Hey

Hey, I noticed that your new and like editing Eurovision articles. I'd suggest joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision. If you have any questions, I'm here. Grk1011 (talk) 02:43, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

FYR Macedonia

Just to let you know I have created Template:inescm to deal with the problem, and until I find the correct way to incorporate this into Template:inesc.

Examples:
{{inescm}} > {{country data {{{1}}}

| flaglink/core | variant = | size = | name = | altvar = | altlink = in the Eurovision Song Contest }}

{{inescm|y=2008}} > {{country data {{{1}}}

| flaglink/core | variant = | size = | name = | altvar = | altlink = in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 }} -- [[ axg ⁞⁞ talk ]] 10:30, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Yugoslavia, Serbia, Eurovision

Please do not edit-war over this article. There is a talk page for discussion purposes. I have just written an explanation there for you to read, which others may do so too. EuroSong talk 10:59, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

templates

fyi, the "country in eurovision" template adds every article that has the template to the category "country in the eurovision song contest" automatically so you dont need to add it yourself. Also, you dont need to pipe the link with the |2000 for example because they will be in order anyway. Grk1011 (talk) 16:17, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

We recently decided that if a country did not make it to the final, than we would leave that spot in the infobox blank as opposed to "N/A", ok? Grk1011 (talk) 17:23, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

categories

If a singer is in say "Greek eurovision song contest entrants" they should NOT be in "eurovision song contest entrants" also since the greek one is a subcategory of the other. Then the page will be in the same category twice. It's ok to respond. :) Grk1011 (talk) 16:37, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

PLEASE RESPOND BEFORE YOU MAKE TOO MUCH OF A MESS FOR ME!! Grk1011 (talk) 16:39, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I looked back at the category and we try to avoid a page being double categoried (page in the main cat and a sub cat). But looking back at the entrants, i think i like that better. The "country in eurovision song contest" AUTOMATICALLY adds the cat "Country in the eurovision song contest" and in my opinion, piping the year so it sorts by year doesnt look as good. And sorry, but you kept going! lol. Grk1011 (talk) 16:45, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
No, you're doing a great job, just take what i said into consideration. Do you have msn messenger or aim? Grk1011 (talk) 16:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I feel like i scared you off, you can keep going :) Grk1011 (talk) 17:18, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Didn't you add all of those participants to those categories a few weeks ago? Grk1011 (talk) 01:21, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

References

Hey, try to remember to add references to articles when you add information. Like on Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, you need to show where you got the date from. Its pretty easy to find an article on Oikotimes or ESCToday so if you want to look at Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 you can see how the refs are done (Copy paste and put right info in). Grk1011 (talk) 15:01, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello, you appear to have listed yourself as a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision. A discussion is currently ongoing on the talk page on reform of this projects goals and organisation. Proposals have been made on the future covering and scope of WikiProjects relating to the Eurovision Dance Contest, Eurovision Song Contest, and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. These proposals include possibly re-naming WikiProject Eurovision to WikiProject Eurovision Song Contest and starting a new project called WikiProject Eurovision Dance Contest. As a member of this project, you may wish to give your input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision. Thank you. Camaron | Chris (talk) 08:40, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Template

Hey, can you copy the template from here: {{ESC National Year}}. It has the correct formatting. Thanks, Grk1011 (talk) 20:16, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup Tags

You need to stop removing maintenance tags (unreferenced, citations needed, wikify) unless you are addressing them. Example: [1] I didn't see any references added... Grk1011 (talk) 13:44, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

National Finals

We were thinking about merging all separate national final pages into the country in the eurovision song contest year pages under the national final category. For example putting Festivali I Këngës 43 into the national final section of Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. What is your opinion?Grk1011 (talk) 21:56, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Do you have no opinion? Why are you so reluctant to talk to other people? Grk1011 (talk) 22:44, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Yea, that's fine. My problem is that I don't want to see pages with just a link to the final's instead of actually describing it. There should be a few paragraphs taken from the contest's page, but maybe the semi-final charts and such can stay there and just say so and so won the semi and went on to the final with a table of only the finalists in the national final section. They should be like Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 which was nominated for GA status. As far as I know, that is our best example. Grk1011 (talk) 22:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Song titles

