PLEASE NOTE

I hope you have received my reply regarding your request for deletion of an article I had submitted...Gina Garofano... I have since had a historian repair my untidy submission to wikipedia standards. I'm requesting that you continue to allow this article to exist without cause for deletion. This is article on a notable person that surely will have contributions from other members.

Thanks for understanding my shortcomings being as it was my first submission. From now on I will utilize a historian familiar with wikipedia for possible updates and contributions.

LBL Systems speedy deletion

I just posted a new subject on Long Base Line as there was no existing page for this yet. I thought this information was relevant, new and on Wikipedia non-existant.

The information provided was based from the magazine that I am working for, and which is a reference in hydrography. Is this spamming? Not that I am aware of - I though to add information that is useful and that may be completed by others. Hope to clarify this.

Best wishes - Joost

--Joostboers (talk) 14:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

I understand but the only reference you gave was for a single business review and the article looked very much like an advertisment. What is needed is reliable 3rd party sources. Some one else agreed with me becase the page has been deleted (not by me). Next time 1. Place a {{hangon}} on the page and explain this in the talk page of the article. 2. Find more references to show WP:NPOV. Then you will not have a problem. --Triwbe (talk) 14:36, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

RE: Paul Teed

Uggh. This was already addressed by a Wikipedia Admin. I give up. I'm sick of pleading my case every time. It's no use, I just can't compete with the people who scroll the recent changes pages with an iron fist. There needs to be better communication between Admins.

ChuckGreen (talk) 09:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

It is simple, read Wikipedia:Notability (people) and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and think about why multiple editors have not found enough references to keep the article. --Triwbe (talk) 09:12, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Sine Qua Non (Battlestar Galactica)

I have nominated Sine Qua Non (Battlestar Galactica), an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sine Qua Non (Battlestar Galactica). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? dorftrottel (talk) 00:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Triwbe ... I noticed your addition of {{Articleissues}} to a recently created article by Colors8 (talk · contribs), who seems to be creating articles about NN actors ... I just thought that you might be interested in the Flag templates that I have created for "questionable" articles, where I provide a stencil for that template in the 3rd Step ... using them may take a little more time, but I have found them to be worth the extra effort ... do you have any comments on them?

Happy Editing! — 151.200.237.53 (talk · contribs) 08:58, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

was just looking and admiring them :-) very useful IMHO. Explains to the editor properly why the article is of concern and points him/her to the WP pages explaining in details. I think I may also use it. Well done. --Triwbe (talk) 09:28, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi ... I saw you tried to use it on Sri Sureshanand Ji (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) ... unfortunately, you need to copy&paste the stencil from the 1st Step of the appropriate WP:FLAG-xyz protocol and replace "Author-name" ... each one has the appropriate (Guideline) already ({{Flag-article}} with no arguments just doesn't cut it <Sigh!>) ... what I usually do is open WP:FLAG-BIO (or whatever) in another browser tab so that I can switch back and forth between them ... and don't forget to flag the author as well ... guess I need to update the instructions. :-) —151.200.237.53 (talk) 12:13, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
OK got it. --Triwbe (talk) 12:17, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Thnx fer the accidental snafu ... I've update the documentation to emphasize that they must be substituted, and added a Usage section to the WP:FLAG-/templates documentation that talks about using multiple browser tabs ... I'm also going to give some thought to adding a warning message if they lack the required second argument (Article/Editor-name), like {{Db}} does, but that'll have to be a project for Some Other Session. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 13:01, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi. :) In reviewing CSDs, I came upon the above article which you tagged for WP:CSD#A2, but I can't find the foreign language equivalent in another Wikimedia project. I've tried Google searching for the term and also for some of the language, but haven't come up with a match. If you happen to know where it is, please let me know, and I'll be happy to clean it up. I've removed the tag for now as I haven't been able to verify that it meets the criterion. You are of course more than welcome to put the tag back up with the source encoded. ({{db-a2|source=SourceProject:SourcePageName}}) The removal of the tag is not meant to dispute that it meets the criterion, merely to indicate that I can't verify it. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

it is on the dutch site (natrually) http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/BREEAM_management but up for deletion, so what does that tell us about the EN site ? :-) --Triwbe (talk) 13:42, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. :) I'll go ahead and take care of it now. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello again, Triwbe ... Well, {{Flag-article}} and {{Flag-editor}} both generate an error message if the user forgets to "subst:" the template ... thnx fer making me aware of the problem. :-)

On a related note, now they also populate Category:Flagged articles and Category:Flagged editors ... they may get deleted Real Soon Now, but it may solve one of the problems pointed out by Some Other Editor, i.e., "... then I have to remember to check the article a few days later."

