Hello,/Labas! I've noticed that you deleted a page for a tour operator - Firebird Tours. I'm wondering what was the reasoning for it as the changes were made according to the reviewer's suggestions, what in particular didn't fit with the standards of Wiki? Just curious what could be improved for future reference. Thanks in advance. Jklfnp89 (talk) 15:35, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks for your additions to this article. When it was first created I suggested merging with the town, but there now seems to be enough to make it worthwhile.

I see you amended the elevation of the island to 1 metre -- ok! But you have left the claim that parts of the island are 27 centimetres below sea level, and there is a link to a webpage in Lithuanian which seems to support this. (I'm afraid my knowledge of Lithuania and Lithuanian is almost zero.) But this claim is either meaningless/false/silly, or evidence of a totally extraordinary piece of geography. Places below sea level - the Dead Sea, for instance, and vast areas of central Asia - are invariably a long distance from the sea, separated by rock, and they are places with enough evaporation to eliminate the contribution of rainfall. Rusne (sorry, can't do accents easily) is neither; none of it exceeds 2 m elevation, and it is subject to flooding; it is formed of sediment from the river, which is bound to be porous. So if you find a place 1m above sea level, and dig a hole 150cm deep, you have a point more than 27 cm below sea level. But unless you install a concrete wall and a pumping system, it will turn into a pool.

I hope you follow this: it means that if the claim is true, it will be a fact known to every Lithuanian, and there will be much better evidence of how this extraordinary phenomenon has occurred, along with pictures. Unless such is forthcoming, I suggest removing the claim. But I hope perhaps you know more about it?

Incidentally, there are a number of infelicities in your edits (I guess English is not your first language); in particular the replacement bridge... if you say "A new bridge", then it was "built", not "rebuilt". But if the location is the same, you can just say "The bridge was not rebuilt until 1974" (referring to the logical bridge, rather than a particular physical bridge). Do you know if it is in the same place?

I will watch here! Thanks... Brian Chandler Imaginatorium (talk) 07:22, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) It’s true – as written in the Ministry of Agriculture (Lithuania) website [1]. “Žemiausia vietovė Lietuvos teritorijoje nustatyta Rusnės saloje…. Šiais matavimais nustatytas 0,27 m aukštis žemiau jūros lygio.” (EN: The established lowest point in the territory of Lithuania is on the island of Rusne…This measurement is set at 0.27 metres below sea level) The island is like the Netherlands (which is partly below sea level), with canals, dikes, polders, and pumping stations. If you scroll down in the above website you can see a nice aerial photo of the spot, showing polders. I’ll putter with the page soon to insert some of this interesting info. Novickas (talk) 13:59, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, friendly neighborhood stalker! :) Thanks for the link. I know the fact that somewhere in Rusne there is a place that is below the sea level since they made me memorize it in middle school geography lessons, but I could not find a good ref for that. @Imaginatorium: I think you are imagining that the island is below the sea level, when it's just some tiny spot. When I was in middle school, they said it's 1.3 metres below. Not it's just .27 metres... Re bridges, I don't know if it is in the same place. I would venture to guess that it is. Feel free to correct any grammar errors you see. Renata (talk) 01:40, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the responses. OK: I think this is effective if worded something like "Part of the island is poldered, and is famous within Lithuania as the lowest point, officiall 27 cm below sea level." It is a bit odd: it is quite inconceivable that the water level can be maintained to cm precision. And globally speaking it really is not very notable: of course the lowest point of the Netherlands or Israel is significant, but elevations are normally given in metres, not cm. I come from England, where the region of East Anglia has many drains, pumping stations and whatnot: it is quite possible that the lowest point is 51cm below sea level (or quite possibly more like 2 or 3 metres), but this is not normally something anyone even bothers to mention. I will try to copy edit the article in a few days (rather busy right now!) Imaginatorium (talk) 06:51, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Renata. I WP:ECHOed you at this page, but I don't know how your Echo preferences are set, you might not have it set to do email messages, so I thought it'd be better to leave a message about it here. Kupiškis[edit]

