Your Dec 30 Declination of the Jordan Pooley Farrar affair

I can understand your rational here[[1]]. But I am at a loss. While this affair was not the first Breach of Promise Suit ever, it was the first in America and it is significant because it fits nicely into the Second and Third paragraphs of Breach of Promise as an example of it's origin in the case of renouncing a promise to marry by a woman (yet the finding was indeterminate)still it is history. If published then it could be linked to from Breach of Promise, but it altogether too much to include in Breach of Promise. There are plenty of secondary references to the affair, and not just in passing. 15 of them in fact. Can you help me out here?Oldperson (talk) 17:31, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Sorry but it was as much the language of the draft, as well as not seeming to be notable. The language is not the kine we normally see in encyclopedia articles, for instance “only three or four days in the grave subsequently discovered that his bride to be had betrothed herself to another.” “grabbed the hand of Cecily and pledged his troth, she demurred claiming it was too soon after the funeral” “A widow, especially one, like Cecily, owning a plantation with indentured servants, black and white, was insecure in her being” “It was beholden to a widow to remarry as soon as possible after a proper period of grieving” “shortage of women was so dire, that men of substance would try to bring their unmarried sisters over,” “The younger women who were chosen were of a lower social order but selected for their good character” “Cecily supposedly asserted that she would as soon marry him as anyone,” “Mrs Jordan, fearful of gossip, asked that he keep the affair a secret,” It feels like we have traveled back a century or two? @Theroadislong: Yegads. I am going to have to get some help. This is the way I write, formally, it is the way my brain is wired. I did not think that such lnaguage style would be so important. There is nothing unuusal or "archaic" to me about the style. "betrothed" plighting ones troth are normal useages of language, there is no 21st century synonym, as is "grieving" in fact I can't think of a synonym for grieving, maybe mourning, but that lacks the import. Take the phrase men of substance. that which was offered as an enticement for women to migrate to Virginia were a (vain) promise that they would marry "men of quality". Which is way too classist in todays parlance. Rich is not a synonym as a man of "qualtiy" or "substance" didn't necessarily have to be rich.. Yet the Virginia Company used a promise that the girls would marry a man of quality as an enticement to migrate. The girls they were recruiting were women of "quality", not the maidens of the lower and poorer classes, the numbers of which there were thousands who needed no inducement. The "spouse recruiting" was for the benefit of the upper class, primarily. These men who ventured to the New World in homes of founding their own fortune and dynasty, were unlike the '49ers of the California Gold Rush, in that they were usually the scions of the gentry of London and it's surrounds, and were unaccompanied, in the early days, because of the uncertanities ahead. They would be given a 100 acre land grant (patent) by the Crown, but had no real motivation to build on it or work it without a wife and children.

At most 200 females of quality were recruited in the early days of the venture.

Socially there must have been mayhem in the Jamestown community, with men fighting for wives. I've seen romanticized accounts of the affair in which the person wrote that Cecily was a stunning beauty over which men fought. This is the stuff of romance novels. Fact is that women were scarce, death came early, widows were snatched up and there were no "spinsters" to speak of. The indentured servants, black and white, married within themselves or with the locals (natives). Slavery did not come until 1653. Anthony Johnson (colonist) An African and former indentured servant cum planter sued a neibhboring planter for the return of John Casor another African indentured servant, which he claimed was his personal property.Johnson won and slavery began.. In 1691 Virginia passed an antimiscegenation law that crossed boundaries of class forbidding the marriage of blacks and whites I can try to rewrite in 21st century style, but it will make no sense in the context of the times. Reverting changes to Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses

Hi Theroadislong,

Noticed you reverted my changes to the article on TGBJW. Did you want to discuss? I'm new here. Don't have a lot of time to devote to studying wiki editing so may make several mistakes. Ivan Cedrovi (talk) 15:15, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Knock Knock (company) tag removal request

