June 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Waxworker. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Maisy, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 04:16, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't make a mistake. I'll confess that I don't have an internet source, but while it may not be substantial, I included the information I did thanks to recalling seeing the series on BabyFirst, the channel I mentioned. I don't know what source to try though, as I don't know any reliable ones that catalogue all BabyFirst programming. Triviatronic9000 (talk) 04:22, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:BURDEN, "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material" - if a reliable source cannot be found, the information shouldn't be in the article. Waxworker (talk) 04:27, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is indeed a fair point. I know this isn't an excuse, but I am rather new to editing on Wikipedia. I won't make that mistake again if I don't get carried away. I apologize. Triviatronic9000 (talk) 04:45, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I got a bit carried away thinking I was so smart. I thought I remembered seeing the show on the channel, but I can't find anything online concrete enough. Which is strange because I don't remember dreaming or making it up. Triviatronic9000 (talk) 04:55, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Writing in Wikipedia[edit]

Hi. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! But here are a few tips for improving your Wikipedia contributions;

  • Don't address the reader directly as "you".
  • Don't use contractions like "aren't" or "don't". Wikipedia writing needs to be more formal.
  • Don't add your own speculations or inferences about what things mean or indicate. Even if they appear to be obvious. You need sources that do this for you.

Read this guide for lots of help on how best write articles in Wikipedia. Thanks. Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:34, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I just thought it was okay for talk pages because it was just, well, talking to people about topics relating to articles. Sorry. I'll try to not do that. Triviatronic9000 (talk) 20:27, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's ok. It's all about learning a different way of writing. Wikipedia doesn't have references to the writer (i.e. "I", "me", "we", "my", "our", "us") or to the reader ("you", "your"), or actions by either. So while you might say something like "You can see the building in the Main Street", in Wikipedia it would be phrased "The build is in the Main Street". It is an impersonal way of writing, but that's the encyclopaedia style. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 09:03, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So just remain impersonal in editing and writing articles. Got it. Thanks. Triviatronic9000 (talk) 15:55, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse[edit]

Hello, Triviatronic9000. Your question was not removed. It was archived. Here is the answer I wrote for you on November 1. Inactive threads get archived in two to three days. Cullen328 (talk) 02:10, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Triviatronic9000. Please read Help:Section. I use the source editor, which makes it very easy to create a section. In the edit window, on a new line, you type two equal signs, then the new section mame, then two more equal signs. The wikicode code looks like this:
 ==New section==
It is that easy. Cullen328 (talk) 02:31, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
