Welcome[edit]

Hello, The Whole Truth Now, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created was Geoffrey Giuliano, which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! A tag has been placed on User:The Whole Truth Now, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion[edit]

This is the page of a living internationally know actor, author and artist as well as social activist. It is well sourced with websites and other professional sources. Giul ano is well known actor and author and simply lists his accomplishments and public works as with any other entertainer. For years it has been used as a foruem to attack the actor author for his sometimes controversal books by readers and now that it is being updated to include his popular film work vandals are again attacking this artist.

While some may not enjoy works his works he is an internationally know celebrity. Wikipedia is not a popularity contest nor a place for unabashed promotion. Indeed most of what is in this article is slanted against the artist. Everytime his books are listed they are removed. Evertime his films are listed theyare removed. This is motivated vandalism.

http://www.geoffreygiuliano.net/portfolio/

http://www.iconcatalogue.com/#/50

There is a link to his 27 internationally published books.

Here is a link to his films:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0321325/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1

He IS a famous and celebrated artist. His page should stay within the rules of Wikipedia and the public interest.

No THE WHOLE TRUTH NOW is not GEOFFREY GIULIANO. Nor was the article written by him. It has been up for about 10 years. Mr. Giuliano has NOT made any changes to this page as far as we are aware. [[unsigned|The Whole Truth Now}}

  • Please don't be naive or assume that people here are naive. And why are you referring to yourself as "we"? --Randykitty (talk) 07:17, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In any event, it is copyright infringement regardless. -- dsprc [talk] 07:20, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Note from deleting admin The reason I deleted the article was not because of promotional reasons (although it did read like a CV), but purely because it was a blatant copy of someone elses work. As a teacher, I am sure you would not tolerate your students copying each other's work. Likewise here at Wikipedia, we take an equally strong stance against it by removing it immediately. I have posted some information in the section below that will give you guidance as to what is and (more importantly) what isn't acceptable. Stephen! Coming... 09:26, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

August 2014[edit]

Warning icon Hello The Whole Truth Now, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Stephen! Coming... 09:22, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Stephen! Coming... 09:30, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi it is not a PERSONAL website as I am not Geoffrey Giuliano. Listing an actors credits is NOT promotion. Is not advertising. It is a record of their works. Are you telling me bibliographies are NOT allowed for authors on Wikipedia. Show me that please. So under Ernest Hemminmgway you MAY NOT list his literay works? No mention of his books? I am sorry with real respect I do not buy that. Second an actor, Antony Hopkins may NOT have a listing of his films? That cannot be. No mention of his work as an actor and what films he appeared in. I am not this Giuliano, nor do I know him but fair is fair. He has a reight as a published author to have a LISTING OF HIS BOOKS and as an ACTORa listing of his films.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Geoffrey Giuliano may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 10:21, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits, and why they are being reverted[edit]

There is a reason why your edits are being reverted. I have undone most of your edits, and will put an explanation as to why here, in more detail than I can do in the edit summary:

  1. This one was reverted because you inserted a spam link (iconeditions.net), and removed referenced text. The reveiws may have been negative, but they are referenced from reliable sources, so they should remain.
  2. This edit was originally removed en masse with the rest of the edits because it included a spam link. I have left the bulk of the text in place now by creating a Biblography section, but the spam link is still removed.
  3. As a rule IMDB is not used as a primary source, because (like Wikipedia) anyone can edit it and thus the reliability goes down. In addition, the WP:PEACOCK phrase "According to the well repected Hollywood website Internet Movie Data Base. Com" is extremely promotional, and thus not permitted.

