if you".[1] OccultZone (Talk) 17:23, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Ha, I guess I must have been a bit stressed to get this typo in. But, that sock is not permbanned, I'd rather avoid that page least I draw attention of the troll(s). For the last few years I have been quite happily mostly troll-free and I'd like to continue my wiki-life in such a fashion :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:37, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
@Piotrus: I don't know whether it was a sock puppet or not, just WP:NOTHERE. OccultZone (Talk) 09:03, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
Indeed. Through I have to admit I am positively surprised people realized that. Few years ago such NOTHERE accounts were numerous and hardly ever blocked. I'd like to think that something changed over the last few years, making our current wiki-world a much safer place. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:24, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

@Piotrus: Can't see anyone who will hurt or torture. I can affirm that. When I go through the archives of 2005-2007, I would still find some horrible posts. Don't why they weren't deleted. OccultZone (Talk) 09:30, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of pages

Resolved

I think some pages should just be blanked as courtesy as they await total deletion by Wikipedia administrators. I have seen the blanked as courtesy being used by various editors. A case in point if the page Murali Sekar-Learn ABAP. It is a copyvio and it is an advertisement at the same time. What do you think about it? Aha... (talk) 08:45, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nominations

Please be more careful when nominating articles for speedy deletion.

I thought I had discussed this with you before, but can't immediately find it in the history of your talk page. Have you considered archiving your talk page instead of simply removing posts? What you are doing is not against policy, but it is not the best solution in a collaborative environment like we have. You can archive manually or use one of the archive bots that do tihis for you. Fram (talk) 08:51, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

@Fram: I used that bot before, but they won't work at times, I had decided to make archive one day, whenever I may create a userpage.
I had tagged "Diseases and epidemics of the 19th century" as HOAX, you can read the summaries there is heavy amount of fringe. I never tagged it as vandalism, maybe someone else added that tag.
"Pawan wadeyar" is what I would agree with, I should've used the Afd instead, and expect a speedy delete, but it is a unsourced BLP, so there is option for another PROD.
Manohar warti was not advertising? Maybe the editor changed the article after reverting the PROD template, I might be confusing with another, but that may have happened.
BIOFIN - I agree. OccultZone (Talk) 08:58, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
The previous discussion took place on your talk page. It was User talk:Fram#Why Tag.3F, about a fictional building. OccultZone (Talk) 09:05, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
You did tag it as Vandalism though [2], both the tag at the page and your edit summary refer to vandalism, not as a hoax. Doesn't really matter either way, it isn't a hoax, it may be a thoroughly wrong article and it probably warrants deletion for some reason, but that doesn't make it a hoax. When a new editor creates an article (posts his homework, by the looks of it) and gets accused of vandalism and hoax creation, chances are that he will never return, instead of perhaps becoming a useful editor. Fram (talk) 09:08, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Pawan wadeyar will not get a speedy delete, and will probably not be deleted at all (once it gets a source). Check Govindaya Namaha and 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards.
Manohar warti: this was the full text when you tagged it for advertising: "Manohar Singh Warti( Mannu ) was born Devlekh on 26 April 1989 in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. His father, Himmat Singh Warti, led India's Animal century in forest departments, and grew up with His mother, Belmati Devi , at the Warti Bhawan Devlekh; a large family estate in Devlekh. Manohar had a happy childhood.[6] His father was often away, directing Forest activities ," (yes, it ends with a comma...) Fram (talk) 09:08, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Figured, Hoax and vandalism are same thing, it reads "Pages that include blatant and obvious misinformation or hoaxes. (G3)" I don't know what to do especially when you have restored the page? You informed the involved admin?
If no one will add source, I will source Pawan wadeyar. Everything else has been dealt. OccultZone (Talk) 09:13, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the thanks. Its good you informed the involved admin. Hopefully resolved. OccultZone (Talk) 09:41, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
@Fram: Please share your opinion on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/BIOFIN, I will list that Afd to deletion sorting, but later. OccultZone (Talk) 09:51, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Diseases and epidemics of the 19th century. OccultZone (Talk) 09:59, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
  • OK, vandalism was not quite the best reason for deleting diseases and epidemics of the 19th century. But since the title and content were both inappropriate, I deleted it. I invoke WP:SNOW - what was the point of using any other deletion route? Similar, but less strong arguments can be used to support my deletion of three other of the articles. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:15, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Absolutely RHaworth, I assumed that article to be based on fringe theories so I selected vandalism. There was no other reason. OccultZone (Talk) 10:16, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
How was the title inappropriate? And how is an article based on fringe theories "vandalism" or "hoax"? This is some piece of schoolwork by someone young, I would guess, not some fringe advocate, never mind a vandal. Fram (talk) 10:33, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