Hello Theroadislong,

I am a COI editor looking to clean up the artice Knock Knock (company), which has tags on it that were placed by you in July 2018. Can the tags be removed from the article? In my opinion the article has been cleaned up and is now written in a neutral point of view. Thank you. Darby657 (talk) 13:11, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Request on 14:00:03, 2 January 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Stefanie at FMC CorpCom

Hi theroadislong, thank you for reviewing my updated draft. As you may have seen, I had added further reliable sources as recommended by Bearcat. In terms of the notability of Mr. Powell, I believe his position as the CEO of the world leader in dialysis products and services treating around 330,000 patients worldwide, lends sufficient substance to his mentioning on Wikipedia. Under his leadership, the firm is currently completing the largest acquisition of its history. Looking at DAX30 companies, many other CEOs are already being represented on the German and English Wikipedia, e.g. Timotheus Hoettges (Deutsche Telekom), Christian Sewing (Deutsche Bank), Hans Van Bylen (Henkel), or Werner Baumann (Bayer) to name a few. An article about Rice Powell is already included in the German Wikipedia and an English version is only adequate considering that Powell is US-American. --Sincerely, Stefanie at FMC CorpCom (talk) 14:00, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Notability is established by secondary sources which have reported on him, The German Wikipedia article is VERY poorly sourced and would have been deleted if it were in the English Wikipedia, different countries have different opinions on notability. You just need to find more newspaper or magazine articles that have in-depth coverage of him. Theroadislong (talk) 14:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

Bibliography/Further reading

Hi Theroadislong. A belated Happy 2019!. I'm not sure if "Bibliography" is being used/located correctly in those Florida architect/architectural articles, particularly in the biographies. I understand that bibliography sections are often used this way by publishers, etc. out in the real world, but I don't think that's really in accordance with MOS:MOS. It seems that works not cited in the article would be better off in a "Further reading" section, while those cited in the article could possibly be added as a subjection of the "References" section if necessary (even though I don't think it is); A WP:SRF style might even be a way to incorporate both "Notes" and "References" into the articles. I think the bibliography section in the biographies should be limited to works by the subject of the article and not works written about the subject by others. Anyway, I figured I'd ask for your opinion to see if this was more about my own personal preference or actually a MOS matter. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:23, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Yes I agree that the bibliography section in biographies should be limited to works by the subject of the article, though I am loath to upset this user further! Theroadislong (talk) 20:26, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

January 2019 : reply

Hi there! I'm still trying to learn how to use wikipedia and how to respond to messages.. is this correct? also is there a tutorial somehwere which is easy to use? in response to your message.. none of the material i posted on Annina Roescheisen is promotional, it is all factual.. all material is from her website and from other websites and articles i have found online.I edited out any information that could be interpreted as bias. If there are any tips you can give me to avoid what I have written to be deleted by Wikipedia then please do so. The reason i needed to edit it in the first place is that most of the information on the page was false and there was no information on her art or her achievements. Thank You! --109.164.203.198 (talk) 10:53, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

Please remember to log in when posting comments. Your edits to Annina Roescheisen were mostly sourced to her website, Wikipedia has essentially no interest in what she has to say about anything. We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject. Theroadislong (talk) 14:33, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

DRAFT:SNOOOZE

I copied Red Bull's page, that exists as a brand that I was providing information on to the general public. More specifically to give awareness on my friend Hans' brand. How can I be more informative about the brand, without sounding like a promotional campaign as I linked all information and source code to support data, findings and ingredients (including full supplement facts and nutritional percent daily values)? Please help and what do you recommend? Also, how is Red Bull page acceptable and mine not, as they are very similar in terms of content, layout and design?

Biological background to Hyperacuity.

I do not understand why you think that this is "original research". The major part of the subject matter (including everything associated with the topic of what is now known as Hyperacuity) was researched (and published) as part of my vision research work at BAe, Filton, UK during a period of some 30 years. This was with the strong support of both BAe and the UK Ministry of Defence. During my working life the term hyperacuity was apparently not well-known; hence the reason it is not mentioned in my 1992 book. It is, however, true that some small additions at the end have been followed up since I retired (I am now 87 years old!). But I had hoped that 'publishing' on my website would qualify (bearing in mind that everything on a website is more publicly accessible than any book or paper). Anyway, if that is the problem, then if necessary that latter part can readily be changed. But the major message which should be there is that I have been well aware of the superb capabilities of human vision for very many years and felt that the current entries are a long way out of date!

