I wanted to add a new sub-section, since this is the first time in world history, and I failed to see the video, when a Head of State physically and literally jumped over the fence: "Thai PM jumps fence to flee protesters."[2] As Filipino, let me share to you, this: our country became a banana Republic due to cursed political instability: non-violent EDSA Revolution of 2001 and 1986 People Power Revolution, where rosary-prayers were used, but history adjudged as evil and favored the politicians and made us jobless. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, as Asian Iron Lady, triumphantly blasted all coup attempts and Philippine political crisis, since 2001. In this regard, I cannot understand why Thailand had to suffer so long, many are injured and dying. For this reason, when I had contributed to this Thai article, I would rather hold my hats-off to better Thailand Wikipedians to make judgmental call-edits on how to improve, expand and clean-up, if ever, this article, in view of their-your country's unique political development, which, I had never witnessed as lawyer, judge and Wikipedian editor. Stub templates

I think stub templates after a footer template looks untidy. Are you trying to tell me that a stub template above a footer template even if it is below an external link section is gross misconduct or I am somehow disrupting the wikipedia community? Don't worry about it amigo. I always think articles look more presentable when a navigation plate is firmly rooted against the bottom of the page, otherwise they can look odd in the middle of a page. I tend to add a stub template after where the text of the article stub finishes as a sort of ruse for people to continue. I'm glad WP:Thailand is up and running, it took me many months to help split it from WP:Southeast Asia and get a wikiproject on it that is deserves. Unfortunately my good friend User:Wisekwai (who has done most of the work on the Cinema of Thailand and List of Thai films who had so looked forward to a seperate project is rarely here these days. As for the stub presentation -as long as they are destubbed!! is all thats important to me, Best. I could certainly use your help in getting some articles on towns and villages in Thailand started on here though. The Bald One ^{White cat} 11:10, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

If the copyright on an image has expired, it does not matter whether that image appears on another website. In this case, the copyright has expired and the image is in the public domain.

Perhaps you meant to say that the image is also available on the Commons under the same name. In that case, the correct tag is {{Db-i8}}. -- Eastmain (talk) 22:42, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

There is no assertion other than the likely-incorrectly-applied license tag that copyright of the image has expired. No author or date information is given. Page in need of rewrite due to copyright violations

Multiple past edits to the page, especially those by User:Pitt 32 and User:NBALIVE2551, appear to have been copy and pasted in part from the Phra Racha Wang Derm Restoration Foundation website and others, including but perhaps not limited to [3], [4], [5] and [6]. It could be that the sources mentioned had also extracted the similar book sources stated in this article. This article has been very well referenced from its original sources. Does that constitute copyright violations for WP? The authors of the above webpages might also have similarly written like this as well--except w/o the sources.

As far as I know, since he cited sources this does not infringe copyright: Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#Plagiarism_that_does_not_infringe_copyright; Wikipedia:Citing sources--you might want to read these--I dont think copyright is hence infringed. Mr Tan (talk) 05:16, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

RE: Football stadia and player images

The most images which I uploaded was photographed by the Thai football fans who posted them in the topics from various Thai football webboard. They release their images to the public domain and allow me to upload them in wikipedia for assist in publicizing about Thai football.

If you think the images that I uploaded is not properly, please delete them immediately. Sorry anyway to trouble you. Mage2one (talk)

I don't see anything in the cited article that backs the claim that he was named after the general, only that his father compared them. God I hope the 012 isn't your mobile prefix. Or that the Thai company selling 012 numbers is better than it's Cambodian counterpart that I pay for my 012 prefix. Listen, Paul you popped up on my watchlist recently moving a Cambodian commune article from Prasat to Prasat Char. Your edit summary said, in part, "to make way for a new article." Hmmm. This is a bit of a problem. There is no Prasat Char commune in Banteay Meanchey, at least according to the '98 census. The commune is simply called Prasat. I agree this is a generic term (and also the name of several other settlements in Cambodia) but that really calls for a DAB page and some serious thought about a new name - not a counter move. Another editor helpfully moved the article from Prasat Char to Prasat in August. Now you've moved it back, but unfortunately to the wrong name. I'd rather not move it back and start an edit war. I originally thought of creating an article on the term prasat, but decided against it and so now the page is just a disambiguation. Sorry for the improper move though; I just don't know anything about Cambodian provincial administration. If the commune is called Prasat, then, I think it would be sensible to move the page to Prasat (commune), as to be in line with Thma Puok (commune), etc. --Paul_012 ^(talk) 15:02, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Don't give up on the Prasat article idea - It would be a great article. Unfortunately, we have three different naming conventions for communes at the moment. I think your idea is probably the best solution. But at the moment it would be the exception rather than the norm. "The Cat-Book Poems"?