While I know many here are very biased against Asians, I did not know they also post warnings! What do you have to say about zillions like that dude who does nothing but revert others edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parikhjigish (talkcontribs) 00:12, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

@Parikhjigish: If they are biased, you are encouraged to inform them about the essential things that they don't know about the subject. Whenever you submit your knowledge especially to main article space, kindly add a reliable source to your information. I have no hard feelings for you, but it is usually a formality to warn users against the personal attacks. I probably don't want to see you getting blocked for that. OccultZone (Talk) 00:16, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

I clearly asked the question. I had SAID " I am willing to put Sankrit texts for verification. Will you be able to read and translate?" Guess you ought to know that very likely most so called 'senior editors' will not be able to read and verify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parikhjigish (talkcontribs) 00:19, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Kondapalli railway station

I ran across the article Kondapalli railway station and noticed that you had marked the article as reviewed. I read over the article and was quite surprised to find numerous errors that had not been tagged or corrected. Rather than mark the article back to unreviewed and tag it appropriately, I went ahead and made the needed corrections. Please be more careful when marking articles as reviewed if you do not take the proper time time to either tag them appropriately or perhaps make the corrections yourself. Thank you. Carriearchdale (talk) 01:08, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

@Carriearchdale: I don't have to be. Subject exceeds an estimated amount of 50,000 in terms of search results. Makes it notable enough. Article seemed more than a test draft so it is fair to mark it as review. When you click on review, you further inform a person that the page is not a vandal, promotional, attack page, or anything that comes under the WP:PROD. If you want to make your own changes you can do them yourself, but it has to do nothing with the review. [3] You have only non-capitalized 3-4 words which is hardly an improvement when it comes to 'numerous errors', errors are usually those that break the page or they are open invitation to other errors(such as wrong templates). OccultZone (Talk) 01:13, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Wow, can you say denial? Next time I won't do you the courtesy of kindly notifying you before I re-mark articles that you don't have time for as unreviewed! Have a great evening! ciao!!! Carriearchdale (talk) 01:20, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

"You have only non-capitalized 3-4 words which is hardly an improvement when it comes to 'numerous errors'," WRONG Carriearchdale (talk) 01:22, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

@Carriearchdale: Ok, what were the errors? It can be known through the watchlist if someone has unreviewed the article. Some people use an automated template for notifying the reviewer, but most of the time they notify when they have turned PROD into other PROD. I hope you are aware of it. Place of birth

Let's see how long it will take until "my police" removes the place of birth from the infobox because it doesn't appear in the article ;) (the article will grow eventually) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:54, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: Sorry for the late reply, birth place is not that important especially for a lead or the articles that have 2-5 lines. A separate "biography" section should be formed for that. But birth year is pretty important, some people have even added the birth year in the page title. It cannot be rejected either, but requires discussion. Bit strange. AWB usage

Looking through your contrib history, I was wondering about your AWB usage- it seems a bit on the side of using it to get a higher edit count. I'm not accusing you of anything- it's not like I'm an expert on AWB ;)- but I was just wondering. Thanks, Lixxx235Got a complaint? 14:28, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

@Lixxx235: It can be.. There are a number of editors,[4], [5], [6] who have made most of their edits with AWB, because it is a good tool for resolving errors, adding non-controversial maintenance tags, etc. OccultZone (Talk) 14:39, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

wrong sortkey and you readded persondata after it was removed. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:50, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

