Thanks for your comments. I feel the page, while is relates to a historical family, it is not genealogical in mapping out the relationship between individuals. But rather the relationship between historical groupings.

On the issue of primary and secondary sources. I should clarify that the sources are published but not published on the Internet. So the sources I refer to are rare secondary sources.

Review of my draft Malt the Brewery page for Wikipedia

Thank you for the swift turnaround of the review of my first solo effort of a new article on Wikipedia. Given the notification that this could take up to 8 weeks, I was pleasantly surprised to get the notification message this morning. I didn’t have any expectation that my first draft effort would be accepted. I have been editing other pages that I have recently visited namely Prestwood, where passing reference is made to the brewery and The ORSociety pages. This however, has been a learning experience for me.

I had done some research on similar Articles written for Breweries, both in the UK and overseas, to understand the sort of content on pages that have already been accepted. A good example is the other local Micro Brewery Rebellion Beer Company, based in Marlow. They seem to reference back to their own website on a couple of citations, is this acceptable?


I am perplexed regarding your concerns regarding the cited references. They are all published content from either independent Award organisations (Great Taste Awards) or local newspapers, (The Source & the Bucks Free Press). I will of course endeavour to source additional evidence of the brewery, its activity, production, products and its contribution to the community in which it resides. I will then review the tone of the piece, update my draft and resubmit. I would however welcome some guidance from yourself or other similarly more experienced contributors to Wikipedia on how to successfully conclude with a published page.

Very old "Living people"

In [1] you added both Category:1872 births and Category:Living people with AFCH. I don't use AFCH and don't know how much it does. Did AFCH add living people automatically? If it did then it should get a bug report. Category:Living people says to use Category:Year of death missing for births before CURRENTYEAR-115. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:17, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia unfriendly to small users

Just responding to your removal of my links. I understand from your removal that you're only interested in links from big websites even if the published articles are out of date. Adding some useful information from an up-to-date article about Pinterest isn't of interest to you. Personally I can't see the difference between a correctly referenced link to an in-depth well researched article on Simply Hatch compared with a link to poorly researched out of date article on Time or Forbes or CNET.

I am Alison Wright, the person who ran from Everest Base Camp to Kathmandu with Helene Diamantides. That's correct blogs are not reliable sources. Wikipedia is NOT a blog but it also cannot be used as a source either. The article may be dated, it was also hagiographic in tone, but adding your own blog links to it is not very helpful. Theroadislong (talk) 15:57, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

I understand it's both surprising and discouraging, however, there are reasons for this: Wikipedia in general is not interested in what people want to say about themselves (or their relatives, friends, employers, organizations, etc.) but only what others say about them. Hence any first-hand relations (blogs among them) are not accepted. Even if they are full of details and absolutely true, they do not count. Similary eye-witnesses reports do not count as a source of information about any event or fact. Shinohara began his career as a performer as a member of the Tokyo-based dance company Nomade~s [reference] in 2004-2005
Reference: "nomade~s - ノマド's". www.nomade-s.com. Retrieved 2019-03-05.
This implies that "nomade~s - ノマド's" states that Shinohara began his career as a performer as a member. I see no such statement there. (And yes I can read Japanese.) It's a Flash-based horror of a website, preventing you from providing a link to the specific pseudo-page within. This of course is not your fault. I may have missed something. Have I? Where does the site talk about Shinohara?

Hello Simon7673, talk page stalker here. Having an article in the Wikipedia in one language does not justify having an article in the Wikipedia of another language. Is this fellow notable for his position in Siemens Healthineers, or as a basketball player (or as both)? Whichever it is, the writer of an article about him is going to have demonstrate his notability in this role.
That writer should not be you. I notice two things: first, your user page says Contributor for Primafila NY; secondly, this page says Together with locally established photographers, Primafila correspondents create premium content for Siemens AG’s global b2b-audience in the computed tomography industry. The team includes healthcare and local journalists from around the globe as well as renowned medical writers.

