Casualty Cast

We currently have an issue on all Casualty pages. A user called Alex 12 has removed all specific casting episodes, for example, he has removed the fact that Sam Nicholls departed in episode 2 and so on. I think the page looks really poor without these. I have tried reversing his edits once, but he has done it again. Bowyer12 (talk) 09:02, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Bowyer12, episode counts and distinguishing is distinctly not allowed per MOS:TVCAST: The cast listing should not contain an episode count, e.g. (6 episodes) or (episodes 1–6), to indicate the number of episodes in which the actor or character appeared. Also, make sure that you are aware of WP:CANVAS. -- /Alex/21 09:23, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
I believe User:Bowyer12 was not canvassing. There is no active discussion about about the issue to influence others. You removed them quoting MOS:TVCAST, which is okay. The articles do seem to attract active editors, so creating a discussion first may have been less controversial.Rain the 1 09:42, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Talk:Casualty (series 33)#Guest episode counts -- /Alex/21 10:38, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
That is hardly a discussion and it went unnoticed for four days. The editor did not try to involve multiple editors via talk pages.Rain the 1 16:39, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

I understand that according to that article it should not be allowed. However, my argument is that Casualty fans as well as those who browse the pages can find easy exactly when characters entered and left the series in a simple format. Also if it is not allowed then why has it been that way for over five year? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowyer12 (talkcontribs)

Some articles manage to avoid detection. They have now been detected. It's not "that article", it's that Manual of Style that all television series articles abide by. Why are these allowed to deviate from it? Wikipedia is not a fansite to list all sorts of trivia. And what of your vandalism to the Manual of Style, do you find that acceptable? -- /Alex/21 10:40, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
@Bowyer12: - You should not take it upon yourself to delete part of the MOS and threaten to engage in an edit war. User:Alex 21 is just trying to explain why he removed the episode numbers.Rain the 1 16:47, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Wow, I don't think my talk page has ever been so busy! Anyway, Bowyer12, it would appear that this is the manual of style, of which has to be adhered to. I think the best plan from here would to ensure that all the 'comings and goings' of the characters are clearly listed in the overview section to make it clear. Should you feel strongly enough to want to change this, I would recommend sparking the discussion at the MOS talk page. Also, as Raintheone has pointed out, you should not vandalise the MOS. In response to Alex 21, I understand the change. Soaper1234 - talk 17:19, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Ok I think if we make sure that the overview section is clearly detailed then perhaps I can come around to the idea. The problem I had was that this was just changed without even a discussion. I stand by what I said that it is much clearer to have the episodes by the characters names, but if they want different then fair enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowyer12 (talkcontribs) 18:14, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

I will not be editing pages again on Wikipedia. I am a fan of Casualty and I thought that by including those numbers it would be useful for the viewers. I will just read the pages now. This will be my last edit on Wikipedia; it was fun and out of all of you I like Soaper1234, we have had some good discussions about improving the Casualty pages :). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowyer12 (talkcontribs) 18:19, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you Bowyer12, although I hope you don't choose to leave Wikipedia. Soaper1234 - talk 12:42, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Slater family (EastEnders)

On 29 January 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Slater family (EastEnders), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the BBC head of drama stated that the Slater family in EastEnders was created to address a deficit of "solid families" in the soap? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Slater family (EastEnders). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Slater family (EastEnders)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Amakuru (talk) 00:01, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Other characters

I'll fill in the circumstances section when I get around to it. I fell behind, and am trying to catch up while balancing personal life issues. I'd like to give feedback on the table for 2019. I think it works, but personally I really don't like bold text, and I also feel that the amount of episodes a character has been in should be removed, but other than it's fine. Yoshi876 (talk) 21:17, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

Thank you Yoshi876. I've thought about trialling a new layout for a while and thought I could do it with the new 2019 list. I'm glad you've let me know what you think. I happy for the bold names to go, but I think the number of episodes is quite helpful. For example, to a reader, saying 7-11 Jan for Mrs Maloney, Miss Harrington, the Judge and David would imply that all four characters appeared in all five episodes, when in actual fact, David appeared in two episodes on 7 Jan and 11 Jan, and the other three appeared in all five episodes. By adding the number of episodes, it tells the reader how many episodes the character was in. That's a bit long-winded, but does that make sense? Soaper1234 - talk 11:35, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
I understand, and seeing your reasoning for the amount of episodes makes perfect sense, and so I'm happy for that to stay in :) Yoshi876 (talk) 16:58, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm glad. And just a thank you for your continued work on the Hollyoaks lists - it doesn't go unnoticed Soaper1234 - talk 17:18, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

DYK for One (Casualty)

On 7 February 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article One (Casualty), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. I thought I'd reply here, rather than at the template as this makes more sense, and I didn't want to clutter the template with chat. I'm well, and thanks for the review! Characters of Casualty

Hey! I just saw your expansion to Rosa Cadenas and I was wondering if you'd be able to expand Gemma Dean, Ciaran Coulson and Jan Jenning? You're great at summarising plots and I created them as small paragraphs so they'd have a link for the list of characters. Thank you! – DarkGlow (talk) 13:21, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

@DarkGlow: Hi, thank you. I'm hoping to expand the others a bit more and find some more sources, although I'm not sure how much is out there for Gem. Ciaran (and Archie and Will) shouldn't be an issue, but I think Jan is fine for now. Soaper1234 - talk 13:28, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Hey, would you be able to add the episode summary for the finale of series 33? Bianca, Whitney, Liam, Tiffany and Morgan

Hey, I'm going to get back into editing wikipedia soon, but I saw your edit summary about Whitney, Bianca, Liam, Tiffany and Morgan. Ages ago, it was decided that Bianca and Whitney were suited to being listed as guardian/ward as Bianca was the one responsible for Whitney legally (like after the abuse by Tony came to light, Bianca was the one consulted by professionals like police and not her biological mother, Debra). In the real world, guardianship is slap bang between fostering and adoption and on websites, it does come under fostering, so Liam, Tiffany and Morgan can be included as her foster siblings. Grangehilllover (talk) 21:36, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply Grangehilllover. Thank you for clearing up the confusion, although I still don't think the children should be included as "foster" siblings. While I cannot think of one, there should be a more appropriate term, or failing that, they shouldn't be included at all as all relevant information can be read through Bianca's article. EastEnders

Digital Spy has reported that last night's episode of EastEnders was the 6000th episode. However, I was certain that it aired last Thursday, as I don't understand where the figures could have gone wrong, even by such a small number. If this is true, that means that episode numbers reported on the lists of characters by year of introduction are most likely wrong. –DarkGlow (talk) 07:50, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

@AnemoneProjectors: Thought I'd include you in this too. – DarkGlow (talk) 13:30, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
@DarkGlow: Episode 6000 was broadcast on 3 October 2019. The first and last episode numbers for characters should be correct unless people have messed them up since I last checked. ....... I just checked the 2019 characters page and indeed some are wrong. Sheree's first episode is 5965. Shyanna's is 5978. Ash's is 5980. Leo's is 5983. Wanda apppears from 5994 to 5997. So someone has messed up somewhere. Everything before then looks accurate to me. 2020 television season categories

As should be obvious from the text in {{Year nationality television seasons category}}, the categories are for "television seasons that have aired at least one episode in the year 2020". As it is still 2019 no episodes can have aired in 2020 and therefore no articles fit the inclusion criteria. In the case of The Voice UK (series 9), which does not premiere until 4 January 2020, that article will not fit the category inclusion criteria until after the first episode has aired on 4 January 2020 and therfore should not be added to the category until then. --AussieLegend () 15:20, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