I think that these categories can serve as a community Watchlist that can help share the burden of reviewing "questionable" articles that could still be saved ... what are your thoughts?

Happy Editing! — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 16:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi again ... I see that you used Template:Flag-editor on User talk:Colors8, but it was while I was futzing with it, so that user doesn't show in Category:Flagged editors ... My bad! ... it should work correctly the next time that you use it. :-) Happy Editing! — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 00:12, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

It work very well, see the respone given on Talk:Association of Black Psychologists. WP:AGF is much easier when you have cooperative feedback. --Triwbe (talk) 06:05, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I "touched" the article Association of Black Psychologists (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and its Talk page ... don't feel like putting much lipstick on that pig. :-) —151.200.237.53 (talk) 17:53, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
NO, I understand, but it got a response from the editor and it gently let him know people are watching. CSD or prod and we could loose a potentially worthy article (hypothetically speaking). --Triwbe (talk) 18:09, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
That's it, exactly, Grasshopper ... "Hold their hand, don't slap it!" :-)
BTW, how do you like the change to "helping hand optional" with the assist parameter in the Flag tempplates? — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 22:31, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

OK, it made sense to activate this one without feedback ... I'm gonna use it for The Offspring (film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), and hope that you will find it useful as well ... I've modified {{Flag-article}} and {{Flag-editor}} to recognize Movies as a (Guideline). — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 04:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Deletion

Keep in mind that the Asian Club group has just been created, similar to Taipei American School's "Blue & Gold" club. Prowikipedians (talk) 08:45, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I am keeping this under review, none of them seems to have the required notability, but Wikipedia:Notability (schools) seems to be completely ignored and all and every school seems to be allowed, and their groups and clubs (re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blue & Gold). A public newspaper or magazine would need substantial notability to be kept, but a school rag with minimal distribution, no one objects to. Why ? --Triwbe (talk) 09:00, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
This is because schools apply to the section under notability. BTW...I fixed your link. Prowikipedians (talk) 09:05, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Are we reading the same section ???

Indicators of probable notability

The following criteria are some indicators of probable notability and indicate that suitable sources almost certainly exist for building the article. If any of the following can be reliably sourced, then the article should not be deleted but allowed to exist as a stub.