By all means, ADD to the article, provided in doing so you do not:

  1. Add promotional links;
  2. Remove referenced material;
  3. Write as though you are creating advertising copy.

We are not here to prevent this article being expanded; we want to see it improved, not converted into an advert. Stephen! Coming... 11:43, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

August 2014[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Geoffrey Giuliano shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. TO RANDY AND STEPHEN: Okay those answers make sense. Got It! All I was looking for was the reason behind things. I will oblige. Sorry I was not asware of the rules. Thank you so much for cluing me in! Now one question how is the publishers website of Geoffrey Giuliano's books considered SPAM? Can you explain that please guys? Also how can we put a photo of Giuliano up there. Can you help with that? Best ever.
Another issue. No one copied that article. That was the original that has been there fior years. I expanded it with the new info on Giuliano's books and films. Tell me pleaase where I lifted or stole that from? I wrote it myself. It was only a couple of paragraphs. Not difficult at all. To say it is stolen text you must kindly tell me from where? i wrote it. I cannot fathiom what your answer can possibly be, Thanks so much! Best
(Added by StephenBuxton, taken from Wikipedia:Administrator review/StephenBuxton by The Whole Truth Now)Regarding Geoffrey Giuliano you said "I have left the bulk of the text in place now by creating a Biblography section," I dont see it there at all. Where is it? and why can the books be listed but not the films. Do you mean Robert Deniros Wikipedia may NOT list his films? I am not understanding the problem. Giuliano is an actor and author. Why cannot there be a bibilography of his Books and a list of his films? Thank You, Best
I was referring to your User Page, which was a word-for-word copy of http://www.geoffreygiuliano.net/bio. I'll have a look at your other questions a bit later when I have more time. Stephen! Coming... 15:09, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, now to address your other questions. I had converted your bibliography into a list. However, one editor trimmed it down to a shorter list (their comment being that we don't need to list every work, as he isn't an author like Charles Dickens), and then another removed the rest as it was unreferenced. You can see this on the History page.
So what can we use as a reference? The problem is that the web page that sells the books is, by definition, a promotional website. What you need to do is find a Third Party Reliable Source that lists his works, or at least mentions a few of them. Then you can list a few of his works.
As for adding a photo of the Giuliano, I am not the best person to answer that, as my knowledge of image copyright is extremely scant, and I have never uploaded an image onto Wikipedia. Your best bet is to ask at the Help Desk.
Can I please suggest that if you have any more questions, you pay attention to where you post them? I nearly missed the question you posted on my archived Administrator Review page, as that is not somewhere I normally go, but only saw it when I was looking at your contributions. User Talk pages, relevant noticeboards and article talk pages are the best places to post. And try to keep all the posts in one topic area, as it makes it easier for others to follow and questions are less likely to get overlooked. Stephen! Coming... 16:04, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Is this ok? I found his bibliograpghy listedv o Amazon is that ok? And Giuliano sent me a promo piture with a permission to use it. Now what? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.144.144.164 (talkcontribs) 16:16, 26 August 2014‎ (UTC
Amazon is as promotional as any other book sellers site. As for a picture, only the person who took it and therefore owns the copyright can upload it here (and release it under a Creative Commons license. --Randykitty (talk) 16:39, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(Edit Conflict)What you can do now is explain your connection to Guiliano before making any further edits to the article. The above question was posted by an anonymous IP address, who [in another edit claimed to be Geoffrey Guiliano.
So, either you are Guiliano, or you are using his computer. In either case, you are demonstrating a very clear Conflict of Interest which needs to be addressed. Edits where conflicts of interest exist are strongly discouraged and you MUST declare your connection, ideally at the [[WP:COIN|Conflict of Interest Noticeboard. That's not to say that you can't edit the page, but your edits will be closely scrutanised for neutrality. Stephen! Coming... 16:42, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that the (now deleted) edits to the user page left much doubt about this question... --Randykitty (talk) 16:46, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Giuliano Page[edit]

Allow me to explain. I was doing this as a project with my teenage daughter. She is 16. She thought ONLY the person who was the subject of the artical can make changes. She put down she was this Giuliano and I think contacted him on some social media and was excited. You put down shev was him. She is not. I corrected it. She gets it now. That is the deal. Hope that helps. So where would a biblography have to be for an author for you to allow? His publisher is not ok? Correct? Am right?Amazon.com not oright> You tell me where can it be sourced from. We is my daughter and I btw. Now tell me: 1. Why his movies cannot be listed. Or how they can. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.144.144.172 (talkcontribs) 00:42, 27 August 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

