Jonathan Bonnitcha[edit]

There was a historical disagreement, and quite a large divide over the notability of this person, listed for two reasons (in order of reference for WP:NOTABILITY):

  • 1. WP:ATHLETE (Sailing)
  • 2. WP:ACADEMIC (Rhodes Scholar)

The argument for AfD from my part is as follows, adressing the above in order.

WP:ATHLETE[edit]

Whilst Bonnitcha has represented the country at a World Championships, it must be held and remembered that the world championships are open-entry (meaning ANYONE can enter and race). Coupling this, his result well outside of the top-100 is anything but notable. This is Mr Bonnitcha's crowning achievement. Contrary to some well-placed spin in the article, he is not a member (and never has been) of the Australian Olympic Team - please see list of Atheletes from Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008.

On top of this, he has been somewhat "off the radar" since 2007 in terms of sailing.

WP:ACADEMIC[edit]

Bonnitcha, sure enough, is a Rhodes Scholar, and good on him for that, kudos. However, I hold that being a Rhodes Scholar alone is not enough to be listed in the List of Rhodes Scholars, as one must show notability to be on that list (see page). As Mr Bonnitcha is not notable (and as of this time his personal article has been deleted under WP:NOTABILITY), he should not be listed at List of Rhodes Scholars.

RfA[edit]

I notice that you are working on an RfA. I suggest that you reconsider and withdraw your request as you a very unlikely to pass. You have under 50 edits to your account, which is too soon for you to pass and RfA. Please see Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:20, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: Very well. I can't stop you from filing an RfA, however, I would like to tell you that it is not likely to remain open for very long and likely to be closed early. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:25, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

August 2009[edit]

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Pavlova (food). Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.-gadfium 05:42, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I withdraw the warning, as you have since attempted to provide references rather than making a statement contradictory to the references already there. This is now a content dispute rather than a matter of vandalism, and should be discussed at Talk:Pavlova (food).-gadfium 05:54, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why?[edit]

I reverted your edit here because I couldn't see why it is irrelevant as you say. I reverted you but will happily re-revert if you show why it was irrelevant. Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 08:48, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Diabetes Australia-NSW[edit]

Hello Taymaishu, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Diabetes Australia-NSW - a page you tagged - because: The article makes a credible assertion of notability, sufficient to pass A7. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Closedmouth (talk) 09:06, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA was unsuccessful[edit]

I am sorry to inform you that I have withdrawn you request for adminship as unfortunately it no longer enjoyed a realistic prospect of success. I hope will not be too disheartened - many current administrators were unsuccessful on their first attempt. I suggest that continue to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's policies and processes and consider reapplying once you have more experience. WJBscribe (talk) 11:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't let this affect your standard of work. While you still have much to become familiar with, you're making significant headway. I, and many of the other editors at the RfA were very impressed (it is relatively rare to get so many moral support votes). Good luck with your editing! +Hexagon1 11:52, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is your name a pun?[edit]

I can't help but read it as "tie my shoe", but it also sounds like it might mean something in Mandarin. If possible could you tell us the meaning of the name? -- Soap Talk/Contributions 14:55, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mister Singapore/Mister International[edit]

Hello Taymaishu. As I can see, you have participated in the Mister Singapore AfD; you may want also to participate in this AfD: Mister International. The organizers of both male pageants are the same.--Ped Admi (talk) 13:30, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for Feedback[edit]

Dear all, i'm relatively new, but wanted to bring this to somebody's attention to see what i can possibly do about it. I was quite extremely abused by a user on an Admin's Review page after posting a message in support of the Admin. It is the 8th dot-point here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrator_review/Fritzpoll#.7B.7Badmin.7CFritzpoll.7D.7D The editor in question, User:Pdfpdf, has gone on a personal attack. What is the correct process I should go through? Thanks in advance, Taymaishu (talk) 06:39, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In your own comment you kind of breached the required assumption of good faith. I'd let the response go, unless there are ongoing problems. In any case, Requests for Feedback is the wrong venue for that. See WP:WQA. Rd232 talk 15:52, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption Offer[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you were looking to get adopted. I'd like to offer to be your adopter. I've been on wikipedia for a year now and am fairly familiar with how it works. I'd be happy to teach you the ropes and to help you get started. Let me know if you're interested, either here, or on my talk page. Cheers!Smallman12q (talk) 21:59, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