1. The school has a notable award or status.
2. The school receiving the highest available official assessment.

I am not picking out this one, there are hundreds of non-notable scools by this criteria. The page is just a proposal, but I think it goes againts so many other WP:ISNOT sections as well. --Triwbe (talk) 09:12, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean by "the school receiving the highest available official assessment.?" Rephrase please. Prowikipedians (talk) 09:13, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
It is a quote, read Wikipedia:Notability (schools). --Triwbe (talk) 09:14, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Tell you what. Give me some time to write on this article since I also have other articles to write on. Prowikipedians (talk) 09:26, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
That is no problem, from the talk pages the schools proposal is nowhere near acceptance. consensus is a long way off, as is shown by Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blue & Gold and others. --Triwbe (talk) 10:04, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to drop in uninvited, but I created WP:FLAG-SCL a few months ago to facilitate articles judged by WP:SCL ... there has never been much interest in it, though, since schools are not A7 speedy deletable candidates, and they usually require a WP:AFD to delete, which is just Too Much effort for some editors ... Happy Editing! — 151.200.237.53 (talk · contribs) 15:09, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, you are welcome. I like the idea of "flagging" 'cause 1) no [[CSD for schools, 2) WP:PROD will be removed by any savvy editor then 3) WP:AFD would probably be no consensus or merge, which is just as bad 'cause no one can be bothered to actually make the effort to do it (talking about schools here). Flagging at least pokes the editor and may get a reaction, which is more than the other options.--Triwbe (talk) 15:19, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
 • " … that's why the templates use a icon instead of a or icon ("Get their attention, but don't frighten them!") … they don't know what's going on, and we're trying to bring them up to speed and guide them, so we need to hold their hands, not slap them …"
There was a long period of growth and change in creating WP:FLAG-PROTOCOL, and the addition/changes in the color of the flag icon was accompanied by a campaign to regularize the editor notification message templates for the common Speedy deletion templates (and the courtesy PROD messages), so that they all used the same icon image files (yellow for PRODs, red for CSDs) ... also, the first incarnations were WARN-xyz, not FLAG-xyz, and they emphasized CSD over PROD ... I like to think that I've grown since those earlier days. :-)
BTW, I've modified {{Selected filmography}} to populate Category:Flagged articles as well ... Happy Editing! — 151.200.237.53 (talk · contribs) 16:20, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Shepherd Boats was definitely not a CSD#A1 - I nuked it anyhow, on the grounds that it was realistically an A7, maybe G11. Just for future reference, so to avoid the same mistake on others which might not be so nukable. WilyD 18:22, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I am a Film & TV actor (Screen Actors Guild) with some 33 films and TV shows under my belt... I am also a stage entertainer since 1990 in the area of the paranormal and have done TV specials/shows in the USA and Japan related to the paranormal. Plus I've been written about in several major publishing company books (not self printed)... And YET every time I try to get something added, it's deleted... --Rgmatthewsjr (talk) 10:53, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for communicating. I guess no 1. It's autobiographical, see Wikipedia:Autobiography. 2, you have to prove that you/he is notable. Every time the article is deleted a reason is given. You have to get the first version of the article up to "Stub" class, see Wikipedia:Stub then you will be safe. The bottom line normally comes down to WP:attribution, especially with Biographies of living persons. Get one or two good references then you should be OK. --Triwbe (talk) 11:00, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Twibe. My bad, it was just that when DeadlyAssassin tried to add a CSD template it broke his page (see: [1]) •xytram•talkpics 14:22, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Norman Giller

Hello Triwbe. Thank you for editing the Norman Giller entry. Your input is most welcome, and the whole of Wikipedia just awesome. I can vouch that all the facts are correct, as I submitted them. The words are not copied and pasted, but freshly 'cooked' for the Wikipedia website. When recently addressing a ladies luncheon on the topic of writing books, one of the audience said rather sarcastically: "You cannot be a very established author because I can find no reference to you in Wikipedia! " Hopefully, with your assistance, I can now put that right and get the recognition that Wikipedia brings. Incidentally, I can trace Samuel Pepys in my ancestry line. I wonder what he would make of Wikipedia! Sammypepys (talk) 01:40, 14 June 2008 (UTC) Norman

Hi Sammy, thank you for your input. You know what I did ? I thought "who is this guy?" - so I googled. Then I thought "blimy, he even has interviews with the BBC, he really did do all this stuff". Then I searched Wikipedia 3 or 4 times because I could not believe there was no article for him or hardly any mention of him already. So good work for you for creating it and writing all that material. No problem of notability or WP:V verifiability here. Then, lastly, the text looked a little too professionally written, so I checked for Internet pages from which it may have been copied (in violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy), but I did not find any. So just in case I added the {{Copypaste}} to show my concern, but if you attend book writing luncheons, then that explains the writing quality:-). --Triwbe (talk) 04:38, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

I am guessing, Triwbe, that you are States-based. I truly appreciate the effort you have put in on my behalf. I have now reached the "old git" stage of my life, and many of my generation do not attempt to keep up to date with the hurtling changes of the internet world. I must be honest and admit that I stumble around in Wikipedia like a blind man in a maze. If anything there is too much information about how to edit, and it all just confuses my poor old brain (I have smooth-as-a-baby's-bum hands that have not done a day's work in their life ... but you should see the blisters on my brain). I am waffling. Sorry. Would you like me to upload a photo of myself as further proof that I am THE Norman Giller, of Whom Who's Who says Who? Thanks for taking time out to correspond. You must have better things to do with your time. I have just made a small donation to the Wikipedia fund. I take so much out of Wikipedia that it's only right that I should put something back.Sammypepys (talk) 11:57, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

My last experience with an old hack was actually a younge scottish blonde lassie whom I met in a hotel bar in Bamako a few years ago. He's nothing like her. But she tried to stitch us up, see Glenys Kinnock#Attributes. Currently I am in Moscow for a few weeks. --Triwbe (talk) 17:18, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