Hi Renata. Thanks for pointing that out. So where can I find what the Lithuanian definition of city/town/village is? Typically a city has a population of over 100,000. This place is no more than a large village in everyday language. --Bermicourt (talk) 16:11, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oil shale in Estonia[edit]

Hi, Renata -- I read your comments in your informal review of Oil shale in Estonia, and I just want to say that they are stunning. Your beginning comment, the thoroughness of your review, and your neat, pertinent comments show what an excellent editor you are. I could see that you picked up on quite a few things I missed. Really, really good work. CorinneSD (talk) 16:49, 2 December 2014 (UTC) I have modified these comments. I didn't quite say what I ought to have said, possibly because for a few days I was distracted by a real life issue. I want to express unqualified praise for your editing. CorinneSD (talk) 18:26, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, thank you. That's really nice of you, it sure put a smile on my face. (I did not see any problems with the prior comment as well). See you at the oil shale article ;) Renata (talk) 23:15, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Renata. I think that I have more or less responded to all your points, at last. Maybe if you are returning after your wikibreak, you could go through this article once m,ore as it has changed quite a lot. No rush, however. Beagel (talk) 20:22, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Trys Milijonai žodžiai[edit]

Labas! -- Pofka (talk) 18:45, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deja, galioja, ir dvigubi - Marijono originalas ir kazkieno vertimas. Visai nesvarbu, ked vertimas nera oficialus. Visos to autorines teises yra painus dalykas, bet vien del to, kad informacija voliojasi nemokamai kazkur internete, nereiskia, kad jai autorines teises netaikomos. Indeed, I am not in US these days, and Google decided to limit public domain to US only. That said, frankly, I just don't know when I'd have time to read it. If there is something you'd like me to check inside, I can do it, but but I am afraid any serious expansion based on it would need someone else. I do like the topic, but I just don't have the time these days (work...).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:54, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Renata, what do you think of this statement in the first paragraph:

It is the oldest bridge in the city and connects [the] city center with Šnipiškės.

Since the article says the present bridge was completed in 1952 this seems somewhat doubtful – unless all the bridges in the city were destroyed in WWII. Does "oldest" perhaps refer to the original 16th C. bridge?

BTW, sent you an email about the statues. Sca (talk) 21:31, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Sca. Yes, the "oldest" refers to the 16th century. No, I did not get an email from you. Renata (talk) 22:27, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seasons Greetings,

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.

Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.

While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

Since other contributors to the article are insisting for reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.

This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.

Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 05:53, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Merkelis Petkevičius, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 23:01, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection[edit]

Hello, Renata3. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins[edit]

A new user right for New Page Patrollers[edit]

Hi Renata3.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and maybe a little more help?[edit]

Thanks for your help and additions to Ona Mašiotienė. One of the problems of writing in other areas is not knowing the sources or the language. I always utilize multiple translation machines and then retranslate material to make sure that I understand it, but that is never as good as if I knew the language. As Women in Red's focus this month has been on CEE women, I've written several biographies from the region over the last several weeks. If you know Belarusian, Vera Maslovskaya could use some help. The translator programs picked up various phrases as Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, etc. and with each variation gave me different spellings, making it difficult to determine where events took place and what variant of the peoples' names should be used. The article in Belarusian had virtually no links, so it was even more difficult. If you can't assist, no worries, perhaps you know someone who can? SusunW (talk) 15:02, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SusunW. Sorry, I don't know Russian or Belarusian... Locating CEE towns and villages is perhaps the most annoying part of writing CEE articles. I have spent sometimes hours on chasing locations of a single village. It is time consuming and exhausting, and I have very little time these days to spend on Wikipedia... I can tell that you are careful and that you are researching places/institutions/people - thank you! It is quite rare to see that here. But if you ever write another Lithuanian bio, you know where to find me :) Renata (talk) 00:42, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should we redirect it for now to Second Mongol invasion of Poland? Or do you think we could stub it, at least, as an independent article? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:53, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Piotr. The existing article does not mention anything about Lithuania, so I don't think simple redirect without an expansion will suffice. But frankly, I am not very familiar with the topic (other than that there is a serious lack of sources). I have a book on the topic but not sure when I would be able to get to it. P.S. I also replied to you on PL wiki (don't know if you saw it as I forgot to ping you). Renata (talk) 02:09, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I randomly felt like writing it today, please review if you have some time. May need an interwiki to lt wiki. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:26, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Filter user contribution page by number of bytes changed[edit]

Hi, on meta:2017 Community Wishlist Survey/Miscellaneous #Filter user contribution page by number of bytes changed you have asked for a feature.

