Source for NCAA pod sites?

What's your source for filling in the locations of the first 2 rounds in the 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament bracket? Chitown03 (talk) 19:35, 4 March 2009 (UTC)chitown03 3/4/08

ESPN :) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology I supposed we could add the arena names too if desired. They are listed here: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3148849 Ryan2845 (talk) 20:46, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

That's what I figured. Those are projected sites, not the actual. Like the teams and seeds, the sites are all Joe Linardi's predictions. The sites and teams will both be annouched on Selection Sunday.Chitown03 (talk) 21:03, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Ah my bad, you are correct. Ryan2845 (talk) 21:10, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Consensus All-Americans

I noticed you did the Lion's share of the work on the NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans pages so I thought I'd bounce this off you. Usually when discussing players in the past, the emphasis is on consensus All-American status, do you think it might be good to use these pages to show the consensus teams, then show the teams that made up the consensus picks? For example, these days the AP, USBWA, NABC and TSN teams are used to determine the consusus squads. The way it is, it makes it seem like the AP list is the de facto standard, which isn't usually how we look at it historically. I can update the pages but seeing as how you set the format, I really didn't want to do so without checking in with you to make sure you were OK w/it. I have the info back as far as there were All-Americans. Thanks - good work! Rikster2 (talk) 01:12, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

The reason I went with Helms/AP is that they were the easiest to find the information on and seem to be the most respected/referenced as far as writers and school record books are concerned. But certainly if you have access to more information, feel free to add it to the articles! Ryan2845 (talk) 03:20, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Check it out - I completed the 2008 team: 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans. I'll do the others as I can Rikster2 (talk) 21:22, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Awesome! That's definitely an improvement, keep up the good work. If you add any new ones, move their date to the new "consensus" section that i made on the nav box Template:NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans Ryan2845 (talk) 23:06, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
AFAIK, there is no such thing as Consensus Second-Team. I mostly work on football however. Where did the lingo come from? From what I understand there are three types of All-Americans (plus second and third-team):
  1. Player on at least one First-Team of lists recognized for consensus.
  2. Player on at least half of the First-Teams of recognized lists is considered Consensus All-American.
  3. Player on all of the First-Teams of recognized lists is considered Unanimous All-American.

Players who make no first-teams are generally described by their highest team of the recognized lists. E.g., In 2003, Kirk Hinrich was a Third-team All-American, Kyle Korver was a Second-team All-American, Carmelo Anthony was an All-American, Hollis Price was a consensus All-American and David West (basketball) was a unanimous All-American.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:58, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Should probably post this on Rikster2's talk page, i'm not sure he'll see it over here, i'll copy it over there Ryan2845 (talk) 07:38, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Basketball does have consensus 2nd teams, maybe the difference is because the teams are smaller. Here is the link to the NCAA record book showing the consensus 1st and 2nd teams: NCAA Basketball Record Book: Award Winners Section as well as to the 2005 publication "NCAA Finest" which shows the team breakdowns to 2005 (AAs start on page 174) NCAA Men's basketball's finest. These two publications have the consolidated info that I have been drawing from (though I have tried to link the original sites where possible) Rikster2 (talk) 15:40, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm tending to support your argument here. Just be careful to use the talk page and watch out for WP:3RR. It won't do any harm if the information is on the page for a couple days, I think your view point will win out in the end. I've warned the anon about 3RR as well. Template:CBB Yearly Record End

Hi there. I noticed you added a fourth color to the coaching record key. Do you think we should also add a color for winning the national and regular season championship, the national and tournament championship, and all three championships - national, regular season, and tournament? That's three more colors there. I don't know if we'll clutter up the table by adding those. I temporarily added symbols for Pat Summitt's record - let me know what you think of that. BlueAg09 (Talk) 18:59, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