I believe inflating edit count using AWB is against AWB policy. Thanks, Lixxx235Got a complaint? 14:51, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Recall that AWB is not bug's free and you are responsible for your edits. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:53, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
@Lixxx235: I don't know what is your point here. Suppose if there is a specific problem or issue with 15,000 pages and you want to solve them with AWB, you are allowed. If you want to complete them on a single day still no one will object you. For example, there are more than 16,000 pages containing the "underlinked" tag, it usually takes about 20 seconds to solve each of it. Maybe AWB will be the best option for solving such issues. OccultZone (Talk) 15:57, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
This isn't criticism, I was just wondering. Maybe it'd be a good idea to use a bot account to avoid the impression of inflating edit account? Just a thought. Thanks, Lixxx235Got a complaint? 15:59, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
It is and hopefully I shall get one someday. OccultZone (Talk) 16:02, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
For constant tagging is better to use bot account than normal accounts. -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:35, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
@Magioladitis: From where I can start? :-) OccultZone (Talk) 16:46, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
I suggest that you stick to manual edits for a while. Our need at the moment is on editor's checking their edits. This is the reason I leave you instructions. We have many tagging bots at the moment. -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:58, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Yes I was wondering a bit. But I do understand that. OccultZone (Talk) 17:01, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Again here persondata is not needed. The infobox in the page was empty and wrong. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:10, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Because we have already discussed about the bots and their situation. I wanted to know that if a bot is allowed to make cosmetic change on talk pages? I may have seen GoingBatty with the bot doing so, but I don't see any objection. There are an estimated of 200,000(I've counted half) of the articles that have inappropriate tag. I agree that if a bot has made about 5000 edits(all cosmetic), it can be easier to oppose such bot. Maybe because of such reason I thought that what if a bot makes 10 cosmetic changes, and the owner makes 10 effective changes after following those cosmetic changes? Or whoever is willing to take responsibility. If you are not sure, you can let me know, I can propose a model. OccultZone (Talk) 17:14, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Goingbatty's bot adds WPBS around project banners. Josve05a's, when approved, will rearrange pages per WP:TPL. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:17, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
If Goingbatty do that, I can simply tell goingbatty him. Although it might be matter of time whether he wants to do or not. I am not that curious about Joseve05a' bot though, but I hope there is nothing harmful in his bot anymore. OccultZone (Talk) 17:20, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
When most people talk about cosmetic changes, they are really referring to insignificant or inconsequential edits that have no noticeable effect on the rendered page, which is not only against AWB's rule of use but will probably not get approved as a bot task. GoingBatty (talk) 17:44, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes I know. Exclusively, the main purpose is to create or pave some way for constructive edits. But what is with rearranging TPL? It is assumed by many as cosmetic change. OccultZone (Talk) 17:58, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Maybe it would be helpful if "cosmetic change" was accurately defined somewhere. GoingBatty (talk) 17:36, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

The article coolie

Hi how are you.... I have tried over and over again to have the article coolie edited and nothing has happened. The article is completely false and it has a racist agenda. Coolie should be classed as Indentured Laborer and Indentured laborers are not slaves. Also the entymology is completely wrong. Coolie means unskilled Asian laborer or hireling. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/coolie

I have provided very credible sources stating that indentured laborer are not slaves and they have been disregarded and that is just wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richey90211 (talkcontribs) 19:55, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

@Richey90211: Sadly what you are doing is considered as "Edit warring". You cannot enforce your content after removing much of the content which they had written for years.
Coolies are not slaves in the today's world. That was in 19th-20th century (before WW2) when colonizers had enslaved coolies, they would try to profit from them as much as it was possible. Many of them died due to the lack of food. Have you read the related stories?
If you have some information and reliable source for the information you are welcome to attribute, but you don't have to remove content without consensus. Consensus on talk page is clearly against those edits that you had made. You've been told on WP:ANEW. I also think that once you learn how to edit these articles, you should edit some other articles, your account looks like a WP:SPA. OccultZone (Talk) 00:54, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Please use direct language when communicating with other users

Regarding this message you just left on another user's talk page. Please don't say "[This edit] has been reverted" when it was you who did it. Say "I reverted [this edit]", or similar. Using indirect language is bureaucratic and has an unpleasantly authoritarian tone that frequently upsets people who are on the receiving end of it.

This is not a formal request, merely advice from experience on how to help maintain a congenial editing environment. Thank you. — Scott talk 14:07, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

IEEE Cloud Computing

Hello! Thank you very much for taking a look at and fixing errors in the IEEE Cloud Computing article. I added a link from the Intercloud article to the IEEE Cloud Computing article, as they're of direct relevance to one another. Is that enough to remove the orphan tag? I could add links from other related articles (such as IEEE Communications Society, but I'm hesitant to intrude on someone else's hard work.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome, and again - thanks very much for your help.

