User categorisation

Hey there, thanks a lot for your help with the change to categories for user categorisation. I have created a preliminary project page here: Wikipedia:User categorisation. Please make any changes you see neccessary. Thanks again! --thereverendeg 00:47, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

Inkblot image

You asked about Image:inkblot.gif on my talk page... the original of that image came as an outline from one of the websites discussing the cards. I made it solid color myself so it was easier to see. I took Psychological Testing and Assessment class in college and was one of the few students to handle the inkblot cards unattended so can guarantee that the image is accurate (though lacking in full shading like the original). I labeled it as public domain by age, per the discussion on Talk:Rorschach inkblot test. DreamGuy 21:55, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

I noticed that you tagged the page Image:Books-aj svg aj ashton 01.png for speedy deletion with the reason "This image is hosted on the Commons, and redundant with Image:Books-aj.svg aj ashton 01.svg". However, "This image is hosted on the Commons, and redundant with Image:Books-aj.svg aj ashton 01.svg" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use WP:IFD if you still want the article to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 23:19, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

About my speedy-delete proposal for Image:Books-aj svg aj ashton 01.png: I thought that "Redundancy" was listed as one of the criteria for speedy deletion. Image:Books-aj.svg aj ashton 01.svg is the exact same image in SVG format. So doesn't that qualify? Phoenix-forgotten 23:30, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
It is only valid if both images are on Wikipedia, not on Commons. See WP:CSD. Stifle (talk) 23:32, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Investigation of 169.244.143.115

(Re: "You said here that the IP 169.244.143.115 is under abuse investigation. I checked the reports (and added something) but there wasn't all that much information there, and it was listed under New Alerts instead of Open Cases. What kind of investigating are you doing? Have you made progress? Phoenix-forgotten 19:33, 13 June 2006 (UTC)")

Efforts are being made to contact the administrator responsible for this network, and trace the source of the long term vandalism associated with it. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 19:36, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

By the way, if you find yourself blocked when attempting to edit from any network resource, please try using our SSL connection at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Special:Userlogin — this has worked with mixed results, but is worth a shot in the interim. SimCopter Shenanigans

Hiya. I originally followed this controversy in PC Gamer (my god, back when printed magazines were worth a shit), so off the top of m yhead I didn't have any sites.

I remember there being a few Geocities webpages on SimCopter, but by the time I had graphical internet (circa 1998) it was already considered an old school game.

One page I found while googling that mentions the controversy is http://www.langston.com/Fun_People/1996/1996CFM.html -- another is http://lists.samurai.com/pipermail/bryans-list/1996-December/001811.html -- apparently the programmer who inserted this easter egg was fired. Go figure - and here we have people trying to push the view that the Clinton years were all about tolerance. What a load.

ANYWAY, before I go off on a political tangent, check out those sites, and I'll try to find some actual SimCopter sites at some point (though I get the feeling this will be a fruitless endeavor) --Nugneant 01:12, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Changes to blocking policy

Hi there, I noticed you made a change to our blocking policy. I'd like to politely contest this - although there is the option whereby existing registered accounts are not blocked, this isn't always the case. There are circumstances where blanket blocking is still used. I do however see why you removed it because it could cause confusion amoung new editors, and we should try and sort this. I've restored the paragraph for now and was hoping that we might rewrite it to explain that with the new features this isn't always an issue. Is this okay with you? Thanks. —Xyrael / 20:23, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Correction - someone else restored it before me. I still think we should discuss rewriting it though. —Xyrael / 20:27, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm not an administrator myself and my test wiki doesn't have the features, but I think it breaks down something like this. Hope it makes sense. —Xyrael / 14:14, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