Hi Paul. A question to you as Thai language "expert": did you ever hear of a certain "The Cat-Book Poems" (written in 14. century(!), now allegedly in the National Library in Bangkok)? I stumbled upon this book in Korat, an article about a Thai race of cats. As many "facts" in this article are IMHO not very thoroughly researched, I suspect the existence of a book with cat poems. (In the corresponding article in Thai Wikipedia there is only a khoi-manuscript - สมุดข่อย mentioned.)

As my knowledge of Thai language/script is still quite limited, its very hard for me to find Thai information about this topic in the internet. --hdamm (talk) 17:13, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I understand the khoi manuscript is what is being referred to. This article from Sakulthai Magazine is the most authoritative source about the manuscript I could find in a brief web search. It reproduces content from a 2004 diary published by Department of Fine Arts, which details a manuscript sixteen samut thai in length, six of which are written in prose and the others set in poem, which is indeed kept at the National Library. The age of the manuscript isn't mentioned, but "1350–1767" likely just means that it supposedly dates to the Ayutthaya Period. The contents of the poems seem to have been circulated quite a lot, appearing on websites such as this. --Paul_012 ^(talk) 17:59, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

It can't be moved back by peons like me now. Would you mind posting a request for someone with More Power to come take care of it? I'm not very familiar with that whole process. Thanks. Speaking of which, they're adding some good content. The incident with the renaming is fairly minor. What's more troubling is that their information doesn't always seem to be very accurate, and they don't source. For example, translating Chao Chom Manda as Princess Consort is wrong, as far as I know. Isn't a Princess Consort a consort born as royalty, while a Chao Chom (Manda) was born a commoner? Looking around, it seems like Royal Consort might be the correct equivalent term used in English. Either way, it strikes me that they might be too eager to aggrandize titles and such in English.

Some of their English spellings of the royal names seem problematic, especially without sources. Other times it's just a lack of attention to detail, like using multiple spellings of the same royal's name within one article (Voralaksana/Voraluksana), etc. Some of that is the side-effect of being non-native English users, which is okay. As with everything around here, we'll just have to keep an eye out. As our local bridge to the native Thai world, I was curious what you think of their involvement. Meaning of "Abhisit"

Thank you for helping me correct my gross error on the award of PM Abhisit's family name. Can you find someone to check the Chinese-language reference for "PM Abhisit, himself a fourth-generation Thai Chinese, is of this lineage," to see if it supports the claim: I can't read it. 23

As to the meaning of his given name, I'm not pleased with the way it reads now:

(PM Abhisit's given name should be preceded by an honorific, as otherwise it reverts to a noun signifying privilege; monopoly, exclusive right; elite.)[24][25] PM Abhisit has two sisters: child psychiatrist Alisa Wacharasindhu and author Ngarmpun Vejjajiva.[26]

I'd like to move the parenthetical comment to the end of the section, remove the parentheses, and expand it to establish his name's "auspicious" beginning:

Thai people don't just pick names at random or ones that sound nice or have good meanings. Most of them would consult an astrologer or monk in order to choose a name that is auspicious and would bring the child plenty of good luck in their life. Thai people believe so much in auspicious names, that if they feel that their name hasn't brought them enough good luck they will change it! ( ref, which has lots of questions, but few answers!)