While it's certainly possible, i think it might clutter things up like you said. Especially when finding that many shades of colors that don't look too similar in a browser. I just added the "regular season + tournament" category because I didn't like that you had to choose one over the other, giving one more importance. National championships on the other hand, are certainly more important than conference results, so i'm ok with overriding conference results in that case. I think we should probably just stick to symbols on pages where it is desired, like the example you have shown. I certainly don't have a problem with someone else adding the categories though, if they can make it work nicely. Ryan2845 (talk) 19:43, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

July 2008

I see you've added colors on the season-by-season results table on the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball page and I think it's a great change. I was only just going to comment that the colors do make viewing some of the text (the black standard text and the blue link text) a bit difficult. Demoares (talk) 22:41, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree with that, i tried to find some shades of blue that would retain more readability but then they were harder to distinguish between the colors. I will probably try to tweak it some more later. Feel free to tweak it also if you like
I will say though that for me at least the black text remains highly readable on all color backgrounds. The main issue issue is the blue links. Ryan2845 (talk) 23:20, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
I've just lightened the colors up some, let me know if you think that is better Ryan2845 (talk) 23:37, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

The Get Up Kids

Hey, I appreciate your comments. While the Pope brothers live in Olathe now, I'm fairly certain that they are actually from KC MO, particularly due to their close relation to "Valentine Road" in many of their lyrics. Most of the band actually grew up on or near this road (save for James, who grew up in Liberty). They even stated this at their final show at the Uptown, which is actually ON Valentine Road. Just wanted to clear this up. But again, thanks for taking your time to improve these articles. I've really been working on them alone for a while, and it's good to have someone new contribute. Cheers! Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 19:17, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, I dunno about that. I'm POSITIVE that Pryor grew up on Valentine, and I'm very close to sure that Jim and the Popes did too. However, I know as a FACT that James is from Liberty. He's mentioned it numerous times at live shows, and Liberty is even mentioned a few times on Last Stop: Crappy Town, as well as in the Lawrence.com interview used as a reference on that page. Knowing this, I have to call that classmates.com entry into question. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 19:28, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I guess that makes sense. However, here's my suggestion: Change the infobox, and include it in their bio, but you don't have to elaborate on the city. If you link to the Olathe, Kansas page, that will be enough. Also, I don't think that the article for the band should be changed. While three of the members were from Olathe, the band itself moved into a house on Valentine before they even put out their first release. (I listened to the bootleg of their final show, and it confirmed this.) Besides, since they were living in KC MO before they did anything notable, that would make the band itself from KC MO. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 19:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Dude, you have no idea. It isn't often enough that I encounter fans of the band, and when I do it's always great. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 19:54, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

The Terrible Twos

Hey, would you be at all interested in helping make an article for The Terrible Twos? I was on Vagrant's website and saw that they would be releasing a second album, and I figured that they are long past due for an article. We'd just need to collect some sources for it, but that shouldn't be to terribly hard. Would you be up for it? Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 19:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure! Go ahead and start it up and i'll see what I can find and add to it Ryan2845 (talk) 19:55, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I made the page. It's just a placeholder for right now. It really needs to be fleshed out, and at the moment doesn't have any sources. Rwiggum (Talk/Contrib) 20:27, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Kansas Basketball

In response to your message about the table I created to list Kansas' record vs. its conference opponents, I am of the opinion that including the winning percentage just makes the table more cluttered than it needs to be and doesn't add to the information the table provides. Yes, obviously, having the winning percentage on there would make life a little bit easier on whoever comes along and wants to know the winning percentages of the respective series. I don't think it would kill anyone to calculate it themselves. As for the percentage for the Coaches, I don't have a problem with that because we regularly refer to a coaches' record in that manner. The Big 12 media guides to not list winning percentages for the respective conference series and I feel for this reason, as well as the reasons above, we can do without listing the winning percentage in that table.

As for the "KU" on each of the individual boxes... that is to indicate that Kansas leads each of those series.

Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball seasons

Hey, I was trying to correct the totals and at least one entry error on this page and it looks like you posted an update simultaneously with me. In my corrected totals for Phog Allen, I went with how the page was when I initially found it, in that the total for his 2nd tenure as head coach gave cumulative totals for his entire coaching career. I didn't include the 1 game coached by Karl Schlademan in 1919-1920 because my 100 years of KU basketball book doesn't either. I also have it that Howard Engleman was 5-5 in conference in 1946-1947 and not 5-4, but this could be in error since it's from another source.

Kmanblue (talk) 20:51, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I may not be correct but I beleive Engleman was 5-4, my logic here is that the official media guide states that Phog left the team after a loss to Missouri on January 7th, so that would be 0-1 for phog in conference play and 5-4 for engleman.
As far as the 1 game for schlademan, I have seen it noted both ways and i'm fine with either so feel free to change it if you like, but please change it on Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball#Coaches also if you do. Ryan2845 (talk) 21:18, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
I looked it up and agree with your 5-4, but none of the official totals I can find count that loss towards Phog Allen's total losses. So I guess I leave that one alone. I went back and added the 1 win under Schlademan to Allen's total which is in agreement with the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball#Coaches page.

Sunflower Showdown

Why did you switch the KU 08 and 09 seasons back to the Sunflower Showdown? It's the Governor's Cup in football, and the Sunflower Showdown in everything else.Topgun530 (talk) 19:01, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Well because I don't think that is true. I believe it is called the sunflower showdown in football as well, the trophy is the governor's cup, not the name of the game. It may be "the game for the governor's cup" but it is still the sunflower showdown series. Same as the KU/MU series is called the "Border War" not the "Indian War Drum Game" which is the name of the trophy.
A quick google shows both athletic departments also reference the game as the "Sunflower Showndown" kstatesports.comkuathletics.com

Wikiproject Electronics collaboration

Hi, I am writing to you because you have listed yourself as a member of the Electronics WikiProject. Sadly, this project is pretty dead, but I propose to resuscitate it with a collaboration. The idea is to have a concerted effort on improving one article per month, hopefully to GA or FA status and nominate the very best of them for the front page. I have prepared a page to control this process at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Collaboration (actually, I mostly shamelessly stole it from Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals where a collaboration of this sort was succesfully run). There you can make nominations for articles for collaboration or comment on the nominations of others.

If you want to take part you might like to place this template {{WikiProject Electronics Collaboration}} on your userpage which will give you a link to the current collaboration. If you are no longer interested in Wikiproject Electronics, please remove yourself from the members list, which is now at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Members

Season pages and schedules

Hey - I'm doing the Syracuse basketball page for the current season. I looked at the Kansas page (very nice job, by the way) and I noticed that there was a template already set up for season schedules. KU Official loss record

I suppose it is better to go with the the univeristy officially has. The different is probably the K-State game from 1980, when KU had to forfeit because of an ineligible player. KU officially counts that as a win, as does K-State. That might account for one of the losses. The college football warehouse probably counts that as a loss, when KU counts it as a win.Topgun530 (talk) 15:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Could be, probably that and the 1960 missouri game which was forfeited too. KU by policy just counts forfeits as a non-game rather than a loss or a win, which i believe is NCAA policy as well. KU probably does the same with the 1980 KSU game, just a non-game rather than a loss in the record books. Although, KU also forfeited a game against colorado in 1960 so you'd think the difference in loss totals would be 3 games instead of 2... Ryan2845 (talk) 15:39, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Would you mind helping w/ some formatting?

Hi - I have been working on beefing up the existing college basketball seasons and was wondering if you might be able to help me with a formatting problem. I have added statistical leaders to the exiting pages (see here for an example), but the formatting doesn't look as good on the 1999-00 page. It seems like the Infobox at the top is reducing the viewing area (note the line below "Regular season" doesn't extend all the way across the page). Can you help? Is it a real problem or just my browser? I have the conference winner table almost ready to drop in, but would prefer to be sure the formatting is straight before I add it. Thanks for any help you can offer. Rikster2 (talk) 14:20, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

The lines just extend as far to the right as the widest item on the page, so if you go ahead and add the conference winner table, the page formatting should stretch out to match that width. Good work by the way! Ryan2845 (talk) 15:52, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

what do you think of conference tournament dates on the NCAA bball page?

