Thanks for the unblock, Redvers. I'm at school right now and the blocked user apparently was working in the computer lab when he was blocked. A question[edit]

Why did you revert my deletion nominations of those articles. If you actually looked into it, you would have noticed that those pages were indeed created as attack pages, and there was absolutely no proof or evidence of any kind. The were just another step in Emir Arven's never ending harassment of me. I have asked administrators to step in and ask him to stop using personal attacks against me, and to stop falsely accusing me, but he will just not stop. Perhaps maybe you could talk to him. But anyway, those pages must be deleted. KingIvan 00:07, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ivan[edit]

Hi Redvers, I just want to inform you that I reverted Ivan's edit to your version. [1]. I also want to say that Ivan's second account was blocked indefinitely and he was strongly warned by AnonEMouse. Ivan Kricancic - sock puppet. Ivan had second account which he created in order to nominate Bosniak-related pictures for deletion providing false information about the authors. He is an ethnic Croat, so he created the second account presenting himself to be an ethnic Bosniak who doesn't speak Bosnian, because he is from Australia. According to his user page (original user page) he hates Bosniaks, and makes funny of them. So his "ethnic Bosniak" account was blocked and he was warned. Emir Arven 19:25, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See here for proof that those pages must be deleted as they are not me. KingIvan 03:45, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don Tapscott Promotional Shot[edit]

Hi there. A while ago I had uploaded a promotional shot of Don Tapscott for his biography article. A few days ago it was deleted. I re-uploaded the image, this time with a different explanation of why I felt it was fair to use it on Wikipedia (namely that his company gave it to me for exactly that purpose). I made sure I left such comments both on the article talk page, and on the image, then earlier today, the image was deleted all the same. Would you be able to give me a hand in making sure that I'm able to upload a promo shot so that it does not meet speedy deletion (or any deletion) guidelines? I've been reading through the various criteria but I'm at a loss for backing up my assertions. Thanks for very much for your time. - Jdechambeau 19:23, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for the barnstar! But to keep it neat on my userpage, I've converted it to the {{award2}} template, so it matches my other stars and doesn't throw it off. Again, thanks! :) --AAA! (AAAA) 22:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Cornelis Dopper[edit]

Hi Redvers, I saw you deleted the photograph with my edit on the Cornelis Dopper entry because I forgot to add a copyright notice. My bad, obviously. I have now returned it with the necessary information; I have an e-mail confirming permission to use it from the Dopper Society's chairman. Hopefully all is in order now, but please let me know if it isn't. Thanks, Ilja.

For future reference[edit]

Greetings, Redvers. I have long understood that to create a stub for an entertainment group of any kind is to walk on thin ice in these parts, but perhaps I need a more quantitative understanding of the A7 test: I understand now that citing only two recordings published on a major label is insufficient; is it that I did not cite critical reception or sales figures? --Streetstealth 18:42, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies[edit]

Sorry if that last message came across as terse. I know you have to deal daily with tons of pointless stuff that people post here, and I should have been more respectful of that. I appreciate that you have a hard job to do as a gatekeeper of sorts, and that given my very short list of contribs, there was almost nothing to distinguish me from the usual vanity page author.

The stub I'd like you to take a second look at was Chocolat & Akito. I'm not saying that I necessarily even disagree with your decision--I just want to know where the line should be drawn with regard to A7. Victor Entertainment is, of course, no small fish in the Japanese recording industry, so the group receives a fair amount of exposure in their native country. On the other hand, though, Victor releases quite a few albums each year.

