While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The Countryman's Guide to the South-east.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:The Countryman's Guide to the South-east.jpg. Image request etc

Hi..Hope all well. May I request help with

  • Before freedom: Nehru's letters to his sister 1909-1947 - This was published in 2000 and another edition in 2004, by his niece. Around 1963, his letters to his sister were published by his sister. Does that mean they count as two separate books? I have a copy of the 2004 edition. Can you put up an image if possible? I'll expand as dyk would be good. Feel free to step in.
The 1963 collection is a different book if the selection is different. You could do a separate article if you have enough to say. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:56, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
Thank you... I'll expand this one and then see. The image makes the article alive..thank youWhispyhistory (talk) 19:30, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
Keep it in one article unless there is plenty. I assume they are both drawn from the same archive. Philafrenzy (talk) 19:44, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
ok...I'll see what I find on the original one. Whispyhistory (talk) 21:40, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
If you ever find yourself at a loose end for what to edit (unlikely perhaps), revisit the very first articles you wrote and you will quickly find improvements to make and ideas for new articles. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:03, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
  • this was on my mind with regards to what I red linked John de Costa...a common name makes it difficult to research. If you are interested...can you stub and I'll work on it. Thank you as always Whispyhistory (talk) 10:11, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
All the sources are about his sermon. You would need more. There may be more in offline Rhodesian sources but we can't access those. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:23, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Very refreshing. By the way, don't underestimate how far a snail can go, 31,540 metres per year according to the internet. Of course that is the fastest snails only, the Usain Bolt of snails. They also like beer. Perhaps that helps. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:01, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
Interesting. Please check someone's message on my talk page...I have no idea Whispyhistory (talk) 18:04, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

cropping

Can you crop [1]? The image of brother and sister. Whispyhistory (talk) 13:49, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Done. The original is not great quality. You might want to check that date. She was born in 1900. Philafrenzy (talk) 16:53, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
The date under the image in her daughter's book says 1901/02 Whispyhistory (talk) 17:02, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
But that is not a 2 year old child is it? Philafrenzy (talk) 17:03, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
could be...before he went to England...definitely before she was 4. I'll see if any other source. In those days, dob were not so accurate. Whispyhistory (talk) 17:04, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Are you saying she wasn't born in 1900? Philafrenzy (talk) 17:07, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
We have the exact date in her article. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:08, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
No...she was probably and she must about 1 1/2- 2 1/2 in the picture. Whispyhistory (talk) 17:09, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
ok....Whispyhistory (talk) 17:10, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
So maybe the year is right. I would just remove the year personally. It's vague and also not important. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:14, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Did you notice the two possibly notable doctors at the end of Anderson? Philafrenzy (talk) 19:23, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
ok and I will check Anderson. Whispyhistory (talk) 20:33, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Is this notable? (Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit's husband). Do you want to stub? He was a debonair lawyer-linguist, who could speak eleven European languages fluently, a good scholar who translated Kalhana's Rajatarangini into English
I looked but is there anything other than the translation? Plenty of sources but they all relate to his marriage. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:42, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
A few other translations [2]...will look deeper as his marriage appears first in searches. Thanks for looking. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:03, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
A lot of those are duplicates. Translating can be significant but ideally we would have multiple works and something else too other than family connections. Philafrenzy (talk) 07:57, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
I'll come back to this tomorrow, but your suggestions would be good. Whispyhistory (talk) 15:36, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

See MOS:POSTNOM. Basically, it is for honours which academic achievements are not. And leave out the honorary ones (they are not honours as such). You can cover it all in the body however. Philafrenzy (talk) 09:05, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
?Like this KBE FRCGP ...but the MD doesn't show Whispyhistory (talk) 09:24, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
Yes, MD is an academic qualification like PhD which also shouldn't be in the lead, or "Dr." Even FRCGP, FRCP, etc possibly shouldn't be in unless it is selective and by election. Basically, if you earn it by study or get it automatically it should be in the body but not the lead. Philafrenzy (talk) 09:28, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
Added MD in body of article. I will try and finish more of Silverman....turned out to be more interesting when the hand signs and Sherlock Holmes came in. Please check DYK and I will also look at . Thank you Whispyhistory (talk) 09:54, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
Hi there! I'm one of J. R. L. Anderson's grandsons and just wanted to say thanks for your work on his page. I never met my grandfather - he died almost 20 years before I was born - and this may seem strange but I've actually learned an awful lot about him as a result of your work. It's also very pleasing for the rest of our family to see other people having the opportunity to learn about him. Thanks for taking the time to start the page up! (Also @Whispyhistory: @MilborneOne:) Good to see this one on DYK tonight. His The Capital-by-the-Sea of 1953 is one of the most interesting and useful books about Brighton in my collection, despite its small size. Fact-filled, lively and admirably unsentimental, looking forward to the big changes that were about to happen (and some very useful detail about some big changes that didn't happen). Unfortunately not; he's gone with a reproduction of the familiar picture of Richard Russell on the frontispiece instead! One thing of possible note is that according to his Preface he was living at 26 Windlesham Gardens (in the Seven Dials area of town) when it was published in 1953. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 21:21, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, I have often mined frontispieces for such nuggets. Does your copy have a biography of him inside the back flap? Philafrenzy (talk) 21:43, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
Sadly not; nothing after the modest index, which itself follows the very abrupt ending (one moment he is in Poynings village discussing Poynings' Law; about two sentences later he is back in central Brighton and finishing with the end!). Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 22:10, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

please do your magic here. Also, maybe a hook with Bengal gruel might work. Whispyhistory (talk) 20:20, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
@Philafrenzy: Do you want to stub London medical students at Belsen. I'm not sure what the title should be. The number also varies. Apparently the intention was to send 100 students. They came from 9 medical schools in London. In the totals from all the individual schools, which are on the Imperial war museum website, they count up to 95. I have seen 95, 96 and 97 quoted too. Can there be a category for them...many became notable for other reasons eg Ian Whimster, and their story was included in a feature film. Here are some images [10]
Thanks for students....it is appearing a more mammouth of a task than I initially thought. A lot of redlinks too.
  • Is there an appropriate infobox for the London students? Should there be a separate article in a list?
  • Any image for Paton or Meiklejohn?
  • ??DYK Paton..thoughts. Whispyhistory (talk) 09:41, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
