Shawarma
Hi there! You sure about the Urdu name of Shawarma that you have provided. Firstly, you have written شووراما. I guess you meant شوارما. But even then, what if the real name is supposed to be شاورما but people just pronounce it wrong? --Wahj-asSaif (talk) 07:46, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I wanted to write شوارما but didn't notice the double و. Here in Pakistan, the pronunciation of Shawarma is same as in Arabic but شا is reduced to ش.--SMSLet's talk 08:04, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I know. Rather the difference in both pronunciations is not just the reduction of first alif to zabar in Urdu but also the conversion of zabar on و to an alif in Urdu.
- (Arabic شا-ور-ما) (Urdu ش-وار-ما) What I want to ask is are you sure that ش-وار-ما is the correct pronunciation in Urdu. Maybe it is one of the غلط العام, and it is supposed to have the same pronunciation as that of Arabic but everyone is just pronouncing it wrong? --Wahj-asSaif (talk) 05:46, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
