Hi Qyd, I do appreciate your contributions to wikipedia, and it looks like you put a lot of time and effort into many areas. I respect your opinion. As you may know, I added medhatblog.com today and you removed it as per the rules. I do not run medhatblog, and I have no personal interest or stake in it. But I do think it is a very relevant website. It discusses local issues, and has some very good articles, breaking news, etc on the city of medicine hat. Im not sure how long it has been around, but more than year for sure. my point is, its not a flash in the pan like so many blogs these days. I read the rules, and blogs are allowed if they relevant, or written by someone of interest. If you do not agree, I wont argue. but I truly think that medhatblog is a service to community. it seems to be very popular, and I think it deserves to me on wikipedia. I seen your latest edits to the Alberta articles and I thought this conversion template {{Pop density km2 to mi2}} might help you out. See Caroline, Alberta for an example. I think that I may need to add "inhabitants" to the template, but let me know what you think? —MJCdetroit 18:52, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Will do. I've added "inhabitants" after the conversion template. Not having it in the template allows the editor to decide on the wording, so I suppoe it works as it is. --Qyd 19:08, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I'll change it on the template level :) —MJCdetroit 19:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Done. See Marwayne, Alberta. —MJCdetroit 19:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Just thought of this, you may want to look at Template:Canada CP 2006 to help you with your edits. —MJCdetroit 03:21, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't really like that template: It's a sort of bulleted list (prose is preffered), and the reference is a general one (inline external link, no less) instead of the paricular one for the community. For 2006 census, it also mixed in 2001 data (only partial data for 2006 so far from statcan). Beside, I generate the wikitext off-site from the data, so it's no effort at all. Thanks for the suggestion though. And if I may return the service, would you consider {{subst:PAGENAME}} instead of {{Pagename}} when you convert to infobox settlement? It maket the text imprevious to page moves, and the text can be easier modified subsequently, while it's still pretty much automatic implementation. --Qyd 04:26, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll change my template that I've been using. —MJCdetroit 07:02, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Mount Temple

Hi. I wonder if you could look again at your redirect of Mount Temple to a disambig page for Temple (not the same thing/place)? I wrote a stub on Mount Temple (a village in Ireland) and it brings up a Canadian Mountain of the same name with a "for other uses" see Temple. And you appear to have zapped my own redirect, which is a bit naughty. Regards (Sarah777 11:16, 24 June 2007 (UTC))

Sounds like work! I'll do as suggested later – That was my thinking too but I didn't want upset the mountain folk by moving the primary Mount Temple to Mount Temple (Alberta); without doing some sounding out. (Sarah777 14:23, 24 June 2007 (UTC))
Thanks Qyd!! I know that if I left a mess in the kitchen you'd just have to clean it up yourself :) (Sarah777 21:42, 27 June 2007 (UTC))

Other uses

I removed the Other uses tag for Mahogany, Calgary since the article name is so specific it by its very nature serves as the disambiguation. No one is likely to type in "Mahogany, Calgary" if they're looking for another meaning. (It did remind me to put a link on the Mahogany disambiguation page, though, so thanks for that.) 23skidoo 22:44, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I tend to leave dab notices exactly for that reason (keep dab pages and redirects in order). Users can also access the page from search results, and if it's not what they were looking for, the dablink helps. It' just my wikihabit, feel free to do however you please. --Qyd 04:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

I've put back the Canadian Airports template (or rather my sockpuppet did it) as all the airports in Canada use the same one. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 04:10, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that I didn't even see the talk page comments. I added |state = {{{state|collapsed}}} the {{List of airports in Canada}} to make it hidden by default. I think it's a bit large in the expanded size for most of the airports which are stubs, see Fisher Branch Airport. I'm in the process of making changes to most of the airports with AWB so I can make that change as well. When I finish I will go back and pick up the ones I missed. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 06:07, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
And I just redirected {{Canadian Airports}} to the other so all the airports will show the {{List of airports in Canada}}

