Rfa thanks

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. Thanks again for your support!--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 03:49, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is my honour to present the very prestigious Where Has Your Script Been All These Years Award to Ilmari Karonen and PhilKnight for their work on search scripts leading to the "search links" user script. Thanks, Merzul (talk) 14:31, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removals from Himalayan salt

Regardless of how ridiculous the claims made by the marketers of "Himalayan salt," they are crucial to an understanding of this marketing phenomenon. You blanked several without comment, without qualifying them by saying "The marketers claim that the lamps 'balance a room's energy', or that the salt has a 'perfect mixture' of minerals, etc. etc. I ask that you please go back and take a look, so that we have the most encyclopedic article possible. The claims are those who are making them (and believing them) are worthy of explication, if only in a single sentence or two, or brief paragraph. Badagnani (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Color blind racism

The rather odd Color blind racism has been recreated. The old one never bothered me too much, but this new page is just dumb. --Knulclunk (talk) 02:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Aleena's RfA

PhilKnight...Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. Through it I have become aware of a great many people who can help me in my future editing endeavors. Even though I was not promoted, your support shows that I still have something to contribute to Wikipedia, even if it is minor edits to fix spelling and grammar to working in WikiProjects to help others make great articles. If you wish to further discuss the nomination, please use its talk page. Stop by my talk page anytime, even if it is just to say hello. Have a wonderful day! - LA @ 04:09, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you from Horologium

I look forward to using the tools you have granted me to aid the project. I would like to give special thanks to Wizardman, Black Falcon and jc37 for nominating me. — Horologium

Deleting Marcelo Alonso

Phil, I'm new to Wikipedia and noticed that you deleted the page I built on Marcelo Alonso. Your reason for deleting it was "It is an article about a No indication of notability, seems to be the usual martial arts instructor. that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. ([[WP:CSD#A7|CSD)" I wasn't familiar with this requirement when I created the page and maybe I didn't communicate the importance of Mr. Alonso enough to qualify for a Wikipedia page. I can assure you that his accomplishments in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are by no doubt "notable" and many trainers and competitors on Wikipedia are of lesser "notability." Are you an expert on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and/or familiar with Mr Alonso's history, or did you make your decision based only off of what you read with no understanding of the sport? If it is the latter, I think we should consult experts in the area who are familiar with Mr. Alonso like Carlson Gracie Jr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Gracie%2C_Jr.), Mario Sperry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Sperry) or Wallid Ismail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallid_Ismail). Please help me understand how we can proceed with this. Thanks, Aaron Aaronbird (talk) 01:34, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Generation X

Hello PhilKnight

Please, the interwiki of Generation X, to pt.wiki, is incorrect, because pt:Geração X is Generation X (comics).

Thanks Adailton (talk) 11:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also re. Generation X: What are your thoughts with respect to un-protecting the article? I see that it's been nearly a month and am unaware of anything that is pending. Thanks 24.98.135.148 (talk) 21:36, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help with another user

I noticed that you had warned OddibeKerfeld (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) (aka Oddibe (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)) recently about some edits he made that violate WP:BLP. He has been insisting on including old DWI information about a newscaster on a tv station article (KXAN-TV)). I was told by another editor who has since left Wikipedia that this was in violation of WP:BLP. If it isn't in violation, then fine, I won't do anything, but if it is, then I am at wits end about what to do. Can you please advise or work with OddibeKerfeld? Poison Sky

Hi; could you please look at this, and consider changing the page to the version supported by the 3:1 consensus on the talkpage? Thanks. TreasuryTagtc 18:25, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TreasuryTag, I didn't notice that he made yet another revert - considering he is way over 3RR, I've blocked him, and unprotected the article. PhilKnight (talk) 18:32, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the template you placed on his page (which he then deleted!) said 1 week block; you blocked for 24 hours. Which was a mistake? I'm guessing it should have been a week's block given the 7/8 reverts in 24hrs and claiming consensus and being incivil and disruptive, but your call, obviously! Cheers for unprotecting. TreasuryTagtc 19:07, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi; perhaps you missed my comment above... :-) TreasuryTagtc 11:56, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi TreasuryTag, I've replied by email. PhilKnight (talk) 12:24, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was just wondering the same thing. Do I get an exclusive email too? = ) --Cameron (t|p|c) 20:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may have deleted this by mistake. This is the documentation for Template:Recap and it's still in use. Please restore it when you get a chance. Thanks. Equazcion /C 12:27, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi equazcion, yes, when I was attempting to delete a redirect, I some how managed to delete the target of the redirect instead. Thanks for letting me know. PhilKnight (talk) 12:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and thanks for the quick restoration. Equazcion /C 12:37, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I saw you added an ifd tag, but it's not listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2008 May 8#Image:Candace.jpg. --Geniac (talk) 14:10, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rfb participation thanks

