Hello! Your submission of J. H. Curle at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. publisher and reporting bias...not a conspiracy, the story is significant even though there could have been more documented about it. It opens the door to Keith Castle, Andrew De La Pena (?stub) and more. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:12, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Ehud Arye Laniad

Wikipedia is in receipt of communication regarding File:Ehud Arye Laniado.jpg. ticket:2019042310005678

We treat the contents of such communications as confidential but I don't think I'm saying too much to say they objected to the use of a copyrighted image.

I deleted the image.

I do see that you had a Nonfree rationale, so I do understand that this wasn't a misunderstanding, but a belief that a legitimate exception to copyright law exists.

My preference would be for the community to have a debate about the specific image including possibly a check with legal counsel. I'm not convinced that our desire to have an image qualifies as an exception to copyright law, but if our legal counsel concurs I will not object to the restoration of the image.--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:33, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

hi...I have 2 books needing your assistance

Not planning on long articles but will dyk them.. Thankyou for Square and Tower. William Osler also wrote a number of books, one in particular on his quotes, which you will find really interesting. Whispyhistory (talk) 16:36, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

There should be a list of his books in the article. Also, if they are really good, Osslerisms. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:20, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
His page looks messy. Whispyhistory (talk) under the Osler spell. 20:23, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
I don't think the sections are right. Also the conditions and buildings named after him could be in separate list articles which would free up a lot of space. Too many external links too. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:27, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
Agree...another mammoth task Whispyhistory (talk) 21:20, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Notice

The article Martin Graham has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability. No secondary sources, and the primary sources don't offer much beyond hagiographic hype.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bryan Thomas (architect)

Hi...I have been looking at the references. I cannot figure out how to tidy the reference on the one book. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:40, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Holmes The House on the Heath is based on Fallingwater.“It was a combination of being isolated from other people as well as living in this extremely modernist house with unusual conditions. My parents got a contemporary architect to build a home on the Essex-Suffolk border based on Frank Lloyd Wright’s design Falling Water.” The house featured glass, wood, skylights, and mosaic tiles, even an indoor fountain. He remembers “coming into consciousness with this as the background . . . it was the genesis of my creative vision.” [1]....it inspired the artist Ward...It has to be same house. Watson Whispyhistory (talk) 19:23, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Excellent deduction Watson. I will get my magnifying glass out and examine the evidence. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
The location, dates, architectural style, and occupation of his father (legal) all match, however, there is no direct evidence that it is the same house and the setting of Fallingwater seems much different from the House on the Heath. The case will have to remain unsolved pending new evidence Watson. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:32, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
So you have failed to prove the hypothesis. Never mind. I shall dwell upon your successes, for no-one else is likely to succeed either. In the mean time, I will look out for clues. Whispyhistory (talk) 07:18, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
I fear the dastardly Professor Moriarty may have destroyed the evidence. Philafrenzy (talk) 07:24, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
I may attempt to solve it by myself...despite not being as observant as you. Whispyhistory (talk) 07:46, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

AI Global Media hatnotes for reimprove and notability

By removing my recent hatnotes on AI Global Media, you appear to disagree that the references should be improved to ensure the business demonstrates notability. The AFD the article went through was closed as no consensus, yet reviewing the poor current sourcing, and what's available through a simple Google search, that looks like a bad call. You seem to be a pretty experienced editor - it seems odd to not only give this one a pass for having such poor sourcing, but to also hamper attempts to encourage other editors to improve the article with more sourcing. What am I missing? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 17:34, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Non-free images

Hello. When uploading non-free images under fair use, please only upload low-resolution images to comply with WP:NFCCP#3, Minimal usage. Images with one or both dimensions exceeding 1,000 pixels (e.g. 1, 2) are definitely not low resolution. A rule of thumb I use is to make images no larger (or at least not much larger) than they would be when displayed in an infobox or thumbnail. See WP:Image resolution for more. You can also add {{Non-free reduce}} to have a bot automatically resize images. Lastly, note that some very simple logos consisting solely of basic text (e.g. File:Restitutiecommissie logo.jpg) are ineligible for Copyright and can be uploaded at full size straight to Commons, with templates {{PD-text}} or {{PD-textlogo}}. All the best, --Animalparty! (talk) 20:55, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