Infoboxes in Canada

Good job with the deprecating the last of {{Infobox Town Canada}}. Sorry I was going so slow, but I usually edit between things at work. With that and a small template called {{Tab muni ca}} that was used in Quebec being replaced, all settlements in Canada should be using the same infobox. Esquimalt, British Columbia coors

Hi, I see that you reverted a change to the coor setting at Esquimalt, British Columbia. When I look at your setting on google, it places it somewhere near the Bay St Bridge on the innner habour, the one that you reverted looks to me like it places the location right on the docks at CFB Esquimalt. I am wondering why it was reverted? Perhaps Google isn't giving the right location? --KenWalker | Talk 19:29, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

hmm, perhaps your link is for the City rather than the harbour, but even so, it doesn't seem to be centred on the city??--KenWalker | Talk 19:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Actually, my mapping software usually pinpoints to the town hall, and where it doesn't have that info (might be the case here), it takes the geometric center of the polygon (city/district limits). I'm not sure it does this for Esquimalt (not familiar with the location), but going to the harbor seems wrong. Cheers. --Qyd 21:17, 11 July 2007 (UTC) PS: Two mapsets (both based on Canadian DMTI data) give the location at 48°26′31″N 123°24′7″W / 48.44194°N 123.40194°W / 48.44194; -123.40194. A third one (a general world map) points to 48°25′50″N 123°24′53″W / 48.43056°N 123.41472°W / 48.43056; -123.41472, this might be closer to the district center. --Qyd 21:37, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
This first two are in the city but not centred and do not really make sense to me for use here, but the last one is in the central core of the city and looks pretty much like it points to the parking lot behind city hall. That one makes sense to me. --KenWalker | Talk 22:50, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
✓ OK, used that one. (Might be parking lot instead of building as I'm rounding to full second). Thanks for pointing out the error. --Qyd 22:57, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't think there's a guideline for this, the reason I'm routinely moving the commons link to see also section is space economy (trying to reduce whitespace). If you think it looks better at the bottom of the article, please feel free to restore. Cheers. --Qyd 16:02, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Ramsay

Hi Qyd,

Thanks for the welcome!

You are clearly a veteran member of Wikipedia so I would appreciate some feedback on the recent editing of the Ramsay, Calgary page.

As the edit history shows, User 209.107.122.237 seems intent on including excepts from a press release dealing with a recent homicide in the area. It is my opinion that the event, while tragic and troubling, provides little relevence and/or context to the page. User 209.107.122.237 has repeatedly gone in and added the text to various parts of the page. That information has been subsequently deleted by both you and myself. User 209.107.122.237 finally settled on creating a "Crime" section for Ramsay, including crime stats for the last half of 2006 AND reposting excerpts from the homicide press release. I don't really have an issue with the crime stats, although one could ask how relevant 6 mos. worth of crime statistics are on a overview of a neighbourhood that is over 100 years old. My issue is with the inclusion of the press release. It falls under current events. Furthermore, the wording smacks of sensationalism that will read with less and less relevence as time goes on. That said, my take on relevence and context, may not be the same at everyone else. I would be interested in your take on this.

Cheers!

York hotel Calgary

Hello. Why did you change the info I added. The York is going to be droped by HAZCO.

If you go to the site and have a look... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.54.116.18 (talk) 16:57, August 22, 2007 (UTC)

AFAIK, the York hotel is not being demolished, but dismantled, then put back together (with improved structural changes), and incorporated in the Bow. This was the point of the "keep the historic York hotel" dispute when the Bow was proposed. The link you provided is one of a construction company, I can't find anything specific to this project. --Qyd 17:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Sir you assume you are correct.

The brick and the detailed facade is being removed, numbered and graphed to show the original location. The brick will be put back on the new building in the same manner and original location. This will keep the heritage of it all. The rest of the building will be dropped and land filled. The demolition contractor HAZCO is going to put an excavator on the roof as early as this weekend to demolish the building from the roof down.

