Your contributed article, Swamiji (film)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Swamiji (film). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Draft:Swamiji (film). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Draft:Swamiji (film). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at [[Talk:Draft:Swamiji (film)|the article's talk page]].

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. VKZYLUFan (talk) (Mind the Gap!) 13:28, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ratsama. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Ratsama. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Ratsama|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Jytdog (talk) 15:12, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately becuase you have not answered this simple question I have raised the issue at the conflict of interest noticeboard for consideration by the community ☆ Bri (talk) 20:32, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very sorry that I didn't see your post in time. I've requested some cricised articles for deletion, I hope this rectifies some errors I've created earlier. I actually thought I would make biographies of people from every profession. You must consider that I'm a new editor, having less than 10 days, so I made some mistakes and I have very little knowledge about article creation rules and regulations. So, I should be given a chance. Thank you. Ratsama (talk) 05:42, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Rusty Keeley[edit]

Hello, Ratsama,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Rusty Keeley should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rusty Keeley .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Speedy deletion nomination of Nandagopalam[edit]

Hello Ratsama,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Nandagopalam for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is significant enough to be included in an encyclopedia, and the artist doesn't have an article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

The article Vanessa Lock has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of meeting multiple significant roles requirement in WP:NACTOR. Lock's one significant role was in a 2002 TV special, with all other parts being minor and in some cases un-named roles (and no evidence she "starred" in the 2009 The Haunting in Connecticut film).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The article Nina Teicholz has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Cut-paste move from draft space[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Nina Teicholz a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Nina Teicholz. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ☆ Bri (talk) 05:33, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying but to be honest this answer is not credible, based on your behavior which is exactly like that of a paid editor. It is actually OK to edit for WP for pay, but there are things you need to do, that you are not doing. Will you please reconsider your answer? Jytdog (talk) 04:39, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't even know what paid editing is. Ratsama (talk) 04:45, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It means that someone gives you money in exchange for you editing WP. Some people work for "digital marketing" or public relations firms and edit Wikipedia on behalf of the firm's clients, as part of their regular job. Some people are freelancers and connect with clients on various freelancing websites. Your editing is very much like that of such editors. Jytdog (talk) 04:58, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've got it now, I've written some articles on businessmen and firms which have a little source online. That's why people took me their paid agent. I'm sorry If I disturbed wikipedia. I'll not make any further articles on such business people or financial organisations. My main forte is articles on film and biographaies of Indian singers/actors. Ratsama (talk) 05:06, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What you are saying is not making sense. Yes much of your stuff is about movies and people from Kerala, but there are articles way outside that that are very spammy or have been subject to paid editing before you, like Nina Teicholz, Juan Betancourt, Faith Wainwright, Ignacio Kliche, Vanessa Lock, Clifford Chance, Karl O'Brian Williams, Susi Snyder Cad-Capture Group (very typical abuse of Wikipedia for advertising), using awardgoesto.com as refspam etc. What you are saying here does not make sense. Please explain. Jytdog (talk) 14:06, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I found these people's name from draft articles. I collected some informations about them and added their biography. I thought that referenced articles may not be criticised or deleted. I don't have any financial or real-life connection with these people. So, if any of my articles are annoying wikipedia, you may happily nominate them for deletion. I'm new editor, so I vow not create articles about non-notable educationist, painter, organisations any more. Ratsama (talk) 14:20, 6 February 2018 (UTC) Whatever you say, Juan Betancourt and Ignacio Cliche is never non-notable. Both has biographies on Spanish wikipedia. Ratsama (talk) 14:24, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. scope_creep (talk) 06:20, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Jesús Luís Díaz Lorenzo has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references.