What a great line, Triwbe: " ... a young Scottish blonde lassie whom I met in a bar in Bamako ..." It could have come out of the mouth of Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca: "Of all the gin-joints in all of the world you have to walk in to this one in Bamako ..." Enjoy Moscow. They will be going mad there tonight for their team in the Euro semi-finals ... :) Sammypepys (talk) 10:22, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, that was unexpected. Thanks for the "your first article" page, but I've made many articles that contribute. I am a bit surprised at this deletion, considering he is a well known person who has had national awards in his life. I don't see why you really thought it needed to be deleted, and no, it wasn't copyrighted text, I wrote it in my own words. So, uh..I don't really know what to say. I didn't have time to answer you because I was off of my computer. I don't think it was really fair to delete it when I had no chance to reply. Smuckers (talk) 14:36, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

There, so you can ask User:Accounting4Taste for an undelete or a copy of the article and make sure it shows some significance when/if you try again. I don't demand attribution on the first go, just a statment of why some one is notable. --Triwbe (talk) 15:22, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Theodor Pröpper

I declined based off de:Theodor Pröpper, which list several works and is a rather complete article on him. I could not in good faith speedy delete the article based off this however if you wish to take it to AfD so be it. –– Lid(Talk) 16:03, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I checked de:Theodor Pröpper as well, these are not WP:RS. Anything goes on some Wikis. --Triwbe (talk) 16:08, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Mark Power

Yes, Power's article is wretched, but unlike a lot of photographers whose articles sport unsourced claims, Power seems to merit the article. All those templates cumulatively make whoever applied them look curiously angry, but I suppose they're justified. I'm tired and hungry and about to turn the computer off for a few hours; could I perhaps interest you in spending thirty minutes of your life on googling for more reliable sources? If you do a bit, that may well inspire me to look for Power in a couple of new and authoritative books about Magnum that I think the local library stocks. -- Hoary (talk) 11:43, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

When new page patrolling I look at similar articles for useful templates, and when I see such issues, I quickly tag them, nothing personal and it's a shotgun approach I know. So, I cannot refuse a polite request like that - I will try to find something, but I think you have enough already, I removed the tags. --Triwbe (talk) 11:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Twibe,

re.: Ariel Atom

I removed your "toolong" template, primarily as it was not justified in the talk page. The article is not lengthly. Best wishes, Leonard G. (talk) 01:36, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Prod

Anyone may remove a prod tag for any reason, and if they do the tag shouldn't be put back into the article. That line about edit summaries isn't a rule, it's a recommendation, a suggestion of courtesy to other editors; at no point does it say that if somebody removes a prod tag without explaining why, they should be reverted. That would be counterproductive with regards to the intended uncontroversial nature of proposed deletion. --Closedmouth (talk) 03:07, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Charles Hiram Burnett Jr.

Would a Mayor of Edinburgh who presided at the opening of it's single largest tourist attraction be non notable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by RichardBond (talkcontribs) 08:15, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

If he failed Wikipedia:Notability (people) then yes. WP does not go by individual knowledge, so making a comparison is pretty meaningless. Wikipedia demands WP:attribution through references to notability. I think Charles Hiram Burnett Jr. is notable, that is why the article was not deleted under speedy deletions, but it is still your jobs to show it. You may have done so by now, I do not review every article constantly. --Triwbe (talk) 08:31, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Done ... never mind ... I've flagged all of them, and I'll put a message on User talk:Colors8 ... you may want to Watchlist them, anyway. — 151.200.237.53 (talk) 12:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Follow-up on Deletion of LinkConnector

The Entry for LinkConnector was deleted around the 10th of June. I would like to further discuss this deletion, if I may. I feel it is relevant and important to point out that many of LinkConnector's major competitors (found in the same industry, and with the same Wikipedia Categories) have Wikipedia entries that are not at all dissimilar to the entry proposed for LinkConnector. Please see the Shareasale entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shareasale) or the Commission Junction entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commission_Junction) for examples of this.