Deletion of wikipage Test Environment Management

Hello OccultZone, I had created my first wiki page today which unfortunately got deleted even before i could show it to my team mates. The page was - Test Environment Management and I think it may have been viewed as an advertisement in error.

Here are a few reasons why I had created it --

  • This is a valid subject of interest to many people in the IT industry.
  • I could not find a wiki page dedicated to this topic.
  • This subject is still in an evolving stage and inputs from other wiki users would help to make the knowledge on this topic stronger.

Please note that the article created is NOT for advertisement purposes and there is no reference to a product / company / person being advertised. If there is any particular area in the article that needs to be edited, the wiki-editors should be provided a chance to edit it and make it better.

Please suggest what changes would be needed to have my page restored.

Thank you. (TechRem (talk) 13:48, 12 June 2014 (UTC)).

@OccultZone: Thank you for the suggestion. Please let me know if i can modify the article contents and re-submit the page again or is there a different process to do that?

Thanks for the notice! If you are interested I have a list here: ar:مستخدم:WhisperToMe/SortedList.

LGBT topics are lacking on the Arabic Wikipedia so that would be very helpful! WhisperToMe (talk) 15:16, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Do you know of any article titles of these deleted pages so I can cross-check them with the list? An admin could take a look and see. Removal of ‘Switzerland-actor-stub’ regarding Karin Lesch — and a question about a possible photograph.

Dear OccultZone,

I thank you kindly for taking the time to edit the first Wiki page I have ever created. Though I did it to the best of my abilities — using similar pages as an example — I still shouldn't care to proffer it for consideration as a Featured Article. (I was a good student, but my formal education was limited to a UK Senior Sixth Form College, i.e. the US equivalent of nothing more than (full) high school, whereas so many Wiki editors are, by stark contrast, both erudite and lettered).

Coming to the first point, finding nothing on the subject in English, I merely pieced the page together from translations of various German Wiki articles, thus their semi-internal German Wiki links, with a few external links to largely brief German articles from which I included translated information as well. (My late mother was Swiss, and at one time I was conversant in German). However, I certainly didn't — and still don't — consider it much of an article at all, hence my inclusion of the ‘Switzerland-actor-stub’ in hopes more-knowledgeable, well-informed editors might add to it. However, if you feel it doesn't qualify as a stub, I am flattered, and can only thank you once more, but again, my reason for placing it there was because I don't consider it a bona fide article, but I defer to your opinion on the matter.

On the second point, if you would have the time to advise me. I'm not an American, and don't live in the USA. I remain a British Citizen, however I emigrated long ago, and I believe I'm subject, in my adopted country, to copyright laws 50 years p.m.a.; this providing there was not a third-party copyright filed in addition. As such, I have two screen shots, which I, myself took of the subject, actress Karin Lesch, from one of her 1973 East German films. The larger is not of any great size, 500 by 700 pixels, but I would think need be scaled down to about 180 by 225 for use beneath her name, in the framed biographic summary to the right as per Wiki format on articles about a person. I regret I am just an old man who is all at sea when it comes to the complexities of what is or is not permissible vs a clear infringement of copyright. One could assume in this case, it might be permissible, however not in Wikimedia Commons, and so I don't exactly know where in English Wiki to up-load it, but more importantly whether it does, in fact, fall under ‘Fair-use’ ... ? ... although it appears to me to meet all Wikipedia Non-free content criteria.

Any guidance you could give me with regard to this would be much appreciated.

Thank you again,

Yours sincerely,

Chris

Christian Gregory (talk) 07:19, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

P.S. I further thank you for your creation of a ‘Discussion Page’ for this article, which I only discovered now. Cheers! Christian Gregory (talk) 19:29, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Occult Zone asked me to take a look at your comment to see if I could offer any help regarding image use on en.wiki.
About the two screenshots of Karin Lesch. Since she is still alive, and assuming that the East German films are copyrighted, the only way to upload them and use them here would be under the non-free content conditions, Wikipedia's stricter interpretation of the American "fair use" legal concept. Each image would have to have a separate non-free fair use rationale for each article they appeared in. You could probably use one of them in each article about each East German film - if we have articles on them - and you might be allowed to use one in the article about her, although activist editors who patrol that area of Wikipedia are known to interpret extremely strictly the requirement that if the person is still alive, it's technically possible that a free image might become available. (Ironically, if she dies you're in a better position to use one of the screenshots in her article.) It's still worth trying, though. The worst that could happen is that the image is removed.
Any images used as non-free should be under 300px in width - you don't necessarily need to go down to 180px. Generally biography portraits are displayed at around 220px.
You are correct that your screenshot would not be acceptable to upload to Commons, which does not accept copyrighted material under any cirmcustances.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on my talk page. Best, BMK (talk) 20:41, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

A bit too soon to orphan-tag the Ramon Barba article?

