Thank u very much for looking in to it. I have done something with the reference codes. Bym był bardzo szczęśliwy i wdzięczny jak byś mi to pomógł naprawić.

Z pl Wikipedii skopiował tylko organizacja której jeszcze nie dodałem. Wziołem ją stamtąd dlatego że ja tam ją wsadziłem.

Artykuł należy poprawić gdyż jest w nim wiele nie ścisłości. Np. GUGB został zlikwidowany na początku lutego 41, i już nigdy nie powrócił w tej nazwie do NKVD jak mówi art.

Jeszcze raz bym był dla ciebie wdzięczny jak byś naprawił te kody. Wówczas bym się przyjżał jak to zrobiłeś i się nauczył.

Hi can u help me SMERSH?

When I transfer info from my brudnopis everything was OK. Because each edition has to be conform by the source in this case Vadim J. Birstein : SMERSH Stalin's Secret Weapon, Soviet military counterintelligence in ww2 ISBN 978-1-84954-108-4, when I have made that source and saved it, everything was OK, it kept the same number 19. U know I was looking the way u have made changes , after the first time I have ask u for help. Więc wiedziałem że źródło które wpisuje zatrzyma tem sam nr. Nie zatrzymało. Przestałem dodawać aby nie narobić większych kłopotów. 


But when I use the same source again it come out as me 20.

I have seen your involvment on the english wiki article about the uprising in ghettos during WWII.
The french page is :

I am very suprised to see that, there is only a few language's links (interwiki).
Even, there is no such a page in Hebrew neither in Yiddish nor in German !

Can you help to contact someones who will be able to start a page and do the connection with those two idioms ?

I should be able to start a page on the Portuguese wikipedia, may be on the German one ... But what about Polish ?
(Even if one of my great-grand-mothers was born "Mycielszka", I don't speak a word of Polish.)

  • Hi, Millot. Thanks for asking. Our "Ghetto uprising" article is underdeveloped, with only the basic facts mentioned in it. The reason for this subject being generally under-represented in Wikipedia (with the exception of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising perhaps) is the scant representation of this entire subject in books on the one hand and on the other hand, the limited number of survivor testimonies available. There were far more uprising worth writing about, however, according to Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines unless they are all put together in a single monograph by a Holocaust historian with introductory notes, Wikipedia article about all of them would amount to (user-generated) synthesis of published material which is discouraged. The best example of how it could work is the Holocaust trains article (listing countries) with reliable sourcing throughout. By contrast, the ghetto uprising article features a short list of selected links to English language articles about Jewish ghettos, and little else. Available articles in other languages include Hebrew contrary to what you said, but the absence of the German and the Polish coverage is a complete surprise to me:

WP:PRESS 15

Hi @Poeticbent: You reverted my edits adding the {{press}} template to article talk pages where they had been mentioned by The Jewish Press, saying that you removed link to a groundless and ugly attack page written by an anon, whoever you are and also you gotta do better than that. I think you may feel that I may be in some way agreeing with the article or I am that anonymous writer. I want you to know that I am not that writer and I don't agree or disagree with the article/article subject, I added the template because these are articles that have been mentioned by a newspaper with a circulation of 50,000 a week (according to the wiki page) and the template's documentation says that the template should be used for press sources which discuss Wikipedia as a project. I feel that your removal of the templates may not be totally WP:NPOV, as this is removing a certain opinion from Wikipedia, possibly trying to remove that argument totally. Alright, it is by an anonymous writer, but still, it is a press source (which isn't a minor publication) which mentions a Wikipedia article. I also hope that Jonas Vinther can learn something from that AN/I incident; namely, that it is not good enough to keep adding stuff without anchors and relying on others to fix their own shit. Our policy guidelines are definitely worth reading. I know you are well aware by now of the ANI as to Jonas Vinther. I knew he would probably do himself in someday, but it has gone way beyond that now. All of his articles will have to be reviewed for NPOV, copy-edited and RS sources checked; if they can be. I have to agree with your comment that too much good faith was accepted/assumed. Thanks for the update, Kierzek. You are correct. His contributions will have to be redacted for the glaring absence of reliable third-party sources. Please look at the article histories, because all his major contributions were made without corresponding citations. The main challenge is that this is going to be time consuming.   • I'm trying my best here, but a lot of times things just don't add up. Numbers are thrown around: references don't match because of constant changes to copytext. Richard Bessel says that by the end of 1944 only 1,754,000 remained in West Prussia out of 2,346,000 people, that's all. I don't know where these numbers come from. This 1945 Germany book seems like great pop history, not serious[6] Please look also at what what he quotes from Overmans on another page in his book. Re West Prussia, that is a province created in 1939 in occupied Poland, the Polish corridor and Danzig. These Nazi figures include Poles, the search service base population for "Germans" is 1,105,338. The 1944 figure I suspect is based on ration cards. My POV is very simple, I look at a stack of historical sources in the English language that say 2 million died, that is my straw man. On Wikipedia we need to explain why sources in German like Haar, the Hahn's, Nietschke and Overmans that say 500-600,000 are correct. We must assume most folks don't read German, so we need to present both sides of the argument and convince them that the figure of 2 million is historical myth. Names of cities

Hello. Can I ask you sir what are the results of the Gdańsk vote? It seems to me that the results themselves do not mention anywhere that the name Danzig must be included in the lead of the city's article. What is the method or the rules for deciding which names to include in the lead? It seems that some names have special status and are mentioned in the lead unlike others which remain only in the name or the etymology section. Why? Recent addition to Waffen-SS foreign volunteers and conscripts

You added to this cited sentence at the end which now states: "At its peak, the Waffen-SS numbered almost a million men including Hitler Youth."ref name="Madej151".

The problem is, the Waffen-SS numbered over 800,000 men at its peak, per most sources in estimates and some estimates are even higher. I cannot preview your cite as Google books will not show it. The Hitler Youth were a separate branch of the Nazi Party and should not be counted as part of the Waffen-SS; which the end of the sentence now seems to imply. I look forward to your reply. Somebody else did. – Please look at the last paragraph in this snapshot of one page from Madej, under the heading Wartime Recruiting for the Waffen SS: Right in the middle of that paragraph the sentence reads: After 1943 a great amount of pressure was exerted on members of the Hitler Youth to 'volunteer' for the Waffen-SS. The 12th SS was named Hitler Jugend and was formed mainly from Hitler Jugend.
As for the numbers, W.V. Madej implies that that was the total number who served in the SS. I know and respect W.V. Madej , he is a knowledgeable person.
According to the Overmans study Deutsche militärische Verluste im Zweiten Weltkrieg on pages 159-166 the data base of the post war German search service Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) includes only those of "German ancestry" -"Deutsche nach Abstammung" , and foreign nationals in western Europe. Deutsche Dienststelle did not include files for non-Germans in eastern Europe. Overmans on page 257 estimated 900,000 served in the SS and 314,000 were war dead,excluding non-Germans in eastern Europe'. He went on to say that if 1,000,000 men served in the Waffen SS their casualty rate would be the same as the Army. Overmans noted that if the non-Germans "Nicht-Deutschen" "non-Germans" were included that would perhaps present a different picture.   • The copyright claim on that image is fake. The poster could be reloaded from any online source directly into Commons. BTW, there's not enough info about who really published it, when, and why. Snyder remarks that probably it was published in 1941. Probably, but not a word about the publisher. The assertion, that the poster was published by the Germans is doubtful.
