Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. I can only assume you have made a minor mistake (as you have been here so long) - I noticed you reinstating a link to Wikia that has no info - this page is an open wiki that says absolutely nothing. 1953–54 FA Cup Qualifying Rounds

Hi Odie5533

This is the normal number of teams who enter the FA Cup. The external link is there for the results to be verified and that is the normal way for every season in the FA Cup history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%9313_FA_Cup_Qualifying_Rounds and this season is no different. Have a look at previous seasons from 2012-13 to show this.

I take it you are not an association football/soccer fan. The FA Cup is one of the oldest cup competitions ever and so many clubs enter that they have to have so many rounds before it gets into the 1st Round Proper. The seasons in English football is not showing the Qualifying Rounds for many seasons at present, and I am hoping to fill in the gaps right up to the 2007-08 season.

I have done this for many seasons in The Football League Cup: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_Cup and Scottish League Cup: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_League_Cup

This page does not deserve deletion because so many teams enter.

re. the delisting of Poundland

I noticed the changes you made to Poundland. However, for whatever reason, the NPOV tags were never removed from the Article and I didn't really note a consensus as to whether the NPOV issues had been totally corrected. My suggestion, if you feel the article is truly neutral, is to go ahead and remove the tag and make a statement on the talk page to that effect. If nobody objects over the next month or so, go ahead and do an individual GA evaluation and the article would almost certainly be relisted. I just felt that, as long as the tag is on the article, it should not be listed as a good article. Safiel (talk) 22:53, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Comics & Comics history

I've noticed you seem to be preparing to do something with History of comics. Are you intending to move the comics history stuff from Comics to the Comics history artcile? If you are, I'll avoid mucking with that section of the Comics article. I'd also recommend getting ahold of Jean-Paul Gabilliet Of Comics and Men: A Cultural History of American Comic Books—a very thorough and objective look at the history of American comic books that doesn't suffer from the horrifying amount of fandom BS and insularity that most books about American comics are infected with. It's an expensive book, but you could probably get it from a library (snippts are available at Google Books).

Also, you've obviously noticed I've been gutting the lead of the Comics article, and I was aware it was getting "too short". Before working on expanding it, I wanted to shed everything that I thought really didn't belong in the lead in the first place (including the excessive US-centric stuff, which properly belongs in one of the many US-specific articles, like American comic book). As a lead is really supposed to be a summary of what's already in the article, I think it would be best if the article were fixed up sufficiently first, and then figure out from there what points would be most essential to summarize, keeping in mind that this article is about the medium of comics, and thus should be as general as possible. Curly Turkey (gobble) 04:42, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid I'm not actually preparing for much of anything for History of comics. I moved the clutter out of the article to hopefully encourage others to expand it with actual content. It was a list of comics by region, so I moved that content to Comics by country. At this point I could see the article being spun back into Comics, or preferably left to expand—I'm sure at least one article could be written on the history of comics.
Feel free to delete the stuff I added back. Regarding the US-centric stuff, remember the reader is likely to be from the US or other English speaking countries. While the art form shouldn't center on American comics, it also shouldn't go out of its way to generalize when the reader is likely to want to learn at least something about US comics anyways. Right now the lead links to only two comic regions: the Japanese and the Franco-Belgian. A link should probably be added for at least American comic book. --Odie5533 (talk) 05:16, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
I've linked American comic book, though I think it would be even better if there were a general History of American comics, which itself would link to American comic book, and would be more on par with the scope of Manga and Franco-Belgian comics.
I think it's a mistake to assume that readers will (a) be primarily American, and (b) will be primarily looking for information on American comics. English is an international language, and none of the Wikipedias in other languages are as well-developed as the English one. Those who speak English as a second or third language frequently check out the English Wikipedia when the article they want is underdeveloped or non-existent in their own language—quite a large number of readers don't even bother checking their own language's Wikipedia. There is already quite a large number of articles that deal with American comics history, many of which will inevitably be linked throughout the Comics article. Curly Turkey (gobble) 06:44, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
After posting this, I just noticed there was a History of American comics article—and it's labeled an orphan. I imagine not many concerned editors know of its existence. Curly Turkey (gobble) 06:45, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Turns out the article was only begun less than a month ago, and is being translated from the French article. I'll go around throwing links to it in other articles. Curly Turkey (gobble) 06:47, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
You're probably right about anyone that speaks English coming here even if there is a wikipedia in their native language. At this point the article needs quite a bit of work, so I'm not as worried about its possible biases as I am about its organization and referencing, both of which need improvement. I noticed you split out the Creation and Tools sections. I think they should be put back, or at least some section should discuss the creation. It need not discuss drawing cartoons, but it should discuss things like the devices used (speech bubbles, panels, etc.) --Odie5533 (talk) 07:16, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Add Polygon to VGReviews

Hi, you recently participated in this discussion about additions to the VGReviews template. Do you mind clarifying your opinion on the inclusion of Polygon (website) in the template? Polygon has been around for over a year now; they were provisionally called "Vox Games" when they were still a subsection of parent website The Verge (owned by Vox Media). Polygon was only separated into its own website four months ago but the editorial staff has been together for much longer, hence the confusion in the discussion about its "established-ness". Ouya game/app notability.