I will let you have you power to change the facts from fact to what you belive is true. You will see the truth in two weeks.

Good day. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.54.116.18 (talk) 17:40, August 22, 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the removal of the web link. How about a link to the Wik page on HAZCO? That is the blue clik on me text.

Nunavut

I'm feeling stupid right now so, what does this do? In really simple words. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:20, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Adds a name to the geo microformat contained in {{coord}} (but doesn't display it in the article). So that the coordinate, when extracted by another website (such as this tool), has a name attached to it. Try Firefox's "operator" extension to see how it works in a browser. hCard describes possible classes and coding. The code I added is somehow controversial, there's a lot of fuss about that kind of thing at Template talk:Coord. --Qyd 00:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll give it a try later. I had seen the ongoing discussion at the Template talk:Coord. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:47, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Infobox road

I am running AWB to fix articles affected by the change. I posted this on WT:USRD; perhaps I erred in not placing the notice on the template talk. In any case, please have patience. --TMF Let's Go MetsStats 02:58, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

You will have difficulties implementing that change in articles like Trans-Canada Highway or Alberta provincial highway 2 (many more too), where the placeholder for map was filled with map templates or other markup. And indeed, the change should have been mentioned in the template talk page, as this infobox is also used for non-US roads. --Qyd 04:07, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Then I'll add an escape parameter that releases the map parameter (most likely "map_custom" which would accept the word yes) from the preset markup. You'll have to add it to the afflicted articles, however. --TMF Let's Go MetsStats 04:32, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
That would work, thanks. --Qyd 04:39, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

The alleged vandalism on the wikipedia page

27 August

To Whom it May Concern

There has been recent ranking of hospitals in Canada, based on patient experience. The results are available somewhere online. The Foothills Medical Centre was ranked as one of the lowest in the country and as a result the worst in Calgary and the Peter Lougheed Centre the second worst. I believe people have a right too know this. If you need proof such as an external link to allow such edits on Wikipedia to remain on the page please respond in that regard. Also, is there a way that I can, with proof, edit a page explaining that Canadian Immigration Law says that the Sikh surnames Singh and Kaur do not qualify for the purposes of immigration? I'd like to also point out that the CIC has said that the Sikh names Singh and Kaur do qualify for the application process but forgot to mention that some during the process they are told that their names do not qualify for the purpose of immigration to Canada, unless they make a name change. There are or should be news reports in this regard and a press release from CIC calling the letters "erroneous"

Sincerely

Such information is definitely controversial, and has to be handled with care. If you say "Foothills Medical Centre was ranked as one of the lowest in the country and as a result the worst in Calgary", it's wrong for a number reasons:
  1. per WP:CITE, it has to be well referenced
  2. per WP:AWW, you would have to specify exactly who and in what context said that
  3. you are actually supposed to not extrapolate and not draw your own conclusions, per WP:OR
As you wrote it in the article, it read as just another inflammatory remark. Based on what you say here (references still pending), it would have been just as correct to state that "Foothills Medical Centre is the third best in Calgary", and it would have been just as wrong (for the reasons mentioned above), but without the inflammatory tone.
I don't know anything about the Singh controversy, but I can imagine it's highly controversial, so again, has to be handled very carefully. --Qyd 15:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

location

Please note that {{location dms|8|||S|140|42||W}} will not work, especially since longitude and latitude should have the same degree of precision (i.e. both only degrees, or both degrees and minutes). You can fill in the gaps with zeros so the templates works, such as {{Location|8|0|0|S|140|42|0|W}}. Cheers. --Qyd 17:48, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Harmonizing Infobox Lake content / Lac La Nonne

Qyd, most if not all infoboxes for lakes don't use flag icons describe location and basin countries. Please avoid changing them to icons as on Lac La Nonne.

Further, as both {{coor at dms}} and {{coord}} are acceptable coordinate templates, it's preferable to leave in the low overhead {{coor at dms}}.