Hi. Not to be argumentative, but you marked the Ramon Barba stub an orphan literally within ten minutes of the page being created - which is to say, of course, before it was humanly possible to wikilinks from other pages, unless those pages already had redlinks. (Not everybody creates pages via redlinks. Especially if we're talking about scientists in highly specialized fields.) I was just creating the article and starting to look for sources by which to beef it up, and the tagging got me a bit flustered. Would it be okay if I asked for perhaps a little breathing space next time? :D Thanks. - Alternativity (talk) 17:40, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

@Alternativity: I've categorized though, if you don't find link anywhere, you can add your page on List of Filipino people. You can remove orphan tag after that. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 17:45, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I already wikilinked at least one article. I made the article because he had just been proclaimed a National Scientist of the Philippines, so a link there was going to almost be automatic. And then there's the list of UPLB alumni, and... I dunno if there's a list for the University of Hawaii's East West Center. You just beat me to the draw. Hehe. :D I usually don't remove the tags other people put on the articles I made, as a matter of delicadeza (Oooh, that cultural trait should have its own wiki page), but it seems you're giving me permission to do it myself? :D Thanks. - Alternativity (talk) 17:56, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Biography of J.M.Rhodes: This person died in 1976

Hi OccultZone, thx for contributing to my latest article, the biography of James Melvin Rhodes. Most aditions you've made seemed kind of automatic and for this I'd like to thank. There is however for the 2nd time a category link "living people" added, which is in that case, since the person described died in 1976 (s. biographic data) not applicable! So I'll remove it a second time and would like to ask you to NOT put it in again (suppose, it was just automatically done). Thx a lot and keep up the good work. Matchtime (talk) 18:17, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

@Matchtime: Best is to never write "age:60" in your first sentence and add the "1976 deaths" if you have also added a "1916 births", for categories. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 18:19, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
@OccultZone, thx for this hint, quite valuable! I actually created this part from another example, but yeah, it makes sense to me. Good and helpful learning effect. Enjoy the weekend. Matchtime (talk) 18:28, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Please give some time before tagging new pages

New editors may consider tagging a page they just created as biting. Even when tagging is correct. I know there is no strict rule for tagging but since you edit manually try to slow down this. This is a rule I try to follow too. -- Magioladitis (talk) 06:34, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Some do, some new editors also consider it to be a good sign. I will probably tag after 2-3 days of creation. But then the question would be, "which tag?", I think orphan is the hardest non-controversial tag to understand. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 06:52, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Data point: when you tagged Drafting film as uncategorized when I created it, I found it encouraging, but I would have found it even more encouraging if you'd categorized it instead :). But I'm not a new editor, so my perspective may not be typical of the newbies it's most important to not bite. Kragen Javier Sitaker (talk) 10:38, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
@Kragen: Many people around for tagging as well as for categorizing. There are hardly any pages that remain uncategorized as almost all of them are using "Hotcat". I mostly add categories on those articles that I've reviewed. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 10:43, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
I didn't mean my comment as a complaint! Kragen Javier Sitaker (talk) 23:50, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
True. I get a lot of questions about it. Still I think it is a very useful tag. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:08, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes it is very important one. No 2nd opinion there. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 07:10, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2014_June_14#Template:Orphan after a page was tagged. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:28, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
That is called WP:BOOMERANG. We can see that the template is heavily supported by most of the members. I have still left one comment. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 07:36, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
I have to whole hardheartedly agree with Magioladitis. Wait before tagging. If you want to do new articles, turn tagging off. I'm also getting tired of seeing you tag an article, but not fixing anything else. I saw an article that contained a user signature, two sentences and 3-4 other errors. You slapped 4 tags on it, but did nothing else. You are doing upwards of 8 articles a minute and there is no way that you are doing nothing else except press save. Perfect example is this. You didn't look at what you did. The defaultsort was wrong and you added the wrong name to persondata. You didn't add the full birthdate. You keep saying you are going to correct this, but don't. Bgwhite (talk) 09:08, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
I changed the defaultsort and persondata, thanks for pointing. I also informed BrownHairedGirl about it,[11] the creator of this article and she has realized too. I think you might be referring to a PRODED article, I don't really think that I will be editing the PRODED articles, sometimes I used to reach to them after watching from the program, but it can be done without editing too. I added that I won't be doing that on any PROD articles anymore, or if it is necessary, I will be avoiding the orphan tag. I will tag probably after 2-3 days. Although I can still use other tags such as 'unsourced', 'refimprove' with the program. Also the full birth date on James Rooke (MP) is still missing. We've only got the years. Before today I never knew that tagging can be disabled. Thanks OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 10:18, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

