Hello,/Labas! I've noticed that you deleted a page for a tour operator - Firebird Tours. I'm wondering what was the reasoning for it as the changes were made according to the reviewer's suggestions, what in particular didn't fit with the standards of Wiki? Hello! Thanks for your additions to this article. When it was first created I suggested merging with the town, but there now seems to be enough to make it worthwhile.
I see you amended the elevation of the island to 1 metre -- ok! But you have left the claim that parts of the island are 27 centimetres below sea level, and there is a link to a webpage in Lithuanian which seems to support this. (I'm afraid my knowledge of Lithuania and Lithuanian is almost zero.) But this claim is either meaningless/false/silly, or evidence of a totally extraordinary piece of geography. Places below sea level - the Dead Sea, for instance, and vast areas of central Asia - are invariably a long distance from the sea, separated by rock, and they are places with enough evaporation to eliminate the contribution of rainfall. Rusne (sorry, can't do accents easily) is neither; none of it exceeds 2 m elevation, and it is subject to flooding; it is formed of sediment from the river, which is bound to be porous. So if you find a place 1m above sea level, and dig a hole 150cm deep, you have a point more than 27 cm below sea level. But unless you install a concrete wall and a pumping system, it will turn into a pool.
I hope you follow this: it means that if the claim is true, it will be a fact known to every Lithuanian, and there will be much better evidence of how this extraordinary phenomenon has occurred, along with pictures. Unless such is forthcoming, I suggest removing the claim. But I hope perhaps you know more about it?
Incidentally, there are a number of infelicities in your edits (I guess English is not your first language); in particular the replacement bridge... if you say "A new bridge", then it was "built", not "rebuilt". But if the location is the same, you can just say "The bridge was not rebuilt until 1974" (referring to the logical bridge, rather than a particular physical bridge). Do you know if it is in the same place?

Šiais matavimais nustatytas 0,27 m aukštis žemiau jūros lygio.” (EN: The established lowest point in the territory of Lithuania is on the island of Rusne…This measurement is set at 0.27 metres below sea level) The island is like the Netherlands (which is partly below sea level), with canals, dikes, polders, and pumping stations. If you scroll down in the above website you can see a nice aerial photo of the spot, showing polders. I’ll putter with the page soon to insert some of this interesting info. - Hello, friendly neighborhood stalker! :) Thanks for the link. I know the fact that somewhere in Rusne there is a place that is below the sea level since they made me memorize it in middle school geography lessons, but I could not find a good ref for that. @Imaginatorium: I think you are imagining that the island is below the sea level, when it's just some tiny spot. When I was in middle school, they said it's 1.3 metres below. Not it's just .27 metres... Re bridges, I don't know if it is in the same place. I would venture to guess that it is. - Thanks for the responses. OK: I think this is effective if worded something like "Part of the island is poldered, and is famous within Lithuania as the lowest point, officiall 27 cm below sea level." It is a bit odd: it is quite inconceivable that the water level can be maintained to cm precision. And globally speaking it really is not very notable: of course the lowest point of the Netherlands or Israel is significant, but elevations are normally given in metres, not cm. I come from England, where the region of East Anglia has many drains, pumping stations and whatnot: it is quite possible that the lowest point is 51cm below sea level (or quite possibly more like 2 or 3 metres), but this is not normally something anyone even bothers to mention. Renata, what do you think of this statement in the first paragraph:
- It is the oldest bridge in the city and connects [the] city center with Šnipiškės.
Since the article says the present bridge was completed in 1952 this seems somewhat doubtful – unless all the bridges in the city were destroyed in WWII. Does "oldest" perhaps refer to the original 16th C. bridge?

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.
Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.
While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages[edit]
Thank you for your recent articles, including Merkelis Petkevičius, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Extended confirmed protection[edit]
Hello, Renata3. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

A new user right for New Page Patrollers[edit]
Hi Renata3.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However,due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

Thanks for your help and additions to Ona Mašiotienė. One of the problems of writing in other areas is not knowing the sources or the language. I always utilize multiple translation machines and then retranslate material to make sure that I understand it, but that is never as good as if I knew the language. As Women in Red's focus this month has been on CEE women, I've written several biographies from the region over the last several weeks. If you know Belarusian, Vera Maslovskaya could use some help. The translator programs picked up various phrases as Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, etc. and with each variation gave me different spellings, making it difficult to determine where events took place and what variant of the peoples' names should be used. The article in Belarusian had virtually no links, so it was even more difficult. If you can't assist, no worries, perhaps you know someone who can? SusunW (talk) 15:02, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi, on meta:2017 Community Wishlist Survey/Miscellaneous #Filter user contribution page by number of bytes changed you have asked for a feature.
Today I discovered that section and updated mw:User:PerfektesChaos/js/resultListSort to sort by number of bytes wirhin the page.
This is not the same as retrieving edits from server with a certain number of added or removed bytes, but it permits focussing on larger changes.

- No, it is not intended that something is merged into one line; it keeps all separate lines in a numbered list on page. Basically.
- When I read your wishlist description last Thursday, I added some more patterns into contribution page representation and tested that on some desktop German language Wikis with several date-time-formatting. Usually this is sufficient, since only the core HTML structure of the Wiki page needs to be analysed and does not depend on any language or skin or project; just date formatting might become a challenge in some languages.
- Today I will investigate English Wikipedia thoroughly, some Hebrew and Sanskrit Wikis, also skins and mobile, and patterns will be improved if necessary.
- Please note that this screengrabbing tool is relying on the document structure as delivered by Wiki server. If other scripts also change appearance, some key information might be lost.
- Useless to mention that it works right now on my contribution page here, but I’m interested to explore the difference between our presentations.
- Watchlist and recent changes are an entirely diffent business; please try listPageOptions and I do hope for more success.

