Template:User LGBT for my own[edit]

How do I make an LGBT template userbox for my own including the Progress Pride flag? Would this be a good example? Let me know.

{{userbox | id = File:LGBTQ+ rainbow flag Quasar "Progress" variantGay flag.svg | id-c = LightBlue | info = This user is a member of the LGBT community. FireDragonValo (talk) 17:57, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: {{userbox | id = | id-c = LightBlue | info = This user is a member of the LGBT community. FireDragonValo (talk) 17:58, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've created an alternate version of the template with the Progress flag at Template:User LGBT/Progress. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 05:47, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please Reinstate My Changes[edit]

Hi,

I would really appreciate it if you reinstated my changes as I believe them to be legitimate and based on substantive research. It is factually accurate that Zack Snyder’s Justice League received critical acclaim and I had edited the page as such. I appreciate your time.

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022[edit]

New Page Review queue June 2022

Hello Padgriffin,

Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

Backlog drive

A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Misc

There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:

Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 10636 articles, as of 22:00, 14 May 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
Notes
  1. ^ not including another ~6,000 redirects
  2. ^ The number of weekly reviews reported in the NPP feed includes redirects, which are not included in the backlog we primarily track.

Concern for the article Generation Alpha[edit]

Ok I agree Gen Z born in a late 90s (20th century) but how about mid and late Gen Z (me I born in 2008 so I'm a late Gen Z) my sister born in 2002 my cousin born in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2009 what century did we born? (explain this year part of Gen Z "2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009") RIGHT we are born in 21st century and part of Gen Z we are the first 21st century generation rather than to Gen Alpha. 112.200.24.15 (talk) 15:11, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@112.200.24.15 The claim you are attempting to remove is the claim that Generation Alpha was the first generation to be born ENTIRELY within the 21st Century. This is true as the oldest Gen Zs were born in the late 90s, which makes Gen Z a generation that was only partially born in the 21st century. Masala dosa[edit]

Hello sir, I feel I am right I made changes in other pages too along with masala dosa page but I didn't get disagreements.I made changes after taking with editors. Hope you review my changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laks883 (talkcontribs) Only Dosa originates from Udupi, masala dosa is matter of Conjecture. https://web.archive.org/web/20040202122118/http://atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/FA24Df05.html I provided citation for Origin of dosa. TuluvaRai123 is editing only one page actually I made changes in other pages too but nobody has complained.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Laks883 (talkcontribs)

If masala dosa originates from Udupi it must have name like "Udupi masala dosa" but I couldn't find source.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Laks883 (talkcontribs)

Please put your messages at the BOTTOM of the talk page. Regarding the article, I would like to question your repeated removal of the claim that this type of Dosa originated in Tuluva, considering the existence of citations (which you removed) stating the otherwise. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 17:26, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can check talk page of masala dosa I dropped messages while changing contents.Again I will not do changes thanks! Laks883 (talk) 17:41, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This TuluvaRai123 using bad words like C****** & abusing editors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laks883 (talkcontribs) 03:56, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please put your talk messages at the BOTTOM of the thread. This is verging on WP:CIR at this point. None of your sources have supported your rationale for edit warring on Dosa-related articles. In addition, you seem to be more than happy to use WP:OR when it suits you while removing sourced content, claiming "lack of evidence". Please stop and attempt to properly use the article's talk page (in a structured and cohesive manner) to discuss changes to the article. Thank you. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 05:22, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I complained about abuse editing is secondary thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laks883 (talkcontribs)

You are still a. failing to put your messages in the correct spot (UNDER the message you are responding to) and b. failing to address the issues regarding your editing behavior. I still have no clue what you're trying to convey with your messages. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 09:36, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up, a page should only be tagged under G5 of the CSD criteria if no-one else have made any sort of substantial edits to the article in question. I've declined three articles you've tagged under G5 for this reason. BangJan1999 18:31, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop vandalizing important LGBT resources.[edit]

Hi, I am sure that you are well intentioned, but you have been engaging in a revert war where you keep re-adding un-encyclopedic entries to important LGBT resource. Please respect the wikipedia rules. Opinions must be cited. Please stop making these articles less scholarly. Your efforts are the opposite of helpful when you degrade the quality of these important articles, so please respect your peers and other editors. 2604:3D08:787A:5400:E149:689:CE68:7276 (talk) 03:26, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:STATUSQUO and discuss the removal the section on the talk page instead of edit warring and WP:SHOUTING in the edit summaries. You are currently in violation of WP:3RR. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 03:29, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You are the on who is repeatedly re-adding the unencyclopedic content. It is a paragraph. Read the edit. It shouldn't be there. I can't find any legitimate citation for it. If you can find one, then PLEASE ADD IT. I looked hard for one, but I cannot find one. So the correct solution is to delete the offending paragraph. And your abuse of the revert system is just that: abuse. STOP ABUSING WIKIPEDIA. IF YOU ADD A CITATION TO THE CONTENT, THEN THERE'S NO PROBLEM.
Grow up. 2604:3D08:787A:5400:E149:689:CE68:7276 (talk) 03:35, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Linked a potential source to the claim on the article's talk page. I'm not personally familiar with the subject, but you can read over that article and see if that'll work. I'm not sure why you decided to title this conversation with the claim that the article in question is an "important LGBT resource", as it has nothing to do with LGBT issues. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 04:08, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Going to reply to both anon and Griff: the paragraph should be removed, and not restored until a reliable source is cited to back up the claims, per policy. Anon, you were right to remove the paragraph, you entered in an acceptable edit summary, and you shouldn't have that edit reverted. Pinging @Wingedserif because they were the first person to revert your edit, and without an edit summary explaining as to why. The only exception to WP:V is that a lead might not include a citation so long as there is a citation backing it up later in the article's body. Me and Griff have discussed this privately and he got my message. I'm going to ignore the all caps stuff because anon is in the right. Also I think that Griff is the first one to be in violation of WP:3RR, but that's just my interpretation of the policy (I don't count reverts from different people part of 3RR).
Anon: I'm sorry you had to go through this. SWinxy (talk) 04:31, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SWinxy 3RR means you can't revert more than 3 times on a single page in 24 hours- I stopped at three, per policy. I'll prolly be stepping away from this topic as a whole, since I don't have much knowledge regarding the subject and was mostly reverting based on what I noticed while doing RPP. My view of retaining the inclusion of the section was per WP:STATUSQUO, which states that "During a dispute discussion, you should not revert away from the status quo ante bellum until a consensus is established." I did neglect adding a CN tag, as I was browsing through the Library to find a supporting source. I rarely get into content disputes like this, and wasn't used to immediately starting a thread on talk prior to making further action, which I admit could've been handled better. I feel like further discussion of this should be done on the talk page instead of my personal talkpage, regarding the ping above, but I will likely not be participating as per the aforementioned message. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 05:04, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried to make a compromise edit; I would ask for more information from anon about what's precisely the problem with that paragraph, ie, details about how it deviates from the content of the article. I've put an explanation on the article talk page so this discussion doesn't get fragmented. —Wingedserif (talk) 10:40, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About my additions to the garlic bread page[edit]

Hey, I kept re-adding my edits to the garlic bread Wikipedia page because I thought there was some kind of glitch that was messing with my edits, did not realise someone was removing them. As for why I added them in the first place, I thought the asexuality garlic bread joke was worth mentioning under “cultural references”, as it seems to be a pretty widespread and well-known joke. If you don’t mind me asking, what was it about my edits that warranted their removal? I’d like to know more so we can reach a solution. YaLikeJaz? (talk) 10:07, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022[edit]

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello Padgriffin,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