Obviously, I'm always glad when "my" stubs get expanded. -- User:Docu

Actually, {{coord}} does something that {{coor dms}} and {{coor at dms}} doesn't, i.e. adds geo microformats to the lake pages, and that's the reason I went through some lake pages (respectively the Alberta ones). I'm not a big fan of having the coordinates both inline and in the title area, but this can be done with {{coord}} too, using the parameter "display=inline, title". Regarding the flag icons... well, it's really a matter of taste, and one of very little importance (if any), if you think it's worth restoring, I have no problem with that. I just thought a little color might put some life in otherwise dull stubs, and the flag templates are also implemented in all Communities of Alberta. Cheers. --Qyd 14:49, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
The flag icons add additional inconsistencies in {{infobox lake}}: compare locations, e.g., on WikiProject Lakes/Galleries/Image missing. I removed the few that appeared on that list. As it really is a matter of taste, we might as well add them to all articles (there would be about 3500 to do though).
Microformat is an advantage, but compared to the overhead it adds, it might not be worth it. BTW it's also available on the resulting coordinates look-up page. -- User:Docu
I'm afraid you lost me here, there's several things I didn't understand.
  1. Is WikiProject Lakes/Galleries/Image missing affected if a flag icon appears in the infobox? What/whose location should I compare?
  2. What do you mean by overhead added by microformats?
  3. Which page do you have in mind when you say "coordinates look-up page", and what is available there?
Thanks. --Qyd 14:48, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
(1) the list uses the "location=" field from {{infobox lake}} data
(2) {{coord}} compared to {{coor at dms}} calls an additional 7 templates.
(3) [1]
-- User:Docu

Well a list of images missing should certainly look for "image_lake" lather than "location" in {{Infobox lake}}; then again, as far as I can tell WikiProject Lakes/Galleries/Image missing a human written list, not a bot generated one. Yes, {{coord}} is rather complex, as it aims at replacing the sprawling coor family of templates; the geo microformat is a tiny piece of code compared to the handling of different formats (deg, deg-min, deg-min-sec, lat/long vs +/-, inline/title display, etc), and what geo microformats do is basically put the article on the map, not only in wikimedia websites, but for a host of other services that parse the information and link to articles from their own webpage or software (Google Earth for example), so I'm thinking it's well worth it. And, let's face it, the lake pages we're talking about are really lightwieght, there's no issue about loading times or such. Yes, the geo hack page generates a geo tag, but remember that is a temporary rendered page, and also it doesn't associate a name with the coordinates (which is what happens when placing coord inside an infobox). Cheers. --Qyd 18:04, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I might not expressed this very clearly, but almost all articles listed on WikiProject Lakes/Galleries/Image missing use text rather than icons to describe the location.
By replacing the text in the field with icons, you are adding the information on lakes in Alberta in a different format. -- User:Docu
Oh, OK, I thought I was doing something wrong, as in screwing up some settings. If you are that annoyed by the flag icons, by all means, take them out, I wouldn't be offended. --Qyd 03:45, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

coord name

I was curious, what does adding "name=" do and should it be added to community pages? Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 20:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

It attaches the "fn org" attribute to the microformat (it has been finally coded into {{coord}}). Pretty much what the other span...display:none...etc did. It would be a good addition to pages where coord is not included in some infobox (the full name/organization is taken from the infobox name parameter there), especially if it's a coord with display=title. But it would work in lists too, for example List of Alberta provincial parks has 72 extractable geo microformats. --Qyd 23:26, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
OK. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 02:53, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

question

Hi. On the Kamloops move debate, you said that reversing the redirect so thatKamloops, British Columbia redirects to Kamloops would make categorization, offline editing and bot operations more difficult. Can you explain more about this? I'd rather make things easier for user than for editors/bots but would like to know more about what you are describing. Canuckle 00:30, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