Hey - I saw somebody added conference tournament dates on the conference winners and tournaments table of the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season page. I think this info is a little unnnecsssary since you are can click on the rlevant tournament and get more info, but wanted to ask somebody else who's invested in these pages too. I just don't see this info as being that relevant if you look back at it, say, in 5 years - it isn't the limited critical info you'd want to see at a glance. My other two issues are a) I think it will crunch the table a little when the tournament winners are added and b) I don't feel like going back and adding this info to past seasons and I think they should be consistent year to year (nobody ever wants to add their great ideas to 5-6 different pages!). Am I crazy? I hate just reverting edits if it's just my opinion - seems a little jerky. Thanks for your inputs. Congrats on your Jayhawks clinching the Big XII - quite an coaching job by Self. Rikster2 (talk) 23:21, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I think I would agree with you that it shouldn't be on there when the tournaments are over. It's probably ok to leave it for now and then remove them after the season. Definitely not worth going back and adding them to the old season since it doesn't really add any valuable information to the table once the tourneys are over. Xavier Henry

I just created an article for Xavier Henry, it was abruptly and in my opinion prematurely erased. Could you help with resurecting it?Racingstripes (talk) 00:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm not real sure how to go about getting it back, but I think you can contact an admin to request a copy of the text. Then you'll have to add more sources before you create the article again. If you want, you could create the article in your userpages and give me a link and I'd be willing to work on it there also until it is ready to be added for real. user enigmaman feels that our sources for the Lance Stephenson article are not reliable. I'm thinking that ESPN is pretty reliable. I also made an article for Uconn standout Kemba Walker, I have a feeling the same user is not going to like that.Racingstripes (talk) 17:51, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Big 12 basketball

Based on your heavy editorial involvement in 2008–09 Baylor Bears men's basketball team, 2008–09 Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball team, 2008–09 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team and 2008–09 Missouri Tigers men's basketball team, I thought you might be interested in creating a 2008–09 Big 12 Conference men's basketball season article. I have created a 2008–09 Big Ten Conference men's basketball season and there is a 2008–09 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season both of which may serve as guides. I have recently convinced the Big East to begin 2008–09 Big East Conference men's basketball season. If you are interested and have any questions, drop me a note.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:36, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Cool, seems like a good idea, i created a blank article based on the Big 10 layout and we can go from there. Ryan2845 (talk) 17:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for getting this going. I just added the link to Template:2008–09 Big 12 men's basketball standings. Next year I hope all power conferences and mid majors at least create the rankings table throughout the season and get most of the page done by the end. Maybe within a few years we can get all the conferences going. I will be unwatching your page, but hit me up if you have any questions. Also, think about getting this up fairly quickly and nominating it at T:TDYK within five days. You might see it on the main page on the day of the championship game if you do?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:09, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:Kansas Jayhawks]]
[[Category:University of Kansas alumni]]

I've added at least one parent to the category. I invite you to check my work for accuracy and completeness.

2009–10 Big 12 Conference men's basketball season

Hi - Just wanted to check in and see if you were planning (or are open to) creating and maintaining a 2009–10 Big 12 Conference men's basketball season page as you did last year. I'd love to see if we can get these going for all D1 conferences and am trying to see what coverage we have. After we see who is willing to do what, I can pick up 2-3 conference pages (maybe A10, CUSA, etc). Seems like this stuff is easier to do early in the season vs. later on when a lot of updating is needed! Rikster2 (talk) 21:03, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I'm willing to work on the Big 12 article again. I'll probably wait until closer to the season before starting on it though. Ryan2845 (talk) 00:11, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good - and you're right, not much to report until at least media day. Take care. Rikster2 (talk) 00:18, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:KerryMeierSI2.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:KerryMeierSI2.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 04:17, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Cool, thanks! Ryan2845 (talk) 16:04, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Mangino: Whatever.