Today I discovered that section and updated mw:User:PerfektesChaos/js/resultListSort to sort by number of bytes wirhin the page.

This is not the same as retrieving edits from server with a certain number of added or removed bytes, but it permits focussing on larger changes.

Greetings --PerfektesChaos (talk) 00:01, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PerfektesChaos. Thanks! I installed it and it looks promising, but there are bugs. If I sort contributions, they all get thrown into a single paragraph (no line breaks) - very hard to read. Anyway to show each entry on its own line? Watchlist/recent changes sorting does not seem to work. Links here sorting works - yay! :) Renata (talk) 02:34, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the promising look.
No, it is not intended that something is merged into one line; it keeps all separate lines in a numbered list on page. Basically.
When I read your wishlist description last Thursday, I added some more patterns into contribution page representation and tested that on some desktop German language Wikis with several date-time-formatting. Usually this is sufficient, since only the core HTML structure of the Wiki page needs to be analysed and does not depend on any language or skin or project; just date formatting might become a challenge in some languages.
Today I will investigate English Wikipedia thoroughly, some Hebrew and Sanskrit Wikis, also skins and mobile, and patterns will be improved if necessary.
Please note that this screengrabbing tool is relying on the document structure as delivered by Wiki server. If other scripts also change appearance, some key information might be lost.
Useless to mention that it works right now on my contribution page here, but I’m interested to explore the difference between our presentations.
Watchlist and recent changes are an entirely diffent business; please try listPageOptions and I do hope for more success.
Best --PerfektesChaos (talk) 08:09, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Motiejus Gustaitis[edit]

Hello, may I trouble you for a bit of help? I've made a stub on Motiejus Gustaitis, could you perhaps take a look? Some blunders, inaccuracies, etc?.. Besides: ru-wiki states that he was the editor-in-chied of the Ziburys (Жибурис, Огонёк) magazine, in 1911-1914. According to the Lithuaninan wiki, though, as far as I could understand, he founded the (charity?) organisation of the same name, in 1907. Mysifyingly, having looked into lt:Žiburys (organizacija), I found no mention of Gustaitis at all, and it was founded in 1905 by somebody else. Were there several Žiburys's, perhaps?.. Thanks. -- Evermore2 (talk) 20:29, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Evermore2, it looks like he was one of the co-founders of the society which then later published the magazine that he edited. Sorry, I have to run to catch a plane. Will look further in 1.5 weeks :) Renata (talk) 23:39, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Evermore2, so I have expanded the article including both Žiburys (and may even write an article about it on English Wikipedia). Would appreciate if you could look over the references to make sure I did not screw them up (I don't have the access to the books you cited, though I glimpsed a couple things from Google Books snippets from the dictionary of writers). Thanks! Renata (talk) 15:02, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
But that's fantastic! To me everything looks just perfect. Thank you! -- Evermore2 (talk) 19:43, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:Kaunas county map.PNG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. My understanding of WP:CORPDEPTH is that it is more stringent than WP:GNG, and that it should be used instead of GNG when considering companies, however is it the case that an article which meets the requirements of WP:GNG does not have to meet the additional requirements of WP:CORPDEPTH? Dear Renata,

Portal:Lithuania has been upgraded using a variety of the new components being developed for the portal system redesign. The portal is now mostly automated.

The Portals WikiProject is about a third of the way done in developing new toys for the system-wide revamp. See the ongoing design efforts at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Portals/Design.

