Ged UK, Sounds good. For my own edification, to you mind giving me a quick rundown of the circumstances that would lead to that being placed on someones user page if they're only suspected. Like does being suspected of being a sock come with any sort of ramifications? That is, does being a suspected sock come with any sort of restrictions or things I should be on the look out for? Hi Surfboy, Thank you for looking at my entry so quickly. I will have a look at the links you gave me and work on it further.

I'm a little confused about my sandbox being deleted - I thought that was where I needed to work on articles? Does this mean then that Catherine Downes/sandbox is for articles about Catherine Downes and Maciek Hrybowicz/sandbox for articles about Maciek? Sorry I am probably asking very basic questions but I don't fully understand the process and don't want to get blacklisted. Maciek is my husband and has written, reordered, produced a number of albums - some which go back to punk music days and are quite interesting historically (from a music perspective) but hard to find references for as details kept were scant. In terms of his website, the copy was written by me (but obviously you don't know that!)

I will re read the links you sent through and take more time on developing the entry.

You recently deleted Draft:Julien Solomita at AFC citing lack of sigcov. According to WP:SIGCOV, the suject "does not need to be the main topic of the source material". I think that this is the case with several of the list style articles I've cited. ie.

I think that there is more than trivial coverage within these articles. Even if it was not, Solomita is the main subject of this article in Inked Magazine https://www.inkedmag.com/original-news/juliensolomita and co-main subject of this Elite Daily article https://www.elitedaily.com/travel/take-last-minute-trip-summers-according-2-travel-vloggers/2031088. All of these links were cited in the article.

The sources are not self-published and are independent of Solomita. I don't think it's fair to say that this article is using any sort of inherited fame as Solomita has over 1 million subscribers in his own right (as cited in a reliable independent source). And has received the aforementioned coverage.

Though subscription count does not guarantee notability, it is an indicator that a subject likely meets the criteria as it indicates meeting criteria 2 of WP:ENT. I'd also argue that Solomita meets criteria 1 of WP:ENT due to his involvement in the podcast, his own channel, Mourey's channel, last-minute trips, and Twitch. And that he meets criteria 3 of WP:ENT due to reasons cited in the InkedMag feature.

Though I realize meeting WP:ENT isn't on its own sufficient, I don't understand why the article doesn't have the coverage required for notability. Could you please clarify why these sources do not constitute WP:SIGCOV. Thanks. Samsmachado (talk) 03:54, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello there. Nothing serious, but just quick note on moves like Ballantine, Alberta2. It's always best to place the G6 tag at Ballantine, Alberta without first moving it to a dummy name (i.e. 2). Larry Monroe Forever Bridge

Sulfurboy, thank you for reviewing the article Larry Monroe Forever Bridge so quickly. I noticed that after it was placed in the "open" Wikipedia that all of my sandbox edits from when I first created a sandbox page 7 years ago appear in the page's edit history of Larry Monroe Forever Bridge. I only started working on this page in my sandbox on 30 April 2020. Is this normal? I did not put edit summaries on my sandbox edits. BuffaloBob, So what happened is you created an article in your sandbox and submitted it to AfC and when it was transferred to draftspace and then mainspace, it pulled over the entire history of that page. AfC articles should be created in draft space for example Draft:example or if you want to use the sandbox you need to use forward slash and title of your article to keep it separate from your regular sandbox like User:Sulfurboy/sandbox/examplepage. Is there any info in the history that was pulled over that you're worried about being seen such as private information or anything that would be a copyright violation? Hi, This is my first time working on a wiki page. So I did not quite understand why my article was rejected. I checked the guidelines once more and I think he meets guideline 3:

Has won a national or continental championship or women's championship.

According to this, A player who has won a national or continental championship is eligible for a wikipedia page. The person in question here has won a National Open 12 times. Since the term national championship does not signify the type of tournament, I think this qualifies as a candidate. Please excuse me if I have got this wrong. Hi, India does not only have National Championships. It has National Opens which has any player from inside the country participating in it. Since you don't specifically state in the rules which National Championship the player has to have won, I think this case qualifies as one.

Also, this profile has a lot more qualification than some other chess related ones - for example Murugan Thiruchelvam is just a 2275 rated player with no title, but his listing exists....