(IanOverington (talk) 22:01, 12 January 2019 (UTC))

Because it was published by you, in order to demonstrate the subject's notability, you need to provide references to independent articles that discuss "Biological background to Hyperacuity" in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, books, etc.Theroadislong (talk) 22:23, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

Request for your opinion...

Thanks for keeping an eye on the William Farrar (settler) article. Your comments and "thanks" have been appreciated. I have a question now:

Sometime back, you had suggested scrubbing the modern equivalents of the money amounts in the article. Instead, I had put in adjustable ones in using Wikipedia's inflation function. I just felt that almost no reader would have a sense of what the money meant.

But now, I have a reference that gives a salary context for a reader to get a sense of what the amounts mean. Should I scrub the inflation functions or leave them, realizing that readers rarely hover over the references for clarification? If you have time, I'd like to hear your suggestion, (and the reason, if possible.)

(It's fun to obsess about making sure the reader has the context to understand: It's not as if there are likely to be any for this page, except for some random genealogy junky :-) ) Wtfiv (talk) 22:28, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

The references are still mostly incorrectly formatted, but of far greater importance is the content which is stuffed with totally inappropriate, marketing puffery…“the famous London gallerist being pivotal to their meteoric rise””pushed the boundaries of art and design, with their famous 'Momentum' collection” “ completed a great range of projects” “an immensely important patron” “Crossing the boundaries between design and art,” “filled with the apparatus of a cutting-edge studio “. Terms like these are not neutral. Theroadislong (talk) 08:48, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Theroadislong. You BLP prodded this the other day, but a source has been added. Most of the article content, however, remains unsourced. The source provided does state that at lest one of his books was a best seller, though perhaps a controversial one. I'm not sure if his duties as a TV reporter/correspondent make him notable, but I'm wondering if he might squeak by per WP:AUTHOR per stuff like this. If that's the case then maybe the unsourced content can be removed and a little more about his books could be added; if not, then maybe an AfD would be preferable to a regular prod deletion if you still feel the article shouldn't be kept. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:48, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank You-

I understand the revertion. From the original "issue" list: - I've polished up and added links, etc..as an orphan, I'm fixing that now, as well as adding an "infobox". The authors all cited and listed have been notified, and are grateful in fact for this overlook correction of not having the bio posted. Most musicians hailing from Memphis between 1956-1966, used "this person"; all of the Sun Studio musicians.

-I'll purify the MLA 8.0 citation format I'm using- however, some other pages on Wiki (some that I have jump to links) I see also deviate from APA, Chicago, and MLA. I'll recheck format here to at least ensure consistency in this location. -As to orphan, I'll jump to the pages (musicians) listed in this article, and hav them point back here as well- that also in the game plan. This history and weaving does need to be complete to tie in all the major players (literally), and performers from that time who's records still sell. Funny note though in some respect, the one guy that no one would have bet on being the last one standing, still is (Jerry Lee).

Again, this is a "matter-of-fact" article and cites reputable publications (current and past). The "black and white" of it all is maintained to ensure no adjectives/adverbs come from its "author". The obvious first-glance perception of "conflict of interest" by the editors should be reassured that nothing is reported that is not factual (especially considering the Library of Congress' recordation of the albums, records, tapes, and movies)- and is not derived emotions.

As to editing and recommendations to formatting, please do so- the better the quality of product is the ultimate goal. The Memphis musicians and artists need to all be built an tied back to each other. Historically, the other pages already built are missing the "who's who" to complete their biographies.

Again, thanks- I'm off now to build an "infobox". (I'm learning a lot of new language during this process). My Masters thesis was easier-LOL!> — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wmwillis3 (talkcontribs) 19:32, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments about my contribution. None of the sources are in-depth, they are routine listings or primary sources, we require multiple independent in-depth coverage to establish notability. Theroadislong (talk) 18:36, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Why?