First of all, and I cannot emphasise this enough, it is strongly discouraged that you edit your own biography, or an article you are closely connected to. See The guidelines on conflict of interest for details, including the exceptions to that rule. I encourage you (and your daughter) to read it, as it will make clear what is and is not permitted.
Secondly, the bibliography ideally needs to be a list (or selected list) of notable works. And notability is defined as something that is referenced by Third Party reliable sources not used for advertising purposes. If you can provide a source that describes your work, then let us know and someone will add it for you. Your own website is not third party, IMDB is not a reliable source, and using an online store is considered spam.
Finally, and this is nothing to do with your questions, but you have been asked to do this before but have still to do this: please, when you post on a talk page or a notice board, can you end your post with 4 tildes ~~~~, as this adds a note to the end of your post to enable others to see who wrote it without having to wade through the page history. Thank you. Stephen! Coming... 06:49, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi
I am not Geoffrey Giuliano. It was daughters project. And I told her we do not understand Wiki and lets just stop working with it. I thought it would be educational for her but it may cause this actor problems - which is not fair and frankly, she went over board. She LOVES his books. Did she say she was him? Anyway. We met him and his wife at an opening and she got a signiture on some books, I took some photos. And that is that. I do not know this man, though he was very nice to my daughter. So I have told her no more Wiki. And so this is the end of it. Thanks for your help my friend! Wiki is Certainly not for high school kids. You need to have a PHD in Library Science. Way too many rules. You have been very kind sir. So thanks again.203.144.144.172 (talk) 07:07, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see. You didn't explain that you weren't Giuliano in the above post, just that she was your daughter. I am sorry if you felt we were being very restrictive, but we are only here to help the project. We do this by correcting mistakes, educating new users, and removing non-encyclopoedic material. Please bear in mind all our actions were as a direct result of the interactions with you and your daughter, with us responding as per the information you both presented to us in an appropriate manner.
If you do decide to return to editing Wikipedia, just remember the general rules of thumb: No adverts, only referenced material, and be up front and honest with other editors. Also, the Help Desk is always available for questions. Stephen! Coming... 09:28, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • So you're a teacher whose daughter was trying to impersonate Guiliano and you're using a Bangkok-based IP?? Could you please try not to insult our intelligence? And now another new user has cropped up, too: Souloftruth1, who has uploaded what clearly is a promotion picture of this world famous person, claiming it is "own work". I guess that's one of the pictures that you're referring to above. --Randykitty (talk) 11:20, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There are several people living in Bangkok. My daughter and I met Giuliano at a book signing. What's thew problem? She is 16. She got in over her head w. ith Wiki. I looked at it and we are not posting here further. I took the photo of Giuliano as it is my profession and, by the way my copyright which I gave over to Wiki for eternity. We have had a bad Wiki trip. May we leave it at that sir? We will not be posting further. Seems...well, unfriendly, Really we are done with Wiki. Not for us. May this be the end of matter? Good luck to you and Giuliano.I am surprized but I am 100% gone as well and so is my daughter. So no worries. Take care sir. 203.144.144.162 (talk) 11:40, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Possible booklist[edit]