So far, the following features, which are highly customizable, have been implemented on this portal:

It is now a single portal page.
The excerpts are auto-updating. There is no longer any need for editors to copy and paste excerpts into this portal, as those are gathered using "selective transclusion", so that they always match the source article from which they were taken. That is, they won't go stale or content fork from the original source material.
The portal now includes a picture slideshow and (highly experimental) excerpt slideshows. Slideshow selections are randomized from the slideshows' collections. And, as new images or list items are added to the specified source pages in the encyclopedia, the collections of the slideshows on the portal auto adjust to match. That is, the content auto updates. For example, you never have to add a new biography to the portal, as it is based on the list of biographies in the encyclopedia.
A panoramic picture banner has been added that automatically adjusts to fit the width of the page, to always span the top of the portal. (Previously, zooming out caused it to shrink, and zooming in grew it out of the frame and into horizontal scrolling mode).
The columns auto adjust so that box-bottoms match up at the ends of the columns. Like the Main page, but using a more advanced method to distribute the white space out amongst sections.
The categories auto update (using a CategoryTree call).
The featured articles and good articles sections key off of the Recognized content section, which is in turn automatically updated by JL-Bot. As new featured/good articles are created about Lithuania, the portal automatically reflects that (the bot runs daily).

The portal is almost maintenance free.

Note that some of the components being used here are prototypes, undergoing betatesting, and will be further refined before widespread implementation. We are in the process of finding and fixing glitches, and haven't fully refined the mobile device view yet for some of the new features.

New developments are on the way. There is a growing pool of tools and components to choose from for building portals. If you feel inclined to try them, just remember one thing: have fun!

For a record of progress so far on the portal system as a whole, see the WikiProject's newsletter archive.

I hope you like what you see. If you have any comments, suggestions, ideas, or questions, please feel free to share them.

Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   21:12, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: The mobile view has been fixed to show one excerpt per section, rather than displaying the whole set of excerpts as a thumbnail gallery with long thin columns. (The slide show feature isn't available for mobile viewing for technical reasons). Any comments on how we can further improve the design are most welcome.    — The Transhumanist   10:19, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be wiser to leave the article under its Polish name. There are probably a hundred countries with organisation of this type and many have similar names. It's better to give its real name than "National Health Fund (Poland)" or something similar. Rathfelder (talk) 16:45, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rathfelder, it looks like there is a "National Health Fund" in Jamaica and Luxembourg, and probably somewhere else. I have no issue using a disambiguation like "National Health Fund (Poland)", but Polish original name should be avoided per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). Renata (talk) 20:14, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well - I'm not going to fight about it - but that says use the "name of the subject which is most common in the English language" - and this is not an organisation which is much known in English. I dont speak Polish at all. Is this the unambiguous translation? Rathfelder (talk) 20:20, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Rathfelder, Yes, it looks to be the translation used by the fund itself (e.g. here) and there is plenty of English references to fund on Google. My Polish is very primitive, but it is an easy literal translation to English. Renata (talk) 20:30, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Lets use this for Poland, as it is much bigger than Jamaica or Luxemburg. Rathfelder (talk) 20:33, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The book preview source does not show that quote =[edit]

The book preview source does not show that quote

in the book preview it says on page 3 https://books.google.ca/books?id=JsACYdM7VA0C&pg=PA3&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=2#v=onepage&q&f=false

But for decades many of these pictures were of little interest until the late Twentieth Century the Proliferation of memories to the Six Million murdered Jews and the commercialization of Holocaust

it did not say

"a symbol of the barbarity of the Nazi regime and their industrial scale murdered of 11 million people including 6 million European Jews

I put a Source that talks about the picture the other one in the preview Source was generally talking about holocaust pictures so if some ones goes to the source it will match

its from Professor Samuel Totten Book Professor Adam Muller

says he uses the photo is used has a way to illustrate and Intensify the effect of Abraham Sutzkever Poem about a herring

that is from Teaching about Genocide: Insights and Advice from Secondary Teachers and Professors Volume 2 page 149 the content page shows Adam Muller taking about the photo page 149 https://books.google.com/books?id=fyx1DwAAQBAJ&pg=PA149&lpg=PA149&dq=Ivanhorod+Einsatzgruppen+photograph&source=bl&ots=go8X3FBczN&sig=ACfU3U0JUEEgxTASilXzpiZSwgkr9fZTSA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjJzN_jn8nhAhUqtlkKHcCkA1c4FBDoATADegQICRAB#v=onepage&q&f=false

https://rowman.com/ISBN/9781475847420/Teaching-about-Genocide-Insights-and-Advice-from-Secondary-Teachers-and-Professors-Volume-2

the contents page shows the name that way if some one clicks on the source it will match

