Polyglot-Mom (talk)I think I put enough content to make it acceptable ? Please advise :-)Polyglot-Mom (talk)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.3 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 19:26, 16 January 2009 (UTC) Polyglot-Mom (talk) I think the content should be acceptable for now? I do realize it needs to be edited more Polyglot-Mom (talk)[reply]

Hello. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed that on the page for Fairfax County Public Schools you have been adding a link to the Bailey's Elementary School homepage. I'm curious why you think that page should be linked when none of the other schools are linked to their external websites (the dark blue links are internal links - they point to other Wikipedia articles we have). I would greatly appreciate your response regarding this. Thanks, FlamingSilmaril (talk) 23:20, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Polyglot-Mom (talk)hi there, it's my first time editing / creating. i realized the difference in the link afterwards so i decided to create a wiki page for bailey's elementary so that the FCPS elementary schools' list could have an internal link to Bailey's. I'll work on the references more. thank you for working so efficiently to provide this wonderful service that is wikipedia ! kudos...Polyglot-Mom (talk)

I understand that it's your first time, and editing can be very confusing at first. But you'll get to know your way around soon enough, not to worry. FlamingSilmaril (talk) 02:06, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tidied you up a bit[edit]

Changed your overview to a lead (or lede) statement, changed the hand drawn table for a US school infobox and added a category for you. After that I am afraid you are on your own because I know nothing of the school and the US school system in general. Here is one I did for a Brit Grammar School http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth%27s_Grammar_School,_Horncastle if that helps with the format at all. I suggest you click on the category link and have a look at some other US school entries for a feel on their styles and layouts. Have fun 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 01:29, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

~~and i thought a little fairy had visited my page and cleaned it up ! thanks much, this is just wonderful~~

Thank you for the message on my talk page. The key to Wikipedia is notability - if the subject of an article is not notable then it the article will probably be deleted. Generally speaking elementary schools are not considered notable enough to have articles on Wikipedia. However, if a particular school can be shown to be notable by reference to reliable sources then it will survive. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 01:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And please use edit summaries! – ukexpat (talk) 01:33, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

~~I understand, but our school, though an Elementary school is quite special: in 1997 President Clinton's Advisory Board on Race commissioned a Case Study about our school "Educational Strategies for Making Diversity an Asset" and there were dozens of newspaper articles, scholarly articles written about it. And, now with the current budget cuts, the diversity that was created by the Magnet program, that was founded after a lawsuit by the PTA, is being threatened.~~

Right, so you need to add another paragraph to the lede that starts "The school is particularly notable as in 1997....etc etc and back it up with an internet reference 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 01:40, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is about as much as I can contribute. Have tidied up all your errant wikilinks and reorganised some of the references and paragraphs. It is 3.40am here in the UK and I am ready for some shut eye 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 02:38, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Polyglot-Mom (talk)I have learned much from you all, thank you very much for your suggestions, corrections and 21stCenturyGreenstuff : your tidying up made the page looks great ! you have all done a great service to this amazing elementary schoolPolyglot-Mom (talk)

A tag has been placed on File:Kaye.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 17:26, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
