Pipette

Thanks for the note, that was very polite (while I was not, sorry). I must admit that a war over the colour of pipette tips would be worthwhile: it would be in the record books as the most pointless war in wikipedia! I reinstated (reverted it back now) the colour thing as it was cryptically mentioned twice on the pipette article before I put my hands on it, which was so messy (but all the basic/core pages are in molbio). It still is quite messy, but at least it is free of repetitions (in particular those damn eye pipettes) and the vacuum assisted pipettes are not in a mess.
In other words, I would be than happy for other people to edit pipette and air pipette as it is not my pet page (nor do I want it to be). --Squidonius (talk) 14:39, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nonetheless, thank you for your contributions! Pdcook (talk) 15:17, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion Converted to PROD: Guillermo Torres

Hello Pdcook, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have changed a page you tagged (Guillermo Torres) from being tagged for speedy deletion to being tagged for proposed deletion. The speedy deletion criteria are very narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again!  Skomorokh, barbarian  18:03, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So then I guess we can all create unsourced pages about how great we are and how we've worked with so many celebrities. Pdcook (talk) 12:56, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Toronto Jones

It's up to you to nominate it for deletion, but there isn't much I can do about it. It's a very obscure show, that hasn't even aired yet - I wish there was more I could do, but it's not that big of a deal. I was only trying to add knowledge, and if you want to deprive the internet of that, I guess there is very little I can do to stop you. Danger408 (talk) 18:01, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The main goal of Wikipedia is to organize and distribute knowledge. However, that knowledge has to be supported by reliable 3rd party sources. Can you at least provide a link to the network that is airing it that shows Toronto Jones in the lineup? Thanks, Pdcook (talk) 18:22, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look around, but it's not my responsibility - this is not my show. This being said, I do not believe it to be a hoax. but as an aficionado of Canadian TV (I have several edits to both the Regenesis and Stormworld pages) I thought I would add something new to the site. As of now, that's the best I can do. Danger408 (talk) 18:45, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it is not your show, but you did create the article and therefore you must have gotten that information from somewhere. Perhaps you can share that source? Pdcook (talk) 18:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC).[reply]
A few people I know (along with myself) received a promotional DVD of the pilot as one of my friend's father works for the company producing the show. I based the page on that episode, and what I found on the main website. Danger408 (talk) 18:57, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you must know, here's the whole story. Over the summer I came up with the idea for the show, though it was less drama on more comedy oriented. I even wrote a few scripts (the episodes I listed are based on the script) with the intention of making this into a 5 minute or less web series (as I still plan on doing). In terms of cliptid, I've had that site for almost a year now, and never did used it for anything, so I figured I might as well make it into a fake page. The blog, on the other hand is real, and I do plan on adding to it. Danger408 (talk) 21:21, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And also, CIS: Underwater is another show my friends are trying to develop. Its like an animated CSI (or in this case, Canadian Investigation Squad) that solves crimes that take place in an underwater lab. Basically, Sealab meets CSI: Miami. Danger408 (talk) 21:26, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wish you luck with your screen writing career. However, it is unfortunate that you felt it necessary to perpetrate a hoax on Wikipedia. Many take this project seriously and our goal is to produce a high quality and informative encyclopedia. Your actions make this mission difficult and I encourage you to leave us alone from now on. Pdcook (talk) 21:28, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I gotta say, that was a little rude. I was trying to be nice about the whole thing, I did tell you why I did it. Danger408 (talk) 21:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did say "I wish you luck..." Pdcook (talk) 21:31, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Danger408 (talk) 21:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

At Emotion Coaster Deletion

It is real. On a video for Ferrari World it shows it and some webcams on the official site sometimes show it. So it is real. If you have any concerns about that, contact me at Theguywhohatestwitter (talk) 23:28, 5 November 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Let's have this conversation on the article's talk page. Pdcook (talk) 00:29, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I removed your request for a third opinion for the coconut doughnut article, as third opinions can only be provided when there are exactly two editors in disagreement. If I have made a mistake or if you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. meamemg (talk) 01:57, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guillermo Torres