Jack90s15 (talk) 00:26, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jack90s15. Yes, the quote is in the book, on page 77, as cited. You can check on Google or Amazon - search for word "barbarity". Can send screenshots if you insist, but it is really there. And Totten's book is trivial use/mention of the image -- it is used widely in Holocaust texts. Renata (talk) 04:05, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK Thanks for the source the Preview one did let me see that I will put it back to saying

Photograph historian Janina Struk describes it as "a symbol of the barbarity of the Nazi regime and their industrial scale murder of 6 million European Jews" with the source you gave me

since that's what the source says and not

"a symbol of the barbarity of the Nazi regime and their industrial scale murdered of 11 million people including 6 million European Jews Jack90s15 (talk) 04:39, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Claude de Mesmes[edit]

Dear Renata3! Thanks for your intervention on the Article Claude de Mesmes. Thanks for moving the family tree into a better place and all the rest. A special thanks for removing the marker "The Kingdom of France-related article is a stub" at the end of the article. You seem to agree that this article has now been developed beyond a stub. It should probably be promoted to Start Class according to the rules of "WP:Content assessment". I believe You could do this as you are unbiased. I am too involved in the article's recent editing and therefore biased. If I understand the procedure right, this should be done by changing the value of the Class parameter from "stub" to "start" in WikiProject France, Sweden and Poland.

There is one part of your editing that I have doubts about. This is the replacement of the heading "Notes and references" with the three headings "Notes, "References", and "Bibliography". MOS:LAYOUT suggests the headings "Notes and references", "Further reading" and "External links". Having deleted the Tischer references, I believe I really only need "Notes and references". There are only three top-level headings for the body of the article, I feel there should not be more than one for the notes and references. I might be wrong. There are many things in the MOS that I still do not understand well. Otherwise, could we agree to revert to the heading "Notes and references"?

With many thanks and greetings Johannes Schade (talk) 17:13, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Johannes! You are welcome, and thank you for your work on expanding the article. You can change the article ratings yourself - there is no real rule that you need to be uninvolved. But I have changed the rating to C-class, I think the article has been improved beyond Start-class. As far as the sections go, MOS is not a law to live and die for. It's a set of guidelines and best practices, but they might not be "best" in a particular article. The three sections in the Mesmes article need some sort of headings or sub-headings (see, for example, today's featured article Gothic boxwood miniature which has the three sections as sub-sections under "References" or previous featured article Sissinghurst Castle Garden which has all sections). So there is more flexibility than you seem to think. Renata (talk) 20:31, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Renata3. Thank you so much. If there is anything I can do for you in Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to tell me. Best regards Johannes Schade (talk) 09:22, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)[edit]

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

Baltic Way and Hong Kong[edit]

Hello Renata3, I am wondering why you cleaned up the addition of the Hong Kong way to the article about the Baltic way?
Didn't you like the addition?
They did commemorate The Baltic Way 30 years later to the date and both are demands for more independence from communism.
It seemed like a great addition to the article to me.

Hi 2019OutlaweD: Because of the undue attention and duplication of info, I have converted the separate section into a sentence in the "evaluations" section where it talks about other similar protests. So the info is still there, just in a better spot for more cohesion. Renata (talk) 00:56, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure if it was undue weight. I didn't mean it like that, at least. I am just struck by the democracy loving people of Hong Kong and their fight for freedom, just as I am struck by the same fight of the Baltic people.
Regardless, it turned out to be a fine addition the way you did it.
And perhaps you are right to make it less prominent on the page.
Anyway, the information is there and the page turned out to be great, so well done and thanks Renata3.

p.s. I noticed the edit just before going to bed, so I didn't see too clearly what you did. That is what prompted my question.