When generating code offline, or even when routinely writing a link, one would use [[City, Province|City]], as most Canadian settlements use this naming pattern (it has become the second nature, as mentioned in the WP:NC nutshell). Wouldn't be a problem really, just a large number of redirects. The category listing would be a loss, as it's much easier to find an article with "British Columbia" in the name when looking for Canadian settlements in large categories. At the same time, "the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize" what an article is about if it had the disambiguation extension (when we're talking about smaller cities or settlements; the proposed guideline was taking that in account, but that has been single-mindedly ignored in the actual convention).--Qyd 15:44, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Big, Eastern-world Francophone city

So, you reverted my corrective edit, but you failed to even suggest which city in the Orient has more French speakers than Montreal. Could you inform me, please? --The Iraq 13:43, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

See Kinshasa. The issue was discussed before at Talk:Montreal (now archieved at Talk:Montreal/Archive 2#Montreal, not the first biggest French speaking city in the World. --Qyd 02:18, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Most of them are not using French as a primary language, though, correct? Whatever. There are many places throughout Wikipedia that cite Montreal as the second-largest Francophone city in the world. Those should be changed. I can't wait to see in a few years when Kinshasa exceeds Paris in population, and Wikipedia cites it as the largest French-speaking city in the world. --The Iraq 22:26, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Per WP:BIO#Criteria for notability of people, "Just being an elected local official does not guarantee notability", so some of those pages shouldn't have been written in the first place, less so endorsed or improved by a wikiproject. I don't totally agree with those guidelines, but that's another story. Could you please add an importance rating too when you add the banner (just to keep Category:Unknown-importance WikiProject Alberta articles de-populated)? Cheers. --Qyd 17:58, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, sounds good. I don't add importance ratings just because I don't feel confident in my ability to assess importance – the importance ratings you've applied should be helpful, though, and I expect I'll be able to include importance in the future. One further question: what about a guy like Mike Hudema? I think he clearly meets the notability standards (I also think that the municipal councillors, for the most part, meet the notability standard, though I know that's not a unanimous viewpoint), and I think is definitely associated with Alberta, but you removed the project banner from his page as well.
Anyway, thanks for your help. Sarcasticidealist 22:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
I' not sure about Hudema. His biggest achievement seems to be running (unsuccessfully) for an MLA position. The press coverage consists mostly of students newspapers, no national network or daily newspaper. --Qyd 23:25, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually, if you have a look at the references, you'll see they include stories from the CBC, CTV, and ABC (national networks all) and Metro News (a daily). Sarcasticidealist 06:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Queen Elizabeth Park

I see that you made this edit to the Queen Elizabeth Park article. Good work; I didn't know that that could be done :-) Happy editing! --Agüeybaná 16:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

There is a (minor) typo in the Calgary Street map you produced (which is otherwise great). At the extreme south is Alberta Highway 22X, part of which is named Marquis of Lorne Trail. Often times people (including many Calgarians) will incorrectly think the name is of French origin (this is Canada) and write Marquis de Lorne Trail. However, that is wrong. The Marquis of Lorne was the first Governor General of Canada and was a Brit. Furthermore, it is no longer named Marquis of Lorne to the east of MacLeod Trail (there is is Spruce Meadows Trail), so the tag should be moved over to the east. - Mtruch 18:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Done, thanks for pointing out the error. --Qyd 18:33, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, my name is Joel Kom and I'm a reporter with the Calgary Herald. I'm writing a story on Wikipedia during the election and wanted to chat with you about how politically sensitive pages hold up during an election? Noticed that you're very involved in Calgary edits. Could you please give me a call today (Friday) at 235-7560? Thanks.

USGS DATA

Exactly what page did you get the Canada USGS data from? I would like high-resolution versions for newfound land.