Here are a few statements to exemplify this point: ShareASale is an affiliate marketing network based in Chicago, IL USA. ShareASale services two customer sets in affiliate marketing: the affiliate, and the merchant.... ShareASale was founded in 2000 by Brian Littleton, and to date has over 2,000 merchant programs[1] hosted on its network platform. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shareasale)

LinkConnector is an Affiliate Marketing (form of online advertising) Network headquartered in Cary, North Carolina[1]. As an Affiliate Marketing Network, LinkConnector manages the relationship between a merchant with a product or service to sell and a website owner (affiliate) with space to promote that product or service. LinkConnector currently operates in six departments: Affiliate Relations; Merchant Relations; Technology; HR, Admin, Finance; Sales; Marketing... LinkConnector has over 10,000 affiliates in its network, and hundreds of active merchants...

The statements made in the LinkConnector article proposal were not dissimilar in style or tone from those found in other major companies in the same industry. I also want to be point out that the Article is proposed with the knowledge of Wikipedia's various Guidelines (including Citation Usage, Notability guidelines, etc). This is my first contribution to Wikipedia, so I do ask for your patience - I am willing to work with you, the Editor, to provide an acceptable article for submission.

If possible, I would like to kindly ask that we take the following steps:

1) Would you please email me a copy of the LinkConnector article that has been deleted? The notes from our deletion process stated that an author could ask for a copy of their article.

2) With any further feedback you could give me, I will re-construct the article to correct any shortcomings you see. I will ensure all statements are impartial or neutral. I will then re-submit our article.

3) I cannot locate the log files from the LinkConnector Talk page. I placed a {hangon} tag onto the LinkConnector article, and then went to the article's Talk page to learn more about why it was deleted and to give feedback. I cannot find these notes, but would like to keep a copy - would you be able to send this as well?

Thank you in advance for your time! June 23, 2008, JLBContributions JLBContributions (talk) 14:47, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your message. I am sorry but I did not delete the article. I see from [2] that it was Anthony Appleyard (talk · contribs) that deleted the article. I do not have the power to even see what the old contents were. I suggest you ask Anthony Appleyard if he can help you.

I will, however review the other articles you mentioned and see if they are acceptable, however each artilce must stand on it's own merits see WP:WAX --Triwbe (talk) 16:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Cary Herrman

Thank you Triwbe. I feel there is great notability to the individual, he is apparently a leader in his field, has received awards, has made notable contributions and appears to be a model American. I will take this to other administrators and to wikipedia. Thank you for your comment. BHOrchid (talk) 20:15, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

notability is only half the task you then have to prove it. I only flagged the article, I neither proposed nor deleted it. I see it was deleted previously. I think you hade better read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cary Herrman and WP:BIO because I will know better next time I see the article. --Triwbe (talk) 21:30, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

A H school

You have deleted the notables ( Alumni) who have articles on Wikipedia. Also you have deleted the school history such as who were the former teachers (They were not highlighted as notables. They were part of the histrory). Please stop doing so without mentioning on the talk page.

JRN08 (talk) 21:13, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

It said only about 1. Lists of current teachers, pupils, administrative staff, school secretaries, etc not be listed. It did not say about the former teachers and students. It has recommended to list the former head masters and the notables (Notables to Wikipedia). We will work together keeping this in mind. Thanks for pointing this to us. We were not aware of this.

Concerning Anandashram High School, Bankikodla I mentioned my guidelines on the talk page. I have no problem discussing their interpretation. Notability of people WP:BIO on the other hand is clearly defined. I will see later. --Triwbe (talk) 21:28, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for alerting me to these "notable" alumni. I will review those as well. --Triwbe (talk) 21:37, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Followed the WP:WPSCHOOLS#WNTI. Makesure everyone follows this - not just this school articles, everything and every articles on Wikipedia. Thanks.

JRN08 (talk) 22:02, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I agree with you 100%. --Triwbe (talk) 05:53, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Nadkarni M. V.

Updated as suggested. Feel free to edit - Why should other contributors stop us editing to meet the Wiki standards?

RE: My warning over future conduct

I would like to apologise for any disruption caused by the article i submitted regarding Thom Buckley. I would also like to highlight that the page was not targetting anyone for the purpose of bullying etc. as I myself am Thom Buckley and wrote the article merely as a personal in joke between a couple of friends. I'm not challenging your decision just explaining the circumstances in which the article was written.