Hey, if you ever see a song like "Reflection (Eurovision song)" use the move tag to move it to song name (song) or if that is taken song name (artist song). Eurovision should never be there. Grk1011 (talk) 13:05, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Award

I didn't even realize that you already got one today lol. I logged on to check my watchlist and was overwhelmed :) Grk1011 (talk) 01:40, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Isn't it the middle of the night for you over in europe? Grk1011 (talk) 02:07, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Lol, its 10:15 pm here, its just strange for me to be editing with someone else besides greekboy since most eurovision editors live in europe and are fast asleep. Grk1011 (talk) 02:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Yugoslavia

A user reverted my redirect of the pages, don't do anything drastic to the yugoslavia page. I asked for a second opinion by administrators. Grk1011 (talk) 17:25, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

wow, you are quick, i was just about to do that lol. You were probably watching me and Imbris go back and forth accomplishing nothing haha. Grk1011 (talk) 23:32, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
I took care of it. Now it goes to the Serbia and Montenegro page, shows the right flag, and says Yugoslavia. Grk1011 (talk) 23:39, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Just when you thought it was over, its not. Everything is reverted pending an official discussion with more than two people. Respond with your views at Talk:Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the Eurovision Song Contest#Merger proposal. Grk1011 (talk) 21:53, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

I think that Sims2aholic8 has not read the debate and the contradiction in terms of all of the sources that Greekboy and Grk1011 (who think like they ought to be a one person).
"Yugoslavia was formally dissolved in 1992 (de facto dissolved in 1991 with no leaders representing it). The country comprised the area of the present-day independent states of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia."
That appearance in 1992 under the name Yugoslavia was not for the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia but for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro). Why do you think Serbia and Montenegro first appeared in 2004? Because they were under United Nations and European Union sanctions. That appearance in 1992 was under the plain flag of navy blue, white, bright red flag of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. IT was most certainly not under the flag of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which has the same flag colors but with the red five pointed star in the middle.
This should end, but not with the result that Greekboy and Grk1011 want.
Imbris (talk) 01:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry that you were sucked into this lol. Grk1011 (talk) 02:28, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Greekboy changed your comment to a support vote

See [2]. Do you agree with his attempt to vote instead of you. -- Imbris (talk) 01:53, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

I opened up a mediation case: Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2008-08-24 Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the Eurovision Song Contest. Grk1011 (talk) 16:03, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Leichtenstein

Can we just wait until they actually join. There's not point in speculating that they can. It says that they can in the unsuccessful attempts section (the former redirect). Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 21:10, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Esp since I just fixed that section to not link to the article lol. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 21:15, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

What should we do? I was thinking to put all the info on Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest since it may be misleading since Estonia never actually participated in the 1993 contest. (respond here) Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 23:44, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't know. There's the Kvalifikacija za Millstreet page. Maybe we could put the info there instead. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 00:08, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I just fixed the section for that in ESC 1993, but I don't think that the national selection for Estonia matters there, you know? It would only be relevant in the Estonia article. I'll think about it some more. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 00:11, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix

Good job on the history, though a lot of that should be on Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest instead. You also need to add sources and keep in mind that Denmark is not plural: "Denmark was" not "Denmark were". If you don't know the formatting for the refs I can put them in for you, I'll also do some research when I get home from work. (respond here from now on to all my questions/comments) Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:21, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I'll remember that from now on. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 16:27, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

You really don't have windows live or aim? It would be so much easier if we could all talk to you rather than post here all the time. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 20:58, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I could get it, if you guys want. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 21:06, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Me and Greekboy have AOL Instant Messenger which we are always on, but all of us (Camaron, Chwech) have Windows Live (me and greekboy aren't always on). But it would be nice if you get one or both. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 21:09, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Did you make one yet? You should also make a category for "Melodi Grand Prix entrants" to organize the "Melodi Grand Prix" cat. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 21:12, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Stop linking the countries that are bold per wp:mos. I know we used to, but I've been told not to. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 11:54, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't know. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 12:09, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey, can you take a look at User:Grk1011/Drafts. I think its ready to go into use, but what do you think? Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 15:18, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