You were the first to raise the issue, so I think I've come up with a workable set of criteria for inclusion in the List of Ouya software article. Orphaned non-free media (File:Ayane NG3RE.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Ayane NG3RE.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:04, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed you did a lot of work a while back on the Prince of Persia article. Well, I've just done a ton of work getting together something that's reminiscent of a "History" section, with all the references and info and whatnot. I'm really not feeling like going through the fiddly business of building up the reception section, so I wondered if you or another editor you know could do that, and maybe fill in other gaps in the article. It's already looking a lot better, but there's always room for improvement, and this article is long overdue.--ProtoDrake (talk) 19:32, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Odie5533. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Invisible, Inc., for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ColonelHenry (talk) 22:41, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Invisible, Inc.

Hello, Odie5533,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Invisible, Inc. should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Invisible, Inc. .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Instance webtools-odie on Wikimedia Labs

Last year, you created an instance webtools-odie. After the "merger" of the Webtools project with the Tools project, this is the only instance left in that project.

As we prepare to move projects from the Tampa data center to the Ashburn one, the obvious question is if this instance needs to be migrated or can be deleted :-). Is it in use? Do you have important data stored on it? Have you set up something extravagant that isn't documented yet?

If neither of these, please consider deleting the instance after making sure that indeed there is nothing valuable there. To do that, go to the instance page and click on "delete".

If you want to keep the instance or have any other questions, please let me know. --Tim Landscheidt (talk) 01:40, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Hey. I am not seeing many sources for those I'm afraid. I found only two weak sources for Nestopia: [1] [2]. That's not enough for an article. The other two I found basically nothing for. Not many places write about emulators, so it's very hard to find reliable sources for them. Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction

Hello I would like to know if Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction qualifies for C-class status. Regardless of your decision, I would like to know what improvements can be done to the article. Thanks.--good888 (talk) 11:30, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

@Good888: I'm not sure Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction is notable enough to even have an article. I managed to find two sources for it: [3] and [4]. The latter is only a listing saying it received a review in Issue 11 of the UK XBOX Magazine. The problem with improving the article at this point then is that you don't really have any reliable sources to use. I suggest trying to find other reliable sources for the article before you continue. And if you can't find any, you might want to try to merge all the Robot Wars video game articles into a single article since individually they don't appear notable. I still think the article would be C-class at this point. --Odie5533 (talk) 15:48, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Renegade X requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TheRealAfroMan (talk) 20:56, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia Watchlist

Hello! Did you update the Chrome extension? For some reason since yesterday or so when I click the page's link in the extension is always brings me to the diff page, instead of the page itself; normally it loaded the diff only when I clicked on the little (d).

If I take an example from my recent items:

The link goes to : https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard&diff=610034248

The little (d) goes to : https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard&diff=610034248?diff=cur&oldid=prev

In effect, both load the most recent diff page.

Please let me know if the fix worked for you, and I hope you enjoy using the extension. --Odie5533 (talk) 09:29, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

GamesRadar

GamesRadar is at AfD. Would you be able to work your usual magic to find sources that discuss GamesRadar? I don't know how you do it (I might have seen a post about it somewhere, but I can't find it), but I know you're good at it czar  04:53, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Small issue with Watchlist gadget

I've been lauding your Watchlist extension for years now, and it's helped me so tremendously that I feel almost bad reporting such small issues to you. :p However, the latest update to Chrome or Win10 apparently introduced a small bug: my mouse's scroll wheel no longer scrolls the Watchlist gadget. And since the "mark all as watched" link is at the bottom, this is quite frustrating because I can no longer "reach it". Is there anything at all that can be done? :)  · Salvidrim! ·  01:46, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

For some reason it now works again. Sorry for the bother. :)  · Salvidrim! ·  23:01, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
I am glad it's back to working for you! It warms my heart to hear people are still using the extension. Please do let me know if you have any problem with it. --Odie5533 (talk) 09:14, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

Ways to improve Pyropia

Hi, I'm Nick Moyes. Odie5533, thanks for creating Pyropia!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This article uses the same image as the page on the Genus Porphyra, so please insert would you visit that page and find an alternative image to use there. Please add the paper reassessing this genus as an essential reference.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