Cellemetry article

Sorry - I have not written many articles on Wikipedia. When you said it needed more references were you referring to the existence of Cellemetry or some other aspect? It has been out of service for quite some time, however, I am sure I can dig up SEC filings and such. I did reference the Atlanta Business Journal later in the article. Hello. I am working on an article about Hanns-Dietrich Schmidt. You declined it due to its doubtful relevance. I am looking for more references to support why he should have an article in English but most of the sources are also in German. He has already an article in Wikipedia in German and maybe I´m taking the wrong path to do this. Having an article in German doesn't necessarily mean we have to have one in English, the german one is VERY poorly sourced and would probably be deleted on English Wikipedia, your draft is also very poorly sourced, you can use german sources if you wish, they don't have to be in English. Help for a noob

Sorry to bug you, but you corrected some cases of vandalism on the Dodgson page, so I'm hoping you care. I don't understand why my change was reverted. Doesn't everyone know Dodgson referred to himself as the Dodo (for whatever reason) in AiW? Did I do something wrong? I tried to leave a reason but my PCs were busy rendering so I did this on a Mac and hit the wrong ctl/cmd key. I could not find a way to edit it. I know, if I don't know what I'm doing I should stay away - but I DO know Dodgson, so seeing "Aryaman" instead of Dodo kinda pissed me off. I'm sorry that I don't know what I'm doing here well enough to succeed, but someone should change it back. Hoary & Theroadislong: It's my fault for being new and not realizing the correct thing to do was a revert. Sorry about that. I did also wrongly assume people would realize it was vandalism as it's always been "dodo" as far as I can remember and one can easily search the AiW text and find the reference. I would think the person who changed it would have to provide some sort of reference to why they added a word not in the text. Perhaps it is in their own native language.

I honestly had no idea how much that page gets vandalized. And I only wanted the word "Dodo" back -- I know the issue of it's reference to his stammer is a can of worms. All reliable recorded comments I've read regarding his speech dysfluency (and I have the whole 10 volume diary collection) relate to a hesitation (similar to the movie 'The King's Speech'), not a repeating stutter. But as I am not truly (or at least solely) a professional Carrollian research scholar, I'd never add my personal comments to a wiki. And even with such a dysfluency there's no reason why he couldn't have accidentally said, "Do- Dodgson" at some point.

Pixel8tryx, you can sign and timestamp your comments by hitting "~" four times in a row. Dodgson/Carroll is a name that young people encounter at school. Perhaps they have to read something by him, and doing so is far less interesting to most kids than is playing computer games in which they blow up cyborgs that attempt to blow them up (etc). So bored children will vandalize the article. (Be grateful that they don't attempt to provide evidence: what's far more worrisome than kind of the silliness you spotted is the careful insertion of fake evidence.) The amount of vandalism and miscellaneous stupidity hereabouts is enormous; this means that some people put a lot of effort reverting it; this in turn means that they are sometimes too hasty. Venus Jewel does yearly business of more than 100 MN USD (revenue) every year, I think that makes it eligible. Figure is publicly provided in 2008. Check following article. Coxwold Pottery article - follow up

Hope you don't mind me getting back in touch with you. First of all, again thank you so much for getting involved with this article. I had a good look at your User Page and found that you had actually contributed 23 or 24 articles on potters! I see as well that you started the W A Ismay article. What an achievement! The Coxwold article has now been up a for a few weeks and I see you have done one or two more edits! Anyway, thanks again. Some points. Would it be OK now do you think to alter the ‘List of UK Studio Potters’ to link Peter and Jill Dick to the ‘Coxwold Pottery’ article? Also, I saw that in your Michael Cardew article there is actually mention of Peter Dick. Again, could we link that back to the Coxwold article? The next thing is that since the article was on Mainspace, Jill Dick has been in touch with me and is very pleased that Coxwold pottery now has an article. (NB I deliberately did not attempt to get in touch with her when I was drafting the article to avoid any conflict of interest.) She’s made one or two small points on the content, so I hope is will be alright to edit these. And last, I'm hoping to put some further examples of Coxwold pots up on Wikimedia Commons and I think it might be quite good to change the two pot illustration for a more interesting example? Rejected article

Dear Theroadislong,

I was just wondering what further proof I should submit for the article you rejected earlier here. Part of the issue is a significant portion of her fanbase is completely offline, in a very low income country where most people don't even have access to the internet. She is one of the most famous people in her industry, so I was wondering what else I can do to submit said proof. I have hundreds of caps of newspaper articles and magazine covers, including for some of bangladesh's biggest fashion magazines like Ice Today here. Sadly, many of these institutions don't post their content online directly, but I do have copies of it all for verification. I don't think its fair to rule someone out just because they aren't famous in a country where most of the popular media is internet based like the States. I 'm a pretty new wikier, so not sure how this process works.

The references you ask for re: article on Elliott Francis...can they be internet archived television, or film appearances? Some broadcast journalists typically have more electronic based media sources rather than articles, or books, Mr. Francis appears to be one. Also, should I place the reference after the text to be cited, or at the bottom of the page? Thanks!

Rejected article for being "too promotional"

Hello.

