Recent unverifiable edit to Lobster[edit]

Hi Shickorbob. I reverted your recent edit to Lobster because I did not find any sources online that utilized the term "mermaid crab" for lobster. Article content must be verifiable, so if you would like to add information to an article that isn't already referenced by the sources in the article you can add sources.

If usage of "mermaid crab" does indeed exist but it is regional, it may be best placed in another section of the article (such as #Description) or further down the lead paragraphs, but not the first sentence. – Rhinopias (talk) 21:48, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Phytosterol content and sources[edit]

On my talk page, you said: "WP:SCIRS in a nutshell: “Appropriate sources for discussing the natural sciences include comprehensive reviews in independent, reliable published sources, such as recent peer reviewed articles in reputable scientific journals, statements and reports from reputable expert bodies, widely recognized standard textbooks written by experts in a field, or standard handbooks and reference guides.” The cited source's cited source was a publication of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, a reputable peer-reviewed scientific journal that has a Wikipedia article."

First, it would be better for the common user of phytosterol information in nuts and seeds if the original source was used, PMID 16302759, not WebMD's take on it. I couldn't find the full paper, so we're relying on abstract information and not seeing the methods or tabulated results, a practice discouraged for the encyclopedia. Second, the report is from 2005, which makes it questionable if subsequent analyses have the same result. Third, the most reliable source on phytosterol content in food sources is the USDA National Nutrient Database, with this result when a search yields the rank order of foods containing phytosterols per 100 g reference amount. However, this seems unwieldy for the general encyclopedia user. Fourth, you added the WebMD source and list of nuts or seeds to several articles, but for what purpose? For each of the article topics where your edit appeared, it would be better to place phytosterol content in the nutrition table, then just mention its content for that food. --Zefr (talk) 22:13, 1 May 2019 (UTC)×[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Hemp into Draft:Hemp seed. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 12:22, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When you edit here, you must follow the guidance below:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to an organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what a company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • If you write about a company, the notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:25, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. You are right that drafts are given some leeway, but our rules on spamming and copyright in particular still apply. For example IT IS THE BEST BRAND BECAUSE IT TASTES SO AWESOME is blatant spam even it had a reference. This isn't social media, you can't just write what you like; we need facts rather than your opinions. Please read the guidelines I posted above.
The point of speedy deletion is that it's used when an article is so non-compliant there is nothing to discuss, so there is no requirement to wait for a response. The notices are used by most users, who don't have admin rights, to flag up the problem article for an admin's attention. I am an admin, so I don't need to do that. I hope this clarifies, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:25, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Your articles other than those you mentioned that no longer exist are Draft:Handled floss and Draft:Remini (app) Fastily deleted Draft:Tilden Rodgers Park and Draft:Procreate (software). Nutrient crisis was deleted by an admin no longer active. I think other than mine they were abandoned drafts
Will you please read the guidance above? Your latest drafts have no sources of any kind, let alone independent third-party sources, no facts about the companies which appear to have no employees turnover or profits or anything else that shows notability. Just giving the companies a fact-free mention here is promotional. I've cleaned up to remove opinions and unsupported claims, but as it stands none of them will be accepted as article without RS sources and real facts. Please concentrate on one article at a time to produce something that has a chance of becoming an article, rather than a string of short unreferenced stubs that have no hope of acceptance Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:53, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Thanatonic nihilism has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This term is perhaps not a complete neologism ( See Kruger 2020, Anal sexuality and male subcultures online: The politics of self-deprecation in the deep vernacular web) , but this article is entirely based on WP:SYNTH and original research as far as I can tell. Raised issues on talk but article creator has not replied to ping.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