Dear Stephen I am Alicia. I have been working on the Geoffrey Giuliano piece. I don't know how to do it. My dad told me to stop but i like The Beatles and I meet the author and I like his books. I do not think it is fair hios books are not listed on Wiki. He has written to ost and I think best books on The Beatles. You said to my dad you would help add a list of this books but Amazon was no good because it was a coomercial site.I found a listing online that it NOT selling the books. Would you please add this? Oe help me. Thank you very much. (I don't want to get in anymore trouble so I am asking you cause you were nice. Here it is. Is this ok? Can you help? http://books.google.co.th/books/about/Blackbird.html?id=FEU5AQAAIAAJ&redir_esc=yThe Whole Truth Now (talk) 11:06, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I am unable to view that web page; a firewall is preventing me from accessing it here. I would suggest either waiting for one of the other editors who are watching this talk page to comment, or perhaps asking at The Help Desk. Stephen! Coming... 11:37, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can see it, it's just a Google Books link. It shows that the book exists (but I don't think that was contested anyway), but nothing more. What you need is sources about these books, like was done for some of the others (although unfortunately it seems like the reviewers didn't like his books that much). --Randykitty (talk) 12:15, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Randy, Sir I asked my father and teacher and now if i follow the rules better I can work on this. I have found many good reviews for his books. Can you help me put them in if I can find them on line? Here's one I found today: http://www.threepennytaproom.com/integralpsychosis/2008/02/09/review-lennon/ Would you help me put this in? I do not know how. And I got in trouble before. Thank you.The Whole Truth Now (talk) 13:49, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your father and teacher is a wise man. Please read WP:RS. Threepennytaproom doesn't seem to me to be a source with strict editorial control (in fact, it says it's a one-man operation), so I don't think this is useful. --Randykitty (talk) 13:54, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So I can not put this review in because it has a small staff? How many staff must there be?The Whole Truth Now (talk) 13:58, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's not that simple. Please study the link to RS that I gave in my previous comment, that explains it all (and also provides a link to the RS noticeboard, where you can ask for help about this). --Randykitty (talk) 14:06, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To Mr Randy and Mr. Stephen: I found many reviews of his books on Publshers Weekly Magazine. That is a very famous huge, non selling books decades long publishing institution. Will these reviews be okay. My dad says yes. He says Publishers Weekly is very old, repected and fammous. Here is a WIKI link on this magazine:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publishers_Weekly

Here is the link to his many reviews here: http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0-553-52589-2

I am sure this source will be accepted. Will you help me put them up?Or shall I try alone? But if i make a mistake please don't get mad at me or say bad about my dad. He was only trying to help me. The Whole Truth Now (talk) 14:59, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a Bibliography Of Autrhor Geoffrey Giuliano I have found a non-commercial complete version on Google. SEE LINK BELOW There is nothing for sale here. The books are abour 90% out of print. So I am sure this allows me by your rules to include this in his article. Someone called him an obscure author. It is not true. He has written over 30 books in many languages. Paul McCartney wrote a book with him. His Paint It Black was made into a 50,000,000 $ film Stoned and he has written more books on the Beatles (24) than anyone ever. I have asked my dad and I will ask my teacher but I feel it is fair, reasonable and just to add the list of his books to an atricle by a famous rock biograpoher. My dad says I do not need to ask permission. But I do need help. Will someone help me please? I am getting extra credit at my school too.

I've added the books listed on the Publisher's Weekly page; I think these will be alright, but others may disagree. A complete bibliography is probably not needed, but if there are any notable books of his, they can be added to the list. At the moment, I would caution against adding any more, as the more you add the more likely they are going to be removed as excessive listing. Stephen! Coming... 11:50, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can a photo of Giuliano as Ronzld McDonald and one of him with the Beatles be added? They are from the author's collection. He owns the copyright and will give the copyright to the pictures over to Wikipedia forever. He send them to me via email today. I am only asking please no one get angry at me. If it is acceptable How can it be done (I do not know how at all. I don't want to break any rules again. Please stop[edit]

Please stop creating a new thread every time that you go to the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. All of your posts are about the same article and they need to be kept together to avoid confusion. Also on a "talk page" or "noticeboard" you should sign your post by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your message. It would also be a good idea to stop using ALL CAPS in your posts. It is seen as shouting and that is not a good idea when you are talking with fellow editors. Your cooperation in this will be appreciated. MarnetteD|Talk 15:38, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