That's what the chess project (who set those notability guidelines) has listed as the national championship, and thus what is followed for the guideline. In chess the IM title is almost as good as a GM title. Please check all this and let me know. Sulfurboy, My intention on bringing these pages up was not to propose them for deletion - it is to show you how significant the achievements of the player I wish to create a page on, are. Here is another link which shows a win of gold in a National Championship - B S, Shivananda. "UKCA-United Karnataka Chess Association". www.karnatakachess.com. There is an entry of the said person winning gold in national team championship 2017. Since the regulations do not, and I repeat, do not specify the type of tournament, this should qualify as a page. I request you to reconsider your decision. I will add a reference to this to make my page more authentic.

That's not what the project considers to be India's National Championship. I've already pointed out what they do consider it to be. A team championship also would not qualify you to have a page. Here are some other stranger facts for you: There is a listing of Indian GMs and IMs on a page. There there are two unknown entities with no official FIDE ID being listed as GMs. When such blatent abuse of the rules is allowed why not allow the listing of a genuine page? Draft:Merger of Virgin Media and O2 UK

I drafted an article about the planned merger between two large telecommunication companies in the UK. The submission was declined as it was deemed as not having "significant coverage". You to implement the info into the applicable company pages. Isn't it silly having the same exact info in two articles? If someone updates one company page to have new info, they might not update the other one too. I'm new to editing, but I asked on the en help IRC and they said mergers usually have their own separate article where they go a lot more in-depth about the merger, as well as having a brief summary with the main article template on each company page.

Could you explain the reasoning behind your decision, so I can either improve the article or learn?

Davwheat, Articles about mergers need to show sustained coverage and some level of notability. Please note that notability doesn't mean coverage in news, see WP:NOTNEWS. All mergers will get coverage in the news and is considered WP:ROUTINE. To establish notability, there needs to be sustained coverage of the subject and there must be some sort of lasting notability (other than just the restructuring of companies). A good example is the recently created Merger of Sprint Corporation and T-Mobile US. In this article, we see sustained coverage over a period of years before an article was created. There is also lasting notability, as legal decisions surrounding the merger will have lasting notability as they will affect future mergers. At the very least, this article is WP:TOOSOON and if it were to go to AfD, it very likely would be blanked and redirected to the applicable company pages. Sulfurboy (talk) 14:27, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

This appears to me to be overly deletionist. It meets WP:GNG, is a merger between two very large companies, already has controversy about it, and there is a lot of coverage. Simply all of some category of event gaining coverage in the news is not necessarily WP:ROUTINE; all assassinations of public officials will also get coverage in the news, as will all epidemics, and anything else that pertains to the public interest. And yes, being a current event, most of the available sources are news. That is not what WP:NOTNEWS refers to; rather, NOTNEWS means that Wikipedia is not a newspaper. Vermont, Not sure why you are saying this is deletionist. This isn't a deletion review. The article wasn't rejected or nominated for deletion in anyway. You're introducing a lot of red herrings here, the implications surrounding epidemics and assassinations have inherent sustained notability as there are lasting effects. However, this is an article about a merger that's barely a week old. We do not even have confirmation that this merger will go through. There's very real WP:CRYSTAL and WP:TOOSOON implications here. This article very likely would be redirected or merged in its current form at an AfD and since our standard is "likely to pass an AfD" this was declined. The user is welcome to resubmit as they please and I'll abstain from review as I typically don't review an article more than three times in a row, however the result will likely be the same. I was using deletionist in reference to the position taken, not exactly that it's about an article being considered for deletion. I don't believe any of what I wrote was a red herring; my comment directly responded to the policies/guidelines you quoted. With regard to WP:CRYSTAL, provided everything is properly sourced from reliable sources, which it is at the moment, that isn't much of an issue. With regard to confirmation, most sources available affirm that it is currently happening, and is not simply a proposed merger in the works of happening some point in the late future, like with the long history of the Sprint/T-Mobile merger. Vermont, I don't think anyone who regularly see my reviews would say I have a deletionist stance, in fact I'm regularly criticized for being the opposite. In terms of the article, this has had zero regulatory approval. The title of the article is inherently crystal as we don't even have confirmation of the merger. If this were accepted are we to rename the article to " Failed Merger of Virgin Media and O2 UK" when the merger falls through? Can you show me examples of wiki pages we have for failed mergers? I would argue that, were it to be prohibited by the government, the current title is still acceptable. At the moment, there is confirmation of the merger by multiple secondary reliable sources; if it is eventually prevented by regulators, it is simply a development that can be added to the article. For example, we don't refuse to make pages on future sporting events lest they be canceled by a pandemic or other unforseen circumstance; they are planned, and if they are prevented, the pages are updated as such. There are also articles about mergers that were created long before the merger was completed, such as this one. However, unfortunately it doesn't appear we have any specific guidelines on topics like this. Should we make a section at one of the various noticeboards to seek community input? For this case, ultimately the easiest thing is going to be to allow the page creator to resubmit when they feel ready and allow for another reviewer to take a look at it. Vermont + Sulfurboy I think it's probably best to keep the article ready and continuously update it. As it stands, the merger isn't confirmed to be agreed, they confirmed they were in talks. Unfortunately I'm a bit confused. In your review you cited that the article didn't meet the guidelines for N:PROF -- but I believe the subject explicitly meets multiple criteria.