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

What exactly is not being accepted draft:Jessica Clements? All these references are from magazines, newspapers or should I just add more references? Would you also accept youtube/instagram references just to consider that the person really exists?

Just a suggestion if people are social media influencers or models than the wikipedia rules for references should not be so tight. There are a lot of restrictions now just to write a good story. I can't even use a lot of references from the fashion industry for example.

I only use facts why isn't that enough?? NYC2019 (talk) 22:02, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Instagram and Youtube are not reliable sources, no one is doubting that she exists, but she needs to pass the notability guide before it can be accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 22:17, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

I read and scanned the page, do I just need to add more references? How many more? And why is this person not notable/relevant? NYC2019 (talk) 22:26, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

You can get other opinions here Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Theroadislong (talk) 22:38, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)We require multiple examples of substantial, independent in-depth coverage to establish notability, not ephemera and passing mentions. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:40, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Well I try it again, I never contribute hereafter. If you add up all her followers on social media than she has more than a million followers on it, she's is a social media influencer, doesn't that count? And modelling for big brands doesn't that count? She doesn't happen to be modelling for Victoria Secret I bet this page would be accepted immediately NYC2019 (talk) 22:45, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Follower counts on social media do not constitute coverage; so-called "influencers" are by definition creatures of hype and dazzle whose profession includes exaggerating their own importance; working for a notable company does not make somebody notable, or the company that sells Bill Gates his toilet paper could claim notability. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:54, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Request on 09:35:15, 24 January 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by AlexandraTaylor1

I submitted a page on Ellacotts LLP yesterday and it was disapproved.

The reasons were: This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

I have used all the references i could find and tried to write from a Neutral Point of View and have never linked to the www.ellacotts.co.uk website directly, using sources such as independent local awards, and local newspapers.

Ellacotts are a Chartered Accountants based in Banbury, Kettering and London and have been running since 1960s. The company is well known in the town of Banbury and therefore i believe it requires a wikipedia page.

Could you suggest ways i could improve it so that it would be approved?

Many thanks, Alex

You have a clear conflict of interest and you are being paid to edit, the draft is a blatant advert, I can't help you I'm afraid. Theroadislong (talk) 09:57, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Theroadislong,

I have elaborated on the subject of this article and provided references including ISBN numbers for a large catalogue of published works. If you could re-review and provide any further guidance that would be most appreciated

I left you a message thereStevenvieczorek (talk) 00:31, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

As an amateur stone worker who spent many days working with bluestone in Pennsylvania at a family summer house, and is currently managing a smashed fingertip from a bit of carelessness moving a stone back in October, I appreciate your interest in monitoring these articles. I hold with the opinion that if bluestone in the U.S. is not always blue and not always from Pennsylvania, there should not be an article "Pennsylvania Bluestone" regardless of what any quarry owner, stone mason or association opines. The content can be incorporated into Bluestone and a redirect left behind. David notMD (talk) 14:55, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I have submitted a page for our company and it got deleted with comment 'Blatant advertising'. Please note the page was created with no intention of advertising. How can we create a page for our company? — Preceding unsigned comment added by LifeWorks Compassionate Healthcare (talkcontribs) 15:25, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

The answer is you can't you have been blocked, if your company is notable someone else will write the article eventually. Theroadislong (talk) 15:29, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Regarding your question about wiki page

No, I have no personal connection with Sweta Rai. There are several news items that have been referenced to support Sweta Rai's wiki page. Even if you do not consider IMDB as a reliable source, there are several links to the platforms like Amazon Prime, iTunes, Showtime, etc. where the movies Surviving the Wild and Orphan Horse are playing. You are welcome to watch it to verify if you see Sweta's name there. Please advise what more references would be considered reliable to vet her page? A highly educated (3 master's & 2 bachelors), a talented producer (7 movies in two years) should deserve a wiki page to inspire a lot of budding filmmakers and dreamers across the world. Kindly help me in providing the necessary information needed to make the article live. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suzzane lasale (talkcontribs) 20:54, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

You need to find multiple in-depth coverage of her in reliable sources, not interviews, not Amazon, not itunes, not Showtime and definitely not IMDb or Linked in. Theroadislong (talk) 21:08, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I drafted "golden section technology" article for review but it was denied because it looks more like an advertisement. I am not sure how to revise it because to my point of view it is written in a neutral language with references. I revised it for re-submission but not sure if I do it in the right way. Can you help with this article? Thanks.