Thanks, Simfan34 15:57, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I think it is this USGS page (but the resolution is rather low – 30"). --Qyd 16:07, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Edmonton Map

So when are we going to see an Edmonton road map to go with the beautiful Calgary one you made? Kevlar67 17:12, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm not all that familiar with Edmonton, so there might be many errors, anyway, this is a starting point: File:Edmonton street map.png. --Qyd 22:08, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Template {{Location map Edmonton}} would work with coordinates, see example in Mill Woods. --Qyd 22:52, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Ontario parks map

I really like the work you did on the Canada and BC parks locator maps. I work on a lot of Ontario provincial parks and would love to have a similar map for this park system, but it's beyond my technical ability. Would you be interested in created an Ontario map? --Padraic 15:15, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

I can't find a good GIS source for ON parks. If you have one, I would like to compile the map. --Qyd 02:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

re;

sorry bout that. I was seeing if that stuff actually came up and it did for like 2 minutes which i then deleted there after, next time i will use the sandbox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.127.195.117 (talk) 05:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing {{WikiProject Canada}}

Thanks, that white space and the mis-aligned portal link have been bugging me for ages. --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 18:44, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I've caused another problem with portal links. I tried to add links to the portals for each sub-project, but they make the corresponding text reading "This article is part of the X WikiProject." off-centre. Check out the test case; Quebec (with a portal link) is misaligned, whereas Alberta (without one) is fine. --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 06:13, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
They are all aligned right now, as far as I see (and that's looking good, plus it uses clearer syntax this way). Do you want the text to be centered? --Qyd (talk) 12:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC) Oh, now I see it, you mean the vertical alignment. --Qyd (talk) 12:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 21:53, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Award

Wow, what a nice surprise, thank you very much! I see that we're almost back to 100 in the backlog... I'll start helping with that tomorrow. Cheers, CP 22:42, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Most of those came from the merger of the Canadian Education Wikiproject banner, and could be AWB'd as low importance (most are local schools). Cheers. --Qyd (talk) 22:52, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Four years ago this day, a foreigner was voted by the community to serve a land that he loved. Today, a new foreigner humbly accepts the charge and support of serving a community that he loves. Hopefully, he won't disappoint.

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (47/0/1). The trust bestowed upon me by the community is one of the most touching honours that I have ever received, and I vow not to let you down. Whether you have suggestions for ways in which I could improve, a request for assistance or just need someone to listen, my talk page and my email are always open. I pledge to do what I can to help this project, in the words of a man who needs no introduction, "make the internet not suck." A special thank you goes out to Tim Vickers for nominating me. Cheers, CP 23:04, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for the award!! I try my best! :)

Newfoundland and Labrador flag-map

Hi. I noticed that you're the one who made those flag-maps that we're using on the WPCANADA template, and I was wondering if you could make one for Newfoundland and Labrador, because I'm adding it to the template next. --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 01:31, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

I tried to do that once, but it came up so bad, I deleted it. The province's shape is impossible (for this purpose), with the separate section in Labrador, while the flag is full of distinct features. I don't know how to go about it. Maybe a rectangular flag would look better in this case. And by the way, a div with padding-top:8px would solve the vertical alignment issue without using br's (diff). Cheers. --Qyd (talk) 01:46, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip about the div; I've figured out template codes, but html layout tags still confuse me. You're right that Newfoundland does not lend itself well to a flag-map, and I think your solution made a lot of sense. Do you have one for Nova Scotia yet? It should be a lot more straightforward. Also, if you get a chance it would be nice to have ones for the territories so we'd have a full set, but no rush. Thanks! --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 05:21, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Finally got around to make the Nova Scotia one. --Qyd (talk) 23:21, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Silly suggestion, maybe: How about a flag on each part? Or the green-white-pink tricolour on the island and Labrador's flag there? Just a tho't. SigPig |SEND – OVER 05:29, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Not the tricolor, wouldn't want to start separatist controversies. --Qyd (talk) 15:29, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Qyd I was curious what your interest in the Spirit River wikipedia site is? Do you live in Spirit River, or do you just know stuff about it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jay y6 (talkcontribs) 19:49, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

No special interest, I normally keep an eye out for all pages about Alberta communities. I've traveled through it though. --Qyd (talk) 19:35, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
