You corrected my acronym error in World Association of Newspapers; but I didn't quite understand your explanatory edit summary. Could you try to explain again using different words? I think there's something crucial here which I should have come to understand before now. I suspect that I'm missing something fundamental.

Aha! Thank you. Your edit seems elegant -- very nice. I will re-visit other articles where I could have handled acronyms more effectively. Apparently I needed just this one more step, the illustrative examples ... and now I do understand. The following is an example of my first edit using the method you've suggested:

Bad automated AWB edit to Dave Arneson[edit]

In this edit you changed "Foundary" to "Foundry". I'm guessing this was an automated recommendation by AWB. Unfortunately AWB didn't notice that "Foundary" is a last name and is spelled correctly. This article was only on Wikipedia for three minutes before you tagged it as an orphan. I don't think that is necessary and a little overboard. How can you expect an article to have other articles linked to it (in Wikipedia) in under three minutes? Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant[edit]

Thank you very much indeed for converting all those bare URLs into proper footnotes. The number of editors who leave bare URLs has increased a great deal recently. I was so concerned that I put a note about it on the Talk page here. Did I understand your edit summary to mean you used Reflinks? I thought that tool was down, owing to a dispute between its owner and Wikimedia. It was invaluable for converting bare URLs. The manual method using cite templates is very laborious. I have tried sending editors who leave bare URLs a template which I devised giving very simple instructions on how to use the edit cite templates, but it is usually ignored. --P123ct1 (talk) 08:28, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried the version of Reflinks that User:Zhaofeng Li/Reflinks provides a link for, but nothing happens, whether I put in the name of the page (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) or a specific bare URL. @P123ct1 first I noticed in running it on this article that a bare link of the form <ref>http://www.example.com</ref> was missed and had to be manually expanded. The tool has a fix page button which triggers it to run, After this it will return with an internally generated preview of just the changes. Nothing is sent to the wiki just yet although it may appear so. At this stage there should be a second button at the bottom of the page to actually send this to the wiki. This will open a preview in the wiki editor for final review before actually submitting. I ran it via the first form which takes an article name.
