Problems
- Between 2 April and 8 April, on wikis using Flagged Revisions, the "Reverted" tag was not applied to undone edits. In addition, page moves, protections and imports were not autoreviewed. This problem is now fixed. [1][2]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 April. It will be on all wikis from 18 April (calendar). [3][4]
- Default category sort keys will now affect categories added by templates placed in footnotes. Previously footnotes used the page title as the default sort key even if a different default sort key was specified (category-specific sort keys already worked). [5]
- A new variable
page_last_edit_age
will be added to abuse filters. It tells how many seconds ago the last edit to a page was made. [6]
Future changes
- Volunteer developers are kindly asked to update the code of their tools and features to handle temporary accounts. Learn more.
- Four database fields will be removed from database replicas (including Quarry). This affects only the
abuse_filter
andabuse_filter_history
tables. Some queries might need to be updated. [7]

Pinging @BilledMammal, Gonnym, Queen of Hearts: Good day. Thanks for the contribution in relating to mass renamings for the I Can See Your Voice franchise. In case that you made the right decision on categories, please deliberate these (other proposed renamings) before you perform the operation. Remember, I Can See Your Voice is a unique program with format of "mystery music game show" that originated in South Korea in 2015, which is technically classified as a "game show" genre. Re: Discord
Queen, I really want to apologize for my account being compromised on Discord. Somehow, it kept spamming everybody and everything with the same unwanted invite to an inappropriate server. I do take sole responsibility for it whether it was comp'd or not. Darrion "Beans" Brown 🙂 (my talk page / my sandbox) 21:20, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Starting this week, newcomers editing Wikipedia will be encouraged to try structured tasks. Structured tasks have been shown to improve newcomer activation and retention. [8]
- You can nominate your favorite tools for the fifth edition of the Coolest Tool Award. Nominations will be open until May 10.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 23 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 24 April. It will be on all wikis from 25 April (calendar). [9][10]
Future changes
- This is the last warning that by the end of May 2024 the Vector 2022 skin will no longer share site and user scripts/styles with old Vector. For user-scripts that you want to keep using on Vector 2022, copy the contents of Special:MyPage/vector.js to Special:MyPage/vector-2022.js. There are more technical details available. Interface administrators who foresee this leading to lots of technical support questions may wish to send a mass message to your community, as was done on French Wikipedia. [11]

Namelist pages
Hi Queen of Hearts :)
I'm currently thinking about namelist pages, and about whether they're thought of more as disambiguation pages or as stand-alone lists - in particular, for the purposes of rcat tagging (e.g. whether a redirect from Fred (surname) to Fred (name) would be an {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}} or an {{R from incomplete disambiguation}}; whether a redirect from Ffransis (disambiguation) to Ffransis would be an {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}} or an {{R to disambiguation page}}; etc). Looking through my contribs to see how I'd previously used rcats for these sorts of situations myself, I noticed that in February, you added {{R to disambiguation page}} to a redirect I'd created via JWB (Vilhelmsen (disambiguation)); so I was curious to know what your thoughts/understandings were on the subject.
All the best (and thank you for the kitten you gave me last month ❤️), —a smart kitten[meow] 10:34, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @A smart kitten, nice to see you around. I did that JWB job off of a Quarry query which checks for untagged redirects from "Foo (disambiguation)" to "Foo". I didn't realize the target was a surname list. I figured {{R to disambiguation page}} would say something about pages that serve a disambiguation-like purpose, but nope. IMO, redirects like this should be tagged to disambiguation, but I'd ask at Template talk:R to disambiguation page. Queen of ♡ | speak 19:16, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

{{subst:currentuser}} has given you a McDonald's Filet-O-Fish sandwich! Filet-O-Fish sandwiches are very popular during Lent and promote WikiLove. Hopefully, this one has added flavor to your day! Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a Filet-O-Fish sandwich, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
Spread the fishy, gooey goodness of Filet-O-Fish sandwiches by adding {{subst:Filet-O-Fish}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message!

CFD closure
Hello, I'm on my phone right now so I can't cut and paste links but I was looking at a CFD discussion you closed yesterday about an Anti-mainlander Hong Kong" category. You closed it as Merge but several target categories were mentioned and it wasn't clear what you wanted this category to be Merged to. Liz Read! Talk! 00:48, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

CfD closure
Happy birthday indeed! Could you please reconsider your closure of Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_April_16#Category:Anti-Zionist_Christians and Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_April_16#Category:Christian_anti-Zionism? I think the opposing argument has sufficiently been refuted. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:23, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Marcocapelle. I don't have much time to look because of the birthday thing, so I'll revert my closes and allow someone else to evaluate it. Queen of ♡ | speak 19:53, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
