Potential issue with copy editor Ankit Maity

Hey, I just wanted to let you know about this. The editor in question had similar concerns about them raised with regards to the GAN backlog drive here, but dropped out of that one. I don't think they quite understand the goal of the drives, and I wanted a drive coordinator to be aware of it. Thanks. —Torchiest talkedits 15:43, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

I have noted this discussion and agree we will have to monitor this user. While looking at the Drive page, I discovered that someone else misunderstood how to do the word count, and have dropped them a line. Conflicting dates

Question: When referencing an article, if two or more apparently equally reputable sources differ on the date of a key event, do you cite all of them, or do you make a judgement call? Regards --Peter S Strempel (talk) 04:57, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

We should try to get the date correct. Try to find more sources if you can. If not, either put a {{clarify}} tag next to it, or better still, put in a footnote to explain the situation so that readers are not misled. – SMasters (talk) 05:01, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Book article sfn citation

The Wikimedia help section on {{sfn}} does not appear to offer advice on how to reference a discrete chapter in a book (ie: Gould, Harry. "Foobar", in Harris, Duwayne ed. Making nonsense. London, Foobar Books, 2067, pp. 321-456.). I am concerned to accurately differentiate pages from the same chapter, but also pages from various different chapters by different authors in the same book to cite references for a description of some granularity.

Using the built-in cite tool, I get:

<ref name=REFNAME group=REFGROUP>{{cite book|last=Gould|first=Harry|title=Making nonsense|year=2067|publisher=Foobar Books|location=London|isbn=123456789|pages=321-456|url=http://example.com}}</ref>

I am assuming that 2067 is the year (typo?). Does this help? Anyway, this is the format that the cite tool uses. – SMasters (talk) 08:38, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
It does not address the reference to a chapter in a book. In other words, I'm citing Gould as one of a number of authors who are contributors in a collection/book of contributed chapters edited by yet another person. Your example makes it appear that the citation is to a book by Gould, not a chapter by him in an edited book. I have since experimented using crossover methods from 'encyclopedia' and 'book' examples in citation templates, which nevertheless forces me to use the 'chapter' category to list the title of the chapter, leaving no signifier for the chapter number, and which does not automatically identify the editor name as 'ed' when using the 'editor-first' and 'editor-last' categories. This will give me what I need (see Brezhnev draft bibliography for Hanson) but not what I want. If there is a better way, I would be grateful for a pointer to it.