N:PROF states that either of the following constitute sufficient notability:

2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.

3. The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

The subject of this article both (1) has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science - which I believe satisfies N:PROF criterion 3, and (2) has received a medal from NASA sufficiently prestigious as to be authorized as military decoration, which I believe satisfies N:PROF criterion 2.

Draft:Dracula (color scheme)

Hello,

I'd like to follow-up on the Draft:Dracula (color scheme) submission. I noticed that you rejected it because it's part of a top ten list. However, after reading WP:SIGCOV again, I noticed it says "Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.". In any case, I started looking for other resources and I found this publication from 2018, it's in Russian but WP:SIGCOV says "Sources do not have to be available online or written in English". So do you think that would resolve the problem?

in relation to "Philam"

I wrote an article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Philam) about a barangay in Quezon City, Philippines (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barangays_of_Quezon_City). A barangay is a recognized political government entity in the Philippines (a component of city, pretty much like a boroughs in NYC). I was writing an article in contribution to the listed barangays of Quezon City. I wrote an article for Philam, a barangay where I also live. As prescribed by your wikipedia standards (and academic standards), I wrote the article with attached sources from recognized/credible articles from journals and renown newspaper/magazine outlets from the Philippines. Comparatively speaking, the article I wrote had more credible sources than most of the existing articles on other barangays in the Philippines. From my own reading, the article I wrote had more attached citations than the wiki article for Barangay Forbes Park in Makati (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_Park,_Makati). Forbes Park, alongside Philam, are recognized developments that revolutionized "elitist" urban planning in the country. It was even studied in the internationally known journal article, the Japan Architectural Review (it was cited in the wiki article as well).

If you'll go to local Philippine libraries in the University of Santo Tomas and the Ateneo de Manila University, unpublished studies and theses (one of which was cited in the articled) probed into the history of Philam as a pioneering (albeit decaying) gated community in the Philippines. The article I wrote is a "simplified" version of these studies, without necessarily delving into details.

I do not understand why it was given the warning for "promotional advertisement." Can you please provide specifics so that I might be able to provide adjustments on the article.

I represent Laura and I'm struggling to see why you have rejected this article - She is a national broadcaster and pretty much a household name in the UK. I have cited several very relevant reference sources - literally the largest UK newspapers and news sources.

I would really appreciate it if you could approve the page - I have looked at similar female sports broadcaster's pages and their reference sources pale in significance.

I have revised it adding more secondary sources and basing the text more heavily in their commentary, though I am not sure that this has made the tone of the article any more neutral as most of them are expressing an opinion. I wanted to be clear that the Concordat that is the subject of the article is a document that organisations sign up to, it is not an organisation itself. I hope this is more evident in the new draft.

Assistance with understanding how to improve the quality of references

I would like your help in understanding and consequently improving the quality of the sources used in the above article, as per your feedback. There are, as I type, 18 different citations ranging from article links in main stream newspaper and other media here in Thailand to obviously smaller but also known websites. Would you able to tell me which sources require improving and guide me as to how start doing this please.