Hello, Phil.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your support. -- Avi (talk) 17:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Belated thanks

Wow, I just realized I didn't thank you for the barnstar. So, thanks. As a word of excuse, shiny objects have a way of distracting me and making me forget stuff, so that's why I wasn't "diligent" in thanking for the shiny star. So again, thanks a lot! I really appreciate it. Happy editing! Thingg 15:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WBOSITG's RfA

aaargh

As somebody with limited Wiki editing experience, I'm outta my depth here. Rachel Pollack has repeatedly had weird stuff about her vagina, her dog, etc added to the article. It's naturally distressing to her. Since she's not a very computer literate person, she's at a loss to figure out what to do. Me, I'm a friend who's 'a computer person', but I'm gettign lost in the not always transparent or friendly wikilegalisms. Found this page. You seem like a good sort. So I'm begging you to do a personal favor and have a look at what's been going on with this page. A block of really raw material (latest add was by spidertribetarot) has been repeatedly inserted. thanks --Anniepoo (talk) 03:15, 14 May 2008 (UTC) who is not a wikilawyer[reply]

Hi Anniepoo, looking at the article history, there appears to be several sock puppet accounts pushing to include dubious content. I'll add the page to my watchlist, and help if I can. PhilKnight (talk) 10:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PrP Structure

Hey, I think you made a mistake in redirecting PrP structure to prion. The article was far more extensive than the relevant section in prion is, and it is far too large to be merged into the main article. Right now we've lost loads of information which isn't anywhere else in wikipedia. Is it OK if I revert it back? Snellios (talk) 13:22, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Snellios, I've self reverted. PhilKnight (talk) 16:23, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

speedy of "working in partnership programme"

hi, why did you speedy tag the "working in partnership programme" as spam? Just what "entity" do you think is being promoted by the article? The article isn't great, but it's a good start and is being worked on. UK health care is complex, especially the funding for different services. This could have been a good solid article, but you an d moonriddengirl have probably driven the editor away. Dan Beale-Cocks 14:43, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan, I've opened a discussion about the article.--PhilKnight (talk) 16:23, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Dan, Thank you so much for your kind support. That is exactly it. UK health care system IS complex but quite unique as well as it provides free care to people. I was trying to bring to the attention of people around the world this new resource that they have put out in England to help people. I know here on wiki I have to learn to edit better, but I am trying to slowly bring all the free resources they have to wiki making sure that copyright of the materials is not infringed. I will write to Phil, let's see what he says. Best wishes and take care. Bonhomie1 (talk) 20:34, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A peek at my talk page when you find time!

Hello, Do take a look here at my talk page when you find time. I have a new user who has been looking for you. My previous experience with this user has only shown me that he is a friendly editor with mild disregard for policy, more from ignorance than from intention! I have referred him to you directly at his talk page. Just thought of letting you know. Cheers. Prashanthns (talk) 18:04, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

moved from your user page

Phil, congratulations on your award. You must be very good to get this award. I know I am not a very good editor, but I can assure you I want to do something useful by giving back to wiki all the helpful things it has done for me so far. The health care system in the UK is quite unique as it provides free care to people. This WiPP programme now provides free useful tools which can be used by people free and also by professionals to help people. I am trying slowly to bring the items to the attention of wiki users making sure that no copyright is infringed. I will have to go slowly, so please bear with me. There is no money to be made by anyone. And basically my idea is that wiki will only signpost the material. People can become aware and then use the materials through the actual websites which will provide them. Hope this is ok with you. Best wishes. Bonhomie1 (talk) 20:41, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The above was pasted on your user page perhaps unintentionally by the above user, who was trying to contact you. Have taken the liberty of putting it here. Prashanthns (talk) 20:52, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Prashanthns, also I've added a {{cleanup}} tag, and given up on ideas about deleting the article. PhilKnight (talk) 20:57, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! Good news then for our friend, although, he rrrreally needs to understand policy well before he goes at it. He seems to assume some leeway, although in good faith!:). Will try to drop by at the article for clean-up if I get down to that!Cheers.   Prashanthns (talk) 21:08, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