Either way, I didn't mean to get off on the wrong foot with you. :) I really do want to contribute here, and to better understand the standards by which to do so. --Streetstealth 23:24, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I note you speepy deleted this twice. I wonder which of the criteria at WP:CSD you felt it met. You might note that User:MRSC has recently removed a substantial amount of content on individual postcode districts (including 28 uses of this template), and I cannot find anywhere it has been discussed. --Henrygb 00:37, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keys and cupboards[edit]

Hi. Just under a month and a half ago you approached me on my talk page and very generously offered to nominate me for the keys to the janitor's cupboard in due course [2]. I have recently had offers from several users who wish to nominate me for adminship at this time and feel it would now be rude to put the matter off any longer. However, I remain very touched by the fact that you were the first editor to express such confidence in me. If you still feel, allowing for my contributions since then, that you would like to nominate me I would be honoured to accept. WjBscribe 04:04, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've re-uploaded and tagged the image, along with adding two links that prove its copyright status. Could you please check the page [3], so that i know if the whole thing now satisfies the WP standards. Thank you Homeopathic 15:14, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Khador Script 2[edit]

So, let me get this straight. . . if someone gives permission for something to be used (but not sold for profit) I can't use it? I have to be able to legally sell everything I write? And someone who gives me use for a font can't give me use for a font or a picture on wikipedia unless they also give me permission to package it as a commercial product? I'm just not understanding very well. . . I thought I did, but I don't. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dana Montello (talkcontribs).

I also want to thank you for your diligence...in particular, your quick revert yesterday of the (recent-most)inappropriate edits and vandalism to that concise little Durand Line article. They've popped up a couple times over the past month, both times tripling the article length with largely irrelevant rants how "Balochistan can regain its independence. It is the right time to act now because..." As you know, I've done a little dabbling with Wikipedia (when my schedule allows) to try and increase NSS's visibility with the masses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Space_Society

If you click the "History" tab on a Wiki page, you'll see the gradual progression that's been made under my user name, "WSpaceport." Ditto for the historical record of NSI, L5, Space Nursing Society, Ad Astra magazine, ISDC and other areas of interest:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L5_Society

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_Astra_%28magazine%29

However, I was recently tripped up by one of the WikiAdministrators known as " Redvers <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Redvers> ," who deleted a couple of my recent improvements to the NSS and L5 Wikipages within an hour of their posting.

The "offending" items? The maps of NSS chapter locations in the US and around the world, as well as a diagram of Langrange points, relative to Earth-Moon that are currently posted on the NSS site.

I've taken steps to refile/upload the graphics again for use, hoping this time the stated material source is in proper compliance with Wikipedia under the fair use rules of copyright material, and the GNU Free Documentation License <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Free_Documentation_License>

I just wanted to make sure I'm O.K. by you, and "everything's Jake" with my efforts -- just in case you or your staff are contacted by the WikiCops for verification: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:US_chapters_map.gif

deletion of image[edit]

You recently speedily deleted Image:Fisher(72).jpg citing CSD-I3. Isn't it customary to warn the poster and allow them an opportunity to add a fair use criteria? This is a new user (he e-mailed me) and it sounds like a case of WP:BITE. There seems to be no PD image available, so I believe that the use of the {{PermissionAndFairUse}} tag is justified. --rogerd 22:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, {{PermissionAndFairUse}} might well have covered it. Sadly, the user didn't upload it as PermissionAndFairUse, as you will have seen when you looked at the deleted image's history (here).
As you know, the user uploaded it as a straight, automatically-marked, CSD#I3-listed, "non-commercial or Wikipedia-only" image. Which, as you are aware, is incompatible with Wikipedia and is immediately deletable. This was, of course, clear to you when you checked the history of the image before you wrote to me so I can't add much more the the existing Wikipedia policy, although the deletion log has a clear link to the policy and my talk page has a clear FAQ flagged at the top of it, as you saw.
As for the claims of WP:BITE, well, I'm sure you wish to withdraw such a serious allegation after further review.
Thanks. RΞDVΞRSЯΞVΞЯSΞ 23:28, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry if you took offense, but I was merely trying to suggest that a new user, who doesn't understand the ways of wikipedia, could have used some help rather that having his work erased without any feedback or warning. It certainly wasn't malicious, but it was a nice attorney from Los Angeles who worked somewhat hard to get this image from Georgetown University and was quite frustrated by being swatted down the way he was. --rogerd 02:02, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I explained that it includes commercial and educational use; but I did not specifically say "GFDL" because I didn't think to include it. Anthony responded and stated that he is allowing the photo to be used for any purpose. I forwarded my email to Anthony and his responce to OTRS, if you would like, I can forward the email to you. Could you let me know if I, or Anthony, need to do anything more in terms of license for the photo? Chris01720 13:18, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yesterday I sent the email to OTRS and recieved a reply, but it is not clear to me in the reply email whether or not OTRS cleared the image as OK. Sockpuppet and vandal[edit]