William Mook

Hi,

I am trying to submit an article about william mook. This is the comment you left for me:

"Press releases are not reliable sources and much of the content is unsourced do you have a connection with the subject?"

I know Bill in person. He is in board of editors at Kepler Space Institute. We thought at the age of 66 with tons of innovations and services in industry and in educating young talents there should be a wikipedia page about him.

This my linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hamidrezajalilian/

And his: https://www.linkedin.com/in/williammook/

endorsement speaks of who he is.

Please let me know how I can make it happen. There is lots of press releases (USA, New Zealand known national media), institute pages, government pages, independent business reports about him and his innovations. Any kind of resources that I may think of except a wikipedia page.

Please let me know how I can make it happen.

Thank you again for your time,

Wikipedia has no interest in what Linked in or press releases say about Mook, we require independent reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 20:00, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

You rejected this draft five days ago. It has been resubmitted, which rejection is intended to prevent. I won't give the details of how that is done (although I am sure that you can work that out) because that would be telling the boy what species of beans not to put in his ears. I have sent it to MFD this time. Sometimes it is necessary to throw the beans out to the chicken coop, and then bake the chicken. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:29, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

photo and AGs of SD

I do not know how to post pictures. I have pictures on my computer saved but not sure how to post them here.

I am updating and building out the Attorney Generals of South Dakota and trying to add to them as I can. Sometimes I am trying to build shells for AGs of the past to then go back in and add to them as I have time. Examples are "Roger Tellinghuisen" and "Mark Meierhenry". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gemofadeal (talkcontribs) 05:14, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

If the photographs are ones that you took yourself, then you can upload them here https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page if you didn't take them, then you would need to get the photographer to release them from copyright. Theroadislong (talk) 08:57, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Promotional post

Hey - thanks for the comment, i'm not sure how to reply? would you perhaps be able to give any further details as to how the post sounds promotiional? i'm just trying to get this finished and upload my first srticle so any help would be hugely appreciated. thanks so much — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paradise lost 90 (talkcontribs) 20:55, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

I'm not an admin so I can't see the deleted draft and it wasn't me that tagged it for deletion. Comments by another editor included "Since you include a bunch of information that has no source at all, you are presumably receiving info from the company itself, and working on their behalf." Wikipedia has essentially no interest in what you or I know or have to say about anything. We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject. Re: Sweta Rai page deletion

I am fairly new to wikipedia editor, neither am I related to Sweta Rai nor her publicist, I checked her IMDB and there is no PR agency listed there which means she doesn't even have a manager or a publicist. And I am surely not a "ghostwriter" else I would have written a better piece. Please could you advise why her article is still visible on everybody wiki? Kindly help in suggesting how it should be deleted from there? (Suzzane lasale (talk) 07:55, 30 January 2019 (UTC))29th Jan 2019

"Everybody Wiki" merely copies content from here I guess? I have never come across it before, but having looked Sweta has no page there. Theroadislong (talk) 09:03, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
@Theroadislong and Suzzane lasale: Apparently she has already: https://en.everybodywiki.com/Sweta_Rai
At the first glance looks like a direct copy from us (Sweta Rai). --CiaPan (talk) 14:21, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks --CiaPan please help in deleting that copy on "everybody wiki" or is there a way I could do it? When everyone is expecting a deletion of Sweta's page on wikipedia, it should definitely not be on everybody wiki. (Suzzane lasale (talk) 16:56, 30 January 2019 (UTC))30th Jan 2019

