Radio stations

Please note that the correct format on Wikipedia is not to include external weblinks to the radio stations' pages next to their name in the city's media list, as you did at Victoria, British Columbia; there should never be an external link in the body of the article itself. Olorun/Yansan

There's actually a pretty good chance I'm wrong about it. I added it in because there's a redirect from the page Yansan that goes to Olorun. It's a redirect that's been in existence unchanged since 2002, so I figured they were the same thing. Looking at it now, that's probably wrong. I'll rv the page and fix the redirect to go to Oya or Iansan (which seem to be equivalent with each other - please correct me if I'm wrong). However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Forest Lawn

No, it is not central, BUT, I do believe that it's popularity as a destination has risen significantly along the 17th avenue corridor since the implementation of the international Avenue BRZ. This has been bolstered even further with GlobalFest. Right now the city has a pretty ambitious plan for that part of 17th avenue, and I think its fortunes will be different in the near future. It is already a pretty popular destination for ethnic cuisine, so I disagree with you, I think Forest Lawn is definitely gaining in popularity. It's just unfortunate that its poor reputation has clouded son many people's view of the neighbourhood as a place they would ever consider going. --Arch26 00:20, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

It certainly is getting better, and even with it's reputation for crime, it's not nearly as bad as many believe. But still, there's a reason for that bad reputation (and I guess that's why the city has all those plans for the area). I consider that calling it popular is (optimistically speaking) too early. Pelican Airport

Thanks for picking up on the town name. I was working from the Canada Flight Supplement (CFS) and it's not always clear what the town is. I've changed the runway surface back to asphalt because that's what the CFS says. You can check out the airport at the World Airport Database here. Cheers. BC/NW map stuff

Hi. Been using the various maps for more mountain-range and plateau articles (see Okanagan Highland, Thompson Plateau, various mountain ranges) as well as the occasional historical article (Okanagan Trail); thinking of using the same set, maybe "faded" in colour-density a bit, for river/lake locator maps. You'll note that the Okanagan Trail map, which I cut from the big northwest-relief one you sent me, is only ~240px square; and that's the smallest I could make the text at that scale (8point); the resolution's pretty fuzzy as a result, especially because I set the thumb-size at 300px, "stretching" the already poor resolution. I'm wondering if you have a "big" map of the entire region at the same scale as the original Vancovuer Island one, i.e. that I could cut-and-trim as needed for various subjects; same area as the big NW-relief one, only at the same resolution as the VI one (or better). If it's too big to post into Wiki you can find my regular email at http://www.cayoosh.net and email it to me as *.PAR or zip or RAR files if need be. What I've got for YOU back in trade is a full set of ARCView hillshades, which are public-domain and are basically province-wide shade-terrain maps; I'll post a sample on my BC/PacNW History Forum resources area later today; several megabytes, maybe dozens, can't remember, but still on my HD somewhere. I've also got screen-captures of BC Basemap images of things like the coastal icefields and inlets; I wrote them, by the way, asking about usage-conditions on that material; all generated from the same data you're working with, but in their proprietarial software/map-generator; I'll post a couple of examples also on my hidden BC/PacNW resources page as I'm unsure of their status; but they could be used for "tracing" or pantographing things like the icefield areas, river lines and so on.Skookum1 19:01, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Pictures

I see you added some pictures to Calgary International Airport. First of all, thank you. It needed some pictures. Second of all, do you mind if I replace one or two of yours (Eventually) and add some more? I'm a planespotter, and I have a couple of pictures of the more obscure areas of the airport, some of which are roughly the same as your pictures. I use a film camera (It's really good though) to take my pictures, and most pictures won't be added until tomorrow or Friday. Do you mind? - RPharazon 02:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Winagami Lake

Hi Qyd, I noticed that today you edited a link on the High Prairie, Alberta article to point to a page called Winnigami Lake Provincial Park. However, it is most certainly spelled "Winagami Lake". I know you're not the original author of the page, but I don't really know where to start changing stuff, or how to change a page title, etc... should I just go ahead and change this? And how do I change a page's title?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, if so just send back a RTFM. ;)

But yeah I happen to be a resident of High Prairie, and the spelling is definitely Winagami. Here's actually a link to a Cdn. govt. website spelling it the correct way:

Reality Television

I've started a discussion section on the Deletion Policy page regarding reality television contestants. My main point is this: the ABC.com homepage does a perfectly fine job of sorting out who is a contestant, and their background. Jimmy Wales stated we should focus on quality, not quantity. What is it that these entries give to the internet that is not already covered by their homepages for the game shows?

Your Edit to Division No. 18, Saskatchewan

I would like to know the rational for removing "It is the largest census division in Saskatchewan, covering the northern half of the provence." from that article. If you look at the map you have pasted on the page, it is very clear that it is the largest division in terms of area. Fraser River map

Hi; saw your Fraser River map and wanted to let you know I'd made a stab using the basemaps you sent me/connected me to - although one showing the larger area didn't have enough resolution to do the tribs properly. Here's my versions, from Prince George southwards and without rivernames, and I don't like the colours I'd used:

Also, on yours, the Morice is a tributary of the Bulkley, not the Nechako, and the Bulkley is a far major/more important tributary of the Skeena than the Babine; which is mostly Babine Lake. Also the Tahtsa is very minor and the whole upper Nechako watershed is the Ootsa Lake Reservoir (which is about twenty lakes linked together by co-inundation); I didn't show it on my map, only where it starts at the foot of the reservoir; if you were going to follow an arm of it, to draw rivercourse, use Ootsa over Eutsuk (northern over southern arms); it just barely shows on my map because of the particular angle of the close-up/cutaway. There was something else to comment on yours but can't remember what it was - oh yeah, you show the spine of the northernmost MOnashees as if there was a river flowing the other way in a narrow gorge towards the Columbia; but it's still just the Fraser basin on either side; the Adams River is in between the North Thompson and the Big Bend of the Columbia, but it flows south to join the Thompson via Shuswap Lake. A couple of rivers on mine are minor - the San Jose, which is to the south of the Quesnel, and the West Road/Blackwater; the West Road/Blackwater is historically significant, however (it's pretty much just a trickle relative to some of the southern tributary creeks. I do know at some point I'll want to do a map from Big Bar southwards so the tributary creeks and smaller rivers (Churn, Pavilion, Cayoosh, Stein, Nahatlatch, Anderson, Coquihalla, and others) can be shown.Skookum1 17:29, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Tofino Airport

Do float planes land there, well in the water next to it, or do they land at the ~~Tofino Water Aerodrome~~ Tofino Harbour Water Aerodrome. Battle River and Wetaskiwin

Hey Qyd. I noticed you editted Wetaskiwin by adding in that Battle River flows through the city. In fact, Battle River is south east of the city (see: [1]). There is a drainage ditch that runs through the city, but that was man-made for times of floods. - Mustard 15:16, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