It's not worth arguing with a Kansas booster over whether a 500-pound coach is ridiculed for being 500 pounds. Never mind the documentation that Mangino is, in fact, ridiculed over his weight and it has led to questions about his personality and effectiveness.

If written in a wikipedia worthy manner, go for it. But links to message boards of peoples opinions are never going to make it on wikipedia, KU fan or not. Personally, I could care less if the page says he's fat, because he damn sure is, but the content you added was not up to wikipedia standards. Sorry. Ryan2845 (talk) 17:43, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
One of the problems with Wikipedia is that everyone's judge and jury on each other. I don't want to play this game on something as irrelevant as how fat Mark Mangino is and whether it's controversial. Dkendr (talk) 13:44, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
You can put that info on there, I already said that's fine. It's a well known fact that he is obese. But do it in a wikipedia worthy manner is all I ask. Citing message boards is not up to wikipedia standards, i'm sorry. Ryan2845 (talk) 14:20, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
The message board quote was to illustrate that Kansas opponents do in fact make light of Mangino's weight, not for any other point of fact. Dkendr (talk) 18:11, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Right, but you keep missing the point. Message boards are not allowed as references under wikipedia rules. It had nothing to do with the point you were trying to make, or the subject of the article. Try to use a message board as a reference anywhere on wikipedia and it will be removed. Ryan2845 (talk) 18:16, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Where, then, would you find usable evidence of a controversy which exists on the Internet, other than the actual controversy itself? Far from missing the point, I think you're slightly off on the concept of "evidence" and "reference." Dkendr (talk) 06:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Frankly, I don't know, but that's not my problem really. My issue was that wikipedia simply does not allow message boards to be used a "evidence" "reference" "source" or however else you want to word it. In other words, you simply aren't allowed to post a link to a message board AT ALL. It's not ME deciding that, its Wikipedia. I'm just enforcing the rules. Ryan2845 (talk) 14:16, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Ah, now we're getting somewhere. You are "enforcing" a rule in a case where it does not favor a living person that you admire. The issues of "evidence" and "subject authentication" don't matter, you just don't want to permit mention that occasionally Texas and Nebraska fans refer to Mark Mangino as "obese." The point being proven is that "people on the internet call Mark Mangino fat and make fun of his weight." The footnote is directly to a messageboard on which people have in fact called Mark Mangino fat. So... what should I do? Post a link to a newspaper article referencing the message boards secondhand, or the messageboards themselves? Think about whether the rule applies to the board providing reference to another subject, or to the board's very existence being referred. Dkendr (talk) 16:18, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
I have no admiration for Mangino. In fact, I hope he's fired soon. I personally make fun of him for being fat all the time. But it's not MY fault you can't find a reliable source which is REQUIRED by wikipedia. I even went so far as to add the section back after it was removed entirely and try to compromise. Take your frustration with wikipedia out on those who write the wiki rules, not me. If you don't want to follow or can't understand wikipedia rules, then you shouldn't be an editor, but it's not MY fault. If it wasn't me removing it, someone else will, I GUARANTEE you. Go ahead and add it back and find out for yourself, I won't touch it. I'm done discussing it, it's a simple rule, you'll find out how things work on here sooner or later. Big 12 WikiProject

Hi, I've noticed you've been involved in editing Big 12 related articles. I'm trying to gauge the interested in created a Big 12 WikiProject and wondered if you'd like to be involved. There are already pages for WikiProject Big Ten and WikiProject ACC. A Big 12 project would cover the schools themselves and anything to do with conference sports including: events, rivalries, teams, seasons, championships and lore. There is already quite a bit of activity here on Wikipedia regarding the Big 12, and I think a project could help coordinate and unify our efforts. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Big 12, if you are interested and add your name to the list. Grey Wanderer (talk) 23:43, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Can you help get the standings onto the 2009-10 NCAA page?