@Theroadislong Thanks for your advise on Everybody wiki, however, it looks like "evreybody wiki" is for self publicity which is not the case here. Even if the page is up for deletion on wiki what is a way to delete it from everybody wiki first? Please help (Suzzane lasale (talk) 16:06, 31 January 2019 (UTC))31st Jan 2019
As already pointed out I think that "everybody wiki" automatically adds Wikipedia articles that are up for deletion, you will have to log in to their site to ask about deletion, we have no control of what they do there. Theroadislong (talk) 16:37, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
"everybody wiki" has nothing to do with Wikipedia, it merely copies the content of Wikipedia articles that are up for deletion. Theroadislong (talk) 16:59, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
@Suzzane lasale: I'm afraid I can't help. I have no special privileges in EverybodyWiki, which might be required for page deletion. Actually I do not even have an account there. And it's not just about an account; to be honest, I've never actually heard about it until now... --CiaPan (talk) 21:45, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments on DRAFT: Sacred Attention Therapy article

Hello Theroadislong, Thank you for your comments on DRAFT:Sacred Attention Therapy article, regarding potential conflict of interest. May I ask you some questions about your comments? --RobMeagherSAT (talk) 23:41, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Ask away. Theroadislong (talk) 08:59, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, Theroadislong. As background...I tried to publish an article by the same name a few years ago; but I quickly met with challenges due to insufficient verifiable references. I waited a few years until I could gather some/many, and I have re-initiated the creation of the article. Regarding potential for a conflict of interest...how is it determined if there is a conflict of interest? And who determines if there is a conflict of interest? The article is not about myself, family, friends, clients or my employer. I have no financial stake in any organization related to Sacred Attention Therapy. Should I state this on the 'talk' page for the article? Thanks for sharing your experience(s) with me, Theroadislong. Sincererely, --RobMeagherSAT (talk) 11:00, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
But, you state on the draft talk page "I am Co-Founder of the Center for Human Awakening that shares the SAT teachings of Richard Harvey" which means you have a VERY clear conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 11:04, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
Correct, I am Co-Founder of the Center for Human Awakening but I have no financial stake in the organization. The Center is not a for-profit organization. I do not benefit financially from the Center or from disseminating its teachings. How is this a conflict of interest?--RobMeagherSAT (talk) 16:06, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
I appreciate your guidance in this matter, Theroadislong. I have revised my affiliation to reduce/avoid concern over conflict of interest. I removed mention that I was co-founder of the Center that shares the teachings of Richard Harvey. I do not benefit financially, or otherwise, from my affiliation with Richard Harvey. Therefore, I have removed the mention of such so that it may alleviate any concerns you or any other person may have. Again, many thanks for your guidance.--RobMeagherSAT (talk) 16:29, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
You misunderstand, you don't have to benefit financially or otherwise to have a conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 16:33, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
I understand, Theroadislong. You have been so kind in guiding me through this wonderful Wikipedia journey. Thank you. May I ask you another question?--RobMeagherSAT (talk) 16:57, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Notability of an artist

What are suitable sources to prove the notability of an artist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiXT4PE (talkcontribs) 20:26, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

In order to demonstrate notability, you need to provide references to in-depth articles written about Fytch in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, newspapers or books, etc. but not blogs, Youtube, Spotify, Facebook, Linked in etc. Theroadislong (talk) 20:35, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
See the criteria for notability of musicians here Wikipedia:Notability (music). Theroadislong (talk) 20:57, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

I added some references. Should I resubmit or do you want to look over it first? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiXT4PE (talkcontribs) 21:28, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

It's not clear to me how he passes Wikipedia:Notability (music) but if you want to re-submit I'll leave it for another reviewer to take a look. Theroadislong (talk) 21:35, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