It looks really good. I think it's ready to go up as well. Well done. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 15:23, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Good then, and one more question. I'm experimenting with a new song in esc template that will automatically change all the ones in use from {{Infobox ESC entry}} to {{Infobox ESC entry (test template)}}. Its basically more organized and will look better when combined with the singles infobox. Anything wrong with it that you can see? Color, fields? Here's some examples of new and old: User_talk:Grk1011/To_Do_List#Infobox ESC entry. Also, make something so we can talk easier! Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 15:31, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I prefer the new one you've made. However, I don't really like the colour. I like the colour that's on the country infobox, the light blue. I keep forgetting to get Windows Live, but I'll get it now. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 15:39, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, i tried the other blue, here, but i think greekboy was concerned that it would too much like {{Infobox Album}}, the color before was from {{ESC National Year}}. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 15:49, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Maybe you're right. It does look a bit similar. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 15:54, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Just to let you know, in the esc entry infobox after the flag, the song title should have " " around it. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:31, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. I've got Live Messenger, finally, at musicalmichael8m@hotmail.com. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 17:35, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I'm at work now, but I'll add you when I get home. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 17:42, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Great! Sims2aholic8 (talk) 17:56, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
It defeats the purpose if you are never logged in lol. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 16:42, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

link

Just to let you know, the |first and |last field in the source ref is also right as is the |author field. So there was no real need to fix it like you did at [3]. :p BTW, this is a great ref tool that I use. reftool It is available under "my preferences" and then "gadgets". Greekboy (talk) 18:18, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

But thanks for fixing my other mistake with the title and URL. woops. lol Greekboy (talk) 18:21, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Not Crazy After All

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Not Crazy After All, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. tomasz. 12:00, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Did you read the deletion template's reason? Single by artist who failed to qualify for Eurovision Song Contest behind a puppet turkey. hahahahaha. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 12:15, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

List of top ranking countries

Hi there. I've just reverted your edits as they miss the point of the article. Rather than by number of wins, the list is about overall performance. Ireland has only ranked in the top two 11 times, compared to the UK's 20. Statistically they are the top performing country, with Ireland in 3rd. A table of winners is already available here: Eurovision Song Contest winners#By country. --Tuzapicabit (talk) 13:03, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

I went ahead and corrected the article again...while she is known by Carola today, she entered the 1983 contest and was billed by her whole name, Carola Häggkvist. It was the other times she appeared at Eurovision that she dropped her last name. Mike H. Fierce! 03:10, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

I copy-edited the beginning of the article stopping before the songs. Try to source the descriptions of them, you got them somewhere. Also, I have a better idea for the results, see Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. We should have the results written out instead of just showing a results table. You don't need the source for the songwriters in the table if you have them sourced in each song's description. I think that's all so far. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 00:27, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Put refs at the end of sentences too. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 19:48, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean? Sims2aholic8 (Michael) (talk) 19:50, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

I have started a Wikipedia:Request for comment on this topic at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on ESCKaz reliability. This discussion originates from questions on the reliability of the ESCKaz website and if it should be used in Eurovision articles on Wikipedia. It has now being extended to fully review all sources used in articles covered by WikiProject Eurovision, including ESCToday and Oikotimes. This is a very important issue to the project as sourcing is a key part of articles, and consensus needs to be reached on which sources should be used when, where and how. This discussion however has so far lacked a wide range of editor participation, and as you have listed yourself as a member of WikiProject Eurovision I invite you to add your thoughts. In particular more input is needed from editors which have a high level of experience with relevant guidelines/policies such as Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability, and who have up until now stayed outside this debate, though all contributions are welcome. Thank you. Camaron | Chris (talk) 11:07, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