I have found some additional information about Guillermo Torres, but possibly not enough to prove notability. -- Eastmain (talk) 06:43, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It turns out that it does. Good job digging it up! Pdcook (talk) 13:55, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Salford Professors

David Percy now extensively updated and I believe now meets WP:PROF. I think the other one already meets the same, but I will add additional referencing in due course. Steve-Ho (talk) 10:03, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the 9/12 article

first of all, please do not post threats on my talk page

second, you may want to read the sources for the Glenn Beck article, there's nothing wrong with my edits. you are simply pushing your POV

Reliefappearance (talk) 15:02, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I put a warning template on your talk page, as I do for all vandals. Yes, I am pushing my POV, which is WP:5 pillars. If you think I'm a Glenn Beck fan, you're wrong; I'm quite liberal. Regards, Pdcook (talk) 15:14, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

from above

why would you delete my article - it is a famous institute? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithy82232 (talkcontribs) 14:58, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It did not meet the criteria for inclusion per WP:notability as written. Please feel free to write it again, but first read Wikipedia:5 Pillars. Also, I am not an admin so I didn't delete it. I simply nominated it for deletion. An admin agreed with me and deleted it. Pdcook (talk) 15:11, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Signing warnings

Hi. Thanks for the vandal patrolling. It is really helpful to admins like myself when following up on WP:AIV reports if when folks leave u3, u4, and u4im messages like you did on User talk:Reliefappearance that there be a signature with a timestamp (~~~~) after the warning so we can easily see when the last warning was left. This is especially important on IP editors. Otherwise we have to match the warning to the history and compare that to the last edit, with is about twice as complex. That being said, thanks for the warnings being issued. Most folks like you tend to use Twinkle to add such warnings. It almost automates the issuing of warnings and such, and it ensures that you sign. Check it out. Please keep up the great work. Toddst1 (talk) 16:26, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I simply forgot to sign it. My history shows that I usually remember! Thanks for looking into this issue. Pdcook (talk) 16:28, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Burns Family Biographies

First - I hope I am following correct procedure in contacting you this way? Second, thank you for your helpful comments, which I am trying to take on board. I am beginning to get to grips with Wikipedia, but it is a steep learning curve.

You asked for middle names, or initials of three of my recent entries. Sadly, they were uncooperative in this respect! Shipsview (talk) 14:39, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allan Butler Churchill

Thank you for your input. It is my first attempt and I obviously have a lot to learn. Apart from anything else I couldn't work out how to insert a copyright tag with the image and then there are so many tags. It was an image taken by myself and don't mind it being in the public domain. Would it be better to withdraw the article until I'm more proficient instead of waiting for a deletion? --Martinsmeaton (talk) 18:27, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Scarf

Do you not think he meets notability for WP:PROF under (8) - "The person is or has been an editor-in-chief of a major well-established journal in their subject area" - given his editorship of the IMA Journal of Mathematics [1] and details of peer review of that journal/ the fact that Scarf was the initial editor of that journal "We are delighted to announce that Rogemar Mamon and Aris Syntetos have joined Phil Scarf as editors of the journal" Steve-Ho (talk) 21:27, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The reference I provided clearly says "Introducing two new editors in 2009 -We are delighted to announce that Rogemar Mamon and Aris Syntetos have joined Phil Scarf as editors of the journal. Rogemar is based at the University of Western Ontario and Aris is based at the University of Salford. This new team reflects the international and thematic scope of the journal." If Phil Scarf was the original editor and the other two have joined him as editors, that would suggest that (at least for the period before Rogemar Mamon and Aris Syntetos became editors) he would have been editor in chief (as he would have been the only editor!) Does that help? Steve-Ho (talk) 17:38, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This link also suggests there are three editors and a whole bunch of sub editors. Whilst this archive.org grab from 2007 suggests he was one of three editors then? Steve-Ho (talk) 17:44, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can find him as an editor since October 2004, using archive.org to retrieve past pages. At that point he became one of three editors of the same journal. He is the only consistent editor of the three editors since that point - over 5 years, so I would think that makes him the senior editor for the Journal, so in effect Editor-in-Chief Steve-Ho (talk) 17:59, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the Oxford University Press published journals for the IMA, it seems that only one of the journals has an editor-in-chief, the others seem to have two/ three editors and then various Associate Editors. There is one journal, which seems to have four editors who are all called 'editors-in-chief' here!!

