Have you been getting errors with loading that page on Huggle? I keep getting them whenever it appears in the queue and I have to load it using Firefox, and I'm wondering if it's just me or something else is amiss. Nick Bush 07:45, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted to know why the Friday Night Cranks page was deleted. Thanks,--98.151.244.92 (talk) 04:11, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I dont know what page you're referring to, so I can't really give you an answer. If you're talking about Friday Night Cranks it was deleted because it does not meet wikipedia's criteria for Notability. Q T C 04:46, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Video game voice cast lists

Please don't add lists of voice casts for video games. Per WP:GAMECRUFT they should not be added, and if there is any notable cast in the game they should be mentioned in the prose of the development section of the article, as listed in WP:GAMECRUFT point #10. Thanks for your assistance

Hey OverlordQ,

I just wanted to thank you for your help on cleaning up the issues tags on Swipeball, I just added friendly and I'm still getting used to it. I was wondering if you knew how to consolidate a {{copypaste}} tag into a multiple issues tag. I've been trying to figure it out on the The National Monument to the U.S. Constitution page, but I have been unsuccessful so far. Thanks. [mad pierrot][t c] 09:57, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Afaik there isn't one, copypaste is more of a critical error I think, and articleissues is more for still bad, but nothing that's deleteable RSN. Q T C 22:07, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I came across the image because it was tagged for a file rename. I can't remember how I came across your edit though.--Rockfang (talk) 19:07, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Blocked IP user

Hi there; IP user:72.37.171.148 has posted an unblock request. He is blocked as an open proxy, with which I have no argument; he says (on his talk page) that he has tried to access the secure channel and it would not let him access that either. I do not know why. Any thoughts? I strongly suspect that this is a genuine contributor obliged to use an open proxy. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 20:24, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Commented on the talk page. Q T C 23:26, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Unblock?

You unblocked the serial vandal 212.117.169.222 with the comment "User has had no warnings". In fact, as a glance at Wikipedia:Long term abuse#Runtshit and Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Runtshit would show, this abuser has had literally thousands of warnings over the past three years for his obsessive attacks on me. The IP, which is surely a proxy as most of his other IPs, should be permanently blocked, not given "the benefit of the doubt". RolandR 08:17, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

They got warned, they stopped, Problem solved. And you can't expect me to dig through every SPI case to find if every random IP vandal matches a knock socker. Q T C 08:26, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Didn't stop, continued with the same abuse as User:Milletet, which is almost certainly from the same IP. I reported this as Runtshit vandalism, it was reasonable to expect that an admin would check this before allowing the vandal to continue abusing me. RolandR 09:32, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
When I saw a few of his edits, there was no report on AIV, and I blocked him. The AIV Helper bot removed the report. After the successful block message, I noticed his talk page was redlinked. While there is WP:DUCK, I prefer if users get some sort of warning first. Blocks are preventative, not punitive. He has stopped editing, blocking now would be punitive. If they do it again, yea they'll be blocked. Q T C 09:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
As I said above, this serial abuser has received thousands of warnings. There have been 960 confirmed socks over the past three years, plus scores of suspects. And yes, a block of the IP would have prevented him coming back with another ID. If the IP -- almost certainly a proxy -- is not blocked, there is no doubt that it will continue to be used for vandalism and abuse. RolandR 09:53, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
If this user is the same then yes, he has had thousands of warnings. If you think it is, then feel free to file a Suspected sockpuppet report and they will handle it. While it may have a CGI proxy somewhere, google returns no results and there is no proxy server. Q T C 10:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
I have been told in the past not to submit suspected sock reports for this obvious vandal, as this wastes time. Instead, the agreed procedure is to block on sight. So I will continue simply to report such abuse at ANI. RolandR 10:54, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

(undent) I stand corrected then. Q T C 11:15, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Robert Garside

Robert Garside history - 3RR violation by User:TheLongestRoadToIndiaGate, who if he isn't Garside, is one hell of a fan. I see from the history I actually broke 3RR as well, BTW, because he reverted me once so quickly I didn't realise (I was tweaking the structure, and it didn't edit conflict for some reason. [1]). Rd232 talk 16:42, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Yea, no problem. I was also in the middle of trying to fix it so it doesn't call him "Robert Garside The Runningman" every time it refers to him. Q T C 16:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
That's the puff he keeps putting back. I've boldly (WP:IAR) sorted that out, before people waste time fixing things that already have been. Rd232 talk 17:08, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