If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. scope_creep (talk) 06:24, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Divya Gopinath has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Very minor actor. No coverge except by name only. Fails WP:NACTOR.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. scope_creep (talk) 06:41, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Guiness Records[edit]

In order to make lists of topics that have gotten listed in Guinness World Records, you will need independent reliable sources for each topic being listed as such. Simply listing the contents of Guinness' books or website does not indicate notability as Wikipedia defines it. 331dot (talk) 11:12, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've added indepent sources already, apart from Guinness Book's official page, check it out. Ratsama (talk) 11:15, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In the films list, for example, you have four sources. Two of them are to Guinness' website, which is a primary source and does not establish the notability of the subject. The other two are probably acceptable, but you need an independent source for each individual listing in your lists. Those two sources just summarize what Guinness published. 331dot (talk) 11:31, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think a better way to approach this would be to create a category for this and add it to each subject, after you edit each subject's page to include their listing. Then you don't have to worry about sourcing the list as a topic. 331dot (talk) 11:36, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name categories[edit]

Can you please stop adding categories about surnames to caste-related articles until you have read and understood the information at WP:Overcategorization? I am becoming fed up of having to revert your changes. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 16:01, 6 February 2018 (UTC) These caste names are also used as last name or surnames. Please check online. Ratsama (talk) 16:04, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) And articles such as Nambi (surname) make little sense. Ok, I removed your gross overcategorization but you are still engaging in original research regarding the categories and it seems to actually be a disambiguation page for people who have the name Nambi in any form, not merely as a surname. You really do need to slow down because you seem to be getting into a lot of problems. - Sitush (talk) 16:06, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I know they are also used as actual names etc but you are doing it all wrong and should revert pretty much every edit you have made regarding them. - Sitush (talk) 16:07, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for informing. You may revert all, but I've made several surname articles today, are they right or wrong? These are used by many people as last names. Ratsama (talk) 16:10, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning[edit]

The number of articles you've created that have been nominated for deletion in the short time you've been here is astounding. You need to stop right now and start learning about how Wikipedia works before create any more articles. Its very disruptive to be making so many articles without understanding Wikipedia's basic's about notability and reliable sources - you're causing a lot of work for other editors who are trying to clean up your mistakes. If you create another article that shows that is rightfully and quickly nominated for deletion again, your account will be blocked from editing. Feel free to ask questions - there's places for that, like visiting the "Getting Started" help page, or visiting the "Tea House", where new people go for help and advice. But continuing to make articles like this is not a valid option for moving forward. Sergecross73 msg me 15:09, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This article creation demonstrates zero understanding of our notability standards, specifically demonstrating significant coverage through multiple reliable sources. As such, you are blocked for 1 week. During this time, I recommend you read the links I listed above, and learn how to actually write an appropriate Wikipedia article. Sergecross73 msg me 13:31, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Advice[edit]

Hi, if you want your work saved, then use WP:Sandboxes, similar to what I did here and here. Leo1pard (talk) 07:43, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So are you going to use sandboxes like these? Leo1pard (talk) 08:17, 8 February 2018 (UTC) Yes, thanks a lot for saving my articles. Ratsama (talk) 08:18, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But for now, please do not make any new articles. You have just seen how hostile others can be to the creation of articles. It is not necessarily because they are inconsiderate, but there are rules to be followed, such as having WP:notability and WP:reliable sources. Leo1pard (talk) 09:42, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, because people can be hostile to the creation of new articles, what I would often do is to create pages as redirects to existing articles. For example, when I created South American jaguar, at first, it looked like this:
#Redirect Jaguar#Distribution and habitat
And then, when I could add a lot of information, including reliable references, I turned it into an article. Leo1pard (talk) 09:48, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How can you revert a redirect? Ratsama (talk) 09:53, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The way I mentioned. At first, South American jaguar looked like this,[a] and then, I made it like this.[b] Leo1pard (talk) 10:00, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Species:
    P. onca
    Binomial name
    Panthera onca

The South American jaguar[1] is a population of the jaguar in South America.[2][3] Though a number of subspecies of jaguars were proposed for South America,[4] results of morphologic and genetic research failed to find evidence for subspecific differentiation.[5][6]