Feedback on daft article 3 Feb 2019

Thank you for reviewing my first draft article for Wikipedia. I am confused by the comments as I tried to source everything very carefully with links to content in Wikipedia and also to external references, which includes several leading newspapers (these include more than passing mentions) that have written about Red Circle Authors and other information in the public domain. I have tried to write in a neutral style using sourced text, and multiple not single sources. The page is for a publisher, Wikipedia has many such pages already, and all the authors cited have their own Wikipedia entries, and are notable important authors in their own right; as is the publisher hence its media coverage. I did not include ISBNs and book blurbs or adjectives to promote the books and publisher so that the entry would not read like an advert as I wanted the entry to be factual information only. I will work on the article more, but do you have any suggestions of what I need to change or delete to meet your review criteria? I would be very grateful for feedback as this will guide me for future submissions. Many thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.--WikiGeoffrey (talk) 11:21, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

Rejection of the article about Cho Hyun-joon

Dear Theroadislong,

I reckon you have compelling reasons on why my article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cho_Hyun-joon was declined. But having to wait almost 2 months for it to be rejected is too painful to swallow.

But just to share my perspective as a South Korean. Being the Chairman of Hyosung Corp (a HUGE conglomerate in Korea), is a SUPER BIG DEAL. I feel the sources I cited are reliable, secondary and are independent of the subject. The only thing is that they are all in Korean language. Could that be the reason it was rejected? I understand that I could add foreign language sources on Wikipedia, that is not a violation.

Thus, could you offer more insights on how I could fix this article? This is the SECOND time it got rejected. I'm quite demoralized.

Thank you in advance (kamsahamnida in Korean), Gail — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gailshin (talkcontribs) 03:38, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Firstly you are a single purpose account, with no other edits to Wikipedia, are you being paid to edit this by any chance? The draft written like a CV is about a person who is CEO of a barely notable company, the sources as you say are in Korean so I cannot easily confirm what they say, but they are not positioned in the text after the content they should confirm, they are piled on at the end of the paragraphs. Ref number 1 is a routine business listing, Ref number 4 is a YouTube video which is not a reliable source, Ref number 5 is a YouTube video, Ref number 6 is a YouTube video again, so half of your sources are not reliable. Theroadislong (talk) 10:33, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Staffordshire Figures

Re section removed 'Significant dates in the history of Staffordshire figures' "POV not required": The history timeline I feel is of value. It ties together the dates and the events that are celebrated. I should add text to the body to ensure each line refers to a text entry. Agree? Davidmadelena (talk) 10:52, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Before adding that section back you will need to find reliable sources that confirm that they are "Significant dates in the history of Staffordshire figures" otherwise it is just your POV or personal opinion. Theroadislong (talk) 11:21, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

please also note that Wikipedia cannot reference itself

Thank you for looking at our page. I saw your comment and removed the external links from the body of our page. I have a question regarding how we would reference something like Linux Foundation that has a wikipedia page. Wouldn't it be best to use the wikipedia link as a reference? If not what would be the best source for the reference?

Thanks againJdenisco (talk) 18:05, 1 February 2019 (UTC)jdenisco

You have misunderstood, it's perfectly acceptable and desirable to Wiki link terms like Linux Foundation but we can't use Wikipedia as a reference as you have done. I am also concerned that you are calling it "our page" and "we".... Wikipedia accounts are strictly for single personal use. Please declare any conflict of interest you may have on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 18:14, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

Thank you again. I think I have cleaned up all the links and references. I need to work on the Overview a bit, but wanted to know if you think the references and links are OK now. Do you think they are OK now?

As far as full disclousure and conflict of interest. VPP (the subject of my article) is free open source software similar to DPDK , Linux Foundation , Yocto Project etc. These projects have wikipedia pages so I think this article should also be appropriate for wikipedia. For some background, the VPP software has been gifted as free open source software to the Linux Foundation . I mention "our page" and "we" because I am getting input from members of FD.io community. The FD.io community is an open source community interested in this free Software. Does this make sense? Jdenisco (talk)jdenisco —Preceding undated comment added 18:17, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

That sounds like a conflict of interest then. Your draft has been edited to remove copyright violations but you are still using Wikipedia as a source which is not allowed. Theroadislong (talk) 18:52, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
