Vandalism patrolling tools[edit]

Greetings. I see from your post on the reference desk and from your edit history that you may be interested in becoming a vandalism patroller. You may be interested to know that several users have developed tools to help with these tasks and made them available for general use. Three that I can think of offhand are Twinkle, Popups and WP:Huggle. Some others may be found on the Wikipedia counter-vandalism tools category page.

Everyone has their own preferences, but personally when I was a fairly new editor, I found Twinkle to be a non-intrusive easy-to-use tool that adds a few options and menus to your window that make it easy to revert changes and to warn users using the standard templates. It also has menu options for requesting page protects, reporting persistent vandalism, and other several other administrative Activation is simple as described in the [[WP:Twinkle#Installation|]] section. You can either activate it by selecting the Twinkle option under the Gadgets tab of your user preferences page, or you can add a few javascript statements to your monobook.js file, which gives you the option of customizing your settings.

Popups gives you some more advanced capabilities by showing you changes and giving you options when you simply hover over a link. Huggle is a downloadable stand-alone application that has many advanced monitoring, rollback, and notification features. However, this product requires permission that is typically granted on request after you have established a significant edit history.