    Taxonomic history[edit]

    File:...
    A 1739 advert by Charles Benjamin Incledon[7]
    • Panthera onca onca was proposed by Reginald Innes Pocock in 1939.[2][3]
    • Pocock also mentioned other subspecies, such as Panthera onca peruviana (de Blainville, 1843),[8] but eventually, due to a lack of evidence, he accepted that Panthera onca peruviana could be the same subspecies as Panthera onca onca. In other words, the taxonomic name Panthera onca onca referred to a geographic group, if not subspecies, of jaguars north and west of the Amazon River, and south of Central America, including some Colombian jaguars, which was believed to include another group of jaguars, that is Panthera onca centralis.[3][6][9][10]
    • The Pantanal jaguar was proposed as the largest subspecies, with the taxonomic name Panthera onca palustris (Ameghino, 1888), native to the Pantanal region of South America, besides Argentina.[3]
    • A specimen from Bolivia was given the name Panthera onca boliviensis (Nelson and Goldman, 1933), before it was considered as being of Panthera onca palustris by Carbera (1957).[11]
    • Panthera onca paraguensis (Hollister, 1914) was described for a jaguar from the Gran Chaco or the Pantanal regions in Paraguay.[3][12]

Results of morphologic research failed to find evidence for subspecific differentiation.[5]

    Characteristics[edit]

    File:...
A melanistic jaguar in Santa Cruz Zoo, Bolivia

Jaguars north of the Amazon are smaller than those south of the river. In Guyana, specimens weighing up to 200 lb (91 kilograms) have been reported.[13]

Jaguars from the Pantanal region are the largest of the species, with lengths of about 2.7 m (8.9 ft) and average weights of about 100 kg (220 lb). Some individuals weighed more than 135 kg (298 lb).[14]

    Habitat and distribution[edit]

In Peru, the jaguar is found in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, and Manú National Park.[3][9] Jaguars disappeared in a number of places, like the Pampas' part of Argentina and Uruguay.[15]

    Ecology[edit]

    File:...
Illustration of a jaguar preying on a tapir

In South America, the jaguar's prey includes the peccary,[1] capybara,[7][16] and green anaconda.[17] Sympatric predators include the mountain lion and spectacled bear. Spectacled bears appear to avoid places where the jaguar is present. This suggests predation on the bear by the jaguar.[18]

    Attacks on humans[edit]

Occasionally, jaguars may attack humans, depending on factors such as the availability of natural prey:[7]

    • In 2015, at Isseneru Village in Cuyuni-Mazaruni, near the Mazaruni River in the Guyana Montane Forest, a jaguar attacked an indigenous girl aged three. She later received medical treatment, and survived.[13]
    • A fatal attack on a child belonging to the Taushiro people, who are from the border region of Peru and Ecuador, had been reported. In fact, the child's grandfather used to warn his family about such attacks.[19]

    Threats[edit]

In Bolivia, jaguars are threatened by the illegal trafficking of their parts, including fangs to China. They are also threatened by the removal of habitat, and conflict with humans.[20]

    Gallery[edit]

    Cultural significance[edit]

The jaguar is featured in the crest of Argentina's national federation in rugby union.[21] Jaguares de Córdoba is a football team in Colombia.[22] The Lost Land of the Jaguar is a nature documentary by the BBC on Guyana's fauna, including the jaguar.[23]

    Juma[edit]

During the relaying of the torch at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, a female, captive jaguar in Manaus called 'Juma' was used as a mascot. However, it tried to escape, and on approaching a person, was killed. The animal's death provoked outrage, similar to that of a captive gorilla earlier.[24][25]

Deletion discussion about Honey Bee 2.5[edit]

Hello, Ratsama,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Honey Bee 2.5 should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Honey Bee 2.5 .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Hello, Ratsama. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, List of awards and nominations received by Sharmila Tagore, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
