Dear M. Rjwilmsi, Here is a on the spot self survey for active Editors, without turning to look at your histories, try to answer the following from your gut reaction. What percentage of your work on wiki is: adding content? editing content? revediting others content? Deleting? blocking/unblocking? making warnings? Now jot down your answers, and then check your histories, how accurate were your gutguesses?

curious to hear, thanks for taking the time if you do! BespokeFM (talk) 00:01, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

AWB code question

Greetings RJ, I hope you don't mind but I had a question about the AWB code. I was looking through it to get a better understanding of how to do some things and how the code works and I noticed some super minor stuff. I don't really think that its worth doing a bug report in AWB for in most cases but I thought I would ask you about them anyway just to see what you thought should be done if anything. Several deal with typos in comments (teh instead of the in a couple places for example but there are a few others as well) and things like that. If you think its worth even fixing I could tell the module (Wikiregexes for example) and the line number if that would help. --Kumioko (talk) 15:52, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

All improvements are welcome. The easiest way is for you to create a patch with TortoiseSVN and post it here. Rjwilmsi 20:57, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Ok thanks, never heard of that app but I'll go and check it out. When you say here do you mean here on your talk page? --Kumioko (talk) 21:21, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Well I got tortoise installed. When I try and connect to the site its giving me an error though. Do I need to create a sourceforge account in order to connect to the AWB repository? --Kumioko (talk) 02:44, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Read access to checkout the code is public. Rjwilmsi 09:09, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
OK thanks I'll get it figured out. --Kumioko (talk) 13:38, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Custom module help needed

I would like to search inside |birth_date= in {{Infobox NFL retired}} (and its redirects if any) and replace <br> with \n |birth_place=. Can you please help me on that? -- Magioladitis (talk) 23:33, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Hugo Hansen

Hi there. Yesterday, your bot created a redirect from Hugo Hansen to Hugo Hansén, which is reasonable. In this case, the problem is that Hugo Hansen is a Norwegian footballer (without an article), and every wikilink towards Hugo Hansen is about the Norwegian footballer. Sometime in the near future, I will make an article about him (My goal is to "remove" all the red links on Molde FK), so I wonder:

Regards, Mentoz86 (talk) 09:47, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

I think someone needs to created the footballer page as a stub. WP:HATNOTEs should no link to red-linked pages and MOS:DABRL gives restrictions when to include a red-link to a disambiguation page. After the page is created you can ask advice in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:53, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, I was wondering where I was supposed create the new article about the Norwegian footballer (hard to create an article without a space to put it), but I've made a stub in my userspace: User:Mentoz86/Hugo Hansen and will ask the same question at the dab-project. Thank you for your help. Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 10:22, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Odd bot result

I was doing some cleanup on Xi Jinping and found that this CiteCompletion, it seems to be called of a link-only footnote added a writer (whole different name) and a date (off by one day) that don't match the article linked to. And the article appears to be the one originally cited. And the writer appears not to have been at the paper at the time of the cite. Nothing that old for the writer; and nothing with Xi Jinping and the writer; came up in WaPo searches. So I've changed the footnote accordingly. But I'm curious how the bot came up with the apparently wrong info. Can you enlighten? Swliv (talk) 00:37, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Date is from the dc.date.issued metadata (article went on website evening before it was published on paper?). Author was incorrect, picked up the author from one of the links to other stories. I've now corrected the logic to pick up the dc.creator metadata for the author. Thanks Rjwilmsi 08:26, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Neat. Not much idea what you've said but I think you got it 100%. You're most welcome. Thanks to you, too. Swliv (talk) 19:48, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

CiteCompletion source

Do you plan on making the source code for CiteCompletion available? I'd like to be add a number of tech related news sites to the xml settings files & some custom code.Smallman12q (talk) 00:38, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

I've not designed it for public release and would be dubious about providing support to a third party. It would be easier if you asked me to add a list of sites to the ones I cover. If they include decent metadata in the HHML header it only takes a couple of minutes to add a site. Rjwilmsi 08:20, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Here are a few tech sites:

This fairly quiescent page attracted your attention in May 2010. I'm not sure I understand how your edit -- an out-of-date template -- was explained exactly then but it seemed to fit OK last month when I first worked on the page. Today, I did some more and felt the template was probably now old itself. Any comments there I'd think. Thanks. Swliv (talk) 21:01, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Cyrillic ≠ diacritics

RjwilmsiBot recently created Лиbераlно-Демократска Партија. It seems to think that, just as "e" corresponds to "é", "b" and "l" correspond to "б" and "л". This is wrong. Please change this bot so that it does not create pointless Cyrillic/Latin mixtures like that. Gorobay (talk) 15:56, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Apologies, this was an error. I'd thought that I'd seen and removed any such ones from the list. Rjwilmsi 18:36, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
