- Hi, we've had a number of problems with this article in the past, culminating in it being proposed for deletion about two years ago. Since then, the article has been cleaned up and cited to the best possible sources I can find. So, I consequently reverted your edit because a) it didn't cite any sources and b) it didn't seem an obvious omission or clarification that made the article easier to understand for the reader. By way of contrast, there has since been another edit removing two dates claiming the source citing them is problematic (which is fair comment) which I have left stand as it cannot be challenged. Zmbro is the best editor I know for all things Bowie and may be able to offer further advice.

- Hi Ritchie, thanks for your response.
- My thinking was that it was useful to include the information that Roxy Music supported Bowie at the Greyhound, Croydon on that tour. It was just after the release of their debut LP and would have been an interesting snippet for Bowie and Roxy fans alike. I cited from a Roxy Music concert source, which was the most authoritative I could find. My other interest in this is that I actually attended that show. :)

- It would be useful to put in something like "The band were supported by Roxy Music at the Greyhound, Croydon on 25 June", provided we can find a good source (eg: any decent book covering Bowie or Roxy Music; unfortunately I don't have any myself). The problem with personal memories (particularly from several decades ago) is that they fade and get mixed up with other things. (Or maybe that's just me). Thank you for your thought about getting Martin unblocked! - The rose pic was taken on 11 Sep 2021, and this year was full of music that day, Tag des offenen Denkmals, not only singing in church and rehearsals for Verdi's Requiem, but two concerts at special places pictured, one a synagogue (pictured on its wall). Today three DYK: a piece we'll perform on Sunday, a violinist we heard in June playing the Berg Concerto (my brother played in the orchestra), and a Youth Orchestra shaped by a conductor who recently died. - Sure. There have been a number of problems on this article, and a principal issue is edits that cite tabloid newspapers such as the Daily Mirror. The relevant policy states that such edits should be removed immediately and without discussion. Although Caroline Flack is sadly not living, her friends, partners and family are, so the policy does apply, in my view. I hope that clarifies the issue. - Hi Ritchie333. I see two problems here. Firstly, the Daily Mirror is not on the list of prohibited sources on Wikipedia. Secondly, Caroline Flack is dead, not living. Having living relatives is not relevant I believe. The relevant policy states that at most information may be supressed up to 2 years after the date of death where it relates to a sensitive aspect of the death. In this case she has been dead for 2 1/2 years now, the allegations of abuse against a former partner do not directly concern her death and they are in any case well known.

Roads
Hey! Do let me know (via talk or email, or even on the page itself) if you have any suggestions regarding how to effectively mentor editors, or critiques of what I'm doing at the moment. I've guided newer editors but never really done this before; I just surmised that no one else would step up. For now I'll be focusing on policy through miscellaneous exercises and asking them to interpret them, then going through road articles while surveying their contributions for WP:V/C/OR issues, on a bit of a leash. - Hi. I don't think I've really participated much in mentoring new editors at all to this extent. As far as I can tell, your questions are good. Part of the problem is that since a number of GAs and FAs have been written on a particular topic, and the overall quality has improved the general expertise needed to contribute has increased. While the WMF are still keen to press forward the number of articles created as a good statistic, there's been more of a grass-roots drive to improve quality - which is kind of how Roads4117 has ended up where they are.
- I know Worm That Turned has done quite a few mentoring tasks in the past, which have been reasonably successful. I can remember attending a workshop at the Wellcome Library in London, run by MassiveEartha, where I questioned the point of the activity afterwards - everyone was writing the same draft, while I spotted an improvable A7 candidate in CAT:CSD and said "hey, let's work on this!" but this didn't seem to the be what the task was geared towards. I have chatted about mentorship with WereSpielChequers in the past, and he made the salient point that you're effectively asking people to start a new hobby, which doesn't happen that often. But having run and helped at many outreach events, some people need the opportunity to make easy first steps much more than others. Like how do you deal with an edit conflict etc etc, or how does this hotcat thingy work?. So when I talk to newish editors I try to steer them to where they want to go, what subject they care about - we've probably got a WikiProject for it even if it is dormant. - Interesting! Well, this editor is not totally new and I believe they want to contribute quality articles. I want it to be a gentle ramp up, although yeah, road article sourcing is a bit of a yikes. burning bridges
There was an oppose at my RfA that someone -- maybe you? -- characterized as calculated to ensure the person could never find their way back. They really wanted to stop editing, and they just couldn't stay away, so they did something after which nothing could pull them back in. I'm wondering if that's what happened at this RfA. - That would have been the oppose by Eric Corbett, who did so partially because you are a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red. I don't want to revisit the literally years of controversy that Eric generated, but I had generally defended him up to that point in the hope that I could increase the volume of Eric the copyeditor and FA writer and reviewer, and reduce the volume of Eric the grumpy and incivil crank. Eric had previously banged heads with some of the more vocal Wikipedia:Gender Gap Task Force members and got topic banned for it, so he felt your membership of WIR was an easy target. He lost my support for his continued presence on Wikipedia at that point, as I suspect a few editors also did. He was blocked
for some unrelated incidentfollowing an AE discussion thread shortly afterwards, and then fell on his sword. He came back as a sockpuppet, Dr Horncastle, to oppose EvergreenFir's RfA, and then got really blocked. I have banned one person for this elsewhere on the internet about ten years ago, and I saw another rage-quit about a year ago. Another person again was censured for comments that upset a trans woman greatly (and that's the polite, concise, version); I think he too rage-quit before he was booted off. - It's so bizarre to me to see this kind of objection for an RfA. I understand (not agree with, but can understand the point of view) the folks who are objecting to trans women in sports that are about strength or speed or height or reach or hand size, and for which in many cases there is an actual pie: only X members of a team are allowed. - Seriously, I think it's human nature - fear of the unknown. It's kind of similar to how people in Britain with the least amount of immigration voted for Brexit to stop immigration ([1]). In my case, I'm fortunate enough to have some trans people as friends and know what they've gone through in life through conversations with them. The user groznia removes a 2020 estimate to choose one which gives a higher christian population while I gave a 2020 estimate to he doesnt give a reason why in the edit summary and refuses to engage in the talk page here is the edit history I compromised with both graphs which they still remove this will lead to a edit war again as groznia refuses to talk in the talk page

- Sorry, I've been busy in real life and the only time I've had is to do a bit of content and maintenance work. Plus in this case, the RSN discussion appeared to have run out of steam; I'm not sure what the consensus is. In my case, I would use it sparingly, for extra detail and specific technical information, but try and use books and newspaper sources if possible. - Go ahead, only: I haven't seen a single removal of an infobox after an RfC. With a compromise, it's at peace, and without, it's not. LO was really the bottom of those.
