@Laser brain: Thank you. IT LIVES! I'm back now, for real. I'd been making infrequent edits with one of my alt. accounts that I use for controversial topics, typo fixing I can't resist, responding to stuff people e-mail me about directly when I'm otherwise on break, and for when I need to be a logged in user, like to create a redirect, but either don't want to attract "are you back?" attention or am not on equipment I trust (my regular account has some advanced bits, so the password needs to be more protected than average). But, still, that episode of being i-banned for someone else's bad behavior pissed me off enough that it cost this project about 98% of my normal input rate, from May through October. I haven't been so fed-up with WP since that era in the early 2010s when Sandstein and friends were after my head on a pike and I quit for a year.

But yesterday or the day before I was going through RfCs on random topics, and it felt good enough again that I've logged back in as "the real me". :-)

I wander back over, briefly, when I get e-mailed about something (like XfDs of stuff I created, or a pile up of WT:MOS stuff that needs some input), or when my OCD gets the better of me (I still read WP a lot, and have a hard time letting typos or mangled sentences stand). But I'm basically giving WP about 1/100th the time I used to. Admins doing inappropriate things like sanctioning someone for being harassed, and doing it without waiting for them to respond to accusations, and continuing to do it after a policy-based objection that shows that the admin action was faulty, has to have a cost. That cost in my case is WP losing almost all my labor. I could go through some kind of WP:DRAMA process, but a) they're all run by admins who will pretty much never contradict another admin's action unless the breach is stark raving nutty, and b) I don't come here for verbal combat or seeing if I can raise my blood pressure to stroke-inducing levels. It's a more effective protest, and a better option for myself, to go on strike. — AReaderOutThataway ^t/_c 16:19, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