Motiejus Gustaitis[edit]
Hello, may I trouble you for a bit of help? I've made a stub on Motiejus Gustaitis, could you perhaps take a look? Some blunders, inaccuracies, etc?.. Besides: ru-wiki states that he was the editor-in-chied of the Ziburys (Жибурис, Огонёк) magazine, in 1911-1914. According to the Lithuaninan wiki, though, as far as I could understand, he founded the (charity?) organisation of the same name, in 1907. Mysifyingly, having looked into lt:Žiburys (organizacija), I found no mention of Gustaitis at all, and it was founded in 1905 by somebody else. Were there several Žiburys's, perhaps?.. Question about CORPDEPTH[edit]
My understanding of WP:CORPDEPTH is that it is more stringent than WP:GNG, and that it should be used instead of GNG when considering companies, however is it the case that an article which meets the requirements of WP:GNG does not have to meet the additional requirements of WP:CORPDEPTH? Dear Renata,
Portal:Lithuania has been upgraded using a variety of the new components being developed for the portal system redesign. The portal is now mostly automated.
The Portals WikiProject is about a third of the way done in developing new toys for the system-wide revamp. See the ongoing design efforts at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Portals/Design.
So far, the following features, which are highly customizable, have been implemented on this portal:
- It is now a single portal page.
- The excerpts are auto-updating. There is no longer any need for editors to copy and paste excerpts into this portal, as those are gathered using "selective transclusion", so that they always match the source article from which they were taken. That is, they won't go stale or content fork from the original source material.
- The portal now includes a picture slideshow and (highly experimental) excerpt slideshows. Slideshow selections are randomized from the slideshows' collections. And, as new images or list items are added to the specified source pages in the encyclopedia, the collections of the slideshows on the portal auto adjust to match. That is, the content auto updates. For example, you never have to add a new biography to the portal, as it is based on the list of biographies in the encyclopedia.
- A panoramic picture banner has been added that automatically adjusts to fit the width of the page, to always span the top of the portal. (Previously, zooming out caused it to shrink, and zooming in grew it out of the frame and into horizontal scrolling mode).
- The columns auto adjust so that box-bottoms match up at the ends of the columns. Like the Main page, but using a more advanced method to distribute the white space out amongst sections.
- The categories auto update (using a CategoryTree call).
- The featured articles and good articles sections key off of the Recognized content section, which is in turn automatically updated by JL-Bot. As new featured/good articles are created about Lithuania, the portal automatically reflects that (the bot runs daily).
The portal is almost maintenance free.
Note that some of the components being used here are prototypes, undergoing betatesting, and will be further refined before widespread implementation. We are in the process of finding and fixing glitches, and haven't fully refined the mobile device view yet for some of the new features.
New developments are on the way. There is a growing pool of tools and components to choose from for building portals. If you feel inclined to try them, just remember one thing: have fun!

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. I think it would be wiser to leave the article under its Polish name. There are probably a hundred countries with organisation of this type and many have similar names. - Hi Rathfelder, it looks like there is a "National Health Fund" in Jamaica and Luxembourg, and probably somewhere else. I have no issue using a disambiguation like "National Health Fund (Poland)", but Polish original name should be avoided per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). - Hi Jack90s15. Yes, the quote is in the book, on page 77, as cited. You can check on Google or Amazon - search for word "barbarity". Can send screenshots if you insist, but it is really there. Dear Renata3! Thanks for your intervention on the Article Claude de Mesmes. Thanks for moving the family tree into a better place and all the rest. A special thanks for removing the marker "The Kingdom of France-related article is a stub" at the end of the article. You seem to agree that this article has now been developed beyond a stub. It should probably be promoted to Start Class according to the rules of "WP:Content assessment". I believe You could do this as you are unbiased. I am too involved in the article's recent editing and therefore biased. If I understand the procedure right, this should be done by changing the value of the Class parameter from "stub" to "start" in WikiProject France, Sweden and Poland.
There is one part of your editing that I have doubts about. This is the replacement of the heading "Notes and references" with the three headings "Notes, "References", and "Bibliography". MOS:LAYOUT suggests the headings "Notes and references", "Further reading" and "External links". Having deleted the Tischer references, I believe I really only need "Notes and references". There are only three top-level headings for the body of the article, I feel there should not be more than one for the notes and references. I might be wrong. There are many things in the MOS that I still do not understand well. Otherwise, could we agree to revert to the heading "Notes and references"?

- Hi Johannes! You are welcome, and thank you for your work on expanding the article. You can change the article ratings yourself - there is no real rule that you need to be uninvolved. But I have changed the rating to C-class, I think the article has been improved beyond Start-class. As far as the sections go, MOS is not a law to live and die for. It's a set of guidelines and best practices, but they might not be "best" in a particular article. The three sections in the Mesmes article need some sort of headings or sub-headings (see, for example, today's featured article Gothic boxwood miniature which has the three sections as sub-sections under "References" or previous featured article Sissinghurst Castle Garden which has all sections). Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)[edit]
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