I have no program that reduces them sufficiently, hence I leave it to the bot which fixes them within days. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:10, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Good day. I created an article about Pogrebetsky in Russian Wikipedia and was deeply surprised to know that an article about it existed for many years in English Wikipedia. In addition, the portrait you uploaded is very unique. Do you have Alexander Pogrebetsky Archives Banknotes catalogue? Could you send me his portrait in original size by mail? ----Алый Король (talk) 06:35, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

At last someone has noticed! It gets an average of 1 view per day. Well done on your article. Unfortunately I no longer have the catalogue or the original scan of the image. I have used it here under "fair use" as no source was given in the catalogue, however, I suspect it may in fact be out of copyright now. I did photograph the biographical details from the catalogue which are here. Philafrenzy (talk) 07:11, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
I found an article about Pogrebetsky writtent by a local Russian historian who worked with archival materials. His article in the magazine had about the same number of views: 1 view per year. But we can do great things here, in Wikipedia. I will ask one of the administrators to send me a original photo, it should have been saved in the Wikipedia cache, and will try to translate Russian article in English. Pogrebetsky was a great man. One wiki-comrade helped to find "Currency and finance of China, 1929", he uploaded it on Commons, it's just amazing. --Алый Король (talk) 07:21, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Could I put this request here? I need this portrait in original size, could someone sent me deleted version to pamyat at list.ru? --Алый Король (talk) 07:22, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

@Алый Король: No, we cannot satisfy that request because the original picture is not available under a free/permissive license. We could be infringing the rights of the copyright holder by sending it to you. You need to contact the copyright holder and ask them for a copy. --Chris (talk) 03:33, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
OMG --Алый Король (talk) 10:31, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Can you use the one that is already there? It was only scanned from a very small original in the catalogue. Philafrenzy (talk) 11:07, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
I already got the original version, no worries. It was just the most ridiculous answer I have ever seen --Алый Король (talk) 15:37, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Hang on, you can't greatly improve a female BLP without giving Megalibrarygirl a ping! She'll feel left out. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:46, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
LOL Ritchie333 I'm glad to help. If you need any sources from behind paywalls, let me know, Whispyhistory and Philafrenzy. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:28, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks @Ritchie333: and Megalibrarygirl....the more the merrier. Thanks for introduction. Whispyhistory (talk) 02:11, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
@Philafrenzy:...thx for Kaylee...can you add you and Edward to DYK nom? Whispyhistory (talk) 19:40, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Since we're all here, anyone fancy taking an expansion of Moseley Park and thinking of a DYK for it? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:35, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
of course Whispyhistory (talk) 11:45, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
That Moseley Park was created for the enjoyment of the citizens of Birmingham but is now kept under lock and key? (literally true) Philafrenzy (talk) 20:06, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Apparently you can enter for free but £45 to be keyholder and have say in management. Whispyhistory (talk) 20:18, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Article says "A key, available to residents, is required to gain entry". Philafrenzy (talk) 20:21, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
I've put the DYK nom in the usual place, add more humorous hooks to taste. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 22:17, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I know you're going to ask me why I didn't promote this hook with the image, so I'm answering in advance. The building image is small, grainy, and boring. I notice that you have a colorful Claridge's Hotel image in the article; would you like to use that instead? Yoninah (talk) 22:38, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, I think there has never not been a vehicle outside Harrods in the last century, even during the war or on Sundays but I agree your proposal and it's his drawing too, making it "that C. W. Stephens was the architect of Claridge's (pictured), Harrods, and Harvey Nichols?" Philafrenzy (talk) 06:15, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you. Promoted to Prep 6. Yoninah (talk) 11:03, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

Edith Campbell

Hi...Edith Campbell...I am stuck with understanding the military terminology. Would you like to contribute...otherwise I may leave. She was one of the first Canadian nurses to receive a significant military medal. Sorry to ask you... Happy for anyone else to come in...eg Megalibrarygirl or Ritchie333.... appreciatively Whispyhistory (talk) 19:05, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

It looks OK to me. What is the problem? Philafrenzy (talk) 20:53, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
The part about the "military medal"...is that the same as the Red Cross. Also...can you get an image? Whispyhistory (talk) 21:04, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
The answer is already in your sources. The Royal Red Cross was awarded in 1915 (Refs 2 & 3) and the Military Medal in 1919 (Ref 8). Philafrenzy (talk) 21:31, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you...Whispyhistory (talk) 23:05, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