Hi Ryan- I was wondering if you might be able to help get the conference standings templates added to the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season page? I see someone added about 15 of the 30 conferences, but I created templates for all D1 conferences (except the independants). I have tried to update them, but get a message that seems to say you can't add that many templates. Do you know the secret? Thanks in advance! Rikster2 (talk) 16:58, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Never seen that before either. Guess wikipedia just doesn't allow that many templates to be included on one page. Maybe there should just be a separate article with all the conference standings templates on it? Then just include the major conferences on the main page with a link to the new article. Ryan2845 (talk) 18:59, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi!

Last March you copied the Football template to this template but left "football" throughout. Since then the template has only be edited once to reinforce "football" and to introduce a DEFAULTSORT conflict. I will resolve the conflict as that is the way I found the template. You may want to think about re-visiting the template to eliminate the irrelevancies and change "football" to "basketball" so that the template can be documented properly.

With all the work you have been doing around here the past year it is easy to understand how this was left uncompleted. JimCubb (talk) 19:11, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Kansas football coaches

How's the list coming? Do you have a target date for moving it to the mainspace? The Kansas list is one of only four Big 12 coaches lists that has not been created yet. Were getting very close to getting them all finished!—NMajdantalk 18:16, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Looks like a great start! I've moved it to article space and will make the refinements in preparation for FL. Feel free to continue helping if you wish!—NMajdantalk 00:29, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I think I'm all done with it. Due to limitations in the FLC process, I can't nominate it yet since I already have two going with the most recent not having any reviews yet. Which sucks since I have the Kansas, Baylor and Nebraska lists ready to go but I need to wait for the Texas A&M and Missouri lists to move along. I'll try to remember to let you know when I nominate it. At the very least, I'll update the Big 12 and College Football wikiprojects.—NMajdantalk 22:07, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

All Time NCAA wins site is ruined

I'm not sure who started letting people add wins through a certain date but it would take hours to now correct this page because of it. The part timers aren't coming bad and finishing the total (or updating winning percentage). This page REALLY needs to be protected from editing until each season is completed Censusdata (talk) 21:01, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Agree completely, if I had the powers to protect it I would. It was especially bad this year with the race to 2000 wins going on, so it was getting changed daily and I got tired of reverting it every day, so quit trying. But really it shouldn't be a big deal to update, just look at the history tab and update off of a revision from back in like October.Ryan2845 (talk) 21:11, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll go ahead and do the update by the way Ryan2845 (talk) 21:31, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for updating the page. If I could stand waiting for the official NCAA page to update it wouldn't be as annoying but I'd like to see the actual rankings the date after the season ends. Do you not think there's anyway to keep it even semi protected? Seems like most of the part timers were anons. Censusdata (talk) 19:49, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure it could be semi-protected, but you'd have to request that from an Administrator. I don't think it will be as bad next year now that the race to 2000 is over. Ryan2845 (talk) 20:13, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Current Big 12 men's basketball coach template

Hey - you're the resident Big 12 guru - I was looking at the Template:Big12BasketballCoach and noticed it was in divisional format. Does this make sense since the Big 12 doesn't use the divisions in basketball? Just checking. Rikster2 (talk) 21:07, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I think it's OK, technically the division lines still exist in basketball, they just aren't used for the overall standings. For example, North teams only play each South team once a year, but play each North team twice a year. Ryan2845 (talk) 13:12, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi Ryan. I know you are a long-time WP:CBB editor (definitely pre-date me) and there are a couple of debates going on at the Talk Page that I'd love to hear your thoughts on. We are at a point where many of us feel that we need to set some standards about Navboxes/templates/succession boxes and I'd love to hear from someone who has some history with the project. I think as a project we are at the point where we need to create a style guide and this could be the first step. Thanks in advance for your thought on this.