@Magioladitis: I hope you have read all responses on TFD, and including that one by Lugnuts. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 13:57, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

I noticed. Thanks. On the other matter: Bgwhite is right. You do not pay attention. So please disactivate Auto-tagger. I wrote you before: We need more pair of eyes and less automatisation. We need more editors to check their edits, to report problems and less bot-like editors. If we are more we can distribute the tasks better and slow down our editing rates. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:52, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes I had notified that I didn't knew any deactivation of Auto tagging, but today I got to know. I have done about 62 edits after that, no tags :-) What I will do is, I will maintain the list. Tag days or week/(s) after. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 14:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. We all get wiser every day. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:23, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I haven't been told that I should not tag newest articles. I can, but Bgwhite and Magioladitis have requested that they don't prefer doing with it AWB.. If I want, I can actually tag recently created articles, but even without using AWB for that. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:03, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

9 minutes after it was created. I did not say anything AWB on my comments above. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:20, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

I know what you mean, I am trying something with common.js right now. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:22, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
The problem is the following: If the page was already a tag, bot won't be able to remove unless the page has 3 instead of 1 link. This is why I raise my concerns. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:25, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
Which bot. I think AWB removes underlink, deadend, stub, orphan and uncategorized once they are well enough. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:28, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
AWB adds orphan when no incoming links, removes then 3 or more incoming links. 1 and 2 incoming links need user attention. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:47, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Your Opinion

Can you have your opinion about a discussion at page.--Vin09 (talk) 06:57, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

I would like to know that what sources he is using. Sometimes if the source is not reliable you have to stick to the last claim, and specifically add the year. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 07:05, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
On Tiruchirappalli page, correct info was clearly stated on the page itself. And the user stated reference is newspaper info, need to slide for second picture on that page.

Government of India genuine source is [12].--Vin09 (talk) 07:11, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Persian people

Thanks. That was the last straw. Blocked indefinitely as clearly not here to build the encyclopedia. He's got a sock as well, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Farshidvard. Dougweller (talk) 09:49, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Nicely done, I've got at least 2 reports pending on SPI, any input from SPI can be expected only after a few days or weeks. This user has been blocked and page allows only confirmed users. I guess it is good sign for now. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 09:55, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

WP:AN

There is a discussion at WP:AN to which your input might be helpful. Dennis Brown |  | WER 13:08, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, and before I had this message, I had the ping from you. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 13:14, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
I couldn't resist the close on that. ;) Dennis Brown |  | WER 13:30, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Orphan page fixed

Per your reco/orphan tag placed on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupon_Cabin , I located two existing mentions on other wikipedia articles and linked them to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupon_Cabin . Page no longer orphaned. Thank you! Mtrent (talk) 14:31, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

@Mtrent: Tag removed. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 14:34, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 17

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bill Hamrick (William Grady Hamrick III), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Carrollton High School (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Nizamabad page

Please have a look at this Nizamabad, Telangana. I have already undid once, another user removed content without any summary and reference. Thank you.--Vin09 (talk) 09:29, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

You can revert again, and warn the editor on their talkpage. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:00, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

hello

finally created this one. Please have a loook. Thanks Hidzoko (talk) 14:13, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Possible sock

I've been dealing with a sock master that generally hits Indian cinema and TV plus video games. There's an account that I'm a bit suspicious about, but the articles they are editing have been edited earlier by socks of a different account, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Nitishkumartn, that you just added an SPI about. The new account is FreshiaBomanberham (talk · contribs). I'm not convinced they are TJK, but they might be a Nitishkumartn sock. If you have a chance, would you mind taking a look at their contributions and see what you think? Thanks! Ravensfire (talk) 15:04, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

@Ravensfire: Thanks for informing me. At least we can say that none of these users(suspect socks) have provided edit summaries for their edits. I am going to look into that one. There are probably more. Yesterday I had told Callanecc that he should endorse CU, but he hasn't responded. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 15:08, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Script/Automated tool??