'nother bot question

Hi there again OverlordQ. I'm considering creating myself a second bot, which would be for the common tasks which come up at WP:BOTR, such as category adding, removing, tag adding, WikipProject tagging etc. I presume I need to file another WP:BRFA for this? My understanding is that I can do one BRfA, which asks for approval to WikiProject tag, and then from then on, as long as all the tasks which the bot does are inside the approved tasks, I can have it do tasks whenever? Sorry about bothering you with these questions, but I like to be sure :). Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:03, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Uploading "ogg" sound files

Hello, I saw how you uploaded several song samples, like File:Lady GaGa-Poker Face.ogg. I want to upload some of those types of files for the album article, Hannah Montana 3 and its song articles. Could you please help me by telling me where to find sound files saved as ogg that are samples. Please reply. --Ipodnano05 (talk) 08:13, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

I wouldn't know, I've created all the samples myself from the source. Q T C 17:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
How would I do that? I already own the music. --Ipodnano05 (talk) 01:38, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
You'd have to rip the CD and then encode it. There's a rough guide here, but it doesn't cover cutting the song down to an appropriate length. Q T C 01:51, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Apparently, users of your closed proxy are not permitted to edit Scientology-related articles. I have filed a request for clarification as to whether users of closed proxies such as yours were intended to be included in the topic ban: Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification#Request for clarification: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Scientology. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 13:44, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Question about ACC

Thank you for recommending me to refer to a CheckUser - I have done so.

A simple question... if an application for a user account comes from a blocked IP range, is the procedure to contact the admin who put it on block? Obviously, if an IP range is blocked (usually because they are dynamically allocated, I presume) then someone from that range may want to create a registered account, and I assume that in principle this is a good thing (it means that a non-vandal user isn't thought of as a vandal - also, they can be watched more easily, and persistent vandalism or other issues will be identifiable to a specific user).

How do I know when an account should be created or not - and in that kind of case, is it best to Defer to flagged users??

Any advice would be appreciated - I don't want to mess it up... but I want to be a useful ACC contributor.

In that particular case, I saw a couple of vandalism-like activities, but also some edits which seemed valid.... and I gave the benefit of the doubt... which with hindsite is obviously wrong...

I feel that I'll never get the hang of this... I've created two accounts, and they've both been wrong - any advice would be valued. PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 08:54, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Why did you revert me when there's so much evidence, easily obtained, showing what the English meant by the word? -74.162.156.72 (talk) 01:48, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Because your cited source doesn't say that? In part of one sentence it mentions that it may be slang for penis. Slang and euphemisms is not the definition of a word. Q T C 01:55, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
The English don't always use proper English, especially when saying something rude, like calling us "yankee doodles." Where do you think "Give 'em the raspberries!" came from? ("Raspberry tart" rhymes with "fart.") Much of American, Australian, and modern English was once English slang. I've put the definitions in my edit notes. What more do you want? Yet more academic citations? -74.162.156.72 (talk) 02:03, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Again, definitions are not the same as slang. If I looked up Blue I wouldn't expect the first thing to see is "Blue means sad" Q T C 02:05, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
You may be having a conversation with an editor banned a few hours ago, Wikipedia sockpuppets of Mbhiii 12.184.187.252 (talk) 02:17, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Prefix it with : so to link to the category you'd do [[:Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Mbhiii]] Q T C 02:21, 1 September 2009 (UTC).
Thanks, I appreciate that. 12.184.187.252 (talk) 02:22, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
It's only a sock if used to circumvent WP policy, which was inadvertent. W.r.t. blue, I would expect to see "sad" listed, as a secondary meaning. In this case, it depends on what the English were intending, and "yankee doodle" is as clear as a slap in the face. -74.162.156.72 (talk) 02:40, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

AutoRun spam.

The AutoRun article keeps getting spammed by Raymond Lin, who isn't logging in as a user, but keeps adding spam to his product page at raylin.wordpress.com. It looks like a bot might be doing it now as the edits are in pairs. The last linkspam removal done by yourself was almost immediately undone by this guy. I'm not quite sure what to do? Would page protection for the article be overkill? Adding to the spam blacklist might work too.

Admittedly I have an interest given that I authored the page. Even some sort of discussion might have been possible but this is obviously vandalism.

Question about your note on WP:OP unblock page

Hi Q, wanted to drop you a note and ask for you to expand on your statement:

"I don't know what the consensus is for rangeblocks for dedicated server providers, but IMO there's very few legitimate reasons for edits to be coming from this range"

I'm kind of clueless on this, but I'd like to have a better basis for passing these on or denying them (or bringing it to AN / RFC to establish a consensus). Is it because essentially its like an ISP, in that clients of the ISP have their own addresses but the ISP itself wouldn't have anyone who is not an employee of the ISP trying to post with that address?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Syrthiss (talk) 12:35, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