PROD now removed. Steve-Ho (talk) 21:59, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allan Churchill Butler

Regarding the notability of this person surely the fact that he occupies a chapter of a book about a very notorious person (Herzog, Arthur (2003). Vesco: From Wall Street to Castro's Cuba The Rise, Fall, and Exile of the King of White Collar Crime. New York: iUniverse. pp. 36-39. ISBN 0-595-27209-6) would be enough but beyond that he provides valid links in a past society.--Martinsmeaton (talk) 17:02, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IMO Allan Churchill Butler doesn't quite qualify as notable, but I won't seek deletion. If someone else feels strongly that it should be deleted, they can see my issues on that article's talk page and do something about it. Pdcook (talk) 17:58, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Paper and pulp industry in Dryden, Ontario

FYI, since your vote I've cleaned up the Paper and pulp industry in Dryden, Ontario article a bit. It may not change your mind, but I thought I would let you know.--Epeefleche (talk) 08:50, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed prod tag because an editor protested its deletion on the talk page. WP:PROD is only for non-controversial deletions.

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Baron Stage, which you proposed for deletion, because I think that the deletion of this article may be controversial. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! -- Atama 06:52, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update. Regards, PDCook (talk) 13:28, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your PROD of Phrasal verbs1

Good call Pdcook -- what a bizarre and pointless article. I was a step bolder than you though and just redirected it to Phrasal verb and speedied it as an unlikely typo. Thought I'd let you know-- Glenfarclas (talk) 05:20, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks pdcook, I have provided 3 refrences. Actually Internet in this part of world has come recently. and we dont have much web sources for this person. but i know about this person from lot of people and even local MLA and other sources are persent. People from Gurais have little written records. this Valley has remained cut off from rest of the world for a pretty long time. Still i will try finding more sources. and if i am unable to do that. you can delete the article Zahid Samoon 15:30, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi! You edited my page. I want you to come to Moronpedia! This is the link. [2] DellTG5 (talk) 19:17, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with my article

As you know you have edited my page. I'm not related to this artist but I'm just interested to make an article about my favorite artist. As I see in other artist's pages they thing you don't allow to add, there in the most articles of Wikipedia. Could you let me know exactly what can I do? Please keep in mind and check about what I've noticed. Thank you for your time! Marios Tofi (talk) 21:00, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How can I resolve the problem? Could you let me know please? I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm trying to find out what's going on. Help me please! Marios Tofi (talk) 21:10, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see for example about Michael Jackson article, Sakis Rouvas, Mariah Carey, etc. They've got Facebook links, Twitter links, etc. So why don't you remove all this content to the other articles? There are exceptions? If yes, why? I also didn't get what do you mean about User:Emusicmag. Marios Tofi (talk) 21:13, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay Pdcook! I will do my best to fix the problems. I really appreciate your help and I'm sorry for doing anything annoying. Marios Tofi (talk) 21:21, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thakuri

When you post user warnings, please look at the user talk page to see what's already there. There was no point in telling User talk:MallArun not to change articles, when the only one he changed, Thakuri (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch, had been created and edited only by himself. I therefore removed the warning. That said, I agree with your changing the article to a redirect; this is something I wanted to do after a month if MallArun wouldn't reply (which is BTW also why I didn't add a merge template on the target article). — Sebastian 04:19, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I gave user MallArun a general notice for not including reliable sources. Given that no sources were given in the Thakuri article, I think the warning was valid. Regards, PDCook (talk) 13:04, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
