The problem was that {{future video game}} and {{future game}} were recursively transcluding each other. Hi. I must say I'm not really happy with your example wording of "To illustrate the appearance of this game under emulation in the context of critical commentary on the game or emulator." You see, this is still not a concrete statement about an individual image in an individual article. It's again something that people will just be copying in as boilerplate. Exactly what issue is the topic of critical commentary? We need an example of what it means to say something concrete about a particular case. Something that is so special no reader will even be tempted to just copy it over. Because that's just the point, you see? Do we have a case where this template has been used and somebody has really given a concrete description? Something on the level of concreteness of (silly invented example): "To demonstrate the special visual effect of the fireworks that are shown when a player has won, an effect that this game became famous for and which served as a model for many later ones." Or, asked differently, if some evil deletionist picked one of them and proposed it for deletion as failing NFCC8 ("doesn't make any substantial contribution to understanding the article"), what would you answer them in an IfD discussion? Most of the time, an emulator-sourced screenshot is used to identify a video game or video game element in an article about said video game or video game element. For example, see the screenshots in the article Super Mario Bros. I just created {{emulator fur}} to provide reasonable defaults for emulator-sourced images. Problem with contact form on your website[edit]

I apologize that I am violating WP:NOTFORUM, but I don't know any other (reasonable) way to contact you; the contact form on your website doesn't seem to be working, and I am not sure whether "tepples at spamcop dot net" is still your preferred email address. Please feel free to archive or remove this message once you have dealt with the issue appropriately.

Contradiction[edit]

Here, you've said that the article abuts wp:own. But your edit to the article contradicts the application of the rule (essay).

In wp:own, all wikipedia content (this includes templates, categories, and others, not just articles) ruled. But the only edit you've made to wp:don't revert limits it's application to only articles. So, it can't really abut wp:own, unless wp:own is changed.

Also, please read the section on the talk page I started. I say wp:brd applies, so those changes (except for you addition of the internal link (wp:brd) are not needed. (I support your inclusion of the internal link, btw.)

Pingas[edit]

Pingas was deleted several times because it was created as a redirect to Dr. Eggman (aka Ivo Robotnik), because of a silly Internet meme where Robotnik says "Snooping as usual, I see" on an episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. That's why it was salted, and even if it were re-created and locked, I think there would be a great deal of vandalism on the talk page. I am aware of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and YouTube Poop. But I am also aware of the pornographic film Las Chupa Pingas, whose title uses "pingas" in the sense of the plural of the Spanish slang term. Conflation of "third tier" fonts based on name is a real problem. No one's going to come out with something called "Times New Roman" that looks like anything other than Times New Roman. But something like Chicane that few have ever heard of? Another designer likes the name and makes his own, totally different, face. I don't know if there is a good solution. You could link to the one you're referring to, but that's likely a temporary measure at best, because those free font sites come and go, and often the designer doesn't host them himself. If the designer is known (e.g. Bitstream) you could use that for disambiguation, but for obscure fonts like this it can be hard to track down. I'd love to see a good (i.e. long-term stable) typography wiki that could document this sort of thing. ⇔ ChristTrekker 14:42, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Missing fundamental audio clip[edit]

A while back, you contributed an audio file to the missing fundamental article. There are concerns about what it's demonstrating and whether it's effective, so I moved it out of the main article and onto the discussion page, at least until we can get something put together that's easy to understand and effective for all listeners. I created this redirect on the pattern that U+2603 ☃ goes to snowman, U+1F337 🌷 goes to tulip, U+1F4A3 💣 goes to bomb, and when you type the logo of MediaWiki ([[🌻]]) using U+1F33B 🌻, you get a link to sunflower. The article Damaged good is not a list of products that some Wikipedia editor thinks should use a different pricing strategy. If you have an independent source, who is in a position to know, who says that the product meets the defintion of a "damaged good", then cite it. Because a company decides to charge more for electronics with more features is not enough. They might want to avoid the considerable expense of customer support for development platforms. Selling the development version to consumers at a low price and telling them development capability is unsupported leads to angry customers and damaged reputation. There are any number of other reasons for such pricing strategies.

To clarify, my point was that you should attempt to categorize any main-namespace redirects you create, despite the lack of a perfect consensus on the recommendation level of WP:Categorizing redirects. If the creator of a redirect doesn't categorize it, someone else (like me) eventually will, and it's best to save them the effort.

When I saw this, it took me a while to realize that you meant #Contested deletion 23. In such cases, I'd normally change the section-title part of the edit summary manually, but I'm not aware of a consensus on this either. Yes, the guideline was new to me. But now that I've reread the guideline, I understand the point: it's for choosing redirects to exclude from printed copies of Wikipedia subsets. I'm new here and was reviewing Wikipedia's core content policies when I noticed that an unconstructive edit was made over at Sophie Hunter's page by Lady Lotus (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sophie_Hunter&diff=653358418&oldid=653281992). She has restored an edit that mislabels a production and removes a credit. User Corsican Honeymoon's edit should be restored due to the following reasons:

Calling the production Lucretia an installation is mislabeling the production because installations are inanimate and Lucretia has movements from performers, so it should be properly called performance art. Installation and performance art are entirely different things.
Putting the timestamp "(2011)" after Rape of Lucretia suggests that Rape of Lucretia was done in 2011 when it isn't. It's the performance art Lucretia that was produced in 2011 not the opera which was first performed in 1946.
Deletion of Magic Flute as credit when the provided reliable source explicitly says that Hunter has directed it. Per core content policy "No original research", an editor can't just remove a credit because she thinks the production didn't happen at all. Disc wobble[edit]

86.153.133.193 (talk · contribs) summarily removed your request to merge Disc wobble into Wobble frequency and also redirected the former title to Copy protection, mentioning that disc wobble for copy protection is strictly a separate mechanism from normal wobble specified in a disc format. I do not believe this decision is helpful to our readers, as Copy protection doesn't yet mention wobble, and I think the merge should have been allowed to proceed. I tried retargeting Disc wobble to Wobble frequency as a stopgap measure, but said IP reverted me.

The IP moved discussion from the struck pages to Talk:Copy protection#(From Disc Wobble). Relevant points raised were that there are general notability concerns and that the guideline about not redirecting to an article without mention should be applied to either choice of target article. However, fixing the latter is not trivial and requires searching for sources, the burden of which is on anyone who adds or restores relevant content (not "adds or removes," as I had incorrectly remembered).