Are you using any type of script or automated tool to make this type of edits??? Jim Carter (talk) 13:13, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for observing, it is a script and it is not even semi-automated. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 13:50, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Can you please tell me how to use that script?? We have thousands of unassessed articles at WPIndia. Thanks, Jim Carter (talk) 07:46, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
No doubt, I will give you the script, on your sandbox or userpage if you want me to edit any. Let you know the instructions, through here or email. Whatever suits you. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:20, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
You can drop the script here. I don't have problem if you provide the instructions here. Thanks, Jim Carter (talk) 13:33, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
@Jim Cartar: Done. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 14:13, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much OccultZone. And keep up the good work! Happy editing.  :) Jim Carter (talk) 20:35, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I want to accept that one. But how I can? Other than editing template. Thanks a lot. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:28, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Some baklava for you!

For improving your editing style. Please keep up the good work. We need more editors that check their edits before saving. Magioladitis (talk) 14:20, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Stubs

There is no rule saying that pages with more than 300 characters are not stubs. Remark: AWB arbitrarily claims that pages under 300 characters ARE stubs but there is no symmetry on this definition. AWB arbitrarily claims that pages with more than 500 words are not stubs. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:24, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Check also Wikipedia:Stub#How_big_is_too_big.3F. Under this view this is not a correct edit summary at least. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:26, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

@Magioladitis: Thanks for the appreciation above, WP:STUB says that people have their own views about stub, some people view 1500 characters(Dyk rule) to be legible, and some view 250 characters. Although I have made my own thought that 300 characters(excluding refs, categories, templates, etc) are enough. I've collaborated with this scheme on AFC, and with the editors including DGG. Basically, once the article provides you enough idea about the subject, it becomes start. Just like we had discussed before. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 14:32, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

A bowl of strawberries for you!

COI issue

How are you occultzone? What can we do to this COI policy violator? he created this article: Jeffrey Umland for either himself, his friend, relative or lectura.I suspected him of COI because he claimed to be a student of bufallo university new york. Where he also claimed that the subject obtained his degree. Although I had just tag the article with the COI template(Wikicology 08:11, 22 June 2014 (UTC)). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikicology (talkcontribs)

@Wikicology: Yes you can take advantage of WP:COIN, you can also tag the article with COI template. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 08:23, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Regarding "anti-Korean POV"

Resolved

126's phone here. I'm on my lunch break now and won't be able to reply in full until tonight. But basically, as I already said on ANI, he is a SPA whose only reason for editing Wikipedia is anti-Korean POV. It's difficult to pick out concrete examples since every single one of his edits has been (a) removing references to Korea in articless on Japan, (b) removing references to Japan in articles on Korea, (c)edit-warring with (equally and occasionally more disruptive) Korean nationalist editors, (d) minimizing Korean input in articles on Sino-Koryo-Japanese conflicts, and (e) accusing everyone who disagrees with him of being a Korean nationalist. This last. This last point is particularly irksome for me because I'm a Japanophile who lives and works in Japan, and basically couldn't care less about Korea.

I'll give the diffs on ANI when I get home. I made a list back in February when it became apparent he was not here to build Wikipedia. When I mentioned this fact he suddenly disappeared for several months. I'm sure this was just a coincidence, though.

Dealing with sock IPs

Some sock IPs are continuously edit warring in Pakistan and weapons of mass destruction and Economy of Pakistan and making pro-Pakistani nationalist edits. Can you give me some clue to deal with them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by I.Bhardwaj (talkcontribs) 20:17, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

@I.Bhardwaj: You need solid evidence and not just assumption. Consider adding your report to WP:SPI if there is any. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 06:50, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I think there's solid evidence, look at the history of Pakistan and weapons of mass destruction and Economy of Pakistan, what do you suggest? I.Bhardwaj (talk) 20:09, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