Then go on explain how it is used in the current political environment by his enemies. Can't be done without references! (Thaksin's article needs a somewhat similar entry on his childhood play-name that has his enemies lampooning him as a cat!) Pawyilee (talk) 14:19, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

RE: Questions about Template:PermissionOTRS

The template should be placed by OTRS volunteers. We (OTRS agents) do confirm tickets on a regular basis by request of any editor. In this specific case, the user created the article and it was deleted as a copyright violation. They then emailed us with permission to use the information (as they owned the copyright on the other website) and the OTRS agent told them to add that tag to the page. While I understand why they did it, this is rare and has been avoided whenever possible. I've sent a note to the OTRS agent and also have confirmed the ticket. Thank you Paul for your input, the reassessment, and for occasionally editing out the vandalism and spam. I practically wrote the entire article as it stands today, and I am aware of its inadequacies. Most of it is due to stabbing at it over an extended period. Probably few Wikipedia articles get written in one go. Among my other Wiki projects, Thailand Education has already been scheduled for continuous improvement, time permitting, along the lines you suggested. NickAlphabeta/Alphabeta Translation Services

The entire content of the page was: "Alphabeta is a translation company located in Bangkok, Thailand and was founded in June 2006 by Nick Pugh and Chommanee Suthinak. It offers translations to and from all modern languages. As it is a". So I deleted this because it was an entry on a company that didn't assert any significance. I probably should've used WP:CSD#G11 instead. Either way, I believe the material to be promotional and unsuitable in both article- and userspace. If said user returns and starts showing interest in editing a wider range of WP articles, I'd happily consider giving them some leeway of userspace use. - Mgm|^(talk) 10:51, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Port Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International

Hi, thanks for your attention to these articles, but I think Hot Cat may be a little too aggressive in dealing with "overcategorization" in regard to agencies and state companies such as these; I had to go back and replace "Category:Government of Thailand" / "Category:Government agencies of Thailand" by hand, as both of these are owned and operated by the government of Thailand. Chao Phraya River +++

You know - editors are supposed to check their edits when using editing enhancement software. You must not have, when removing Category:Transport in Thailand from Chao Phraya River; please read this section of the article; Chao Phraya River#Transportation. Virtually every body of water is capable of hosting transportation, and obviously we wouldn't want to categorize every body of water in Thailand under that category. The section in question is really a stub-section serving to link to Chao Phraya Express Boat, which is already nicely categorized under Category:Water transport in Thailand. Please strongly consider re-categorizing the page under that category, if you still disagree with the removal. Also, I'd like to clarify that HotCat does not suggest or semi-automate edits. It simply provides an editing interface short-cut, and the category removals were scrutinized by myself independently of any automated suggestions. --Paul_012 ^(talk) 13:38, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, in regard to Bangkok, there are at least 15 commuter boat lines operating on the Chao Phraya River; please see Template:Bangkok Transportation Systems. Each of the boat line articles is about the boat line itself, not the transportation network it operates on. I think maybe Chao Phraya River is on the level of Canals of Amsterdam or the IRT in New York in its role in transport in the city. The river might have a similar "transport-nature" as the "Roads in Bangkok" or "Expressways in Bangkok". The section I quoted, Chao Phraya River#Transportation, is quite underwritten, it does not explain the multitude of services operating on the Chao Phraya system of riverways and canals. While any body of water can theoretically support water transportation, transportation on the very extensive, complicated and well-developed Chao Phraya System is a full scale industry, it's quite important to the city. Check the articles on the Template, it may be apparent that my categorization is justified. -- When I checked through this area recently I found that there are more than 5 boat transport companies not listed on the template. --Mr Accountable (talk) 13:52, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Thailand government agencies

In writing articles about companies, government ministries and government agencies, I have worked to populate Category:Government of Tanzania, Category:Government of Cambodia and Category:Companies of Vietnam; Southeast Asia and Africa are areas I normally work on. In looking at Category:Cabinet Departments of Thailand, Category:Government agencies of Thailand and the list at and SET50 and SET100, there are many articles to be edited and written, including Ministry of Health and its many attendant agencies; if your categorization work takes you through these categories, would it be possible to look through for the addition of proper Thai content?
