There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles

  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

July 2013[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. ✉→Arctic Kangaroo←✎ 06:45, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peter, if...[edit]

you want to help with fighting vandalism, you can just tell me and I can guide you if you want me to. If you don't, then it's also fine.
✉→Arctic Kangaroo←✎ 16:44, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arctic, thanks a lot! So far, no vandalism happened :) Should I get back in touch with you when I encounter it? Thanks!!

What I meant was using recent changes patrolling to fight vandalism. If you are not doing RCP, then you don't need to go through the course. Even if you do RCP, it is also optional to take the course. The course only guides you through and teaches you more about fighting vandalism if you were to become a vandal fighter "expert". Cheers. ✉→Arctic Kangaroo←✎ 17:07, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse talkback[edit]

Hello, I answered your question at the Teahouse. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:52, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:03, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

COI disclosure/paid editing[edit]

Hello. I noticed the extensive discussion regarding your edits at the conflict of interest noticeboard. I must note that if you in a paid position with the World Economic Forum, then a higher level of disclosure is mandatory per Wikipedia's paid editing disclosure policy. You do not have to be paid specifically for your edits; merely being an employee of the organization you're writing about is enough to trigger this requirement.

To do so, simply replace the existing {{UserboxCOI}} template on your userpage with the {{paid}} template. In your case, it would take this form:

{{paid|employer=World Economic Forum}}

It might seem minor, but the distinction between paid vs. unpaid conflict of interest is an important one. Thank you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:01, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
