January 1997 Tornado Outbreak[edit]

I dug up some more information on the January 1997 tornado outbreak. I didn't know if you wanted to continue with the discussion. TornadoLGS (talk) 03:02, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The January 1997 tornado outbreak has been very sparsely documented from what I was able to find. If there's any more useful information that you've found then I'd be more than happy to know about it. TheRMSTitanic (talk) 03:46, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. What I did find suggests that the Tuscaloosa tornado was indeed part of that same outbreak, and I was hoping to go ahead with a merge. TornadoLGS (talk) 15:38, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There are a few reasons I thought the Tuscaloosa tornado was notable (first tornado fatality in Tuscaloosa since 1932, not to mention Tuscaloosa has a history of fatal tornadoes) but since it was part of the same outbreak, and assuming those details can be mentioned (under "See section on this tornado" or something like that) it would probably be a good idea to go ahead with the merger. Also, do you think it would be actually worth it to create an article about the May 2008 Southern California tornadoes (an event that I witnessed personally) that resulted in four tornadoes across the state? TheRMSTitanic (talk) 16:44, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go ahead with the merge. I don't think the California tornadoes would be worth an article. I know somewhere that we came up with some general guidelines for how significant a tornado or outbreak must be to qualify for its own article and this event definitely falls short. TornadoLGS (talk) 17:37, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a link to the page describing what the notability criteria for tornadoes are? TheRMSTitanic (talk) 18:12, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Took a bit to find, but it's at Wikipedia:WikiProject Severe weather/Tornado#Notability criteria for articles. Also, from precedent, I've seen articles on more significant tornadic events deleted due to a lack of notability. TornadoLGS (talk) 04:15, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Palm Sunday tornado outbreak[edit]

I have reverted your edit to Palm Sunday tornado outbreak because Tornado outbreak of April 13–15, 2019 does not mention 'Palm Sunday tornado outbreak' (and references aren't used on disambiguation pages to justify inclusion of articles). The reasoning is that if a reader goes to Tornado outbreak of April 13–15, 2019 looking for confirmation that it is commonly called 'Palm Sunday tornado outbreak', they will not find it. If you add 'Palm Sunday tornado outbreak' to the Tornado outbreak of April 13–15, 2019, and include the references there, then it could go on the DAB page without argument (by me anyway). Leschnei (talk) 13:23, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the reasons why the edit was reverted. I don't have any plans to redo the edit I made to the Palm Sunday tornado outbreak disambiguation page, even if I was to add the reference to the main article instead, but what exactly do you mean by "by me anyway"? Are you an administrator? TheRMSTitanic (talk) 22:27, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not an administrator. I simply meant that I can only speak for myself. Leschnei (talk) 01:09, 28 April 2019 (UTC)flippant[reply]
Okay. Apologies if I came off as rude in any way. I was just wondering what exactly you meant by that. Thanks, TheRMSTitanic (talk) 04:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Leschnei (talk) 17:44, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