I have read through the general Wikipedia pages in referencing approaches but I was unable to find the answers that I was after. I understand that you time is valuable but I would really appreciate your help.

I added a number of references and received a positive feedback that the subject would have enough merit to exists, being that Portal one of the top 20 most clicked website globally. The page already exists in another language (Indonesian Wikipedia) since 2007. Supporting sources have been added, linked to published Books. (by talk reader) @BristolAlex: Wikis, in a general sense, are governed by the consensus of their aggregate. German-language Wikipedia observes the rules according to their users. English-language Wikipedia, accordingly, operates by the rules of our aggregate. There are no universal notability rules across Wikimedia projects. Further, that the article about Noah Fischer is online on one wiki does not mean that the article should continue to exist. • As regards two recently declined AfC submissions for Draft: Aaron D. Lewis and Draft: Quintessa Swindell by you, I think the former has received about 3-5 declines, so I am may be giving up as subject may not meet WP: GNG. However, I want to ask, for Swindell, do they meet WP:GNG. Actually, I mean to ask that is the subject somewhat a possibility for a Wikipedia page, but I haven't been able to prove that they meet WP: GNG and/or article has not been well cited. In any case, please offer your candid advice for both articles.

• Also do offer your thoughts on this draft, which I haven't resubmitted since it's first decline. What needs to be done, or is this also impossible?.

• Finally, this draft was not intended to be a draft, I intended to publish it into mainspace, but apparently there is already a page with the exact title, so I couldn't. The said page (in mainspace) is actually only a redirect created in 2018 to Walter Kwok (Geoffrey's father), I think Geoffrey Kwok, who is now the Director at Asia's largest Poperty Development congulmerate, may now meet WP: GNG , and may no longer be a redirect to his father's page. offer your advice, I am really learning these things.

• In case my request consumes much of your time, I apologize. I really appreciate your efforts too. Thank you!

TheEpistle, It's always best to just resubmit as long as you've made good faith efforts to improve the article. I typically do not respond to direct requests to re-review articles as doing so would become overwhelming quite quickly. I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt here since you're not a WP:SPA editor (which 95% of the people who come here are).

I've never examined the Lewis article so I won't do so at this time either. The Swindell page looks to be about someone who has had only one major role so it might be too soon for them to pass WP:NACTOR. I'm not going to judge if they could potentially pass WP:GNG. The onus is on the submitter to prove it, not for the reviewer to suss it out.

For the company page it would likely be a decline again at this time. WP:NCORP is probably the hardest notability guideline to pass. We need to see WP:SIGCOV in multiple, reliable sources. This does not include press releases, trade magazines or sources that have a limited scope of audience. It also does not include WP:ROUTINE or WP:NOTNEWS matters such as hirings/firings, mergers/acquisitions, funding/investments, etc.

:If a redirect is blocking a page, you can request WP:G6. However, I can tell you an admin will probably decline it and request that it first be approved by AfC since there's an in place draft. Your best bet is probably just to submit it for review. Most reviewers have page mover rights to be able to publish over the redirect and even if they don't, admins will typically always approve G6 with our nod of approval. How can I make this work?

Ahkennedy10, Hi, please see WP:CITE, I believe you would cite it just the same as a newspaper article. Having a online link to a source is not required (although helpful). Also, for technical questions like this, you're better off visiting the WP:TEAHOUSE. Manderson619, It's looking a lot better. I would trim if not outright do away with the noteworthy media section. There's nothing particularly notable about a professional driver making media appearances, having a social media presence or appearing in advertisements. It would almost be more notable, if they DIDN'T do those things, if that makes sense. If his YouTube channel is in fact popular, there should be media coverage of it. If there isn't coverage of it, remove it. I would also consolidate the sections, either do it in sections by series or by year. Doing both is a bit much and breaks up the information unnecessarily. I do agree there is a bit of flow irregularity between the sections of Professional Career and the Racing Disciplines & Series. I am really trying to keep both of the sections as it shows the diversity. I am hoping to build up the Professional Career as time goes on and the Racing Disciplines & Series is intended to be a brief note / description. What do you think?
