January 2022[edit]

Hello, I'm HMSLavender. I noticed that in this edit to Jerk It Out, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 06:57, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of International Vulture Awareness Day[edit]

Hello Thecolonpagesaretoocomplicated,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged International Vulture Awareness Day for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Information icon Hello, I'm TylerBurden. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Lukáš Hrádecký, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. TylerBurden (talk) 02:37, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:53, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please have a look also at the information at this page, which appears every time you edit J. K. Rowling. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:55, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Odd place for a suicide awareness campaign.[edit]

Perhaps put the "died of suicide" activism on pages other than ones about conspiracy theories about one of history's most notorious monsters. Simonm223 (talk) 15:18, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To be frank, I would say this is more about destigmatisation than 'awareness' per se. Also, seeing as this is pertaining to the act rather than the victim, the identity of the victim is irrelevant. The terminology should change for everyone, regardless of who has died by suicide. The fact that he killed millions of people - including dozens of members of my family - is not relevant to the discussion. Thecolonpagesaretoocomplicated (talk) 15:38, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no reason to change what is written, unless consensus is reached stating otherwise. I would suggest you read: RfC on "commit suicide" language in the Manual of Style (2021). This for general consensus, although you may have to obtain local consensus as well, depending on the editors involved as to articles you wish to change as to such language. Disambiguation link notification for May 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Toby Harris, Baron Harris of Haringey, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 2017 London attack. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