I thought I should bring Bigev1 to your attention. I'm pretty certain this user is a sockpuppet of Bigevan1, and both accounts are being used for vandalism. Not only are the usernames similar, but both accounts have suspiciously similar types of vandalism, such as this edit by Bigev1 and this edit by Bigevan1. If both accounts belong to the same person, then Bigev1 should technically have a Level 3 warning. The reason I am making you aware of this is that I have noticed your prior warning given to Bigevan1. — Dorvaq (talk) 16:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I feel like you've made a bad call on deciding this was a delete, as I would have gone with a no-consensus. Basically, I feel that you've decided that the Post-Gazette is a not reputable source, which isn't our business to decide as wikipedia editors, or if it is, why not assume the London Times or Boston Globe aren't reliable sources. The Post-Gazette's writers have put their professional credibility behind the stories they post, and as it is a paper with 200k+ circulation, so I believe that makes their professional credibility enough for our standards. The articles quoted this group by name, and thats enough for me, and I'm a deletionist. But whatever, I don't really care that much. I'm just registering my disagreement with your decision. Cornell Rockey 01:58, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir;

I wonder if I could ask your opinion on a recently created article concerning British Radio.

The above article concerns me on a number of grounds: It comes over as a self-promoting piece singing the praises of one of the consortia bidding for a new UK DAB national licence, that Ofcom are presently tendering (here). It lacks neither objectivity, nor mention of the main rival bid (by National Grid Wireless) and it is my opinion (as expressed here) that it ought to be moved to something like UK DAB National Radio multiplex licence, and become an article concerning the entire application process and all bids concerned.

I just wanted a second opinion before I proposed the move (partly in anticipation of any opposition). There's no response as yet, but I thought I'd gauge the opinions on some others first. You may also be interested in the subject matter.

I am sorry, I believe I forgot the licensing information and that is why it was deleted. Could you please undelete it so I may add one? Thank you. --TV-VCR watch 04:12, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the licensing information :) --TV-VCR watch 07:27, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Redvers,

you suggest that I should re-license this picture, however, I think GFDL-self is in fact the correct license for it. I have just asked my colleague, Stephan Wagner, who is the author of that picture, to resubmit it himself under GFDL-self. I realise now that we should have done it this way right away, but Stephan wasn't available to do the upload himself when I was writing the corresponding article yesterday, so I took the liberty to upload it for him.

Sorry for the confusion and I do hope this settles it.

Kind regards

Diversified Technology[edit]

I apologize, then - I'm new to this! :)

If it's ok, I'll work on rewriting it and submit a new one, hopefully more informative! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbmays (talkcontribs)

Evol Child[edit]

Are you going to delete 'Red vs Blue' next? Let's see I took time to post an article on an current internet web site about two boys making movies. How about we delete all of the machinima subject or anime? How is it that a site like Rooster Teeth Productions gets to spam all over the Wiki but the little guys independant film makers that are doing the same for free are... Oh did they pay you lots of money? Edetech 18:23, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you getting paid to not delete articles? I want a piece of that action! Where do I sign up? -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I find this very disturbing that something as small as the legitimate article I posted was removed while your "so called" online Encylopedia keeps lists of pornstars and their biograpghies? I have better things to do with my time and money than to waste it here. I am removing myself from your presence. There is no longer a need to respond as I will no longer see it. I know you believe you are always right and others are always wrong. I'm sure you will have some kind of self-assurance messge to post so as not to upset your mental stability.Edetech 04:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was researching an image that was deleted and happened upon your page: User:Redvers/Your image. That is just awesome :) Shell babelfish 22:29, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