The page I created is rejected because it was too promotional. When it was in draft, user who reviewed it said that I need to touch on one more thing, which I did and to submit it then. I did that and it's still rejected (I know that it didn't mean I the article would the automatically accepted). Do you care to say which part is promotional? I left the bare minimum - about the bussines, a bit of history and the core of the business (placing a hotel into a specific category). I can't see anything promotional left there. I am also a bit frustrated as I keep reading similar Wikipedia pages and they are really promotional yet, I leave the bare minimum and still getting rejected. I don't see how a bit of history and about the company is being promotional.

We would like to be a part of the Wikipedia and I hope you'll help me get it there.

Hello! My name is Winny by the way. It is very good to hear back from your. I just want to thank you very much for having so quickly reviewed my draft submission. Yes, I know.... it is declined. How do I go about finding out the reason for declining? Also if I failed to do this right...can YOU do this project and make a submission so the complete lyric is more accessible? I don't care who post it....as long as it is there. You see...The reason why I did this was because I recently listened to The Messiah by Georg Friedrich Handel and I wanted to look up the entire lyric in Wikipedia. It ended up not being there. And I ended up having to google each individual movement (songs...and there are 53 of them) to find the lyrics. It was very frustrating. So I compiled all of these from various lyric websites. I am not sure why I can fine Enriqu Iglesias Lyric here but not Handel's Messiah here. It is true there are plenty of information on Wikipedia about Georg Friedrich Handel....including description of each movement for The Messiah. But I wish there is a list of all the lyrics on one page. And I really hope someone could do this....and have it up by Easter this year.

Umlaut draft

Hello, I am trying to get my article draft fit for approval since it was initially declined. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:UMLAUT_(band) I realize that there isn't a huge amount of material to support the subject. The musical group exists on many music streaming websites, has been promoted in podcasts, and is tied to other subjects that do have their own wikipedia pages. De-commercializing this page

We are doing our best to clean up the Williamsburg Christian Academy Wikipedia entry. We are stripping positive descriptors from sections and just trying to present factual information regarding the school. Unfortunately, the bulk of information available about the school can only be obtained from the school's website in terms of their philosophy, programs, and personnel. There really is no public information that has covered what people really need to know about the institution. What would you recommend that we do regarding the warnings placed on the page to make it inline with guidelines? We want the most factual detail we can get on the page, but don't want to be viewed as advertising, just providing data.

As an aside, one problem that exists here is that Google for Business draws upon the Wikipedia description of the institution. This yields temptation to improve or polish the appearance of the Wikipedia description to garner more appeal....just an observation. In my opinion, Wikipedia has no place in a commercial listing, unless it's a purely governmental or monument type location. Sullymaan (talk) 17:41, 21 March 2019 (UTC) The Maan

If the content has not been discussed in independent sources then it can't be on Wikipedia. Articles on Wikipedia must be adequately supported by reliable sources so that information can be verified

Universe

Hello. You have reverted my edit on Universe on the basis that it doesn't belong in the lead section. However, the current definition of a universe contradicts many multiverse articles at once - for example, the article multiverse, which states that a multiverse is a "group of multiple universes". Of course, if a single universe encompasses all time and space, that would be impossible. Furthermore, the article Universe itself has a dedicated and relatively detailed sub-section about the multiverse hypothesis, which directly contradicts the lead. I would like to hear your arguments as to why you don't think the definition of a universe in the multiverse context does not belong in the lead section.

I have italicised the articles 'the' and 'a' for distinction, and also note how the Universe is capitalised, unlike a universe. Furthermore, at the end of the sentence, it is stated that this definition only applies to "many multiverse hypotheses". Don't see any contradiction. Please read the edit clearly before reverting. Since when is Billboard not a reliable source?

I do not understand your comments. Since when is Billboard not a reliable source? It says right in the reference that this artist co-wrote a song recorded by Dionne Warwick for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Her music has also been played on the BBC in addition to other things. I have seen musicians on Wikipedia with almost no references.Are you sure you're seeing the revised article? Every reference listed is either a review, radio play on a national station or a major publication like Billboard.

I attempted to update my Wikipedia page on Saturday evening because it has concerned me for a while that I am currently being misrepresented there. It seems the page was set up for me by someone when I was a television actress (over ten years ago). However, for the last decade I have worked as a Storyteller and Educator. As much of the information on my page is either incorrect or out of date I took pains to correct it myself but I received notification from you yesterday morning that you had changed it back again! I'm afraid that, like many others, you have misunderstood what Wikipedia is about. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that summarizes what independent sources say about a subject. Wikipedia has essentially no interest in what you or I have to say about anything. We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject.
